- I made this stool for when I'm sitting at my work bench

but then when I flip it over,

it turns in to a small stepladder.

Hey everybody, this is Justin from Remodelaholic,

welcome back to the channel.

I need a stool in my shop and I need a stepladder.

So, I was gonna combine the two in to a stepladder/stool,

just like you see right here in my little

sketch-up model that I created.

It's gonna be 24 inches tall,

it's gonna be about 17 and a half inches wide,

kind of wider on top,

but I just wanted a nice, wide base,

so when I flip it over it supports me.

It's simple design that I'm gonna use

with two by fours and two by twos.

So, I decided to see how much scrap wood I could find

around the shop to build this bench

without having to go to the store.

So, I'm gonna start by cutting my seat boards,

five of 'em, at 17 and a half inches.

(saw buzzes)

Next, I'm going to cut five boards at 13 and a half inches.

These will be the boards for the steps.

Set that up there.

Put my stop over here so I can cut 'em real fast.

(saw buzzes)

Now, I'm gonna cut out the legs at 22 and a half inches.

We have another video right here on our channel

that is pretty popular,

it's a Benjamin Franklin chair,

so it's got a little bit more advanced build to it,

but it flips over and you can step right up

and you reach high things.

I took the inspiration of that video

and I wanted to create something where you just

flip over the stool and

you don't have to have any additional hardware,

it's just two by fours, two by twos and some screws.

(saw buzzes)

I ran out of two by twos, so I'm just gonna rip this down

on the table saw

and make a two by two out of it.

I'll get four pieces.

(saw buzzes)

So, now with these last three two by twos,

I'm gonna cut six pieces out of them

at 13 and a half inches long.

(saw buzzes)

And these'll be the last six pieces that I need

for the sides.

(saw buzzing)

So here I have the seat,

the board for the steps,

the boards for the side rails,

and the legs.

I'm gonna build these steps first,

and then I'll assemble the seat with these two little

braces here,

and then I'll assemble all the legs.

Be sure to subscribe and ring the notification bell

so you don't miss any videos.

We have videos coming every week.

Give this video a thumbs up if you find it helpful.

(bouncy music)

So grab these two and half inch construction screws

that I'm gonna use, this one has the kind of star bit to it.

(drilling)

This is what I use the most around the shop,

so I'm just gonna use that.

I'm just gonna drill it together with screws,

it shouldn't take too long to make.

It's something that's gonna be in the shop,

and it doesn't have to look beautiful,

I just want it to function really well.

If you do want to see a nicer version of this that you

can put inside your kitchen, under a bar,

let us know in the comments below,

and if we get enough people that wanna see another version,

we'll put that video together.

(bouncy music)

(drilling)

'Kay, so there's the first step,

and the second step.

The seat is going to have a half an inch offset from the

sides,

and then I'm setting it one and three quarters of an inch

from the edge, and then I'll screw that in place.

(bouncy music)

(drilling)

So, this is the bottom of the leg here,

I'm gonna mark up four inches,

this'll be a step,

and then from this four inches,

I actually need to go 10 inches to the next step

which is 14.

So not that one, but here and here.

(clattering)

then this will be up against the seat.

Got the legs on the table,

I've got the steps right here.

The small one, the large one,

and then right here will be the seat.

So I set up a fence on the table so that when I'm

drilling, it'll be easier just to drill in this way,

and have something to push up against.

I'm using my impact driver to be able to drive this

really long screw in so it'll hold real tight.

(drilling)

(bouncy music)

Alright, so here's the stool,

the design that I modeled and sketch up,

and I realized there's a problem with it.

'Cuz I went to sit on it and the sides were starting to

buckle.

So you can see,

there's not enough support to keep this from

swaying back and forth.

So what I'm gonna do to fix that is just put a two by four

right here, in this area.

So that should be enough to keep the stool from

wanting to buckle.

So, if I could add thirteen and a half inch two by four,

screw it in in four spots,

two on each side, I think that'll keep it from moving.

(drilling)

So, looks like that added piece,

that's what it needed to give it some more support

so it didn't get out of square.

So it fits really nice underneath the bench there,

just take it out when I need it.

Now I can get to the top shelf.

Took me only a couple of hours to build,

I didn't have to buy anything because I had all this lumber

in my shop just waiting for a project.

So, here it is.

Make sure you check out this video here,

about how I'm organizing the shop.

Thanks for watching and we'll see you in the next video.

You Were Never Really Here - How to show Trauma - Duration: 10:03.

I want to you to listen to something [sound of fire works]

The sound of fireworks... but let's take away the lights for now.

The sound seems pretty normal and familiar but after hearing it for while,

the sporadic bursts and crackling combustions begin to form an invisible nuisance.

What if I asked you to listen to this for an hour or a day or a week?

Every where you went to and even when you had to go to sleep, forced to even find it

in your dreams...

It would become unbearable and exhausting.

How would you be able to go about your day.

Your normal tasks and interactions would be greatly affected.

It's as if you're living in a disorienting reality apart from everyone else.

Always on edge...At the mercy of the next destabilizing POP... hoping for a moment of

silence.

While preparing to make the film You Were Never Really Here,

director Lynne Ramsay gave a recording of fireworks to Joaquin Phoenix to prepare him

for his role.

It's an interesting way to introduce someone to the mindset of a person afflicted by a

traumatic event.

Trauma is a relentless and constant assailant that can intrude in all aspects of a person's

life.

It's an invisible aggressor with the power of reminding you that it can break you whenever

it wants and that even time has difficulty of silencing

it.

So how do we show something that likes to remain hidden like trauma?

In today's video we will examine how Lynne Ramsay manages to portray a character suffering

from PTSD without addressing it.

[ Phone Beep] - It's done

You Were Never Really Here is a surreal and lean character study that succeeds in giving

us access to the broken mind of Joe, a war veteran turned hammer wilding hitman

that saves girls from the seedy underworld of child prostitution.

An imposing beast of a man, heavily masking his past traumas.

He's been recently hired by a senator to find his kidnapped daughter Nina.

-McCleary said you were brutal

-I can be

When we first meet Joe, he's presented to us in pieces:

His face deformed under a plastic bag, his younger self, his hands,

a string of tightly shot questionable actions, his lower body moving out of a room, his POV

avoiding being seen, his silhouette exiting a hotel and his features

being obscured by his hood and the darkness of the night in the alley.

It mirrors how throughout the movie we never get a full picture of who Joe is (or any of

the other characters).

We only get fragments.

Lynne Ramsay has a measured approach to handing out information like a faint trail of breadcrumbs.

Little by little, the pictures and the limited dialogue give us only a need to know basis

of the character's background and relationships with each other...

ultimately forming a puzzle with lost pieces.

Even the action follows this pattern by hiding the violence and focusing on the brutal aftermath...

which parallels Joe...He's a walking aftermath of trauma.

The curious thing is that we never have the main character come out and say it.

He never mentions it to anyone, and it never comes up from any other character.

Nor does anyone seem to be aware of it.

What Ramsay does is show us the scars and the alarming actions.

We only catch glimpses of how he got this way, but we're withheld an explanation.

It causes us to pay attention to the visual language she uses so we can fill in the blanks

ourselves.

Usually, the easiest way to show someone dealing with trauma would be to have them verbalize

it, but that wouldn't be realistic.

People don't just willfully say that they have a problem.

Sure, we see it in movies all the time for dramatic effect and to advance the plot

but, most people are bad at communicating, especially about things they are not ready

to come to terms with.

Most of the time people won't even admit to themselves that something isn't right or that

they need help.

Especially someone as emotionally ill-equipped like Joe.

They might lack the tools necessary to exteriorize it

and if they did, they might be afraid of being judged or feel ashamed to share something

so intimate as: I don't want to be here anymore.

-Joe?

-Yeah...?

For Joe, this feeling is a daily struggle and Lynne Ramsay does a great job of showing

how routine it is in his life.

She has a very particular way of representing it on the script.

INT.

JOE'S BEDROOM, MOTHER'S HOUSE - DAY.

Joe sits upright on a chair that he's dragged into the open doorway of the walk-in cupboard.

DRY CLEANING covers hang by his head.CLOSE ON - Joe's feet.

His shoelaces are untied.

He uses one foot to lever off a shoe.

He places a socked foot onto the floorboards ahead of him - the floorboard creaks as he

places his weight.

A bare patch of skin above Joe's sock reveals an old but pronounced scar.

Joe has a belt looped around his neck,

the end of the belt is looped over a clothing rail...he pulls tightly on the belt.

This alarming description starts in a very mundane way.

We begin picturing Joe, sitting down at an open doorway... so far, it's okay...

she mentions the dry-cleaning covers hanging by his head...still normal...Ramsay details

his feet ...the floor boards, a scar... this could all be descriptive information

but then she inadvertently reveals: Joe has a belt looped around his neck.

She purposely lets us know the most important part of the scene at the end and in the following

excerpt as well: INT.

JOE'S BEDROOM, MOTHER'S HOUSE - LATER

Joe sits on the edge of the bed, he is wearing jeans and

sleeveless T-shirt,

his hands wrapped around his own neck, pressure applied to his throat, his face, beat red.

She starts by presenting the idle aspects of the scene, burying the lede with how Joe

is currently suffocating himself and it's done in a cold mechanical way without

urgency or build-up.

This word placement is meant for you to imagine the jarring bit of information last.

Because in this situation, the fact the character is committing self-harm, is treated like an

afterthought.

The closet scene goes unaddressed and it's followed up by a tender yet uneventful moment:

Late afternoon sun.

Joe & his Mother are sat across the corner of the dining

table.

Open in front of them is a large mahogany CUTLERY CASE.

They are both engrossed in polishing its contents.

Joe's mother sings "A you're adorable" as they clean, they both sign out each letter

of the alphabet.

The tonal shift creates a contrast that feels out of place but for the character both scenes

are ordinary... because this is his reality.

It's like walking a constant tight rope.

You have moments where the traumatic noise can be faint and others where it's completely

unbearable, but the thoughts are always there.

[Voices in his head] The most significant manner the director shows

the affliction of trauma is how the narrative is tailor made to the main character's psyche.

We get to be inside Joe's fractured mind.

We see how he struggles to make sense of his reality because he's living simultaneously

in the past and in the present.

His body is here but at any second, he can be brought back into a moment of trauma and

anything can set him off.

Like tapping on the steering wheel of a car, randomly being asked to take a picture or

just staring into empty space.

A look, a feeling, a smell or a sound can immediately transform him into a helpless

child.

These invasive memories disorient the character and the soundtrack follows his instability.

We can notice the background music unusually skipping time and stopping.

When Joe manages to save Nina, we hear a stable and even calming tone...It's light, warm and

reassuring but it erupts into a broken mess once she's

taken away from him.

It's a cacophony of sound and emotion.

-obviously a kid that uhm grew up with a lot of trauma and um

always felt he couldn't protect himself or others

so there's obviously this need as you grow older to become as powerful as

you possibly could right... and yeah when we meet him in his kind of later

days he's middle aged so a lot of that has gone

away...

- At the end of the movie, Joe reaches the mansion

were Nina is being kept.

Hammer in hand, he quickly brings down all the security detail (offscreen) and makes

his way to her room.

As he enters for the final confrontation...he finds the villain is already dead and Nina

is nowhere to be seen...

We cut back to Joe, the shock fades from his face and gives way to a gamut of emotions.

He laughs, he cries, he is full of rage, he is exhausted, he falls apart.

There is nothing left of Joe.

His internal taunts are revived at a deafening volume:

Nina didn't need his protection, he couldn't save his mother, his employer, the girls in

the truck, the girl in the dessert... he couldn't help any of them.

He surrenders to the murky depths of his mind.

No matter the effort...no matter the progress he keeps getting pulled under.

We see the thin barrier holding the past and the present erode.

He can no longer distinguish between them because they both feel painfully real.

He finds himself opening doors to old wounds reminding him of one thing...

He's powerless He's still that defenseless boy from so many

years ago.

Joe wanted to be the hero, he wanted to save the girl, he wanted to have the climatic boss

fight and maybe go out in a blaze of glory.

But Lynne Ramsay's focus is not on the hero aspect...

This story isn't about getting revenge...

It's about the unseen constant struggle with an overpowering internal threat that distorts

you from the inside out.

You see this is the story about an exhausted man...

Trying to find a reason to stay.

-Its okay Joe -Its okay...

Here's What You Really Need To Know About Susan Boyle - Duration: 3:56.

Susan Boyle rose to fame out of nowhere after appearing on Britain's Got Talent in 2009,

but how much do you really know about this vocal powerhouse?

Let's take a look at some facts about her you may have missed.

For professional singers in the United Kingdom, there are few venues more prestigious than

London's Royal Albert Hall.

The historic building has been the setting for the celebrated Proms concerts each year

since 1941, and it frequently holds concerts that play music from movies like the James

Bond and Harry Potter series.

The classy spot has also hosted performances by many legendary singers, like Kylie Minogue

for her lively Christmas concert series, A Kylie Christmas.

In 2013, Boyle herself took to the stage among the greats.

Her setlist included the Christmas carol "In the Bleak Midwinter," and her voice was as

powerful as always.

The night was unforgettably special for performer and audience alike as Boyle kept everybody

captivated.

In 2012, Boyle learned that she had Asperger syndrome.

That was followed by a major health scare when a doctor diagnosed her with type 2 diabetes

in 2014.

This led her to completely overhaul her lifestyle.

In an interview with The Mirror, she listed some treats that she had cut out of her diet.

"Cakes, sweeties, anything harmful.

Eat a lot of fruit now."

Boyle subsequently dropped a massive two stone, which is about 30 pounds.

She now gets plenty of cardio in by walking two miles every day.

She also explained to The Mirror how her faith helps her to keep things in perspective, especially

when challenges threaten to drag her mood down.

Boyle has struggled to find the right romantic partner, but she continues to be infatuated

with her chosen career.

In a 2016 interview with The Telegraph, she confirmed she'd signed another three-album

deal, enthusing,

"I'm raring to go, doing what I love."

Looking ahead to the future, she noted confidently,

"The old Susan did plenty of daft things; the new Susan's more confident, adult, and

patient."

In December 2018, a news piece suggested that 2019 would signal Boyle's comeback, a full

decade after audiences first fell in love with the Scottish singer.

The Irish Mirror quoted a source close to her as noting,

"This is a big year for Susan, and she is very much stepping back into the limelight."

Simon Cowell was reportedly instrumental in her return.

For his part, the reformed Mr. Nasty told Variety in August 2018 that he really regrets

how he initially treated Boyle when she first appeared on Britain's Got Talent.

Considering how proud she is of her homeland, it makes sense that Boyle was inducted into

the Scottish Music Hall of Fame.

She was given the honor in December 2018, as the SSE Scottish Music Awards show marked

its 20th anniversary with a massive celebration in Glasgow.

Boyle opened the celebration with a rendition of The Rolling Stones song "Wild Horses."

Writing on Instagram, the singer expressed what the event meant to her personally, as

a performer.

She gushed,

"I am thrilled to be performing at this year's SSE Scottish Music Awards, and to be opening

the show is fantastic.

The Scots are one of the best audiences in the world, so being in my home country on

the SEC stage will be wonderful.

I'm so incredibly honored and speechless that I will be inducted into the Scottish Music

Hall of Fame."

Boyle kicked off her 2019 in style with a much-hyped appearance on America's Got Talent:

The Champions.

After performing "Wild Horses" once again, she was awarded the coveted Golden Buzzer.

After being embraced on stage by host Terry Crews, she said through tears of joy that

she was "happy and very humbled."

In a pre-taped package earlier in the show, she revealed,

"Britain's Got Talent absolutely changed my life.

Before Britain's Got Talent, people saw me as somebody quite ordinary."

On why she returned to Champions, Boyle was characteristically upfront, explaining,

"I think I'm a champion for those who maybe don't have the confidence to do things, for

those who maybe don't have a voice.

The ones who people tend to ignore."

Writing on Instagram, Boyle gushed about how thrilled she was to be invited onto the show

and to perform for Cowell again:

"The crowd's reaction was unbelievable and to then have the golden buzzer… well I was

truly speechless."

I reported the news in print and online. Here's the difference. | Jill Abramson - Duration: 7:08.

The expectation of really all people now is that they're going to know what happened the

instant it happens.

And that's great when the information is accurate.

I think the downside of just so many stories circulating at any given microsecond is that

people feel somewhat overwhelmed by news and it's hard to focus your attention on what

stories are most important when they're exploding at you.

Usually now reporters break their stories on Twitter before they've even written a finished

story.

First, that nuance and perspective and analysis can be completely lost in that first quick

and dirty version.

But worse, there can be big factual mistakes which has contributed to the very low trust

numbers that all news media companies have right now, which is very distressing to me

because it opens the door for President Trump to rant about fake news and call journalists

the enemies of the people, when they're like the heroes of the people, because they risk

their lives to dig out the information that is vital for people to know.

When I started as a reporter, in the Stone Age of course, the newsroom was I always thought

it would be like Jimmy Olsen and Superman, and that you'd hear typewriters clacking and

people shouting.

And I was surprised at how quiet at least the Wall Street Journal's newsroom in Washington

was.

And there was no internet at that point.

And the rhythm of the day was usually in the morning and through the afternoon, you were

out reporting.

You were finding sources, going to hearings, meeting secretly with people who might give

you documents.

And really you only got around to writing your story at about 6:00 PM.

And the deadline, you could set your watch by it every night, was around 9:00 because

the rhythm of newspapering was completely governed by when the presses rolled.

And they only rolled once a day unless the Earth blew up and then you stop the presses

and replayed it.

But it was a slow pace.

And the Journal, when I joined up, didn't even have a weekend paper.

So Friday, it was really an easy day because the next paper was Monday.

And that all changed in the late 1990s with the advent of the internet.

And the Wall Street Journal was one of the first newspapers to create an online version

of itself.

And that meant that the printing presses didn't figure into when your story went up.

Although in the early years, it was ridiculous, it was true at The Times, too – we maintained

that same schedule of just doing one final story a day at night and then having it posted

on the web, for years.

But the advent of social media completely changed that.

And what had become a much faster pace where at The Times we were posting early versions

of any important story on NYTimes.com.

And with social media it was the instantaneous report.

Like, get something up on social media to begin attracting the eyeballs before you even

have a story up on the website.

That began to actually scare me when I became Washington bureau chief of The Times, and

the Supreme Court had just – it was night time – decided Bush v Gore decided what

would happen next, if anything, and who would be president.

And the instant TV analysis on CNN and other cable outlets was wrong.

And Linda Greenhouse, she was The Times' totally experienced, brilliant Supreme Court reporter,

rushed back to the office.

She had read the decision in a cab.

And the first thing she said to us when she arrived was, turn off the TV.

Because she knew they were blathering idiocy.

And then she told us, it was over.

Bush won.

And that night so stuck in my mind.

And roll the cameras forward to the decision on Obamacare, when I was executive editor.

I wasn't calling the Washington bureau to say: 'Have that story first.

The second there is a decision, I want it up."

I was worried about the opposite.

I was worried about a repeat of that Bush v Gore night.

And my instructions were: Until the Supreme Court reporter and the Washington bureau chief

call me and say they're sure and it was, you remember, a close decision we are not putting

anything up.

And if quite a bit of time goes by, we'll clue in readers that we're reporting the story

for them.

But we're not going to do a quick draw McGraw.

Gordon Banks Pele save: WATCH Gordon Banks AMAZING Pele save here - Duration: 4:13.

England World Cup goalkeeper Gordon Banks has died in his sleep aged 81, it was announced today

In a statement, his family said: "It is with great sadness that we announce that Gordon passed away peacefully overnight

We are devastated to lose him but we have so many happy memories and could not have been more proud of him

" In December 2015, it was announced he was receiving treatment for kidney cancer

Banks is widely regarded as one of England's greatest players of all time having racked up an impressive 73 caps after making his debut in 1963

The former goalkeeper is best known for being part of Alf Ramsey's squad which secured England's glorious World Cup final win over West Germany in 1966

Four years on from that memorable moment at Wembley, Banks was in action for the Three Lions at the World Cup in Mexico

And at the Estadio Jalisco in Guadalajara he made one of the most iconic saves in football history as he denied Brazil hero Pele

WATCH THE PELE SAVE HERE:  Banks acrobatically flung himself to his right after seeing Pele meet a Jairzinho cross from the right wing with his head

And the Stoke stopper somehow managed to prevent the seemingly goal-bound effort from crossing the line, turning the ball over the bar

Banks was immediately congratulated by England team-mates Alan Mullery and Bobby Moore as fellow defender Brian Labone looked on in disbelief

But, not one to seek praise and dwell on his accomplishment, Banks dusted himself down and got ready for the subsequent Brazil corner

England were ultimately knocked out of the World Cup by West Germany in the following round

However, their campaign brings back warm memories for fans due to the incredible nature of Banks' save

Banks, who passed away at the age of 81 on Monday night, later reflected on the save as the standout moment of his career

"They won't remember me for winning the World Cup," Banks said. "It will be for that save

" BBC commentary legend John Motson remembers Banks' save from Pele vividly. "The memorable moment was the amazing save by Gordon Banks, when Pele produced this powerful header that bounced down into the ground and was screaming back up towards the top corner," Motson said

"Banks somehow propelled himself across the goal and tipped the ball up and over the bar

"I remember hearing David Coleman's commentary on the television highlights later

"'What a save, Gordon Banks,' he gasped, almost as though he couldn't believe what he'd just seen

Neither could the rest of us, by the way. "When I went to Mexico in 1986 I was sent to Guadalajara to do a match and the first thing I did when I walked into the stadium was grab somebody and ask which end Banks made that save so I could picture it as it happened

New Detective Pikachu footage here to remind us that real-life Pokémon are the frickin' worst [Video - Duration: 2:40.

Just when we'd thought we'd fully acclimated to the world of the upcoming Detective Pikachu—what with its coffee-asshole yellow rats, fire-breathing murder dragons, and the upsetting, almost-human thing that is Mr

Mime—the Ryan Reynolds vehicle had to unleash a new bit of footage, just to remind us all that a world with real-life Pokémon would be really fucking gross

Most of the footage in this new TV spot is old hat, so we'll direct you right to the bit that had our flesh crawling

It's at 12 seconds in, when we get our first look at this universe's version of that old Pokémon reliable, Lickitung

Or, even better: Here, have a GIF of hell unfurling.  Look, we know that "big gross tongue" is kind of Lickitung's thing—it is "The Licking Pokémon," after all

But still, we can only imagine the film's animators arguing about this particular addition to its universe

"Wetter," one of them whispers, daring the universe to strike them down with some sort of cosmic human resources strike

"The tongue needs to be so much wetter."  Detective Pikachu invites us into its nightmare on May 10

BTS~Still here (Fanmade) - Duration: 4:28.

Musing your memories

Losing my grip in the grey

Numbing the senses

I feel you slipping away

Fighting to hold on

Clinging to just one more day

Love turns to ashes

With all that I wish I could say

I'd die to be where you are

I tried to be where you are

Every night

I dream you're still here

The ghost by my side

So perfectly clear

When I awake

You disappear

Back to the shadows

With all I hold dear

With all I hold dear

I dream you're still here

I dream you're still here

Hidden companion

Phantom be still in my heart

Make me a promise

That time won't erase us

That we were not lost from the start

I'd die to be where you are

I tried to be where you are

Every night

I dream you're still here

The ghost by my side

So perfectly clear

When I awake

You disappear

Back to the shadows

With all I hold dear

With all I hold dear

I dream you're still here

Every night I dream you're still

Every night I dream you're still

Here

Ever slightly out of reach

I dream you're still here

But it breaks so easily

I try to protect you

I can't let you fade

I feel you slipping

I feel you slipping

Away

Every

Night

I dream you're still here

The ghost by my side

So perfectly clear

When I awake

You disappear

Back to the shadows

With all I hold dear

With all I hold

dear

I dream you're still here

I dream you're still here

Every night I dream you're still

Every night I dream you're still

Here

I dream you're still here

Every night I dream you're still

Every night I dream you're still

Ever slightly out of reach

I dream you're still here

Every night I dream you're still

Every night I dream you're still

But it breaks so easily

Royal Kids - Here's the reason why Princess Charlotte is always pictured wearing dresses - Duration: 1:59.

You might have noticed that Princess Charlotte is always wearing dresses and to be honest, we can't remember ever seeing her wear trousers or cute little dungarees

However, it turns out there's a rather specific reason for that and it's all down to a decision made by the Duchess of Cambridge, mother of Charlotte, George and Louis

It's thought that the reason for the choice of clothes, shorts for George and dresses for Charlotte, is because they are traditional choices and therefore 'timeless' in photos

Although one could argue that these outfits are dated, they're certainly traditional and it has to be noted that the royals do follow a specific dress code

However, it's believed that the children have casual clothes when they're at home and the shorts and dresses are what they wear when going to events, in keeping with the formality of the occasion

Prince George has been pictured in a number of outfits from childrenswear designer, Rachel Riley and she previously spoke about how her designs are suited for formal occasions

In conversation with The Telegraph, Rachel said:  She continued:   We're celebrating Valentine's Day on Girls With Goals  this week! Don't forget you can catch up on all episodes on Spotify now

Mamas! You Need a Break!| Here's Why!| - Duration: 7:39.

Mama Mia! Yeah no for real though moms you need a break!

Here's why! All right friends are you new here?

If so welcome to my channel! Thank you for coming and watching and seeing these

videos I do videos on mental health on mommy hood on depression and anxiety and

I'm a mommy and a veteran and a wife and a friend so um thanks for coming here to

gain a little bit of my brain in my world so um if you're a returning member

thanks you're coming back tirelessly thank out give this video

like if you liked it um click subscribe if you like other

videos and you want to continue seeing my videos and if you want to be alerted

when new videos pop up click the little bell icon and it will like just like pop

up on your phone saying that I have done a new video

it won't like send you a text or anything crazy like that it just pops up

like if you have a facebook notification it pops up so that's it click the bill

if you want to know when it'll blue so ok moms this video is for you I too am a

mom and have a struggled with this often so um we need a break right like we all

need a break and what holds us back so often from having a break is the guilt

and the shame the guilt being I just feel bad leaving my kids I miss my kids

that's guilt the shame being I'm a terrible mom I don't know how to take

care of my kids or I don't have the energy to take care of my kids so I'm

leaving them with somebody else that's shame that's the shame speakin so um

both of those are things that can be work worked through work through

but I will touch on that on another day I have a video on guilt and shame I will

um there's like a little banner that's going across right up here xìng xìng

xìng xìng xìng and that is the link to the guilt and shame video and what the

difference is between the two and what to do about it so click that link if you

would like to pop over to that video to first understand what guilt and shame is

about but back onto mommy bricks so it is so easy to feel bad about having a

break but we are our best selves when we have a break and take care and can take

care of ourselves so I always think of it as like this hierarchy this pyramid

like this and at the very top level of the pyramid one and only one thing can

be there this is gonna cause controversy that one and only one thing that can be

there is you you pyramid top one you it has to be if we are not our best self

we cannot give our best self to anybody else okay if at the top of this pyramid

is a broken Brittany and right underneath are my husband and my kids

they're going to get a broken Brittany it's true so we have to make sure that

we as mommies as human beings as wife's as people as as us are our best because

whatever we're giving to the people that are underneath in this pyramid is gonna

be a reflection of this okay and there's nobody in this whole world that cannot

ever have a break for themselves and still function at the highest level

because above all we are human beings we have needs and desires and loves and

aspirations that need to be fulfilled to make us our best self and explored and

on top of that not only to be our best self to be able to care for our kids do

we need a break but also when we take a break from our

kids we are teaching our kids what health looks like so for all of y'all

who have daughters I'm gonna start there for all y'all who have daughters how bad

do you want them to grow up and for them to say I can never take a break I always

have to be around my kids because that's the only way I can be a good mom

crickets right nobody nobody wants that we all want our daughters to be able to

love themselves have themselves find themselves while being able to parent

and if we as moms don't ever take a break for ourselves what are we showing

our daughters about caring for families so you don't get breaks when we mommies

are like hey sweet babies Mama's gonna have some time with friends Mama's gonna

maintain a healthy life balance because I'm gonna be proactive and taking care

of myself instead of reactive that teaches our kids the same thing for boys

and I separate it like this not because it's always like this seriously if you

guys been watching my videos you know I'm not black and white like that well

sometimes I'm like I'm white but I'm not black and white like that about this

stuff gender roles all that stuff I'm not black and white about but so take

this for face value okay like don't think too deep into this because I know

that these gender roles can change and I'm cool with that

but for our boys if we have boys who live in like the more traditional

household where for the most part the moms have the kid duty and dad helps out

a little bit or dad helps out a lot of it dad helps out in every way he can

dad's an amazing additional parent where co-parenting is at its greatest we want

our boys know that boys get time out of the house

that boys get to live their dreams of who they are that boys don't have to be

inside the house all day either that we too want them to be good and successful

that they too when our little boys grow up that they should expect that they get

to live their hopes and dreams while having a family and they too get to

support their wife in living her dreams and having a family

so wit mamma's we need brakes we need brakes so we don't go crazy we

need brakes so we can love ourselves and find ourselves and remember who we are

because one of the biggest things that happens with mommies is we have babies

and guess what we do we lose that self we moves ourself as babies grow up we

struggle for them to leave because they've been our identity and we forgot

who we were so please mamas take your brakes

remember who you are continue to find and explore who you are

put yourself in the best possible position you can on your pyramid to be

the best possible person you can be by being preventative instead of

reactive with taking your breaks and no one who you are have a good day guys
