Welcome everyone,
today I'm talking about
Travel Oregon The Game
Uhm, this is an advertisment done
from well, Travel Oregon.
Uhm, basically
the Travel Oregon is um,
Oregon's Tourist Board
or whatever
It's their advertisement campaign,
Uhm
Tourism
campaign.
Uhm,
And, y'all may have seen
this little segment
this is also from Travel Oregon

*Jolly Oboe*
But today,
uh, but Travel Oregon
the game is...
A Knockoff of The Oregon Trail
It's inspired by it, but
you play,
instead of going to Oregon
You're traveling through Oregon.
Seeing a bunch of different sites.
When we start the game,
we have 5 options
1. Play the game
2. How to Play
3. Book your trip
4. Turn sound off
and 5. Create Tombstone.
uhm,
first I go to How to Play, which,
doesn't really tell you too much about how to play
it just tells you, about the game
including people who made it, and stuff like that.
Book your trip, is basically...
well, booking your trip.
it loads to a different site
so you can
plan your vacation to Oregon.
And making a Tombstone is just,
making a tombstone.
Or create a tombstone is creating a tombstone.
Okay, so when you start the game
you have a few different jobs that you can select,
you can be one of the listed above.
I don't really know that it changes
anything
uhm, so I decide to go
Yoga Teacher, why not.
Seems just as decent as any other option.
Uh,
Similar to Oregon Trail you can have a
party of five members
and,
I,
everybody in the party is
Oregonians, or, well,
There's a little caveat on #2.
Uhm, there's first myself.
There is Alvin
because for some reason I thought the
creator of Alvin and the Chipmunks was from Oregon.
I am incorrect.
We have Raymond, for Raymond Carver.
We have Nellie for Nellie Olson
because, the character that she is based on,
Or the person she is based on,
Nellie Owens, would
eventually move to Oregon.
And last we have Dagget
from The Angry Beavers.
Once we have our party
we can either go straight on to the game,
or we can shop.
And since this is an Oregon Trail game essentially,
shopping is probably the best idea
y'know for here.
So, to start, I buy:
4 Tires
10 Gas Cans
4 Pairs of Dry Socks
4 Newspapers
3 Snow Chains
y'know
only for 3 tires
3 Kombucha
4 6-Packs of Craft Beer
and 20 cups of Artisinal Coffee.
And, I decide to star in the Mt. Hood
Columbia River Gorge
because
I would say Portland
is probably the closest to where I am.
And, when you're
at the end of a long car trip,
What you really love to, y'know,
there's nothing seeing home at the very end.
And so,
I start at Trillium Lake/Mt Hood
and
we have a little 8-bit esque
screen with accompanying Music.
And if it's a particular song, I don't know it.
But it's charming.
It's actually quite charming.
So I'm just going to let this music play
while we talk about what to do in Mt. Hood.
First we can go skiing,
and when we do
We are greeted with ah , this dude.
*Reading what's on screen.*
*Imitating Star Fox 64 "Good Luck"*
Uhm,
I dunno,
part of me's kinda wondering, are
we racing him to save the youth center or something?
Yes, of course that's a South Park "Asspen" reference
Isn't that the name of the episode?
"Ass
pen?"
Y'know, the French Fry when you Pizza Episode
Thumper: "Okay, see what he did? He French Fried when he should have Pizza'd."
Amy: Whatever
Uhm, moving on.
And, the skiing game
is reminiscent of SkiFree.
We even find a yeti in here,
although here I would say it's more likely to be bigfoot.
But, the start here,
the first time I start, they stop me right
Or the start me
right in front of a tree
Like, there's no way to avoid that.
I have, to beat this within 35 seconds
and...
It takes me awhile, but I eventually do it.
After I go skiing, I decide
to chat up a local, who
doesn't have much to say.
Again, reminiscent of The Oregon Trail.
the locals never had anything interesting to say it seems.
I've only played the first, well
I've played The Oregon Trail,
The Original on Apple, but I
grew up on,
well, I guess it was Apple II
But I actually grew up on Oregon Trail Deluxe.
*8-Bit Slow Bass line, up and down.*
We could also buy some items, which, I don't do, because I don't think I need it.
And, we can again book our trip,
check our supplies, look at map,
Or we can just continue to the next area,
which is Rowena Crest Loops.
Between Mt. Hood and Rowena Crest Loops
nothing much interesting happens
And we make it.
Uh, here we have a,
BMX minigame which is
pretty identical to the skiing minigame
The only difference is you have 26 seconds.
But,
eh
It's doable.
Honestly, not a lot interesting to say there.
Uhm, oh, except we got sponsored from Jaxx'd Energy Drink.
Is that a real brand?
Again, talk to locals, not a lot going on there. And, we continue on our way.
In between the Loops and uh,
Anthony Lakes,
we run into a gas station, and there I buy:
1 Phone Charger
8 water
6 Air Fresheners
5 bags of Baby Carrots
and 5 Beef Jerkies
And unfortunately, it's during this time that our companions
start to get annoyed with each other.
First Dagget is tired of Alvin's Music
I mean, aren't we all?
*Alvin and the Chipmunks "Christmas Don't Be Late"*
Dagget then goes on to complain, Nellie's being dramatic, which
If, this is Nellie Owens here
This is Nellie Oleson here, which, duh.
But uhm, perhaps Dagget shouldn't have said anything because,
This happens
Which, honestly proves his point
But the blood has not quenched Nellie's thirst.
She requires Kombucha.
Which we give to her.
We also lost a duel to a ghost, or we find a
Ghost Town, and lose a duel to a ghost
And lose $50.
And Ducks steal a Newspaper
Unfortunately, our Aux Cord breaks,
which is quite unfortunate because,
how else is Raymond supposed to blast the Neil Cicierga?
To everyone's annoyance?
*Neil Cicierga's "Wndrwll"
but finally we get to Anthony Lakes.
And the minigame here is a hunting minigame.
But unfortunately, we cannot afford a Hunting License
So, I decide to just, go hunting without. Which proves to be quite unfortunate
'cause we are fined $250 that we do not have.
Luckily, we do not go into the negative and our game does not end due to insufficient funds.
In between Anthony Lakes and the Painted Hills
The check engine light comes on, which is an easy fix. I just have to fix a loose cable.
and we lose $50 more
in a gas stop, no,
truck stop arm wrestle.
So,
some things this game has taught us so far:
a) If you take a trip in Oregon, you're gonna die, or people will die.
and you're gonna get scammed out of your money left and right.
Fabulous Advertisement!
In the Painted Hills, we win a duel
against the same ghost that we battled earlier
and get a friendship bracelet in reward.
All that happens between, all that happens between the Painted Hills and Three Sisters is
that we uhm,
get a flat tire and we replace it with our stock of tires.
And in 3 Sisters, our minigame is just ice skating here
Then when we prove better than our competitors, they break our Knee Caps.
Okay, that doesn't happen.
After we are done with Sisters,
our station wagon becomes pulled by sled dogs
which is friggin' adorable. I mean, look at this. That's cute.
And apparently Beaver stole my "Chads letter"?
In Benham Falls, we can go snowshoeing
which, we have to press the
buttons on the right here.
And it starts to get really screwy at the end
but it tells me, "Congrats"
So, I passed it?
I don't know.
In between Benham Falls
and Crater Lake, Alvin needs to use the restroom
because we gave him Coffee earlier
and apparently
isn't wise enough to
wet his pants
when we refuse to stop for him
and, just, dies.
But guess what? We get another party member
right after. We get to build a snowman.
In fact. we even get to pick his stamina
points, stuff like that.
We get to decide what class he is, so on and so forth.
At Crater Lake, the minigame
is skiing, which is
this time, is basically the
same thing as the Snowshoeing one.
It's actually identical.
We continue.
In between Crater Lake and Jacksonville
Amy is starting, to get on Raymond's Nerves
We attem- we stop at a Gas Station
where we don't buy anything.
We also fill up on gas, but another trick question, we cannot pump our own gas in Oregon.
Shortly thereafter, Raymond dies.
Just like Nellie,
I am a vengent-
My character is kinda a dramatic b!tch.
And, we try a shortcut,
unfortunately, Nellie gets lost in the woods.
In Jacksonville, the minigame is
fishing, once again similar to the skiing that we just did
and the snowshoeing before that.
And we can continue on.
Between Jacksonville and
Acre Shore Park
Amy gets an ice cream headache
We stop at a campsite to tell scary stories
and since
everybody is dead or lost
Amy is, I'm
apparently telling stories to myself.
And I'm unimpressed.
I guess I could have been telling the Snowman, I think he's still around.
We continue on, and all of
a sudden, my character dies.
But we continue.
Until the snowman melts.
And although I'm unsure as to
how my character died,
I have a guess.
Just gonna put it out there.
Alright, so that was Travel Oregon
uhm, it's a silly little game.
It's nothing more than just a little promotional thing.
