Asian American Life: May 2018: Asian American Women Who Make A Difference - Duration: 27:15.♪ [Theme Music] ♪
>> Welcome to Asian
American Life.
I am Ernabel Demillo.
In honor of Asian-Pacific
American Heritage month,
we are celebrity the lives of
remarkable women who helped
change America.
You probably have not heard of
most of them, but some got their
start right here, helping the
Chinatown community.
A woman ahead of her time,
Rayner Ramirez on the life and
work of women's rights leader,
Mabel Lee.
Breaking silence, my special
report on sexual harassment.
Kyung Yoon shares the power
of women's giving circles and
Minnie Roh meets with
award-winning activist, Ai-Jen
Poo. This and more on Asian
American Life.
>> I am Rayner Ramirez.
In the early 1900s, a scholar
from Chinatown became an
unlikely activist for
women's right to vote.
And she may finally be getting
the recognition she deserves.
This post office in New York's
Chinatown may be getting a new
name to honor one of its
treasured residence, Dr. Mabel
Lee who founded the first
Chinese Baptist Church in 1925.
>> Our founder has been in the
news.
There is a movement to dedicate
a post office in honor of her.
>> Mabel Lee first made
headlines as a suffragist
over a century ago.
The New York Tribune called her
a symbol of a new era.
A recent graduate of Barnard
College, she rode on horseback,
leading a March for women's
rights to vote even though she
would never be allowed to cast
the ballot as a Chinese
immigrant.
>> Mabel Lee was involved not
just in the beginning of the
suffragist movement, but also
she was subject to the Chinese
exclusion act, which meant that
not only were Chinese excluded
from emigrating to the United
States unless they had certain
kinds of credentials, but they
were also not permitted to
become naturalized citizens, and
therefore unable to vote.
>> Mabel Lee's father was a
progressive American Baptist.
>> Part of the denomination was
preaching a gospel called
social gospel.
Not just a Bible and spiritual
salvation, but how the Christian
churches could be involved in
social changes.
>> Mabel Lee was fighting for
women's rights because she
thought that women's rights were
an important contribution for
the transformation of China.
>> Contributing to the
transformation of modern China
was Mabel's ultimate goal when
she completed her doctorate
degree in political econimics
from Columbia University.
>> She was extremely unique as a
woman getting her PhD from
Columbia University, and a
Chinese woman at that.
The label of the first Chinese
woman to earn a PhD from
Columbia shows you it was not
something that was traditional
or happened very often and it
was even unusual for men from
China to get a PhD from
Columbia at the time.
>> But Lee's dreams of
returning to China were dashed
when her father suddenly passed
away.
>> She came back to New York to
take care of her mother and take
the reins of the organization
her father had begun to build.
>> Lee secured this
building and establish the first
Chinese Baptist Church in honor
of her father.
>> Dr. Mabel Lee felt it was
important to continue her
father's vision through local
community donations, as well as
religious organizations to help
raise funds to create the
Memorial Hall we are sitting in,
today.
>> Though Lee could not be
ordained as a pastor because of
her gender, she ran the church.
It became one of Chinatown's
early community centers.
>> As part of the first Chinese
Baptist Church's mission, they
offered outreach programs to
teach young immigrants English
lessons which would help them
assimilate to life in America.
I am one of the beneficiaries of
this great mission because when
my father came here to learn
English, he went to Polytech to
earn his degree in electrical
engineering and as a result,
landed a job as one of the first
Chinese electrical engineers at
AT&T in the 1950's.
>> Robert Gee's father, Stephen,
would become a deacon of the
church carrying on Mabel Lee's
mission of giving back to the
community.
>> Through her 60 plus years of
service to the community, I
would say thousands of Chinese
immigrants she has touched in
terms of helping them, from
language or business or whatever
the need was, Dr. Mabel Lee was
there to help.
>> Gee who met Lee when he
was just a toddler, followed in
his father's footsteps and
became a deacon of the church.
>> I feel that we are blessed
with the opportunities that this
church provided to my father.
As a way of giving back to the
community and this church and
the mission of Dr. Mabel Lee,
this is why I am here, helping
the community which is the
mission of what they had set
out over 92 years ago.
>> Gee's family is among
the countless lives touched by
the work of Dr. Mabel Lee, a
trailblazer who left her stamp
on Chinatown, and continues to
inspire a new generation.
>> Younger Asian American women
can learn from Mabel Lee that
determination is important.
You don't allow society to
define you.
>> The bill to rename this
post office in Mabel Lee's honor
passed in the House of
Representatives and is now in
the hands of the U.S. Senate.
For Asian American Life, I am
Rayner Ramirez.
>> Sexual assault and
harassment has been making
headline news -- and now some
Asian-American women are
leading the fight,
refusing to be silent no more.
>> So these are all of our black
velvet hangers. So instead of
traditional cleaners-
>> Rechelle Balanzat is the
woman behind Juliette, a mobile
laundry app designed for the
busy New Yorker. With a tap
here and a tap there,
your laundry is picked up,
cleaned and returned within 24
hours.
>> Everything is done in the
Upper West side where we process
the clothes, package it and do
quality checks before we
deliver it to our customers.
>> Balanzat came up with the
idea in 2013, when she found her
self trying to navigate the not
so clean male-dominated world
of venture capitalists and
investors.
>> There are varying degrees of
sexual harassment.
I have been fortunate enough to
not be on the high-end.
The sexual innuendos, examples
would be going out for a
cocktail date or dinner date
that is supposed to be an
investor meeting, those types of
things.
I would have to really
second-guess their intentions.
>> But it was pretty clear
to her, what their intentions
were.
>> They would say things like
all you have to do is go on this
date and he will write you a
check.
That is pretty forward to me.
It really made me question what
is the purpose of this date?
Are you looking at me because
you are expecting a sexual favor
or is it because you believe in
my business and this company I
am trying to build?
>> Balanzat and other
Asian American women tech
entrepreneurs say this is a too
common experience for them,
getting hit on and in the
extreme, assaulted,
while pitching to investors.
And they are not alone.
The #MeToo movement has led to
women coming forward with their
stories of sexual assault,
violence and harassment, not
just in the tech industry, but
in Hollywood, the service
industry, the media, and more.
Women and their supporters are
saying enough with boys will be
boys.
>> I think the tide has shifted.
I think in our generation, we
were more apt to accept that
sort of thing.
Hopefully now, this new
generation who are coming into
corporate America, board rooms,
classrooms, anywhere are less
tolerant of that kind of
behavior.
>> Despite all the media
attention to the movement, some
argue that not much attention is
being given to the diversity of
the women victims.
>> Our needs have to be taken
into account in any kind of
development of programming or
policies.
We cannot be overlooked.
The stereotypes that apply to
white women may not apply to us.
We tend not to have the same
level of championship within
organizations.
We tend not to have role models
who look like us.
We don't have sponsors who can
advocate for us to the extent
that they do for white women.
>> Dr. Giscombe is with
Catalyst, a New York
based nonprofit supporting
women in the workplace.
She says stereotypes make women
of color more susceptible to
sexual harassment.
>> With Asian-American women,
there is this China doll
stereotype that came about
because of the U.S. occupation
of Asian countries after wars,
that there was a sex trade that
grew up to serve American
soldiers.
>> In Hollywood for
example, Asian women are often
portrayed as hypersexual.
And one study, analyzing
pornographic websites, found
nearly half of the women being
raped and sexually assaulted
were Asian women. Meanwhile,
in real life, most AAPI
women are afraid to speak out
when they are a victim.
Karen Elizaga is an author,
executive coach and long time
president of Woman Kind,
a nonprofit supporting
Asian Americans who are
victims of domestic and sexual
violence.
What kind of cultural barriers
Asian American women
face when it comes to reporting
sexual violence and harassment?
>> I will speak in a generality
which is that as a culture, we
have the issue of shame.
There is the issue of loyalty,
also the issue of being a good
soldier.
Putting your head down and
getting the job done.
We don't want to bring shame to
our family.
We want to be loyal to our
family.
How do you step out of your
cultural norm and raise your
head and say I have been a
survivor of sexual violence?
>> Some Asian American
women have been fighting back,
notably the journalist Suki Kim,
who publically accused her
former boss, the award winning
journalist John Hockenberry,
of sexual harassment.
There's Ellen Pao who filed a
gender discrimination lawsuit
against her employer.
While she lost the suit, it did
help highlight the treatment of
women in tech.
According to a recent survey,
six in 10 women in tech say they
have experienced harassment.
>> When you are starting out,
you are so hungry for validation
or capital or support and to
have it dangled in front of you,
knowing that you need the
support but in exchange, you are
required to do some sort of
favor, even if it is as innocent
as a date.
The fact that I have to be
propositioned that way and not
because of my business model.
>> Women entrepreneurs are
still fighting an uphill battle.
According to the tech company
Crunch Base, the number of
startups with female founders is
only 17%, the same number since
2015.
Balanzat says the obstacles have
only made her tougher.
>> When you are trying to build
a company, you cannot be shy and
quiet otherwise your company is
not going to go anywhere.
I had to learn that grit and
I had to learn that strength
whem I was faced with no's,
with sexual harrassment,
with people who didn't take
me seriously, you kind
of grow and develop as a person.
>> And she is not afraid
to tell her story, because maybe
one day these stories can add up
to systemic change, the kind of
change organizations like
Catalyst and Women Kind are
demanding.
I'm Ernabel Demillo for Asian
American Life.
>> I'm Kyung Yoon.
Giving circles are relatively
new trend in America, but they
are built on traditions that
date back hundreds, maybe
thousands of years around the
world.
In New York City, a group of
Asian American women are
redefining what it means to be
philanthropist activists.
>> Where is the social Justice
piece of this?
>> I think that is what makes it
a medium.
>> Meet the women of the
Asian Women Giving Circle, New
Yorkers who care about their
community.
They pool their philanthropic
dollars to fund projects led
by Asian American women
and community groups that
promote positive and
progressive social change.
Hali Lee founded the Giving
Circle in 2005 after realizing
how much more of an impact she
and her friend could have by
giving together, rather than
going at it alone.
>> I would respond to an
appealing appeal if there was a
disaster.
I would give to my college or
the places that matter to me.
I was not focusing my giving on
women or girls in New York City
or Asian American families in
New York City.
With this idea of starting
Giving Circle, it was a
great chance to get my
girlfriends together and also
just be more strategic and
impactful with our philanthropic
dollars.
>> Starting with its first
grants in 2006, the Giving
Circle has raised and awarded
over $850,000 to support more
than 85 projects by
Asian-American women artists,
activists and changemakers.
>> She get straight A's.
She is a fan of art.
She's perfect
the way that God made her.
>> The best way to move people's
hearts is through words, images,
song, dance, theater,
documentary films, spoken word
poetry, so we decided to focus
our philanthropic might on art
for progressive social change.
>> The group is proud of
being an early funder of
programs like this one by
Amita Swadhin, an anti-violence
activist and survivor.
>> When I remember Poleen, I
remember the difference between
victim and survivor.
>> Amita did a program called
Secret Survivors, around child
sexual abuse in families,
including some Asian American
families.
We gave her a small grant and it
enabled her to workshop her very
moving personal theatrical
piece.
It was like different actors
embodying the stories of people
who had survived childhood
sexual assault.
After we gave her that grant,
she got $50,000 for the
foundation.
>> Here, the group
is discussing a grant
application to fund a girls
leadership and advocacy project
in New Yorks Chinatown.
It teaches papermaking, made
from recycled paper used each
Lunar New Year.
>> The paper is the medium for
the kids to learn about Asian
American women activists in
New York City in Chinatown.
>> It is an awareness thing for
the younger generation.
Literally after one of these
festivals, the confetti along
the sidewalks is about that
deep.
All of that paper goes to waste.
To me, the recycle part, I found
it cool.
>> We are working with such a
small group of young
women who have never had the
chance to work with their hands
or even learn how to make paper.
This is the first grant that we
ever applied to.
The project started in 2016.
It was a labor of love until
2017.
Having the Asian Women Giving
Circle support us in this was
exciting and also established a
really strong foundation for us
to continue to think about how
we might be able to create
programs that provide long-term
change for our communities.
We are really thrilled and
excited.
>> The Giving Circle's
grantmaking and fundraising
activities are led by a
committee of about 25 women who
come from diverse professional
backgrounds, but who share
a passion for amplifying
the voices of Asian-American
women and having some fun
in the process.
>> We have gotten to know each
other personally.
We have shared personal time
together.
>> We love to eat, so we often
go out to dinner.
>> Who is the one that picks the
restaurant the most?
>> We are 13 years in.
We have gone through marriages
and divorces.
We just had our first grandbaby
in the group. One of us is
having her first baby.
You experience life together.
So over those years those
connections become real.
It is not just a board or a
fleeting thing.
We love each other and care for
each other.
I am really grateful for this
sisterhood.
>> The Asian Women Giving
Circle is looking to hit or
surpass $1 million in cumulative
grants this year.
Beyond the dollars, it is clear
the impact is on the donors
themselves who are changing the
face of philanthropy.
I am Kyung Yoon for Asian
American Life.
>> I am Minnie Roh, Ai-Jen
Poo is best known for her
work transforming the
landscape of labor standards
and working conditions
for domestic workers. The 2014
MacArthur Genius award
recipient has dedicated her
career to giving a voice to the
voiceless, nannies,
housekeepers, human trafficking
survivors.
Continuing her social justice
work, she has set her sights on
revamping the home health care
system.
Together with the Asian-American
community, she is making some
groundbreaking strides.
It is an inevitable fact of life
that everyone grows older.
While we hope to live our lives
independently until the end,
what if you or your loved ones
is one of those millions that
needs extra help?
>> We are about to have the
largest older population we ever
had in the history of this
country.
We are not prepared.
>> Ai-Jen Poo is legendary
in the advocacy world and her
work has won over fans like
Meryl Streep who even took her
as her date to the
2018 Golden Globes.
For the past seven years, Poo
has led a national campaign
called Caring Across Generations
which examines the needs of both
the care recipient, elders and
disabled, and the caregiving
workforce.
As outlined in her book, The Age
of Dignity, this is a field that
can be characterized as a crisis
waiting to happen, or exciting
new frontier.
>> People are living longer than
ever because of advances in
health care and the baby boomer
generation is starting to age at
a rate of a person every eight
seconds turning 65.
A lot of people talk about the
age wave as kind of a crisis.
They talk about a silver
tsunami like it's a natural
disaster.
I really do see it as an
opportunity for us to care for
each other in this country in a
whole new way.
>> An AARP study shows that
73% of all Asian
American Pacific Islanders
believe caring for a parent is
expected of them versus 49% of
other populations.
AAPI's are twice as likely to
care for an elderly relative at
home compared to other
ethnicities.
Personally, Poo's father cared
for his own father at home until
he was no longer able to do so
and had to place him in a
nursing home.
>> He stayed in a nursing home
in a room that he shared with
six other people and it was
miserable.
He did not eat, he could not
sleep, and he passed away after
three months.
>> This experience further
fueled her desire to find a
solution for the millions of
Americans who could face a
similar fate, whether for
themselves or providing care for
aging parents or loved ones.
>> There is a huge increase in
the need for care.
A lot of families are just being
crushed by the pressures of
affording care, managing care,
understanding what care options
are.
>> About 44 million
Americans or one in five adults
provide care for a family
member.
Many of them are also what is
known as the sandwich
generation, taking care of
parents and children of their
own, which further as to
financial stress.
>> We are just unprepared
for the fact that
people are going to live an
average of 20 years longer than
when our safety net was put in
place.
We need a new policy framework
and a new culture that helps us
adapt and embrace the fact that
we have longer to live which
also means longer to work,
longer to love, longer to teach
and contribute, longer to
connect.
>> The U.S. Census shows
the average wage in America is
$59,000 a year.
The average cost nationwide of a
semiprivate room in a nursing
home is roughly $89,000 a year.
On the other side of the coin,
Poo says the average annual
wage of a home health care
provider is as low as $13,000.
The numbers just don't add up.
>> The workforce we are counting
on to take care of our families
can't earn enough of a living
to take care of theirs doing
this work.
We often lose our best
caregivers to professions like
food service and it is a serious
issue because there is such a
need out there.
>> People who need care
cannot afford it.
People who provide care cannot
make a living doing so.
This is what Poo and Caring
Across Generations has set out
to fix.
She was instrumental in passing
legislation in Hawaii called the
caregivers program which went
into effect January 2018.
This groundbreaking bill allows
caregivers to apply for
a benefit of $70 a day to
hire respite care for the loved
ones they are caring for at
home.
Poo believes the vast number of
AAPI legislators in Hawaii
was the key to pushing the
bill through.
>> There really is a tradition
of caring for elders.
It's really
embedded community just
like it is in Asian communities
across the country and I see
Hawaii as groundbreaking
leadership on this issue as a
signal that this could be
something the Asian-American
community in general can lead
on.
>> She is currently working
on a campaign for universal
homecare which would allow
everyone in the state of Maine
to afford to pay a living wage
for their caregivers.
>> Because families and the
workforce are so interdependent,
when we resource families, we
can resource the workers.
When we resource the workers,
the families benefit.
>> The title of Poo's book,
The Age of Dignity,
refers not to just those who are
aging, but ensuring those who
are caring for them can also
live with dignity.
>> We are talking about two
populations that are quite
vulnerable.
The workers are quite vulnerable
and the elders are quite
vulnerable.
What we have to really value and
protect both.
>> Whether it is home
health care or the labor and
traffic world, Poo's mission is
to give everyone a voice so they
can play an active role in
changing their future.

Online Research Jobs: Make Money With Your Smarts - Duration: 7:17.- Hey, Angie Nelson here from theworkathomewife.com.
Today, we are going to be talking about
some great ways that you can make money from home
doing online research.
This is going to be a great video for you
if you're someone who loves to read and learn new things,
loves to do online research,
or maybe you're that friend everyone comes to for answers
to some of those useless trivia questions.
This is going to be a great video for you to find out
some pretty unique ways to make some money from home.
And don't forget to stay til the end of the video
to find out how you can get my seven-day series
on finding work at home free.
Now the first opportunity we are going to be talking about
is called Wonder.
Their website is askwonder.com.
And what they do is they invite their clients or customers
to ask questions on the site,
and then they have a bunch of Wonder researchers
that can go out and find answers to those questions.
Some of the popular research requested this time
might be recommending a product or a service,
explaining some trends and dealing with stats,
or determining the size of a market for a business owner.
There's really a wide variety of topics that they cover,
making it an opportunity that's open
to a lot of different people.
Depending on what your area of expertise
and your background are.
Now, according to Wonder on their site right now,
they say that some of their most active researchers
are earning over $2,000 per month on the website.
Now, to apply for this site, you do need to be accepted.
This isn't something that's just going to allow for
automatic acceptance.
You are going to have to actually apply to the site
and let them know what areas and categories
that you are most interested in.
And then you have to take a quiz,
and that will simply be answering
some simple online questions,
and you'll also have to complete a trial assignment.
Once you pass that quiz,
you'll be able to go onto the site
and start choosing the questions you want to answer
through their dashboard.
You'll then go out and find answers and sources,
and create a little online report for your client.
Then you're going to submit your work and get paid.
You can also become an expert on
this site called JustAnswer.
This site will allow you to apply as an expert
in over 175 different categories,
such as health, legal, pets,
or even One called homework.
Once you have applied and been accepted to this siTe,
you'll be able to set your own schedule,
and users are then able to go onto the site,
ask their questions.
They'll also be able to choose how much they want to pay.
You can then choose to answer those questions.
And if your answer is chosen,
you will be able to split what the pay is there
between you and JustAnswer.
It's usually around 20 to 50% commission.
And they pay by Paypal last time I checked.
Now, another great opportunity
for those of you love to research
is going to be freelance writing,
or even blogging.
In the online world,
everything is really dependent on
quality content these days.
Blogs need fresh new content regularly.
Websites need to have some quality material on their site
to support the services that they're offering.
And that also stems, in most cases,
from a freelance writer.
That person is going to go out, do the research that's needed,
and put together some great words of wisdom
for that company or client to share on their website.
Freelance writing is one of my favorite opportunities
for those new to work from home
that are looking for something really flexible.
Maybe if you have kids at home
or you're going to school yourself,
you need something that's going to allow you
to kind of work those fringe hours.
Maybe you need late nights, early mornings.
Maybe you need to have things be flexible from day to day.
Freelance writing can really allow you to accomplish that.
There are going to be some great sites that are
open to beginners out there,
otherwise you can reach out on your own
and start contacting those clients and websites
that you want to do business with.
Now maybe your best friend is Google.
In that case, a great research gig for you
might be search engine evaluation or even ad evaluation.
There are a couple of companies like
Lionbridge, Leapforce, and Appen
that hire these evaluators.
And what you're basically doing
is doing some Google searches based on their criteria,
and then letting these companies know
whether the results that you're given for those searches
or the ads that you're being served for your searches
are quality sites, if they're relevant to the topic,
and some other different things that they want to know.
Now these are some really great gigs
that a lot of my readers and followers love.
Many have been paid around 12 to $15 an hour.
They are going to be project-based
projects,
excuse me, project-based jobs though.
In many cases, they only last for a certain period of time,
and usually there's some kind of hourly commitment
whether that be you can only work one hour per day,
or maybe some projects will allow you to work
20 hours per week.
It's really going to be dependent on that project
that you're assigned to.
Now there are some court research jobs out there
that can be done online.
And some cases, what these are doing is maybe
looking up, researching transfers of property deeds
or finding out who owns the property,
things like that, that need to be done at the website,
excuse me, at the courthouse.
Now some courthouses around the US
do have everything available online today.
In those cases, if you live in one of those areas,
you may be able to do all of your work from home.
If you don't live an area
that the courthouse has everything available online,
you may have to actually get out
and go to the courthouse in order to do your research.
That being said, there are companies
that hire all across the United States
for these type of positions
And I'm going to leave you a link in the description below
to some of those companies
that you can start researching
and see what's available in your counties.
Now those are just a couple of opportunities
in the online research industry
that you can start checking out.
I'm also going to leave you a link in the description
to a list that has some other great opportunities
that are available on this field
that will really allow you to
use your brain power and those research skills
to make some extra money from home.
Now, if you liked today's video,
please go to like and share,
and make sure you're subscribed to my channel
so you'll get notification of the next video.
Until them, I wish you best of luck
in your work at home job search.

treat peanut butter the stuff you buy the shops that isn't sprouted as an

sweetener or some vanilla but to be honest I like it of just the taste of
the peanuts and the water does taste a bit different to normal roasted peanuts
it doesn't have that roasted flavor it has more of a raw earthy flavor so I
think it's really nice and it goes quite well in porridge or I quite like making
some quinoa porridge with it in the morning so it's a really high protein
porridge with quinoa and sprouted peanut milk the fibre leftover from the peanuts
as you strain them you can mix some nutritional yeast a bit of coconut oil
some salt and some herb to be a bit for a pata a cheese it's not like my smoked
cashew cheese it doesn't slice really well but it's still quite nice to have
as a pate and you don't wasting the fiber then alternatively if you're
making a pie or a pizza base just pick put the peanut fiber in that and it adds
bulk and fiber to it and a bit of texture let me know what you think of

How to Make a Santa Monica Green Smoothie with BonVie Weight Loss Portland / Santa Monica - Duration: 1:52.- Hi, it's Sharon at
BonVie Ideal Protein Weight Loss and Nutritional Wellness.
We all know we need more vegetables, right?
Especially the low-glycemic kind,
and if you're in our program, BonVie Weight Loss,
then you have some pretty good ideas
how to get that in and how many cups a day,
that's four cups of low-glycemic vegetables you need.
But, it can be a real challenge
to get in all those vegetables, right?
We have to shop, we have to chop,
we have to prepare, we have to actually sit down to eat.
So, here's what I do.
I make a Santa Monica green smoothie shake
and it gets me off to a very strong start
in the morning.
Our daughters love it, it just takes care
of a lot of their vegetable requirement during the day.
I use a NutriBullet blender because it's fast
and easy to clean up, and this whole process
only takes, like, 30 seconds.
So, let's get started.
So, I put in two to three cups of spinach,
fresh, frozen, you could use baby kale,
whatever herbs, greens that you like
that count towards your four cups
of required low-glycemic vegetables
during each and every day.
It's really good to have this in the morning
because it's quick, it's easy,
it really only takes 20 seconds.
I put my spinach in, I put some water
and some ice because you want it
at more of a thin consistency,
not gloopy and thick.
We use our shakes, of course,
the delicious Ideal Protein, I used Chocolate today.
Cappuccino, Vanilla are very popular,
Wild Berry Yogurt, lots of different flavors
to choose from, but make sure you use
a high-quality protein shake.
And voila, a nutritious, delicious way
to have a vegetable start to your day.

如何做一个葱油饼 || How to make a scallion pancake with dipping sauce [ENG sub] - Duration: 7:01.How to make a scallion pancake -- Please excuse my nail polish... I made this a few days before prom so I couldn't remove them :((
Add two cups of flour, some salt, and mix well
Pour boiling water into a bowl (with the flour mixture) and mix it simultaneously with chopsticks
[Once all the water is added,] then switch to kneading the dough with your hands
Cover [the dough] with cling film and a towel, and let the dough relax for an hour
Mince the green onion
Set the green onion aside
Remove the dough and put some flour on the cutting board
Roll out the dough
Spread some oil over the rolled out dough and sprinkle on the green onion
Roll up the dough
I tried two methods. For the first one, cut three thin slices.
Stack the three slices and smoosh them together
Or you can cut a thicker piece (about 2.5 in), pinch the sides together, flatten, then roll out
The green onions would fall out easily using the first method, so I used the second method for the rest of the pancakes
The rest is covered with plastic wrap to prevent moisture loss and there is also a paper towel to absorb the oil
Fry both sides until golden brown
Remove the excess oil
Cut and peel 2 tsp of ginger
Mince the ginger (I used a zester)
Add ginger [to bowl]
Add 1 tbsp of brown sugar
Add 3 tbsp of soy sauce
Add 2 tsp of rice vinegar
Add 1/2 tsp of sesame oil
Adjust to taste (I added more rice vinegar)
The finished dish
It tastes good!
Thanks for watching ;)

MANGA SENPAI STRIKES [10] Answer Joshua's question | How to make manga by Japanese manga-ka - Duration: 5:42.Hello World! I'm Manga Senpai!
I'm so excited today.
Because someone gave me a question!
Thanks a lot!
I'm happy that someone in oversea watching this video.
I'm very happy to know that.
I have a question from Joshua.
Thanks Joshua. You're Manga Kohai.
Well, I'll answer the question of Manga Kohai No.1!
I'll ignore the previous procedures to do that but I'll do it.
Yeah we've had the Q&A session though we didn't know that.
I'm waiting for your Qs. Any question related to drawing manga.
I know you're having struggle with drawing manga.
I want to know WHICH PART you're struggling with.
I want to know what you want to know.
Question from Joshua: "I would like to learn more about inking my manga. I am often confused about where to make lines thick or thin, adding thin detail lines on objects or clothing, and adding the solid black beta areas. Sometimes I feel my line work is too perfect and digital looking. I would also like to know the correct technique for inking objects and backgrounds as well. "
So his question is how to ink manga.
In Japanese manga culture, we call inking "Pen-ire".
"Pen-ire". Which process of manga making we are talking of?
Previously we did Name at first.
Then "Shitagaki". Sketching part.
And then we do inking in general manga making process.
Actually, I had have struggled with inking.
I had not get the anatomy of inking.
Though I tried hard,
my drawing ended in somehow childish quality.
I was wondering why it happened.
Once I was an assistant of a manga artist.
And he said like, Please draw the background like "DEATH NOTE".
The manga, "DEATH NOTE" has very realistic background. I'm like "What's the difference between "DEATH NOTE" and my drawing?"
And I founded a solution. I'll tell you that right now.
For example, drawing an electric pole.
Are there electric poles in your town? It's called Denchu in Japan.
-There are few cities with electric poles in Europe. -Really? That's bad.
In Japan, there are many electric poles. Please google it.
In English, electric pole? Electrical pole?
Denchu is very familiar in Japan. Many electric poles in almost every city.
Like this. Actually Denchu is not that big, but anyway...
Anyway, imagine you drew things like this.
At this stage, this drawing has no realism.
I consider why this kind of drawing has no reality.
What I want to tell you, Joshua,
what makes the inking line thin and thick is
light and shadow.
And I suppose it doesn't make any sense to you.
How we put the idea of light and shadow in our drawing?
At first,
just decide which direction the light comes from.
The position of the sun.
Just decide it roughly.
And consider which side the shadow was made.
The point is that, you ink shadows ONLY.
Just doing this, we can make a drawing more realistic.
This is where the light reflects, so I erase this line.
And this, and this.
These parts are where shadows made so I left these lines.
This is the light part.
This drawing gets more reality already. You see?
By only doing this method, it makes your drawing more realistic.
I think so. Real.
If you step further, you make the lines of darker part thicker.
And this is okay when you imagine strong light.
But maybe you would like more softer light. So these lines do not disappear completely.
Because it is soft, weak light, you can see thinner lines.
So you draw thin lines in lighter part.
And darker part thicker.
Then you add some details in darker parts. It makes your drawing more realistic!
Plus, the detail parts like this. You consider the same thing as the whole part. Light and shadow.
You draw just shadowy parts.
And erase the lighter parts.
You do not need these lines.
It will be like this. And this is enough,
If you draw shadowy parts, human brain complements the shape of lighter parts.
So you draw shadowy parts and omit lighter parts. It brings more realism to your work!
Now I'll tell you about how to draw a texture.
Different materials have different shape of bumps of inking line.
If this electric pole is made of knitting wool,
the line will be more fluffy like this.
But electric pole is made of concrete generally.
So we draw this with straight lines.
However, there are wooden electric poles in old days.
If you'd like to draw that,
you can draw grain of wood with thin lines like this.
This little difference of thin lines makes a feeling of texture and materials.
How we apply this method to character drawing?
It's same thing.
You draw things like this.
By the way, your drawing of a girl was very good, Joshua.
First, you decide where the sunlight comes from.
Then, consider where the shadows drop.
For example, this part. You make the line little bit thicker.
Just a little. This is a little difference of the line but it made a big difference of the drawing.
And the shadows made by cloths. Like this.
This is a collar. You put a little shadow like this.
And this is where the light falls, so the line will be thiner.
This part is where shadow drops so you can make the like thicker.
This is shadow so I paint it in black.
This is lighter part so thinner line.
Like this.
This is it for today. I'd like to gather questions from you guys. Then I'll get many things to talk about. That's great.
Thank you Joshua!

Mind Power Can Make Dreams Become Real (listen and learn) - Duration: 11:23.Visualization is the process of making mental images, and the image is the mold or
model which will serve as a pattern from which your future will emerge.
Make the pattern clear, and make it beautiful; don't be afraid — make it grand.
Remember that no limitation can be placed upon you by any one but yourself;
you are not limited as to cost or material; draw on the Infinite for your supply,
construct it in your imagination; it will have to be there before it will ever appear
anywhere else.
Make the image clear and clean-cut, hold it firmly in the mind and you will gradually
and constantly bring the thing nearer to you.
You can be what you will to be.
This is another psychological fact which is well known, but unfortunately reading
about it will not bring about any result which you may have in mind; it will not
even help you to form the mental image, much less bring it into manifestation.
Work is necessary — labor, hard mental labor, the kind of effort which so few are
willing to put forth.
The first step is idealization.
It is likewise the most important step, because it is the
plan on which you are going to build.
It must be solid; it must be permanent.
The architect, when he plans a 30-story building,
has every line and detail pictured in advance.
The engineer, when he spans a chasm, first ascertains the strength requirements
of a million separate parts.
They see the end before a single step is taken; so you are to picture in your mind
what you want; you are sowing the seed, but before sowing any seed you want to
know what the harvest is to be.
This is Idealization.
If you are not sure, return to the chair daily until the picture becomes
plain.
It will gradually unfold — first the general plan will be dim, but it will take
shape, the outline will take form, then the details, and you will gradually develop the
power by which you will be enabled to formulate plans which will eventually materialize
in the objective world.
You will come to know what the future holds for you.
Then comes the process of visualization.
You must see the picture more and more complete, see the detail, and as the details
begin to unfold the ways and means for bringing it into manifestation will develop.
One thing will lead to another.
Thought will lead to action, action will develop methods, methods will develop
friends, and friends will bring about circumstances, and finally, the third step, or
Materialization, will have been accomplished.
We all recognize that the Universe must have been thought into shape before
it ever could have become a material fact.
And if we are willing to follow along the lines of the Great Architect of the Universe,
we shall find our thoughts taking form, just as the universe took concrete form.
It is the same mind operating through the individual.
There is no difference in kind or quality, the only difference
is one of degree.
The architect visualizes his building, he sees it as he wishes it to be.
His thought becomes a plastic mould from which the building
will eventually emerge, a high one or a low one, a beautiful one or a plain
one, his vision takes form on paper and eventually the necessary material is utilized
and the building stands complete.
The inventor visualizes his idea in exactly the same manner.
For instance, Nikola Tesla, he with the giant intellect, one of
the greatest inventors of all ages, the man who has brought forth the most amazing realities,
always visualizes his inventions before attempting to work them out.
He does not rush to embody them in form and then spend his time in correcting defects.
Having first built up the idea in his imagination, he holds it there as a mental
picture, to be reconstructed and improved by his thought.
"In this way," he writes in the Electrical Experimenter,
"I am enabled to rapidly develop and perfect a conception without touching anything.
When I have gone so far as to embody in the invention every possible improvement
I can think of, and see no fault anywhere, I put into concrete the product
of my brain.
Invariably my devise works as I conceived it should; in twenty
years there has not been a single exception."
If you can conscientiously follow these directions, you will develop Faith, the
kind of Faith that is the "Substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things
not seen;" you will develop confidence, the kind of confidence that leads to endurance
and courage; you will develop the power of concentration which will
enable you to exclude all thoughts except the ones which are associated with your
purpose.
The law is that thought will manifest in form, and only one who knows how to be
the divine thinker of his own thoughts can ever take a Master's place and speak
with authority.
Clearness and accuracy are obtained only by repeatedly having the image in
mind.
Each repeated action renders the image more clear and accurate than the
preceding, and in proportion to the clearness and accuracy of the image will the
outward manifestation be.
You must build it firmly and securely in your mental
world—the world within—before it can take form in the world without, and you
can build nothing of value even in the mental world unless you have the proper
material.
When you have the material you can build anything you wish, but make
sure of your material.
You cannot make broadcloth from shoddy.
This material will be brought out by millions of silent mental workers and fashioned
into the form of the image which you have in mind.
Think of it!
You have over five million of these mental workers, ready and in
active use—brain cells they are called.
Besides this, there is another reserve force of at least an equal number, ready to be called
into action at the slightest need.
Your power to think, then, is almost unlimited, and this means that your power to
Create the kind of material which is necessary to build for yourself any kind of
environment which you desire is practically unlimited.
In addition to these millions of mental workers, you have billions of mental workers
in the body, every one of which is endowed with sufficient intelligence to understand
and act upon any message or suggestion given.
These cells are all busy creating and recreating the body, but, in
addition to this, they are endowed with psychic activity whereby they can attract
to themselves the substance necessary for perfect development.
They do this by the same law and in the same manner that every form of life attracts
to itself the necessary material for growth.
The oak, the rose, the lily—all require certain material for their most perfect
expression and they secure it by silent demand, the Law of Attraction, the
most certain way for you to secure what you require for your most complete development.
Make the Mental Image.
Make it clear, distinct, perfect; hold it firmly; the ways
and means will develop; supply will follow the demand; you will be led to do the
right thing at the right time and in the right way.
Earnest Desire will bring about Confident Expectation, and this in turn must
be reinforced by Firm Demand.
These three cannot fail to bring about Attainment, because the Earnest Desire is
the feeling, the Confident Expectation is the thought, and the Firm Demand is
the will, and, as we have seen, feeling gives vitality to thought and the will holds it
steadily until the Law of Growth brings it into manifestation.
Is it not wonderful that man has such tremendous power within himself, such
transcendental faculties concerning which he had no conception?
Is it not strange that we have always been taught to look for
strength and power "without?"
We have been taught to look everywhere but "within"
and whenever this power manifested in our lives we were told that it was something
supernatural.
There are many who have come to an understanding of this wonderful power,
and who make serious and conscientious efforts to realize health, power, and
other conditions, and seem to fail.
They do not seem able to bring the Law into operation.
The difficulty in nearly every case is that they are dealing with externals.
They want money, power, health, and abundance, but they fail to realize that
these are effects and can come only when the cause is found.
Those who will give no attention to the world without, "will seek only to ascertain
the truth, will look only for wisdom, will find that this wisdom will unfold and disclose
the source of all power, that it will manifest in thought and purpose which
will create the external conditions desired.
This truth will find expression in noble purpose and courageous action."
Create ideals only.
Give no thought to external conditions.
Make the world within beautiful and opulent and the world without
will express and manifest the condition which you have made within.
You will come into a realization of your power to create ideals and these ideals will be
projected into the world of effect.
For instance, a man is in debt.
He will be continually thinking about the debt,
concentrating on it, and as thoughts are causes the result is that he not only fastens
the debt closer to him, but actually creates more debt.
He is putting the great Law of Attraction into operation with the
usual and inevitable result—Loss leads to greater "Loss."
What, then, is the correct principle?
Concentrate on the things you want, not on the things you do not want.
Think of abundance; idealize the methods and plans
for putting the Law of Abundance into operation.
Visualize the condition which the Law of Abundance creates—this will result
in manifestation.
If the law operates perfectly to bring about poverty, lack, and every form of
limitation for those who are continually entertaining thoughts of lack and fear, it
will operate with the same certainty to bring about conditions of abundance and
opulence for those who entertain thoughts of courage and power.
This is a difficult problem for many; we are too anxious; we manifest anxiety, fear,
distress; we want to do something; we want to help; we are like a child who has
just planted a seed and every fifteen minutes goes out and stirs up the earth to see
if it is growing.
Of course, under such circumstances, the seed will never germinate,
and yet this is exactly what many of us do in the mental world.
We must plant the seed and leave it undisturbed.
This does not mean that we are to sit down and do nothing, by no means; we
will do more and better work than we have ever done before.
New channels will constantly be provided, new doors
will open—all that is necessary is to have an open mind.
Be ready to act when the time comes.
Thought force is the most powerful means of obtaining knowledge, and if concentrated
on any subject will solve the problem.
Nothing is beyond the power of human comprehension, but in order to harness
thought force and make it do your bidding, work is required.
Remember that thought is the fire that creates the steam that turns the wheel of
fortune, upon which your experiences depend.
Now ask yourself a few questions and then reverently await the response: Do you not
now and then feel the self within you?
Do you assert this self or do you follow the majority?
Remember that majorities are always led, they never lead.
It was the majority that fought, tooth and nail, against
the steam engine, the power loom, and every other advance or improvement ever
suggested.

The Biggest Mistake People Make with Online Video - Duration: 1:20.I would say the biggest mistake we see entrepreneurs make when it comes to
using online video is they're not consistent with it. There's a lot of
people that try it, or they'll do one, they'll start the process, and
they just won't follow through, either because they don't have the time, or they
find it too difficult or overwhelming. So in order to really be effective with
your online videos, your audience wants to see you on a regular basis. They want
to get to know you over time. So being consistent is really, really important as
part of that online video process. We like to actually say that video is a
process, not an event. Meaning, you don't just do one video, and wipe your
hands, and call it a day, and say "okay, that's it, that's all the video I'm doing
for my business." You really do need to put it out on a regular basis.
People need to get to know you, and your videos are going to help people to get to
know you over time, and that's ultimately going to lead to more clients and customers.
And in this day and age, where the world is shifting to a video-first mentality,
people want to see you. They want to know what's going on. They want to learn from
you. They want to hear about your story. There's no more powerful way to do that
than through video, and to be consistent with it is the way to really put
yourself in front of your audience ongoing in a way that they're going to
build up that know, like, and trust factor.

टोफू को इस तरह बनाएंगे तो पनीर भूल जाएंगे। How to Make Tofu - Chili Dry with Onion Capsicum recipe - Duration: 8:13.
Hello Viewers ! Welcome to the Dims World
Friendz, our today's recipe is made with TOFU
Its gonna be very yum yum
and this is very good alternate..
.. for Paneer, its very rich in protein
and You must try this recipe at home
So Let's get started..
As you can see this is TOFU
Now we gonna slice it in cubes
You may slice it as you would like to have
This is 250 Grams of Tofu
we will slice it in Square / cubes
Tofu is best substitute of PANEER
Whenever You buy tofu from super market
and till the time we don't cook it
You should unpack and keep it in a container bowl
and must change the water daily
till the time you gonna cook it
and need not to keep into deep freezer
just dip into fresh water in a container / bowl
till the time you're not cooking it just change the water
So now here after changing its water
I wrapped it into 5-6 layers of paper towel
and kept it aside for 3 hours by putting
some weight on it, (could be heavy book)
so that extra water gets drained out
So now we can proceed further with cooking
In a big bowl add 1.5 tbspn
all purpose flour ( Maida)
or named as or white flour
then add 1 tbspn Corn starch
alternately you may add corn flour
1/4 T-spn salt
or as per your taste
1 tspn red chili paste
we will add water accordingly
to make thick paste
You have to make thicker paste..
to quote the TOFU with it
Now the Thick paste is ready
so now we gonna add
the sliced TofuS in it
and now we
will quote all the tofus by all side
then we will deep fry them in cooking oil
Deep frying pan is ready on stove
with hot oil
Friend, if you're very much health conscious
then you may fry it with Olive oil
apart from that coconut oil is also healthy
now slowly we gonna put it into hot oil
we need to deep fry them thoroughly
Its properly fried now & can put it off stove
and take them out on a tissue paper
Now for TOFU we need to make SLURRY
to make that, Add 1 tbspn
tomato sauce
1 tspn vinegar
Pinch of salt
we will add soya sauce later & that contains salt too
so make sure it should not get too salty
so carefully add salt as per taste
then add 1 tbspn soya sauce
1 tbspn green chili sauce
pinch of MSG Ajinomoto
and add some black pepper
Now Mix everything well
it will enhance the overall flavor of our recipe
So now our Slurry is also ready
So now. You can see here, I have chopped veggies
I have taken 1 green capsicum here
if you like you can take red or
yellow for better presentation
and I I have sliced onion in medium size,
grated ginger & garlic
and 1 green chili
Now on a stove, Have kept Deep frying nonstick pan
now here we will add
2-3 Tspn cooking oil
so now oil is hot
and 1st of all we will add garlic & ginger in it
Followed by green chili
THEN GREEN CAPSICUM*
And Onions
and saute
cook it on low flame
we will cook it for 1 to 2 mins only
and keeping sauteing
then later will add the slurry
after 2 mins you can add slurry in it
mix it well
let it be boiled for a while
as you can see now the sauce is
boiled & cooked properly
Now its time to add
The fried TOFU in it
And quote the sauce on TOFU thoroughly
This is going to be very tasty recipe i bet
You must try this one in your home kitchen
