We're back Doty Road. and this one I'm excited about.
because this feels like an actual race this time.
I hit the nitrous twice.
the idea behind this entire episode is to have fun with it. and show everybody how nitrous
is normally used. and why people install it on their car.
before moving on to using nitrous in the see-through engine series.
but first we need to start off where this all began.
a good friend of mine Alex has challenged me to a race.
between the see through car and his C 43 AMG.
I think this car is ready for a drag race.
the engine is in great running condition.
fantastic tires.
seat belts.
airbags except for one airbag that deployed in a previous episode.
the only thing that this car needs before a drag race or any type of further abuse.
is motor mounts. in the last episode where I run this car through the pothole ridden
streets.
with these huge potholes.
I think because the engine was jumping around so much.
it completely broke the left motor mount. and I just want to show you how bad that motor
mount is before I repair it.
okay the car is up in the air we're working on the motor mounts. after this race with
Alex I start up the new series with the see-through car. and a lifetime warranty on parts that
is what this car needs.
here's the motor mounts here from FCP Euro. if you take a look at this motor mount you
can clearly see that this is an oem motor mount.
the motor mounts are done the car is ready to go.
Alex said this was a super easy job.
this not super easy.
alright let's see how that feels.
wow it's like super smooth feels like a brand new car.
alright I feel like I'm going to beat him the car feels way better and actually feels
kind of fast.
so let's see what happens.
okay I'm here at Doty Road it's not exactly what I remember it to be.
but it's smooth and straight.
it's always something now I'm having issues with the gears shifting.
I don't know what's going on it's slipping out of.
like it goes into first gear I floor it it slips out of second gear.
and I need to restart the car it's really weird.
but we are here the permits are pulled the race has to happen whether this car is prepared or not
okay so that was our first race I left them in the dust.
I beat him like buy a car and a half and
Alex is not happy about that he wants a rematch.
I don't know this is the first time that this car has made it through every gear.
I had to let off in between and that I'm sure cost me some time.
it's this transmission problem that I'm having.
I'm going to try to figure out why this thing is not shifting.
it's also just jumping into neutral.
I decided to bring this car back to the garage and check out the transmission.
because these cars have a very common problem with something called the conductor plate.
okay now that I know the old part is bad.
I went online and I ordered this stuff for the Mercedes from FCP Euro. all right so all
the parts showed up next day overnight because we need to get this done. and this is the
conductor plate here these are all original equipment parts.
the only thing FCP Euro has to do is grind down the casting marking.
that said like Mercedes or whoever the manufacturer was. and this is why I want to show everybody
this because this is basically what you get from FCP Euro.
I mean these are all original parts and great prices.
this is the whole kit so that's all the stuff now I just have to put it on the car.
take the car for a test drive.
finally this transmission is fixed finally let me tell you something this feeling feels
way faster then it was before.
I'm actually really excited about this.
so the next thing I'm going to do I'm going to get this nitrous kit on.
but there's one thing I want to address before that.
this thing never burned out like this before so now we have traction problems.
and I have just the thing in mind.
all right that felt fantastic I couldn't even do a burnout the car had plenty of traction.
I think I have it pretty dialed-in I have gears.
the trans is working great no slippage. and if you look at the high-speed footage you
can clearly see that there was some wheel spin.
I didn't really feel anything but we definitely have traction.
next thing let's get the nitrous installed.
oh look at that they actually love me they sent me the purple bottle.
this is an icon right here.
the next thing that I'm going to do is get the nitrous installed.
oh yeah that looks good right about there.
what's up Alex what's going on?.
How's this thing on the highway?. it's good man you know it's almost like riding a motorcycle
with a big windshield.
following you is dangerous for other people.
everybody has their phones out recording while they're driving.
is this out of a Shop-Vac?.
yeah I think this is a vacuum cleaner filter actually.
but if it right on there and you know hillbilly mechanics.
that's cold air induction right there.
that's right.
the car is fixed the Transmissions working great.
got The nitrous kit installed.
I have slicks on the back.
I think I can beat Alex without even spraying
and this has been by far the easiest nitrous
kit I have ever installed it's basically only three components.
you have the nitrous controller right over here.
then we have the Jets inside the engine compartment there that spray the nitrous and fuel mix
into the intake and then if we walk around to the back of the car over here.
last but definitely not least this is our nitrous bottle.
without nitrous well we don't have nitrous right.
and this heater works really fantastic this whole bottle is warm.
there aiming toward about 950 PSI which is optimal.
but yeah that's about it that's what the nitrous kit consist of.
super easy to install let's get racing.
nice and hot we're all set ready to race but there's only one thing I didn't do yet.
and that's test the nitrous to make sure it works.
I'm going to take this for a quick run down Doty rd
and test the nitrous make sure it works.
and see how it feels and then we're going to get the race set up.
I'm just going to spray it really quickly to make sure it's working.
and that's it because I need to race him and if I blow up the engine now no race.
alright let these cars clear then we're going to go purge it.
that Mercedes symbol is getting nice and Frozen.
alright here we go we're clear.
hit it nitrous activated
whoa that didn't sound good.
there's a lot of pinging going on but that's probably because I don't have a cold plugs.
well anyway let's do this race I think the car is ready.
if the engine grenades it happens but yeah I think it's ready let's go.
even after that nitrous mishap it still has some umph. because I think I beat him by a
good car or so.
I even beat him so bad that I let off at the end so he didn't feel so bad.
we're going to do one more race with the nitrous and call it a day. and then move on to the
next episode where I show you how nitrous actually works with the high-speed cameras
in the see-through engine. and that's what this is leading up to.

race number 2 with a 75 shot of nitrous here it goes.
okay so it looks like the 75 horsepower makes a big difference.
because it broke the tires loose and lit the tires up so let's go see Alex and see what
he has to say and then close this episode out.
that went really well I beat Alex.
yeah went well for you and I had to hit the nitrous twice.
I hit it on accident when I took off and then for some reason the nitrous is getting stuck.
I turned off the switch turned the switch on hit it again.
but I still beat him.
I would say excuses excuses but you won and the high-speed footage reveals I beat you
by about a car.
we had a high speed camera setup down at the end for that last race.
well man it was a good race dude that was awesome.
I didn't know it was going to be this much fun when I originally started doing this.
I'm having a blast this thing might be slow but I'm having a good time.
but yeah overall this is good and this gives you an example
of what nitrous does on your car.
it's basically a power adder you just bolted on and add power.
just don't add too much power because did you hear that engine.
that thing sounded like a maraca. it's holding up quite well yeah it's holding up good well.
that was good man thanks a lot that was awesome okay.
well after that run the nitrous bottle it's actually quite cold.
I disconnected the heater because initially it was just spraying too much nitrous. and
it was making the engine make all kinds of rattling noise.
which is pre ignition which is an engines enemy.
and I think I'm down to about 700 PSI but that was a good race.

the last thing I want to do before ending this episode is what everybody says not to do
and that is hit the nitrous from a standstill.
but before just for a comparison I'm going to take off from a standstill full throttle
with no nitrous.
alright so that felt pretty normal with these slicks it's hard to break.
so this next clip I'm going to hit the nitrous from a standstill just like this.
flick the switch turn the nitrous on.
