Singing High Notes Was Impossible Until This Happened - Duration: 6:38.

Singing high notes was impossible until this happened.

It was a pivotal moment that changed everything about my singing.

It began with a simple flyer brought home from school by my 15 year old daughter.

I was 43 years old and I had given up on singing.

When I was young I sang all the time.

My Dad reminded me that when I was 3 years old, I used to march through the house and

sing, "Yankee Doodle".

Except I had a special ending.

I sang: "Stuck a Feather in his hat and called it macaroni…. and cheese!"

I remember watching Davy Crockett on Walt Disney.

I sang the theme song all the time.

My mom told me that when I was about 3 or 4 years old, I would ride a little wooden

toy pony back and forth, back and forth, singing at the top of my lungs, "Davey, Davey Crockett,

King of the wild frontier!"

I sang in grade school, junior high and high school choirs.

I was in high school Madrigals three years.

We toured Europe during the summer of 1971!

In high school I fell in love with musical theater and played "King Arthur" in Camelot

and "Enoch Snow" in Carousel.

I entered college as a music major.

My voice teacher during high school had her Masters in Vocal Performance.

She had recorded an album and was a well know singer and teacher in my hometown of Saint

Joseph, Missouri.

During my lessons I realized I couldn't sing past the E4 (the E above middle C) without

yelling, straining, going flat or breaking.

I didn't try for the lead character, "Billy Bigelow" in Carousel because I couldn't

sing the F4.

Another problem I had was I had no vibrato.

My teacher said if I wasn't born with it I didn't have it.

In college I had two teachers who believed I could sing higher, but didn't know how

to help me do it.

However, I knew from years of experience that E4 was the top of my range.

After my first year of college, I left for a two year mission to Los Angeles, CA, for

the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

While serving in Santa Barbara during Christmas of 1972, I was asked to sing a solo in our

morning services.

I was awful.

I was pitchy, my tone quality was poor, and I embarrassed myself and the congregation.

It was a serious blow to my confidence.

I felt very discouraged.

I began to believe that I was not capable of a career in music and singing.

I just wasn't born with the physical abilities I needed to sing really well.

How could I teach others if I couldn't do it myself?

When I returned to college I changed my major.

I didn't sing a solo again in public for 25 years.

However, I greatly missed performing.

I got depressed watching live musical theater.

I felt so bad not being on stage and not singing.

I felt these feelings frequently.

After college I married Judy and we had a large family of eight children.

I went to work as a salesman in the medical-surgical field.

In the fall of 1996, my oldest daughter brought home a flyer from school announcing a vocal

workshop with the Los Angeles Vocal Coach of the Stars, Seth Riggs.

The flyer said he was Michael Jackson's vocal coach!

My wife and I with our 3 oldest daughters attended the workshop with Seth Riggs.

Then a pivotal moment happened!

We did this silly vocal exercise called bubble lips!

Like this.

Wow...what just happened?

I realized my voice just went higher than ever before, but it didn't strain or crack.

How could that happen without my voice breaking into falsetto.

The moment I felt my voice shift up into my head everything changed.

Until that moment, I thought it was impossible for my voice to go that high.

I began studying Seth Riggs' vocal technique.

Gradually my voice began to transform.

Within several months I sang higher than I'd ever sung before.

I discovered that E4 was a transition area leading to something called head voice.

I sang an F4 in the song, "Maria" from West Side Story.

It was like a miracle to me.

And I developed vibrato.

It was another miracle!

By fall of 1997 I was cast in the musical, "Phantom" by Maury Yeston.

Twenty-one years later I'm finishing my 40th show...most of them musicals.

I've had the great blessing of performing many lead singing roles like Don Quixote,

Peron, The King from "The King and I", Scrooge, Captain Hook, and many more.

The joy and fulfilment I've experienced with my singing is something my family and

I will always treasure.

Never give up on your singing and performing dreams.

You can reach them!

Your own life changing moment might happen one day when you see a simple flyer from school,

or a video on the internet.

Your singing and your life will never the the same.

WATCH: I am happy my side was heard - De Lille - Duration: 1:06.

I'm very happy today that the court heard my side and my version of events.

And that the judgment has been reserved for later in the week and of course we all wait

for the judgment.

To me it became very clear that the whole Eusebius McKaiser thing was just used as another

of trying to get rid of me.

On my version I feel that I'm still the mayor of the City of Cape Town.

Service delivery is a big team effort.

The mayor leading the service delivery, making sure that I monitor and evaluate service delivery.

The members are there to assist the mayor and in this period where there is uncertainty

who the stuff must listen to and who I must take instruction from it will in fact impact

of service delivery.

So the sooner we get closure to that the better for service delivery in our city.

What was Paul Pogba'S april highlight? | Man United News Now #mufc - Duration: 1:30.

Paul Pogba has picked out his highlight from April after being voted Manchester United's

Player of the Month.

The Frenchman beat off competition from team-mates Ander Herrera and Alexis Sanchez to claim

the star-man award for the second time this term, after also winning the accolade back

in August.

April was a successful month for Pogba, with the dynamic midfielder scoring three goals,

and registering two assists in the Reds' five games during the month in all competitions.

He was instrumental in United's magnificent turnaround against Manchester City, scoring

twice in as many minutes in the second half, as the Reds came from two goals down to win

3-2 at the Etihad Stadium, and put our cross-city rivals' title celebrations on hold.

When asked what stood out for him in April, Pogba told: "I would definitely say City

is the best memory, even if they did win the league."

The 25-year-old expressed his gratitude to the United fans who voted for him in our poll

on Twitter, and insists his sole focus is on helping the Reds to end the season on a

high.

Moments After These Ducklings' Mom Was Killed By A Car, One Man Stepped Up To Try And Rescue Them - Duration: 4:51.

When seven tiny ducklings were left orphaned on a busy road, one guy took it upon himself

to bring them home.

After researching how to raise them online, the selfless rescuer became the greatest surrogate

mom they could have wished for.

It all began when a Reddit user name Jacob came across a dead duck while he was out driving

in his car one day.

As her body lay there lifeless, her orphaned ducklings scurried around her on the busy

round in a desperate bid to wake her up.

It appeared the mother duck had been run over by a car.

So, unable to live with himself if her tiny babies met the same fate, Jacob did a U-turn

in order to shoo them off the road and away from danger.

Then, with their feathers slightly ruffled by all the commotion, the ducklings gathered

by a closed garage door where they huddled together tightly for warmth.

Unable to leave them, Jacob placed them in a cardboard box and told his wife he was bringing

seven little ducklings home.

By the time the entourage got back to the house, Jacob's wife and children had already

prepared a temporary home for their new lodgers.

They placed a towel at the bottom of a plastic bin and helped the baby ducks get settled

into their new abode.

However, the family soon discovered that ducklings can jump pretty high, so to keep their new

brood from escaping they placed tennis rackets over the top of the bin.

In the meantime, the duck squad got to work building a state-of-the-art, heated duck hotel.

Jacob then laid out some food and water for the ducklings, who quickly made themselves

at home.

After that, the he crossed his fingers in the hope that the ducks would survive the

night.

Thankfully, though, the quacking guests were quite comfortable and when everyone awoke

the following day it was time for the birds to find a more permanent home.

Using the Internet, the family found a local wildlife rehab organization that agreed to

take the ducklings in until they could be released back into the wild.

All that was left to do was to hand the little fluff balls over ¬– but of course not until

they were all given names.

The family christened the ducks: Buddy, Ducky Mo-Mo, Scrooge McDuck, Sarah, Flower, Fluffy

and Grapes.

Then everyone jumped into the family van to take the ducks on to their next adventure.

Although the journey took only 20 minutes, Jacob admitted it was a tough drive.

"I have to say, there were a lot of tears among my girls on the trip.

No one wanted to say goodbye," he wrote on Reddit.

"But we agreed it was better to have been able to help the ducks and then say goodbye

than to have never met them in the first place."

So, after helping to drop off the seven babies at the wildlife rehab, Jacob's eight-year-old

daughter declared her eagerness to work with animals in the future.

And in light of the events, the post encouraged others to help animals as well.

"I'd say helping baby ducks is a lot like helping people, he wrote.

"They don't come with manuals, they may run away when you try to help them, and they'll

probably cost you time and money.

But you don't have to do everything right.

Just do something."

Thankfully, the Jacob isn't alone in having a desire to help animals.

In Titirangi, New Zealand, a team of volunteer firefighters went above and beyond their call

of duty to rescue eight ducklings.

When the heroes arrived on the scene, they found a distraught mother duck crying next

to a drain cover.

Her babies had fallen down the gaps in the drain cover and were squeaking from the bottom

of the ditch.

Wasting no time, one of the firefighters dangled head-first into the hole while another one

held onto his legs.

In amazing footage of the rescue, the nervous mom can be heard quacking loudly as the firemen

try to reach her little ones.

At one point, the duck charges angrily at one of the rescuers, not knowing they are

there to help.

Despite the harassment, the fire crew carefully retrieved the adorable ducklings and kept

them grouped in a traffic cone for safety.

The team worked tirelessly until they had rescued all eight ducklings.

After a quick double-check down the drain, the rescuers were satisfied that they'd

found all of the duck's missing brood.

The team then walked to a nearby park to reunite the family.

Once in the park, the firemen began to release the ducklings from the traffic cone one-by-one.

The mother duck seemed to confirm each of her darling babies was accounted for and then

loudly quacked again.

"One happy mum," remarks one firefighter as he films the jubilant reunion.

"I think she's telling them off," he later adds, before letting out a little giggle.

And with that the mother and her ducklings waddle off into the sunset together.

It seems both sets of lucky ducks captured the public's heart.

Indeed, the firefighters' rescue video received over 200,000 views within 24 hours of going

online, while Jacob's Reddit feed obtained hundreds of comments.

Both stories go to show that by taking a little time and effort, we can really make a difference

in our fellow animals' lives.

The Hilarious Infinity War Line That Was Dave Bautista Improv - Duration: 3:55.

Despite its seriousness, Avengers: Infinity War is at times a pretty lighthearted movie,

and in keeping with Marvel Studios tradition, a lot of its best moments are totally improvised.

We're getting into major spoilers for Infinity War, so turn back now if you're one of the

three people on Earth who hasn't seen it.

A new interview with the film's screenwriters on Yahoo Entertainment has shed light on one

of Infinity War's biggest laugh-out-loud moments, revealing it to be a clever bit of improv

from Dave Bautista, who plays Drax.

According to Christopher Markus, who co-wrote the script for Infinity War with Stephen McFeely,

Bautista made a significant addition the script, punching the scene up by throwing in an extra

quip for Drax at the end of one exchange.

Markus explained:

"The script only said, 'Where is Gamora?'

'I'll do you even better: Who is Gamora?'

And then one day Bautista just goes, 'I'll do you one better: Why is Gamora?'

It's like, 'OK, you're very good at your job.'"

The hilarious Drax line is just one of the examples from Infinity War of an actor elevating

what was in the script to something even more resonant.

According to the movie's co-director Joe Russo, Spider-Man actor Tom Holland completely improvised

his final scene, after Thanos successfully managed to disintegrate half of all life in

the universe.

Thanks to the actor's heartbreakingly realistic performance, his disintegration hit many viewers

the hardest of them all, while also inspiring a pretty solid meme.

The improvisation in Infinity War is par for the course for Marvel Studios, which has reportedly

produced entire films that are composed mostly of improv.

Jeff Bridges revealed years ago that much of 2008's Iron Man was essentially improvised,

saying:

"They had an outline.

We would show up for big scenes every day and we wouldn't know what we were going to

say."

"All the guys are in the studio, tapping their foot, looking at the watch, and we're in my

trailer trying to figure out our lines, man!"

The loose approach for that first film wasn't necessarily an accident, as Don Cheadle has

said that Iron Man 2 also lacked a locked-in script, explaining:

"To be honest, we did improv a lot.

We were very often sort of on a journey of discovery in the scenes."

While other movies in the MCU have generally had completed scripts, most of them have at

times allowed an atmosphere of improvisation.

"When you're standing around set for hours, you think of dumb stuff to say, and sometimes

you say it when they're rolling."

One of those moments took place in Captain America: Civil War, during Tony Stark's first

scene with Peter Parker.

According to the movie's official commentary track, Holland forgot the blocking of the

scene while they were shooting it, and Downey telling him to "move the leg" was his way

of saving the scene while staying in character.

"I'm gonna sit here, so you move the leg."

The second movie in the MCU, The Incredible Hulk, also featured an entire scene of improv.

William Hurt said that his post-credit scene as General Ross didn't have any lines written

down.

"I hear you have an unusual problem."

"You should talk."

"You should listen."

Each Avengers movie has at least one great little improvised moment.

Tony Stark offered Captain America some blueberries in The Avengers because Downey had a habit

of hiding snacks around set and taking them out during scenes.

"In a few hours, I'll know every dirty secret S.H.I.E.L.D. has ever tried to hide. Blueberry?"

In Age of Ultron, Jeremy Renner took a moment to ad-lib a joke about shooting Quicksilver

in the midst of all the action.

"Nobody would know.

Nobody.

'And the last I saw him was when Ultron was sitting on him', yeah I'll be missed.

Quick little bastard."

But the most improv-heavy movie in the MCU is likely Thor: Ragnarok, according to director

Taika Waititi.

"I would say we improvised probably 80 percent of the film."

It's an approach that feels risky, but with enough talent in the room, it's apparently

an approach that works.

"Time works real different around these parts.

On any other world I'd be like millions of years old, but here on Sakar…"
