what's up everybody this is lyle with no hippie BBQ whatever you doing today is

gonna be some pan-seared swordfish aka Swordfish au Poivre and a brandy cream sauce

anyway I'm following a recipe from the famous Chef Eric Ripert I saw this

recipe and figured it was something that I had to do anyway let's come on in take

a look at these ingredients and we'll be knocking it out here's the ingredients

we're working with I have our swordfish steaks here and I am trying to get this as dry

as possible get as much moisture out of the swordfish as I can we have some salt some

pepper I have some more coarse ground green peppercorns some lemon juice

capers now this is my addition to this recipe he did not have that in his some

butter some brandy I'm happy to be rolling with the E&J on that brandy and

we have some heavy cream anyway first thing I'm gonna do is get these

swordfish fillets kind of our swordfish steaks trimmed up so let's start with

that press this swordfish steak goes if you look in here you see a lot of this

brown and appetizing looking scenario going on I'm just going to kind of come

down here we're gonna trim this off and then we're just going to kind of round

this off right here and this is not going to go to waste

my dogs I'm sure will love this so this is just more of an appearance thing that

it is anything else and we are cutting off that skin there as well

all right you're good to go think that's about it let me cut off this skin I'm

gonna go ahead and get this pan heated up and we'll start cooking

all right guys while our skillet is coming up to temperature we're just

going to go ahead and hit it with some salt and pepper and that's really all

we're gonna do nothing fancy on this one

alright guys I have my skill in a medium-high heat I'm using avocado oil

and the recipe that inspired me they use canola oil I believe either will be fine

let's go ahead and sear these up on both sides two minutes the side

alright guys that's two minutes to split and flip it over do another two minutes

on that side alright that is two minutes on this side let's get a clean plate

just gonna sit this off to the side and I'm gonna actually wipe this pan out

we'll start our next steps step we're gonna go ahead get some butter in here a

little bit of this peppercorn and we have our paper without his you and cook

this down to a minute alright guys that is good to go let's go ahead and add

some of this brandy in

see if we can light this up right quick I let that alcohol burn off right quick

now that that alcohol is burning off we're going to go ahead and add some

heavy cream to it

our lemon juice

some salt

and we're just gonna let this cook for about three minutes to reduce so this

sauce is thickened up real nicely what I'm gonna do now is I'm going to go

ahead and cut this swordfish up and get ready for our taste test

so that is a wrap right there time to get in and see what I think about this I

kind of paired this with just some roasted vegetables some tomatoes

zucchini onions stuff like that

okay I'm gonna tell you this is some good stuff

I can see rocking this out with like some tuna you know I can almost see

doing this with beef as well you know what this is a very flexible recipe up I

think I am gonna try it with those two just to see how it turns out anyway you

know I'm about to take another bite I'm not gonna do that I'm just gonna thank

So here's my story.

I was diagnosed with a really rare form of leukemia so they began to test siblings.

My own sister wasn't a close enough match.

So they went to this international registry called Be the Match and on this nine million

person international registry there was only one person on the planet who could save me

of my disease.

Can you tell me just a little bit about your story and why this is important to you?

I had just gotten off tour and I got a phone call from my sister and she's like "Yo I got

some bad news about mom.

She has cancer and they found some blasts, they called it, in her blood."

They started looking on Be the Match and they weren't able to find anyone that matched what

she needed.

So, they had to go an alternative route.

Then I was just like I wanna use my platform to tell people about my mom and what she's

going through and that something as simple as getting a cotton swab...

That's it!

You know, they can have your information and DNA information for use for somebody else

who needs what you have.

It's so easy to give and I was like man I wanna let as many people know about this as

possible.

You know, you can make cancer disappear if enough people just knew.

Cancer affects everyone.

You know what I'm saying?

If you don't have it or have someone in your family, you know someone who does and usually

it's just a case of when will you know somebody directly or yourself have it.

Those are the moments...

We don't really think about that when we're going through life.

We just kind of don't think it will happen to us or don't think it will happen to someone

we love or hoping it doesn't.

I think this is a proactive step to get people signed up and get people aware of what's happening

so that we can help each other as a planet.

We're here at our LA location.

In just a couple of weeks all the kids are going to start going back to school.

We have invited one of the local scout troops to come here

and they're going to design their very own backpacks.

As you can see behind me, we have lots of markers and paper.

They're going to hang out with our design services team

and they're going to doodle and draw whatever they want.

We're going to take that and then turn it into their very own backpack

that they're going to get to keep.

It's going to be really cool, so I hope you'll enjoy this.

This is my dog Shortie. He gets very shy.

I got a panda,

a mermaid

and my whole family.

I made a Christmas tree and a unicorn.

Our design member Eric scanned the images of all the little sketches.

Those images were then sent to me

and I worked in a combination of Photoshop and Illustrator.

I would take it into Photoshop in the beginning,

just because that's the program I'm the most comfortable with.

I would do a rough removal of the background in the beginning, in Photoshop manually.

Then I would take it into Illustrator where I would then do an image trace on it.

That would allow me to separate the actual sketched portions of the drawing.

Then whatever I thought would work for the pattern the best

I just separated that and put that on a separate layer

within the design template for the backpacks.

Easy Jewelry Tutorial: How To Make Chain Tassel Earrings - Duration: 5:14.

To make the chain tassel earrings we've got silver wire.

It's 26 gauge, which is very fine. And we've got chain. We have 18 inches of 2 millimeter wide chain.

It has a very open loop.

It's big enough, each of these links, that we can fit a piece of this 26-gauge wire through it and that's important.

We have two silver beads.

They have a little bit bigger hole than a regular

bead so that we can fit two pieces of the wire through the hole in the bead.

We have two silver earring wires.

And then for tools we're going to use round-nose pliers, and we're also going to use wire cutters and we have a ruler.

The first thing we want to do is cut the chain into one-inch pieces.

So what I'm going to do is lay the chain out on the ruler and

what I like to do is just pick a one-inch section like from the 5 to the 6 and

pull the chain straight

so that it's right at that 5 start and then the finish is right at the 6 and

it's laying all flat and then take the wire cutters

and what I like to do is reach down from the top and just cut one of those links.

That's how you cut chain into pieces.

So by breaking that one link now, I have a 1 inch piece of

chain. And

then I'm just going to do that again. And we are going to lose a little bit of length

but we lose the same amount on every piece by cutting that last link. I just reached down in there and

snap it and

pull that chain apart.

So you can see these are the little links that I've broken.

But that's exactly how you cut chain.

I've cut the chain into 16 pieces.

Each one is 1 inch long and I have 8 of them here to make one of the earrings. So

I've got my 8 little pieces of chain and I cut a piece of the 26-gauge wire.

It's about a three or four inch piece and I'm just going to bend it into a little bit of a hairpin shape.

Like that. And

then what I want to do is I want to feed the last link of each piece of chain

onto this little hairpin.

We're just going to pick up each

piece of chain and feed it on.

And this is how we're gonna make our tassel. And you could use a little bit bigger chain than this.

What you don't want to do is get chain though that's so fine or small

that you can't fit the wire through.

So as long as you can put the wire through the chain,

you can try to make a tassel with it.

If it's a very fat wire, you might want to make the tassel longer so that it stays proportional.

So here's our last link of our last piece and

they're all on our hairpin and we're going to press that hairpin together tightly.

And we're gonna feed both of these wires up through this bead.

This is why we wanted our

silver bead to have a little bit of a bigger hole than just a regular bead.

Because we want to fit two wires up through it. And we're gonna press that bead down

to where the chain pieces are. We don't want to leave a big area gap there.

So we want to really pull the bead down and pull the wires up so that the chain pieces are

right up against the bead.

I'm just going to pull those wires up one at a time.

And push them into the bead.

So now we've got our tassel with the bead on top. It looks very cute.

And now we're gonna make a wrapped loop in the top using our round-nose pliers.

Usually we make a wrapped loop with one wire, but we're gonna make it with two wires here. Do it just the same way

we always do,

pinching the wire above the bead and

making a 90-degree bend. And

then I'm going to put the pliers into the top of the bend so I can make a loop there,

so the loop goes in the other direction. I

Push it around the topjaw the pliers and then I reposition so that I can finish that loop.

My chain got in the way. And I pull that wire around. And

now I can hold the loop across

with the pliers and then wrap the neck.

Usually we do two wraps here, but I'm just going to do one because we have two wires. It would be a lot of wraps.

I'm just trimming the ends off both of those ends. And

then I've got my earring wire and I'm going to feed it through both of the both of the loops and

bring it around into the little

hook of the earring wire. And then I can use my pliers just to close that up. And

then to make the second earring, you'll just repeat the process.

And then you have a really cute pair of chain tassel earrings
