Youtube daily what May 26 2018

We started Vinylmnky because we had this passion for sharing new music between each other and with our friends,

And we wanted to see how we could extend that out into a business,

And do it on the best format possible - vinyl.

I'm Travis and this is Nick, and we co-founded Vinylmnky a new music discovery service on vinyl.

MailChimp's been huge for us for customer retention and to create new content that our customers want.

We use merge tags to really personalize our communications with our customers,

And create more of a one to one relationship with them.

What's really great about the merge tags is we can use them in our A B testing,

So we put them in our subject lines or the body of the content.

It really helps us hone in on the right message to deliver a personalized experience for our customers.

We use merge tags and segmentation on MailChimp in conjunction with one another in our campaigns.

We segment our members based off of genres that they like,

So we have hip hop enthusiasts list, we have rock list rap list and r&b list.

And then we leverage merge tags to create that one to one experience.

It really creates a robust campaign.

What Just Happened To President Trump Means - Duration: 12:48.

BREAKING: What Just Happened To President Trump Means FULL BLOWN WAR!!!

President Trump blasted the "Criminal Deep State" early Wednesday, suggesting things

have "turned around" in "SPYGATE," following revelations of a reported FBI informant

snooping on the Trump campaign, Fox News reports.

"Look how things have turned around on the Criminal Deep State.

They go after Phony Collusion with Russia, a made up Scam, and end up getting caught

in a major SPY scandal the likes of which this country may never have seen before!

What goes around, comes around!"

~ President Donald Trump

"SPYGATE could be one of the biggest political scandals in history!"

~ President Trump

The Presidents comments come after reports that an FBI informant communicated with at

least three members of his campaign—Foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos, Trump

aide Carter Page and campaign adviser Sam Clovis.

During a Tuesday appearance on 'The View', no less than the former Director of National

Intelligence (DNI) James Clapper described what was done by the Obama administration

to Donald's Trump campaign as "spying."

"With the informant business, well, the point here is the Russians.

Not spying on the campaign but what are the Russians doing?

And in a sense, unfortunately, what they were trying to do is protect our political system

and protect the campaign."

What's more, Blake and Clapper attempting to spin idea that the Obama administration

was spying on the Trump campaign for "friendly" purposes is beyond laughable, and we know

this was not the case for the reasons Hume points out: the Trump campaign was never informed

of this counter-intelligence operation for the simple reason that this counter-intelligence

operation had been launched against Trump and his campaign, Breitbart reported.

What's the difference between prepaid cards and secured credit cards? - Duration: 5:58.

Hey I'm Adam Jusko from ProudMoney.com and in this video we're going

to talk about what the difference is between a prepaid card and a secured

credit card. Had someone ask me about this recently, sometimes people get

confused on what each of those is and how they are the same and how they

differ --- mostly they differ. But before I do that I'd ask you to please subscribe

to our YouTube channel if you've not already and if you have I thank you for

doing so. So, like I said, someone had asked me recently, what's the

difference between a prepaid card and secured card. They basically thought that

a secured credit card was the same as a prepaid card and they're actually very

different, so we're going to talk about what those differences are. Let's talk

about prepaid first. A prepaid card... some people say "prepaid credit card" and

it's really not a prepaid credit card because there is no credit involved... so

this may be a Visa, Mastercard or American Express on the outside but what

it is is essentially a debit card. You are loading money into an account and

when you use it, that money is coming out of the account. You're not

getting a loan, there's no credit involved. It's your money being put on a

card and then you're using it just like any other debit card, right? It's

really sort of something that you use for convenience, in order to be able to

not carry as much cash, to be able to use it on the Internet or by

phone or even at retail stores, that's really what a prepaid card is for.

A lot of times people get prepaid cards if they don't have a banking

relationship or for whatever reason they have a bad previous banking relationship

and are having a hard time getting a checking account. That is how

that happens. So a prepaid card you either can fund it online sometimes,

sometimes it's through retail stores, a lot of them will allow you to direct deposit

your paychecks onto your prepaid card. So all those are ways that the money can

get on there, but no matter how you slice it, you are taking your money, putting it

on the card and then spending it. So it's essentially like cash, it's just

the mechanism for making the payment. Now because it is like cash,

there's a little safety concern there. You have to hold on to that prepaid card

or someone else if they get their hands on it could then use that card and

use all the money that you have put on to it. But, bottom line, it is a debit

card. You do not get any sort of... there's no sort of credit aspect to it.

You're not taking out any sort of loan, and if you're someone that has

credit problems or you're hoping to build your credit, a prepaid card is not

going to do it for you. It's really a convenience and a different way

to use your money. Now a secured card is very different. Again, this is a Visa

Mastercard or Discover card, but it's essentially the same as any other credit

card in terms of how you use it. You get the credit card, you can make your

purchases up to your credit limit, and then each month you pay off the card. The

big difference is that you have to put down a security deposit in order to get

the card. So say you put down a security deposit of $300. Now they may give you a

credit line that is the same as that security deposit, but that money is not

being taken out of your security deposit in order to pay the bill. So it is not

like a prepaid card in that way. That security deposit sits off to the side.

It's the same thing as if you had a security deposit on an apartment ---

you give them money in case there's damages and when you move out

they give it back to you, assuming that you've done everything you're

supposed to. Same with a secured card --- you give them money up front to "secure" that

card. You use it in the way that you're supposed to, and provided that

you've paid everything off by the time you no longer want that secured card...

because you've got a better credit card or for whatever reason...

assuming you've paid everything off, you get that security deposit back. So you

never are paying out of that security deposit for your monthly purchases,

you're using it just like any other credit card. Now the big upside to this...

you might say "well, why would you want that?" Right? Because I give you a security

deposit just to use a credit card that I can pay every month? That

doesn't make sense to a lot of people. But the big difference, or the big reason

that you want this, is because it does help you build credit.

You are being given a loan here, you are getting credit. You

may have put down a security deposit, but because you're not paying out of that

security deposit, you're not... it's not a debit situation. You are

actually building credit when that credit card

reports to the credit bureaus --- assuming of course that you are making

all your payments when you're supposed to. Your credit is being reported.

I assume that's you building credit because you're doing everything right. If you do

everything... or something's not right, you may not be building credit, you

may be making your credit no better than it was to begin with. But the point

behind a secured credit card is to help you to build credit, and that security

deposit is just sort of a safety for the bank in case you don't pay your bills.

But assuming you pay your bills --- and I'm sure you will --- if you have a secured card

or if you get one in the future, you will get that security deposit back when you

are either upgraded to a regular unsecured card or you just don't want

the secured card for whatever reason. But again, the big difference: the prepaid

cards is essentially a debit card, it's your money on there and it's just being

debited off as you use it. There's no credit aspect, you're not building

your credit score. Secured credit card you're putting in a security deposit, but

that's not touched when you make your payments and you are building credit,

assuming you make your payments on time. So hopefully that makes sense. If you

have any questions, please put them down in the comments below and I would be

happy to answer them. Thanks for watching. Please go to ProudMoney.com

where we do other credit card reviews and personal finance news and other fun

stuff too. Thanks for watching. Bye.

What Is Journalism and Why Does it Matter? - Duration: 3:15.

We, being the journalists here, support democracy, we tell people stories, we bring issues to

the forefront of decision makers, we keep our elected officials accountable.

Journalism matters in all its forms because unless you're informed, you can't make

decisions.

You can't make the right decisions because you won't have all the information.

Journalism is the bridge between what happens and what people do with that information.

The thing about legacy and traditional journalism which people have taken for granted is that

it still performs a really important function, we learn this more and more with social media

where we have information overload.

People think they can just find out for themselves and educate themselves on the issues.

Our job I think is to really use the time and resources that we have to gather that

information and then distill it into something that makes sense.

I think probably one of the most important functions of journalism is holding truth to

power.

So, holding governments and people in positions of power to account because we can't just

trust the information that we're given you know by the government or by figures of authority.

And I see our job here as trying to understand why politicians are making the choices they're

making, getting them to justify them, trying to explain through facts and analysis, why

certain things are being done, to try to expose problems that they may not be aware of, to

try and fix those problems.

It's crucial for citizens of all ages to be informed because everything that happens in

the world can affect you.

Either it's a local issue or even something far away can affect our economic and social

systems and if you don't have the information you can't understand what that is and how

it affects you personally and what choices you can make.

Looking up who makes those decisions and finding out how to change something if something does

need changing requires an informed citizenry.

It requires a press that asks hard questions and requires a government that answers them.

There are real threats to democracy.

There's a real danger that it's easy to be misinformed, it's harder to get facts

than it used to be.

It can lead to mistrust, it can lead to a decline of institutions, it can lead to a

growing cynicism.

We're all in this together and part of being a good citizen and contributing to that national

conversation, and that national decision making, is filling your brain with stuff and not just

doing stuff on the basis of what you heard yesterday from some guy down the street.

Young people today are more educated than any young people in previous decades, and

we know that education usually is tied to how people will approach elections and will

turn out at elections, so if young people today are more educated than ever before,

one of the things they have to do is educate themselves about the news, about politics,

about government, and about what's going on behind the scenes.

Being informed about the world keeps you informed about your life.

The Cryptal Show Episode 39: What is OTC Desk Trading and How Does it Work? - Duration: 8:40.

how does an OTC desk work okay OTC means over-the-counter and this basically

means that a buyer or seller is giving to a third party which is a broker the

OTC broker here the abilities the add the ability to buy or sell him to

through an over-the-counter not over an exchange over to not over the book of an

exchange able to bus find them a seller or find them a buyer so it needs to be

understood is that for example let's go we're gonna go step by step how no GC

transaction works okay so you have the broker gets for example in order to buy

1000 BTC

okay from a customer okay so what he does is that he would call market maker

okay and he would tell him well give me a price an OTC market maker usually and

he would tell him will give me a price for 1000 BTC okay

and usually he would give him a very wide spread okay he will tell him well

I'm buying BTC at 8,000 okay and I'm selling a

10,000 okay so this is the pit and this is the ask

okay

so the market maker basically provides the market okay

after that the the OGC broker what he does is that he goes into the market and

he has a system of price discovery and he goes to all his potential customers

that will be billing based on this market will be able to sell him PCC okay

so some people will join the price and would say well I can tell you BTC

one time I can tell you BTC and usually his calling clients that also do similar

sizes of what he has because he wants to buy 1000 VGC so here we get the first

guy that says well I can enter this price and I can sell you BTC for nine

thousand okay and then he calls another guy and he says well I can tell you how

much is the other guy nine thousand what I can tell you at eight thousand seven

hundred initially he calls up the guy he's the

one that wants to buy BTC and he informs him that his first customer informs him

that he can probably he's getting him 8700 but he's not sure but the quantity

etcetera etc so what ends up happening is that this buyers say well okay well I

would enter basically here here if he gives an order at best okay

that means the broker has free abilities to get him at at whatever price so let's

say gives an order at best the broker would find a way to kind of be able to

do the quantity and the best price okay so let's say sellers here they keep

on pushing this price lower and then he finally found someone that can sell him

for 8300 okay and then what he does is that he lifts this offer okay

once he leaves see this offer he lifts it on the basis of how much this guy if

he can do his quantity which is a thousand does he has a thousand BTC to

sell

okay if he doesn't have sis let's say they're basically if he has basically he

goes and he lifts in he goes my and basically he declares that he buys at

eight thousand three hundred and eight thousand three hundred becomes the buy

in the the traded price okay usually what you see does what happens is that

this price is announced to all the people in the market that are have

participated in the trade and usually what ends up happening is that other

people come in to sell or to buy or sell at this price okay and then you suddenly

have a trade okay now two things that are important for the regulator's here

is that the market is informed okay so you have to kind of inform in the best

practices with your customer when you have an OTC desk that you have to inform

them on the OTC trade trade okay and give them visibility on that and the

second thing you need to do which a lot of people don't do in the crypto space

because it's not a regulated environment is for the broker to cross the trades

okay now crossing the trades is a very very very very important element because

basically you're informing the market that a thousand BTC or let's say here

the total volume traded when you announced this was ended up being three

thousand bt see that all these trades are crossed here and they can say that

there is one watt of one thousand BTC that traded at eight thousand three

hundred and there is another neither of you know the same three lots of three

thousand BTC that's their price okay this price is completely disconnected

from the market because it's influenced light volume and this is why but what I

want you to pay attention to is this crossing okay and this crossing has to

be done in exchange okay when there is public information okay and you can see

this crossing in the book of Nick change okay so this is the kind of environment

where OTC desk will be operating as soon as we hit regulatory environment so a

lot of the OTC desk today are basically peer-to-peer trades and and and the

trades are not crossed in the market and so this is a major bottleneck for

current for current the current system is that a lot of these OTC does well

they need to have some kind of special agreement with Nick change and this is

something that crypto - is preparing for to enable all the OTC vests to cross

their trade on capital - and to get visibility to the to the to the to the

general public integer community because this this is this is important

information for the market extremely important information

so today's markets are lacking good transparency on this so one of the

things we're going to be doing with crypto - is having in our OTC desk

channel and and and exchange channel we're gonna

have publicly available information on the OTC volumes that are traded okay and

this is one more reason that crystal - will eat the market

Hi, my name's Taylor.

I study the internet and journalism and how we as citizens receive information about the

world.

In the olden days when people got information, it was mostly decided by people.

There were humans that decided what we needed to know.

So, when we opened the newspaper or turned on the evening news, it was a person that

decided what we heard and saw.

The result of that is that we all knew similar things.

Now the internet has changed everything.

When you go online, when you open an application, what you see is determined not by a person

but by a machine.

And this is awesome in a lot of ways.

It allows you to use Google maps, it allows you to order food online, it allows you to

connect with friends around the world and share information.

But, there are aspects of this machine that we need to think really carefully about, because

they determine the information that we all receive as citizens in a society and in a

democracy.

So, when you open up an app and you're shown a picture in your Snapchat feed, all of that

information is determined by this machine and that machine is driven by the incentives

of the company that owns the website or owns the application.

And the incentive is for you to spend as much time as possible inside that application.

So, they do things that make you feel very good about being there.

They allow people to like your photos, they show you content that they think you want

to see that will either make you really happy or really angry, that will get an emotional

response from you to keep you there.

That is because they want to show you as many ads as possible when you're there because

that is their business model.

They're also taking that same opportunity of you being in their app to collect data

about you.

And they use these data to create detailed profiles of your life and your behaviour,

and these profiles can then be used to target more ads back to you.

And that then determines what you see as well.

But all of this isn't just about the business model of these companies, it actually has

an impact on our democracy because what we each see on the internet is highly customized

to us, to what we like, to what we believe, to what we want to see or want to believe.

And that means that as a society we no longer all have a shared set of knowledge, which

is hard for a democracy that requires us to work together and know the same things to

make decisions about our lives together.

When we all know different things and we're all being siloed into our own little bubbles

of information, it's incredibility difficult for us to get along with one another.

We have no shared experience or shared knowledge.

So, I think it's really important that we think critically about the information we

receive online and about the companies and structures that determine what we see on the

internet.

What is already, cannot not be - Duration: 0:47.

Hey this is Robert Simic, The Billionaire Coach, are you ready for some deep thoughts

today?

This is rather for the advanced students of life, so let's see how much positive effect

it will have on everyone.

Ponder on this thought: What is already, cannot not be.

In the world of existence and the non-existence... what exists... it will always be and what

doesn't… it will never not not be.

Everything already is.

Or it isn't.

And that means that… what already exists, like you my friend, will always be and cannot,

never… not be.

Ponder on that for a while…
