Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been left with a bit of a head-scratcher ahead of the Champions League showdown against Bayern Munich on Tuesday
With Joe Gomez out, Virgil van Dijk suspended and Dejan Lovren struggling, Joel Matip is the only recognised centre-back with Fabinho favourite to fill in alongside the Cameroonian
It's a further example of why a deep squad is required at the top end of the European game
But what if Klopp had the opposite problem? What if he had all his players ready to go? We take a look at what we believe would be the ideal Liverpool starting line-up if all players were fit and available
Ian Doyle - 'Fabinho has made himself undroppable' Jurgen Klopp has spent an awful lot of money in the last four transfer windows to transform Liverpool into genuine title contenders
In doing so, he has constructed what might possibly be the strongest Reds squad of the Premier League era
Yet his first-choice team, admittedly one with the benefit of more than half-a-season of exposure, almost picks itself
The defence certainly does, with Joe Gomez given the nod ahead of Dejan Lovren at its heart

The only real debate is in midfield. Gini Wijnaldum has been the real winner this season, while Fabinho has made himself undroppable with his form in recent months
James Milner is reliable, Xherdan Shaqiri has sparkled on occasion, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain can't be forgotten and Naby Keita is hopefully starting to deliver on his promise
But skipper Jordan Henderson remains the most influential presence in the engine room
My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Mane
Connor Dunn - 'The questions, as ever, come down to the midfield' When you look at this squad, there are some positions that pick themselves
That is of course, Alisson in goal, Virgil van Dijk in the heart of defence with Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold on either flank
The front three in Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane also unequivocally command that status too
You can't really look past Joe Gomez to complete the backline after his sensational rise at Liverpool and then the questions, as ever, come down to the midfield
Gini Wijnaldum makes a tremendous difference to the balance of the side and therefore has to be in the best starting XI while Fabinho gives a totally different option in the engine room and his performances of late have certainly made him worthy of being included here
The third and final position is trickier and it will depend on formation of course but Jurgen Klopp's tried and tested 4-3-3 is the one for me and that means Jordan Henderson is also in the line-up
The captain is the man for big games and while opposition will come into any team selection his consistency and ability make him the choice
My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Mane
Sean Bradbury - 'Oxlade-Chamberlain's dynamism has been missed' Most obvious words in the world to start: Alisson is in goal
The rest of the defence picks itself too. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson in the full-back positions, with Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk in between them
The final easy part is naming a front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah
Midfield is where the real dilemma emerges. I'm sticking to a 4-3-3 formation and Fabinho and Gini Wijnaldum both make the cut
After a slow start to the season the Brazilian has well and truly bedded in at Anfield now and increasingly looks like an essential part of Liverpool's spine, while Wijnaldum has arguably been the Reds' most consistent performer so far this campaign
The third midfield berth goes to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who just edges out Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita
On the rare occasions Klopp's side have appeared under par in recent months, it is Oxlade-Chamberlain's dynamism and ability to link midfield and attack that seems to have been missing the most
My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Salah, Firmino, Mane
Chris Beesley - 'Keita SHOULD be in there. but isn't' With no real doubts over the areas of goalkeeper, full-backs or the forward three I would suggest that the major issues are in the composition of the midfield and who should partner Virgil van Dijk at centre-back
Although Dejan Lovren considers himself as one of the world's best defenders, all things being equal he isn't actually one of the first two choices at the heart of the Reds back four in my eyes
Like the Croatian, Joe Gomez has suffered his fair share of fitness issues but he's the best choice going forward with the greatest scope to develop
Keep up to date with the all the build-up to Liverpool vs Bayern Munich here The engine room is an intriguing conundrum
Forget what the haters of Jordan Henderson say - many of whom are far away from Anfield on a matchday when they cast their skewed opinions - the club captain remains at the heartbeat of this side
For sheer ability you'd think Naby Keita SHOULD be in there too but he hasn't shown enough so far so instead the likes of Fabinho and Gini Wijnaldum are in on merit for what they have proven on the pitch to date
My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Mane
