Setting up 301 Redirects in WordPress - Duration: 4:42.

- Hey y'all, welcome to another WordPress Wednesday.

My name is Kori Ashton, here in San Antonio, Texas,

and you found a channel solely dedicated

to all things WordPress.

And today we're gonna be looking at 301 redirects.

Now that's a really nerdy term, what does it even mean?

Do I need to do it? What is it?

So let's talk about it.

A lot of you've probably heard of what's called a 404 page,

or a broken page on your website.

That's kind of the nerd code for what that's called.

Well there's another term called a 301 redirect,

and it helps Google, and any directory for that matter,

understand if you've moved content on your website.

So let me show you some examples and see if I can help

you understand all this nerdy-ness.

Let's say that I've got our website here,

and let's say I had video tutorials here

and this is our blog area that has all of our

video tutorials on it.

So if I wanted to maybe change this URL path,

I of course, already rank really high on Google.

So that means that Google has this page already

in its memory, right, it has that link.

So if you ever change these links, ugh, it's totally

detrimental to your ranking in Google search results.

So you wanna have a strong gameplan starting out,

but if you work on a website where you need to

make these changes or if you found a website

and for SEO purposes you think maybe you should make a

change inside of this URL path,

then you must do a 301 redirect that tells Google,

"Hey, this content that used to live at this link,

"now lives at this link." Then what happens is,

if somebody has this old link bookmarked

and they click on it still from the past,

they click on that, Google and the server

basically knows to redirect things over here

to the correct page that you told it to.

Does that make sense?

So we're just trying to redirect your content

if you're changing the path or the link

of where that content lives.

So I've got a really cool tool, there's a free

plugin to help, what I don't want you to do

is find plugins over here that say something like this,

give you a quick alert that say "Hey, we've not

"done anything in two years this is not compatible."

So don't use plugins like that.

If you think, well this one looks okay

and this is maybe even one I've recommended in the past

because I know we've used this one in the past.

But it's not been updated in over a year,

it's been tested pretty well but,

go to the reviews for a second and this is some

harsh stuff right here,

so we probably don't wanna use this one either.

So the one I'm gonna recommend to you today is one

called Redirection, and this thing is totally for free

and it's loaded down with cool extra features.

So you're gonna go and install it inside

of your WordPress website and once you have

there's a Settings button here,

or you can find it underneath Tools and go to Redirection.

And this is where you'll basically find your old URL,

let's go grab one just to show you what it would look like.

You paste it in there and you would tell it,

this is where, this is now the new name of that link area.

And let's just say free WordPress resources,

or tutorials, that's probably better for SEO purposes.

And you just click Add Redirection, and this would then

log it and that would be, that's all that's needed

for the server to understand that anybody that clicks

on that link now needs to be pointed to this link.

Kinda simple, huh? Kinda cool.

This might get a little tedious though

if you've got a ton of links.

So this plugin has a fix for that as well.

You've got some expressions in here that you could add

like the period and the asterisk there.

So check out this page, I'll put the link to it

in the description box below, that gives you

some really cool shortcuts to bulk management of URL paths

especially inside of a blog or a category area.

Another last feature I wanna mention is,

if you do have a crazy 404 page happen on your website,

they've got the ability to monitor it.

Check this out, you go right up here to 404s,

they're gonna tell you every single time somebody

lands on your website in a broken link

so that you can monitor that and hopefully

go set a 301 to fix that confusion.

Washington is beginning to zero in on the midterm elections.

And forecasters are increasing the odds of the Democrats sweeping into power.

But Donald Trump made a decision that just set up Chuck Schumer for the biggest shock

of his life.

Establishment Republicans want to rerun the 2008 and 2012 campaigns in November.

From Paul Ryan on down, top Republicans are insisting on campaigning on tax cuts.

But Donald Trump has other ideas.

He intends to campaign on immigration and trade – the America First issues that won

him the Presidency.

Breitbart reports:

"President Trump finds the Republican establishment's plan to run their 2018 midterm election campaigns

on the recently passed tax cuts "boring," according to the New York Times, and will

instead focus his efforts on his wildly popular "America First" immigration and trade

agenda.

The report by the New York Times reveals the GOP establishment's efforts to restrain

Trump from focusing on his populist immigration and trade agenda—where he advocates for

less foreign competition against America's workers.

The party's leaders have pleaded with Trump to focus much of his campaign attention on

pushing House Speaker Paul Ryan's tax cuts, a plan backed by the pro-mass immigration

billionaire Koch brothers and that they claim will keep them in the majority in the House

and Senate.

The New York Times notes:

When House Speaker Paul D. Ryan hosted a meeting of major Republican donors in Austin, Tex.,

this month, the head of the Congressional Leadership Fund, the primary House G.O.P.

super PAC, delivered a presentation with a plea that the party "must sell the benefits

of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act" to retain the House.

[Emphasis added]

Defying the GOP's efforts to run midterm campaigns on Ryan's brand of republicanism,

Trump reportedly finds the tax reform agenda "boring" and instead will continue to

focus on his two most popular issues: Reducing immigration and ending unfair free trade."

Tax cuts are important.

But at Trump rallies, they received polite golf claps.

What really motivated thousands of Americans to attend Trump rallies was his demand for

a crackdown on illegal immigration and an end to globalist trade deals that benefited

the elites while drying up the industries that built the middle class.

There is a gut level connection between Trump and his voters because Trump speaks to the

concerns of the forgotten men and women of America.

Elections are contests of base turnout.

And the Democrats – as all parties out of power do in midterm years – possess an enthusiasm

gap.

The GOP's best chance to hang on in November is to put the issues that spurred record setting

GOP turnout in 2016 front and center.

It could save the Senate and deny Chuck Schumer the chance to ascend to the position of Majority

Leader.

Learning to color mix with gouache, and setting up a new palette! - Duration: 5:48.

Hello friends!

It's Kat, from MeowMeowKapow.

As you may know, I've been slowly tackling the process of learning gouache in a way that

makes it less intimidating for me.

Our first real step was making monochromatic pieces just using one color and white, to

help make the texture of the paint itself easier for me to control.

That step was super helpful for me and made it easier to control the thickness of the

paints themselves, and also encouraged me to remember to use white as a way of shifting

colors-something that I'd kind of lost as a habit when I started working with watercolors.

The paint I'm using today is Royal Talen's gouache, which I put into a water-tight pill

case that I hoped would make a good stay-wet travel palette but is only semi-successful,

since the paints did dry slightly after two weeks in the palette.

There are links in the doobly-doo for the materials, though I will say…

These paints are overwhelmingly smelly so I wouldn't recommend them if you're sensitive

to that kind of thing.

I'm not particularly sensitive to paint smells and even I thought it was a little

rough.

I chose this color selection for its simplicity as a split primaries set though, and I'll

also link to some Holbein gouache that I know don't smell and are in a similar color range.

I'll do a review of the Royal Talens gouache after I've gotten more familiar with it.

After I was more comfortable with the actual paint itself from our last video, I quickly

realized that my next challenge was consistently understanding how to mix the colors I needed

in gouache.

You'd think it would be the same as any other paint mixing, but… for some reason,

I struggled to get what I was aiming for.

But then Dan from Penholder art inspired me.

If you aren't familiar with Penholder Art, I'll link to his channel in the doobly-doo.

He's a fellow Youtuber who also happens to make and sell his own incredible watercolors,

and he spent a month just trying to accurately color-match watercolor paints to objects around

his house.

This is such a simple challenge to take on, but it's honestly quite brilliant when the

problem you're having is tailored to this solution.

So, let's practice mixing colors!

Don't worry about getting the texture of the paint right and making it super opaque,

and don't worry about making additional tones like shadows and highlights.

Focus, first, on just getting the base colors you need.

I grabbed random but simple objects from my desk and tried to dissect the colors.

Looking at this green, it's a very yellow green, so I know I'm going to need more

yellow than blue in order to mix it.

It's also a slightly warm, slightly muddled green and when you mix a cool color with a

warm color, you get that slightly muddled effect.

So, I chose a cool yellow and mixed it with a warm blue.

Then it was just a matter of adjusting the ratios until it looked right.

Or looked right enough, any way.

Same for the red.

It looks like a kind of slightly cool red, but its also a bit dark and looks slightly

neutralized.

Because of this, I mixed both the warm red and cool red that were in my palette until

I thought I had something close.

But it was still missing that small bit of neutralization.

To neutralize a color and make it slightly less shockingly bright and purely itself,

you add whatever the opposite of the color is on the color wheel.

Good thing I'd just finished mixing up a green, then.

I continued this on for a bit, then making a sort of peach color using the red I'd

already made, adding a bit of yellow and a bit of white to mimic the rest of the lid.

It's crucial to remember the importance of utilizing white in gouache color mixing,

and I still have to fight against my watercolor "just add more water" instinct sometimes.

A perfect example of that is with all the greens in this Totoro pencil case.

I started off trying to mix them with just yellow and blue, but didn't really get a

good color for the background or the lighter leaves until I added that crucial hint of

white.

As I started mixing more colors, I started to get a bit more confident in my ability

to do it correctly.

And I know that I could definitely work on the opacity of the paint, but I really wanted

to focus on just the actual color portion of this adventure and didn't want to stress

out too much about making things perfect.

Even without shadow colors added to these little doodles, it's very obvious what objects

they each represent because the colors are nicely mirrored.

By the way, if you find these tips helpful I would be so grateful if you considered subscribing

Now the thing that really made it difficult for me when color mixing with gouache, is

that once I made the right color I'd have a problem mixing more of it once I ran out.

So one thing you could do is make a little swatch of each color once you've got it

right for your painting, and write down a rough formula of how you got it.

I did that for the purples from this pair of scissors, and the orange from the dress

of this little skull girl.

Personally, for me, this would be an invaluable trick during larger paintings because I often

forget how I got to a specific color, and because mixing with gouache still isn't

second nature yet, I can use all the help I can get!

Also, I didn't do it in this video, but if you want to color match a specific spot

but are having trouble ignoring the colors around it, you could always use some tape

or a piece of paper or something to cover up the area around what you're trying to

match, so only one spot with just the exact color you're trying to recreate is showing

through.

Special counsel Robert Mueller reportedly discussed issuing a subpoena for President

Donald Trump.

The Washington Post reports Mueller brought up the option in a "testy" meeting with Trump's

lawyers back in March.

The report came just one day after The New York Times said Mueller has a list of nearly

50 questions for Trump aimed at trying to figure out if he obstructed justice.

That March meeting happened before the president brought on former New York City mayor Rudy

Giuliani to serve as a liaison between Trump's team and Mueller's.

Since then, Giuliani's reportedly spoken with Mueller about a possible interview with Trump.

Giuliani allegedly told the special counsel that while Trump is still opposed to the idea,

a future interview isn't off the table.

The last president to be issued a subpoena while in office was Bill Clinton as part of

the Monica Lewinsky investigation in 1998.

He ultimately became the first sitting president to testify before a grand jury about his conduct.

If Mueller ultimately issues a subpoena for Trump, it's possible a legal battle would

unfold and end with the issue being taken to the Supreme Court.

Well the good thing that i live in Papua

I've learn about new culture and meet new people

even thought at the first time i arrived in Papua on the end of November 2017 ago

in a month i tryna adaptation here such as a tough life

if you were me, you might feel like how i feels

if you heard issues about Papua such as malaria disease until make people death

the war tribes

and still have so many issues about Papua that i can't tell you more

which those issues really make me was not comfort to live in Papua at the beginning

so what i'm doing in Papua?

the same things that i've done before such as travel, make video, write and photography

and yeah i can continue doing my hobbies in Papua

but the different is i must work with sponsor now

and in past three month 2018

the incredible moments that i never imagined before, they were happened in my life now

Hello everyone, hope you're fine hope you're doing great and fantastic. Its

a great weather today in the UK it's raining and first let me introduce

myself. My name is Miso Mmereki or Miso Baker whichever you prefer.

I am from Botswana but I now live in the United Kingdom. I've been living here for

about five years now by the grace of God, if it wasn't for God, if it wasn't for the

Lord, I would not be Who I AM and I would not be where I AM. It is through God's

intervention in my life, through the man of God and my Prophet TB Joshua

that I AM where I AM. Let me just briefly just give you a word of advice, just a

little bit of faith building. I AM a Faith Building Speaker. I AM an Evangelist and

I AM also a TV and radio presenter and an EMMANUEL TV partner. I just want

to say to you today DON'T GIVE UP on GOD. Whatever you're going through, I don't

know what you're going through right now, but whatever it is that you're facing,

He will definitely do it for you. Believe me, I have been there, I know.

I can imagine what you're going through. I was in debts, frustrations, career

setback, financial setback, friends, bad friends, relationships, OH MY GOD! nothing

was making sense. You saw me on TV, all bubbly energetic, doing well, it was great

I'm a TV presenter and I'm talented I know that. I did a good job but you didn't

know what I was going through in the background.

You heard me on radio, I mean my show was up there, but you didn't know what I was

facing. I'm telling you now that's through J.E.S.U.S. with God, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. Look at me

now, look at me I'm in the rain, there's an umbrella here I'm walking in the rain

I live in the United Kingdom and I never thought, I never imagined that I'll be living

in this country, never ever. I never ever imagined myself here, but God said it and

because I believed! because I trusted him! because I believed him! and I gave my

life to Him! I gave my life to Jesus and what I can say to you is that, that is

the only way that you can come closer to God. You have to start by having Faith, you.

need to believe and have Faith

do not let the devil trick you. Do not allow Satan to tell you that it's not possible,

it won't happen because it is possible. The devil is a liar and He is a fool, so don't trust

him and do not listen to him, do not even give him attention. I don't, I never give

- Um...and these I just got like samples just to kinda see

what people thought, everyone's ideas, and just

for us to wear, because it's our first like logo that we have.

Um, but the plan is ultimately have like the pants,

sports bras, socks, water bottles.

And everything's not going to have our picture on it.

Honor, I'm just-- - Mommy, you don't have foot.

- I don't have feet in those either,

so--so it's just the picture.

So that's basically like where we're trying to go

with the clothing line.

- So she's always with you?

- Once like--her grandmother does help sometimes, but she

just lives so far, so I don't always call her to take her.

- How does it work for your brand when you bring

your daughter out in--

- A lot of my clients said they have children, too.

So it's like I'll train them, some of the children

will be in the room with us while the mom's training.

And something--you know, Honor will just sit there while

I train them, but they're kinda all okay with it,

because I work with them as far as pricing, as well,

like because they know Honor's gonna be there with me.

- I suggest that you find a babysitter.

- Because it's a little bit distracting.

So as excited as I was to come to this meeting,

it's kind of disaster, nothing's going right.
