Here's How I Bought a Luxury Car for $3,000 - Duration: 5:33.

Rev up your engines, mike says how many miles does scotty's wife's

lexus have, well I bought it from a customer of mine and his father died and he didn't

want it, it only had 60,000 miles when I got it, now it's got like 78,000 miles on it,

it's the best car we ever bought for $3,000, those things run forever you know, I had a

customer who bought the same exact car I worked on Thursday, there were two of them and they

were exactly the same, same gold and wheels same everything, she paid like $5,500 and

it had 120,000 miles, so I got a pretty good deal, but those things will run forever, if

you're thinking about getting a lexus get the 6 cylinder engines, cuz they last a lot

longer and they get better gas mileage than the 8's, there's really a big difference in

them, the customers I have with older 8's they all started to get expensive to repair,

with the 6's they don't, kodiak says what do you think of the 1996

suburban, they were great vehicles back in 96, the were solid, reliable, I got a customer

who's still driving his around and he loves the thing, he has no problems with it and

he gets them all over the place, now yes it's a huge gas hog, the gas goes in and the gas

goes out the tailpipe, their gas hogs, but they were really well built, now the modern

ones I see the rear ends go out, I see the transmission go out, I see the engines burn

oil, their no where near the vehicles that they used to be, back then they were solid

built and here in Texas they don't rust, so unless you take them to Galveston and the

ocean and saltwater, so you can get old ones that still have solid frames and keep fixing

them and driving them, overwhelming says what do you think of a Nissan

VG single cam engine, those are good engines if you take care of them, the thing that people

don't get about engines is, now they add more and more cams and originally the only had

one, the extra cams are to get extra horsepower or to burn more efficiently and have more

valves, ok when I was a kid if you had a 4 cylinder engine, it had 8 valves, an intake

and an exhaust valve for each cylinder so that's 8, now they have 16, two cams, and

it's a v engine they generally have 4 cams, it makes them more efficient but of course

it also makes them wear out fast, cost a ton more money to rebuild when they need rebuilding,

so as most things, some things get better, the gas mileage and the power, but then the

repair prices go up, so in the old days you could buy used cars and you could drive them

and fix them reasonably cheaply, you can't do it with modern cars, when their old if

they are wearing out a lot of times you just say goodbye to the car rather than do the

engine over because it costs too much money to do it right,

corrupted forever says I bought a pontiac firebird v6 it needs a tune up and other stuff,

I bought it for $900 should I keep it or resell it what do you think, now if you really like

the car, and you're happy with that v6 engine's lack of power, go ahead and keep it, if it

looks in good shape, if the body is not rotted or something, because it's a v6, the v6 does

not have resale value, everybody wants the v8's in those firebirds, and since you don't

have the v8, you're not gonna get that much money if you fix it all up and then sell it,

but if you like the way that it is, be happy with it and drive it around and fix it up,

just realize you don't want to put a bunch of money into that thing, cuz being a v6 it's

never gonna be worth all that much money, tulip says how often do you recommend changing

transfer case oil on an suv, I advise changing it every 40,000 miles or so regardless of

what people say, fluid doesn't cost much, a transfer case to replace one or rebuild

it costs thousands and thousands of dollars in any modern vehicle, changing the fluid

is a good thing, now I know a lot of these companies now say, it's a lifetime fluid,

asks the engineers what they mean by a lifetime fluid, I have and you know what they mean,

well it's good for the lifetime of the transfer case or the transmission itself, and I'm like

ok well what's that, well it depends on how they wear, I said well what's the warranty

for, well the warranty is 50,000 miles, well so I'm going to change the fluid every 40k

myself, and maybe it will go 200-300,000 miles and not just chance it and then after it gets

100k it breaks and they say, well now it's broken you change the fluid and the transfer

case, those things are expensive, recluse says what's your favorite repair manual,

well I like the alldata .com the internet website, I'm a professional mechanic, so I

have the subscription to all the cars that are in it and it's a great information system,

if you do your own cars there's all datadiy .com which is $20 a year, you get one car

at a time, and then it's $20 for extra cars, it's the same information I'm getting only

you only get one car at a time instead of all of them, I used to use books all the time

but now you hardly ever see anybody making them again, because the problem is there's

all these different models coming out, somebody has to get the book and they have to get one

of those models and they have to take it all apart and take all the pictures and show the

stuff, that is so labor intensive, and then hardly anybody buy books anymore, they don't

make any money, so almost all that stuff is going to online, that's just the way it is,

people aren't into books much anymore, go online you know if you got an older vehicle

sure go get an old book that somebody made, they were great books but like I say their

not making that many of them anymore, so if you never want to miss another one of

my new car repair videos, remember to ring that bell!

✅ Keratin Treatments Explained - Here's Everything You need to Know - Duration: 13:27.

- We good.

So what's this video called?

- [Director] That's usually my question.

- Oh. (laughs)

(enthusiastic trumpets blaring)

- Hey guys,

welcome back to the channel.

I'm gonna skip the intro for today.

Like, I don't gotta introduce myself.

(laughs)

My name's Thomas and welcome back to the channel.

I make styling and hair related videos every single week,

so make sure you hit the subscribe button,

if that's your kind of thing.

And in today's video,

we're gonna be talking about keratin treatments,

and taking a deep dive on what they are,

and all of the things that I get asked about them.

Because I thought I answered all of

these questions when I did the keratin video.

Where I actually went into the salon and got it done.

But it's apparent that I keep getting questions

coming up about keratin treatments.

Yeah, I just wanted to go through from A to Z.

I've listed the main questions

that get asked about this.

And we're gonna cover them all today.

We've got things like,

"Do keratin treatments cause cancer?"

We've got things like,

"Do keratin treatments permanently straighten your hair?"

We've got, "How long does a keratin treatment last?"

We've got, "How much does a keratin treatment cost?"

We've also got,

"Do they cause hair loss?"

and, "Do they cause damage?"

These are all things that I didn't really

take into account before I did the video.

So, I have answered some of the questions in the video.

But, I thought doing a full thing like this

would be handy for anybody out there that's considering one.

I also, while I'm here,

I'm gonna put, who is a keratin treatment for?

Alright so, where do we breakdown first?

I think.

Where do we breakdown?

When there's too many things to do,

and I don't know how to sort it out.

That's where we breakdown.

(laughs)

Alright, pull it together.

So, I guess I will be answering

who these are for first.

I think that's probably the most important question.

But essentially, just to sum it up.

A keratin treatment is great for

anybody who struggles with frizz.

If you struggle with frizz,

you'll definitely know because,

as soon as the weather gets humid,

or you know, your hair gets a bit dry,

you'll just get this big.

(imitating air inflating)

And I always say this in any blog post I write

about keratin treatments or curly hair,

because the hair cuticles on the outside of the hair,

they're actually expanding like that.

They work like pores of the skin.

And when a pore heats up or it gets more moisture,

it opens and sweat comes out.

Your hair is the same.

So, it's not exactly like a hole in the hair.

It's actually like a flake,

like a scale, like this.

And when the humidity comes along,

it goes, (imitating air inflating)

and that's why your hair goes poing.

Now people with straighter hair

will experience less frizz.

But that doesn't mean a keratin treatment

can't help work for that.

And people with really curly hair,

like my normal hair,

and really frizzy and coarse,

it helps that as well.

Because those cuticles are always really open.

So, I guess in essence,

the basic form of who a keratin treatment is for

is, for those people with frizz.

If you don't struggle with frizz

you probably won't need to worry about it.

If you have really short hair as well,

you probably notice less frizziness,

so it's not something that you really need.

But, in essence it just helps de-frizz.

And that is like a big problem with mine.

So, the next most common question

that I get about keratin treatments is,

"Do they permanently straighten hair?"

The short answer of this is no.

All they do is relax the curl.

So, if you've got really curly hair like what I have.

My hair is really really tight,

so, after having a keratin treatment,

because the keratin smooths over

those cuticles that I was just talking about,

It actually relaxes the curl,

so instead of them being really

like tight and bouncy like this.

They kind of like relax down.

And depending on how long you have the treatment on for

will depend how much that curl drops.

So, with the keratin treatment that I got,

it was the bhave XT keratin treatment,

and you can have it on for half an hour,

45 minutes, or one hour.

And each different stage will reduce

the curl in your hair a lot.

Now the most recent keratin treatment I had,

I went for the hour session.

So, my curl decreased quite a bit.

I actually ended up with a wave,

instead of having real curls.

Now, that type of hair suits me better.

But if you're somebody that still wants quite a bit of curl,

you might be better off going with

just the half an hour treatment.

So you can still reduce the frizz but keep the curl,

do you know what I mean?

So, no they do not permanently straighten your hair.

I think the misconception of

like it permanently straightening,

comes from the dramatic difference that it does make.

So yes, after having it on for an hour,

my hair is significantly straighter than it was before,

but it's not permanently straight.

Well, for one, it's not straight.

It then becomes wavy,

and also it wears off after awhile.

With a chemical straighten,

you are literally breaking the bonds of those cuticles

and there's no way for it to return.

Like, the chemicals in that actually

trash your hair and damage it.

With keratin, it's just relaxing it.

And over a three to four month period,

that keratin wears off.

And your hair goes back to it's natural state.

The next one on the list is,

"How much does a keratin treatment cost?"

So, the actual question that I got about this

was how much does it cost in US dollars.

That, I can't be certain,

because I've never had a keratin treatment in the US.

But here in Australia,

a keratin treatment like what I had

could cost you anywhere from 250 dollars

to 400 dollars.

They're quite an expensive treatment,

but if you think about the amount

of time that it lasts for.

And the amount of time that it saves you in the mirror.

If you calculated all of that time,

and put a money value on it,

like you do with your job.

It's actually very, very worth it,

because it makes your hair so much more manageable,

and I would recommend it to

anybody that struggles with frizz.

In terms of like,

what it costs in a US dollar.

I mean, you could just go and do

a calculation of currency.

So 250 to 400,

how much does that equal in American?

I think 400 dollars,

like the max price,

equals about 300 dollars in the US.

So, it can still be quite expensive,

but well worth it in my opinion.

Oh, just while I'm here as well,

so you guys know,

oh, you might know it,

El Rubio from The Longhairs.

So, he doesn't have curly hair at all,

but we've been talking a little bit at the moment.

We're doing some collaborations on stuff.

And, he mentioned that he gets

a keratin treatment twice a year.

Now, even though he doesn't have curly hair

he still sees benefit from it.

And I'm guessing that's because

he probably experiences frizz as well,

because he lives in California and it's stinkin' hot.

I know he gets them,

maybe you could like sling him a question

of how much it costs him to get it done.

I know he gets it done twice a year

to keep his hair at bay though.

We've been talking.

Okay,

so, I know I mentioned earlier

that keratin treatments wear off,

after a certain period.

But another question is like,

"How long does it last?"

And to be honest,

it can last anywhere from two to four months.

The reason for that is because the maintenance

that you do on it really matters.

So, if you're washing your hair

with a shampoo that has sulphate in it,

your keratin treatments gonna wear off quicker.

And if you use one that doesn't,

it'll stay for longer.

And, it just depends on the compatibility

and what you're doing,

that will depend on how quickly it wears off.

A lot of beach goers,

like if you love going to the beach,

you'll notice that your keratin treatment

wears off a lot quicker.

So, you've gotta like take that

into consideration when you go and get it.

But on average they just say,

two to four months is like,

a good amount of time for it to last.

For me, I thought I would be able to wait

for the four months before I got another one.

Except I got to month three,

and then I went,

no my normal hair's coming back.

I think we gotta switch it up

and go and get another one.

So, every persons different.

So, the next question on the list,

is "Do keratin treatments cause cancer?"

This is a big one that people type into Google.

This is the big one that people like stress about.

Just like sugar free drinks,

just like smoking cigarettes,

everything can give you bloody cancer,

you know what I mean?

Even now, like opening a plastic bottle

that's got BPA in it,

they go, that could give you cancer.

Anyway, with keratin treatments and the link to cancer.

In the beginning when these keratin treatments came out,

there was a chemical that was being

used in them called formaldehyde.

So, yeah there was multiple cases

of clients and hairdressers getting cancer

caused from formaldehyde that was in the keratin treatments.

It makes sense,

if clients are getting keratin treatments all the time,

they're always around the chemical.

Hairdressers are putting the treatment on,

they're even more susceptible to

getting the cancer from the chemical.

But once they figured out it was the formaldehyde,

then, it's been regulated that

you have to take formaldehyde out of them.

At least here in Australia.

So bhave as well,

like they've got the XT keratin treatment.

All of their keratin treatments are formaldehyde free.

Which, is good.

So I don't have to worry about that.

But it's just about knowledge,

you know what I mean?

Like, if you do a bit of research and find out,

instead of like having an opinion

of like, that gives you cancer.

No, do your research and you can find out,

like what it actually is.

So, I've done my research and

I'm more than happy with keratin treatments.

And I don't have a stress that

I'm gonna get cancer from it,

because I've done my research.

The data doesn't lie.

Okay, so I hope that clears that up.

If you've been worried about getting

cancer from a keratin treatment, stress less.

Just make sure you trust the hairdresser that's doing it,

because if they do a shitty job,

it won't look good.

And if the treatment they're using does have formaldehyde,

you wanna get the hell out of there.

Okay?

So, just check the product,

and make sure you trust the hairdresser.

That's all I would say.

Alright, the next one on the list

is, "Do keratin treatments cause hair loss?"

So, no.

Well, again going back to the data,

and things I've read in all my like research,

and, my own experience with having it.

No, I've not experienced an excess of hair loss.

Although, I was in the dentist,

what, a month ago,

getting my gold tooth put on.

And the dentist that was actually putting my crown on,

she said that her sister got a keratin treatment

and it all made it fall out.

Now the only reason I can think of that happening,

is because the hair dresser either

didn't apply the treatment properly,

or they completely killed their hair.

Or, their hair type just wasn't able

to sustain the treatment.

There's multiple things that could happen,

however, in my experience, no.

They do not cause hair loss.

I do not have any less hair

after getting a keratin treatment.

And my hair certainly did not fall out.

And I honestly put it back to,

trusting your hairdresser,

knowing that they're gonna do it properly,

because, like keratin treatments,

you can't just buy them from a supermarket.

You can't buy a keratin treatment and do it at home.

They're a proper process that needs to happen,

and a professional needs to do it.

The products are only available for salons to buy anyway,

and if a professional that doesn't

know what they're doing has it in their hands,

they can seriously fuck it up.

Which I'm guessing is why

people have had hair loss problems.

It's because it hasn't been done properly,

and it's very tedious to get done.

It takes ages.

Alrighty, and for the final question.

So, the final question is,

"Do keratin treatments cause damage?"

To my understanding and in my research,

no they do not.

They are totally opposite to

something like a chemical straighten.

They relax the hair bond.

They don't break it.

Chemical straightens break the bonds.

Keratin treatments relax it,

and wear off after time,

returning the hair to its natural state.

The only place that I can see damage

occurring with something like this

is the straightening after they,

to set the treatment, right.

So,

even going to the hairdresser as a rule of thumb,

if they straighten your hair,

they're risking damaging it.

Same with a keratin treatment.

When they put the keratin on,

they need to seal it by straightening it.

So, yes a straightener can be dangerous for hair.

So that is only,

that's the only real like way that I can see

it causing any damage to someone's hair.

Other than that,

like the hair returns back to its normal state

after three to four months,

or whenever your keratin treatment wears off.

And for me,

I don't feel like my hair is anymore damaged

than it was when I got the first one done.

So, yeah.

That's in my experience as well and in my research.

Alrighty guys,

so that is pretty much everything.

With my keratin treatment,

it's starting to wear off.

I'm actually so sad about it.

It's starting to get a little bit more fluffy.

I did straighten my hair for this set of videos.

Just cause I wanted it to look

a little bit nicer and slicker.

And I wanted to wear it out and show it off to you guys.

But yeah,

the keratin treatment is wearing off,

and I think I'm gonna be due for another one.

I'm kind of like addicted to it.

If you haven't watched my keratin video

where I actually went into the salon and got it done.

It was a really fun video that we did up,

very informative.

And I think paired with this one,

it can show you what the keratin treatment does,

like in the flesh.

And it can also give you all the details

that you need to know before you go and get one.

So, I hope you found it really helpful and educational.

It's a fun thing to get into.

(laughs)

And expensive.

But, honestly,

for the amount of time I save on doing my hair,

and, it actually gives me a little bit more confidence.

I go, cool, if I want to do that hairstyle I can.

I don't have to sit here for three hours.

You know what I mean?

Straightening it becomes easier.

I can wear it curly without freaking out.

Like, I'm all for it.

I love it.

And that's all I have for you.

So, I really hope you enjoyed this video.

Please let me know what you thought

in the comment section below.

And if you have had a keratin treatment before,

what brand do you use?

Is there formaldehyde in the one that your using?

Go and do your research.

And, what were your thoughts

of like the results on the keratin treatment?

That'd be interesting to know.

And if you have any more questions that I did miss,

we might have to do a 2.0 of this,

and I can answer more.

But I feel like I've covered everything

that I've seen no my channel,

and reporting back on the data.

So.

Enjoy your week.

(slurping)

God that's good.

Here's What Happens When You Hit a Deer - Duration: 5:41.

it's time for show-off Sunday where everyone has a chance to show off their

own car, and here's this week's winner, hi Scotty thanks for the introduction

my name is John and today I'm gonna be talking about my 2002 Chevy s10, right

now it has just over 170,000 miles on it, I am the I'm only the second owner and I

plan on maintaining it just as well as the original owner did

in May of 2016 I was driving one night it was pitch black, I was coming around the

curve it was on a minor highway around here, and suddenly in front of me was a

deer I had no time to react whatsoever, and I hit it head-on

going 55 miles an hour, and I pulled over and I got out and I couldn't believe the

destruction on that front end surprisingly the radiator wasn't leaking,

there were no flow fluids leaking, so I was able to get it to where I needed to

get it, and eventually got that the whole front clip replaced,

the radiator did have a hairline crack in it,

so we went ahead and replaced that too and my good friend of mine bill Dionne

who has a shop in Savannah Illinois called bloody knuckle repair, he did all

that work for me and did a fantastic job and so I got all set to paint it I had

it all primed on the front end, and realized you know why not just paint

the whole thing, not only for the matching issue but also because there

was a lot of rust here and there especially on the rear wheel wells

got a grinder and I got all that rust down to the surface, there were a few

places where there was pitting and tiny holes and I filled that in with bondo

and got it all sanded down, I put on the por-15 which is supposed to be a rust

inhibitor, also to seal it against oxygen and moisture and things like that, and it

seemed to do a really good job, I don't know if you can see very well I'm

sorry for all that salt on there that's just that's the reality of living around

here, the original plan was to paint it the

factory color which was a sandalwood metallic, and instead I decided to go

with this it's kind of a desert sand color

I forget the actual name of the paint, it was a Krylon you know rattle-can and

took about probably a dozen cans really to do it and I waited for days that

weren't too windy, and not a lot of dust and stuff like that flying around, and

then the black on the bottom is plastidip, and I'm really happy with the

way that came out, and that seems to have really sealed in and kept the rust from

popping out again, take a look at the inside it's in fairly good condition the

previous owner took really good care of it

there's some fading on the upholstery but other than that it's in very nice

shape, if you look at the dash it's a pretty simple layout, nothing too complicated

simple instrument cluster, there nothing more than what you need nothing less, CD

player it would make you think that it's got a carousel that you

could put six CDs in, well it doesn't it only fits one CD unfortunately, but

that's okay, very simple temperature controls, does

have the five-speed stick as you can see, it has the window cranks so no worrying

about whether or not a motor is going to burn out for the windows,

plus I have the extended cabs so I'll take a

look here in the back, and see it has the jump seat that folds down, my little guys

love riding back there, only one at a time of course

well that was this week's video and remember to have your car video

highlighted here on my channel, check this out

so if you never want to miss another one of my new car repair videos, remember

to ring that Bell!

The Something Navy Dress We've Been Waiting for Is Here and Under $100 - US News - Duration: 6:49.

There comes a time in all of our lives when a collection launches and we enter a new stage

Our fashion path becomes clearer and that much more fabulous, and we are ready to follow it without looking back

That's exactly what we'll be doing, especially with this versatile dress greeting us at the first step!  The Something Navy Side Slit Mididress is the easiest way to elevate our style we could imagine

Put it on and . . . done! Suddenly we're fashionistas. Sure, we can add shoes, but at that point, we can blindly pick a pair out of our closet and be confident we'll end up with "OOTD perfection

" This collection just dropped exclusively at , so be the first to wear it before it sells out!    This mididress is lightweight and breezy, swaying with airy charm as we walk or twirl

Yes, this dress has us twirling! Perhaps it's the side slits inspiring us. The button side seam lets us customize our look by opening up the skirt or closing it up just around the knee to let our legs peek through

The hem hits mid-calf, which is the perfect length to show that, sure, we're classy, but we always leave a little room for fun

If we want to keep the side seams unbuttoned, we can achieve a flawless boho look by slipping on a pair of skinny jeans underneath and topping it all off with a wide-brim straw hat resting on our head

Alternatively, we can button them all the way and go with bare legs or tights instead

It all just depends on the season! This dress is great for year-round wear; the final look just depends on how we accessorize it!  This Something Navy dress has a relaxed fit, but comes with an optional sash to tie around our waist if we want to add a cinched shape

This sash was made to match the dress' prominent topstitching, which is especially distinct on the black version

The dress' fabric is black, but the thin stitching is white and looks almost completely smooth until we zoom in to see the immaculate dot-like detail

The stitching lines the dress' V-neck, continuing down from the bottom of the V to the waist, where it perpendicularly intersects with horizontal stitching, which we can choose to layer with the sash if we prefer

The stitching also continues down the sides of the skirt, lining the hem as well

On the back, the stitching pattern is repeated, but since there is no V, the stitching instead lines a round neckline and starts up again to form horizontal lines across the shoulder blades

The stitching also makes an appearance on the wide, three-button cuffs at the ends of the sleeves

Because these cuffs are so wide, we can push them up ever-so-slightly to create a bishop sleeve effect! This beautifully complements the puffed shoulders, which lightly float atop our arms for a royal effect

Because this dress is understated in its exquisite allure, these shape-focused details really shine

If we're looking for the seams to be more subtle in our overall look, Ivory Dove might be the color for us

The stitching is the same color as the dress' angelic fabric, and we basically feel like heavenly beings when we put this shade on

We would wear this color anywhere, adding colorful shoes or trading out the sash for a contrasting belt, for example

We could also put on white, silver or gold boots or heels for an extremely elegant outfit for an engagement shoot, bridal shower or even a low-key wedding!  Something Navy's namesake label just recently launched and we are so impressed, but certainly not shocked

We wouldn't expect anything less from , the fashion-blogger-turned-designer who started her blog 10 years ago in 2009

What better way to celebrate a 10-year anniversary than with a collection of effortless silhouettes we feel like we've been waiting our entire lives for?  Sizes of this exclusive are already selling out, so don't wait up! Here We Go Dems Launch Investigation Moments After Trump Declares Nat'l Emergency - Duration: 3:29.

On Friday Afternoon, President Trump Announced He Was Officially Declaring A National Emergency

At The Southern Border In Order To Protect The American People.

The Democrat-Led House Judiciary Committee Immediately Opened An Investigation Into The

Emergency's Legitimacy.

From Washington Examiner: The House Judiciary Committee Will Investigate

President Trump's Declaration Of A National Emergency At The Border, Citing His Statement

Friday, "I Didn't Need To Do This, But I Would Rather Do It Much Faster."

Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., And Fellow Democrats Have Requested A Hearing

With Department Of Justice Officials And White House Counsel, Writing In A Letter To The

President, "We Believe Your Declaration Of An Emergency Shows A Reckless Disregard

For The Separation Of Powers And Your Own Responsibilities Under Our Constitutional

System."

"The House Judiciary Committee Is Commencing An Immediate Investigation Into This Matter,

Which Raises Both Serious Constitutional And Statutory Issues," The Letter Signed By

Nadler And Six Other House Democrats Said.

The ACLU Is Now Set To Challenge Trump's Decision, Also.

From Daily Wire: Following Trump's Rose Garden Announcement,

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Wasted Little Time In Announcing Its Plan

To Sue TheTrump Administration.

The ACLU Press Release Reads, In Relevant Part:

The ACLU Will Argue That President Trump's Use Of Emergency Powers To Evade Congressional

Funding Restrictions Is Unprecedented And That 10 U.S.C. § 2808, The Emergency Power

That Trump Has Invoked, Cannot Be Used To Build A Border Wall.

Congress Restricted The Use Of That Power To Military Construction Projects, Like Overseas

Military Airfields In Wartime, That "Are Necessary To Support" The Emergency Use

Of Armed Forces.

Many Conservative Legal Scholars Disagree With TheACLU's Analysis.

In Particular, John Eastman Of The Claremont Institute And John YooOf Berkeley Law And

The American Enterprise Institute, Each Of Whom Formerly Clerked On The U.S. Supreme

Court For Justice Clarence Thomas, Have Both Expressed Their Belief That President Trump's

National Emergency Is Being Enacted Declared Pursuant To Congress's Delegated Statutory

Authority.

There Is Also The Separate Threshold Question As To Whether The ACLU Would Even Have Proper

Standing To Sue, Under Article III Of The U.S. Constitution.

Washington Democrat Rep. PramilaJayapalWants America To Pay "Reparations" To Border

Crossers.

Rep. PramilaJayapal(D-WA) Said On Friday That The United States Government Should Pay Reparations

To Families That Were Separated After They Entered The United States Legally Or Illegally

And Faced Immigration Proceedings.

JayapalAppeared On MSNBC To Talk About Her Interaction With Acting Attorney General Matthew

Whitaker During A House Judiciary Hearing On Friday, Where She Asked Him About Family

Separations.

"Our Country Is Still Reeling From The Horror Of Family Separations That Occurred At The

Border,"JayapalSaid Ahead Of Questioning Whitaker.

Rep. PramilaJayapal Twitted.

I'm Proud Of My Passion, Mr. Whitaker.

We All Should Show Real Passion And A Real Commitment To Fixing What Was Done To These

Families And These Children.

This Is Lasting Trauma For Thousands Of Children—We Must Make Reparations.

By The Time Democrats Wake Up And Realize The Harm They Are Causing, It Will Be Too

Late.

L.A. has great weather, yet more homeless die of the cold here than in New York - Duration: 13:18.

John D. Brider was found passed out near a homeless shelter and taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where he later died

Brider, 63, had gone into cardiac arrest and oxygen had been cut off to his brain

But another, seemingly improbable, factor contributed to his death last winter: hypothermia, or loss of body heat, from being out in the cold, the Los Angeles County coroner's office ruled

Advertisement >  One of the abiding myths about Los Angeles is that homeless people come here from the East Coast or Midwest because at least they won't freeze to death

But despite L.A.'s typical sunshine and mild temperatures, five homeless people, including Brider, died of causes that included or were complicated by hypothermia in the county last year, surpassing San Francisco and New York City, which each reported two deaths

Over the last three years, 13 people have died at least partly because of the cold, the coroner's office said

And advocates worry that this cold, rainy winter will mean more fatalities.  Hypothermia has led to more deaths in L

A. than in colder regions because 39,000 homeless people here live outdoors — by far the most of any metropolitan area in the country

L.A.'s generally moderate Mediterranean climate is no shield, because hypothermia can set in at temperatures as high as 50 degrees, experts say

Going without a hat can drain up to half of a person's body heat, and wet clothing can intensify heat loss twentyfold, according to a 2007 report from the National Health Care for the Homeless Council

Underlying medical conditions, alcohol and drug use — including the use of psychiatric medications — mental illness and the privations of living outdoors intensify the risk

Brider, for example, tested positive for cocaine and had cancer of the throat and tongue, the coroner said

"Many people experiencing homelessness suffer from malnutrition and sleep deprivation, leading to some of them remaining out in the cold

Ultimately, sometimes they die," said Bobby Watts, the homeless council's chief executive

L.A.'s hypothermia cases, first reported in the Capital & Main online publication, are a tiny fraction of the overall homeless death toll, which climbed from 720 in 2016 to 900 last year

But hypothermia is a particularly appalling , and preventable, way to die.  "The idea that people froze to death is really horrible; it is a shared societal tragedy," said Jim O'Connell, founding director of the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, who researches hypothermia among homeless people

Cristal, 31, left, sits on a skid row sidewalk in downtown L.A. on a recent cold, rainy day

(Francine Orr / Los Angeles Times)  A spokesman for Mayor Eric Garcetti said the city and county had added 1,607 new shelter beds in a year and expanded outreach

The county's winter shelter program provides 1,200 extra beds from December to the end of March

"The number of emergency beds for our homeless neighbors has increased each year for the last three years," said spokesman Alex Comisar, "and we're doing more outreach than ever before to bring people inside during inclement weather

"  But although most cold-exposure deaths occur in the winter, Mark Stuart, 56, died of probable hypothermia on a Long Beach embankment in April 2016 — after the winter shelters shut down

O'Connell says hypothermia is a particular risk when the temperature drops more than 10 degrees over the course of the day, a common phenomenon in L

A.  Jonathan E. Sherin, director of the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, says homeless people with severe and persistent mental illness are in jeopardy of hypothermia

Over the last six to eight months, the county's specialized Homeless Outreach Mobile Engagement teams, with 30 staff members supported by a psychiatrist, have fanned out to remote encampments to find homeless people who need help, he said

"I wish it were happening more quickly," said Sherin, who hopes to double staffing in the next year or so

"It's our highest priority." Advertisement >  Some homeless people perished from the cold in public view

A 44-year-old man sat outside a business for two nights in January 2018 before someone inside the building called 911, the coroner reported

The man was taken to California Hospital Medical Center with a body temperature of 80

6 degrees and fed warm fluids. He died anyway.  Cold and rain are not the only weather conditions that are killing homeless people

The coroner reported six deaths in 2017 and 2018 involving hyperthermia, or abnormally high body temperatures, including three on the same sizzling hot day in July

Michelle Marie Williams, 53, was found outside an apartment complex in Winnetka with an elevated alcohol level and a body temperature of 105

9 degrees. Williams' forearm and thigh were burned, possibly by the sun, as she lay on the pavement for an undetermined period, the coroner said

But with the persistent rain this winter, hypothermia is the immediate concern

Winter shelters, which usually close by day, stay open around the clock during heavy multi-day storms

So on Wednesday, at the start of perhaps the biggest storm of the season, dozens of people milled around Hope for Home in Pomona, the county's newest shelter

The 16,000-square-foot fabric-shelter structure, which resembles a circus big top, hosts 200 winter-shelter and "crisis" clients a night, including disabled people, in cots and bunk beds

On Wednesday a young man on crutches gingerly picked his way through tightly spaced rows of cots, and a man with two prosthetic legs sat in a wheelchair

The shelter is still under construction, but when it is finished, it will have medical, mental health and drug treatment facilities on site, so homeless people don't have to run around for their appointments, director Reggie Clark said

Clark said his staff works to help clients overcome past experiences and challenges that have kept them out of shelters

"They might have trouble following rules and regulations," Clark said. "It's all about how we treat people

" A person sleeps at the Homeless Help Desk, a kiosk in downtown L.A. that provides people with access to information on nearby shelters

(Francine Orr / Los Angeles Times)  Before the shelter opened in December, Glenn Oura, 55, of West Covina, was caught in a rainstorm while sleeping in the bushes outside a big-box store where he had a seasonal job

Advertisement > "It was 40 degrees and the Santa Ana winds kicked up; I thought, 'If I die from hypothermia, how long will it take someone to find me?'" said Oura, an appliance installer and U

S. Air Force veteran who said he became homeless in June after his rent and child support were raised

Joey Robert Clayton, 54, also of West Covina, said he spent one recent night outside the shelter, beneath the overhang of the old Golden Ox, an abandoned fast-food restaurant in Pomona

"I froze my butt off all night long," said Clayton, a former house painter who said he worked as a concessions barker for Cirque du Soleil

"It was terrible." He was back in the shelter the next day.  Oura plans to buy a truck and get his old job back, and Clayton, who suffers from seizures, wants to get on disability and move out

Until then, they are grateful for their beds, despite the noise, crowding and nighttime odors that come with living cheek by jowl with 200 people

"It beats the alternative," Oura said. "There's still a lot of people a whole lot worse off

"

Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho asked about PSG Champions League defeat… here's what he said - Duration: 2:25.

Manchester United sacked Mourinho in December and, prior to Tuesday's Champions League showdown with PSG, had not lost a game since the 56-year-old's departure

The Red Devils went into that match unbeaten from their last 11 outings under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

However, PSG put Manchester United to the sword at Old Trafford, with goals from Presnel Kimpembe and Kylian Mbappe giving the Ligue 1 giants a key Champions League first leg lead

Jose Mourinho has now been asked whether he watched his former side in action. But the former United manager insisted he did not - because he prefers to watch other teams

Mourinho was asked: ""You watched United – PSG, what did you think of it?" He then replied: "No

" Shocked, the interviewer then said: "You watched the match right?" And Mourinho then admitted he didn't, adding: "No, it's hard for me to watch United, I prefer watching other clubs

"  United will be aiming to bounce back from the PSG humbling when they face Chelsea in the FA Cup at Stamford Bridge tonight (7

30pm). And Solskjaer has urged his team to respond. "Yes, you have to bounce back at this club," he said when asked about the mouthwatering tie

"You'll always have challenges, and away against Chelsea is one of the tougher challenges, so let's just make sure the next two or three days in training are good so we are ready for Monday

"We know there was a spell against PSG - seven, eight, nine or 10 minutes - where we lost our way a bit

"But apart from that, we weren't too bad defensively." United and Chelsea have already played once this season

And that game ended 2-2 with Ross Barkley scoring a late goal to earn Chelsea a Premier League point

Drew Brees is the NFL's most accurate quarterback, and once again proved he owns that title by leading the league with a 74

4% completion rate. That broke an NFL record Brees, himself, set in 2017. In fact, four of the five most accurate seasons in NFL history belong to the future Hall of Famer — with Sam Bradford's 2016 campaign breaking up Brees' monopoly the top of the leaderboard

If numbers aren't really your thing, here is some video proof that Brees is the NFL's most precise passer
