Hey everybody. Rene here from O'Reilly Auto Parts to

show you how to adjust the rear view and side view mirror's on your car truck or

SUV. Those mirrors are pretty important, they're the best way to know what's

happening behind you in traffic. Some vehicles will have motorized adjusters

for your side view mirrors and some will have manual toggles you can use to get

them just right. Depending on your vehicle the use of these controls will

vary slightly. You'll find instructions for operation in your owners manual so

let's assume you've taken a look at those instructions so we can focus on

the important things, when and how they should be adjusted. First of all, always

adjust your mirrors before you start driving. Trying to do it while you're

already on the road is putting you and other drivers at risk. Which leads us to

how. You want to adjust the three mirrors in a way that minimizes your blind spots.

So before you do anything try to position yourself in the driver's seat

the way you would be positioned if you are actually driving. Then manually

adjust the rearview mirror on your windshield so that it's showing you as

much of the back window as possible. Now adjust the driver side mirror until you

can see the road or driveway behind you at the bottom of the mirror, and the side

of the vehicle is barely visible on the right-hand side of the mirror. Having

your vehicle at the edge of the reflection will give you a steady point

of reference for what you're seeing in the mirror relative to your vehicle. The

passenger side mirror typically allows you to see a little more than the

driver's side mirror does, which is why objects are closer than they appear. So

adjust it until the back bumper or lower corner of your vehicle is in the bottom

left-hand corner of the mirror. And that's it. If you start driving and find

that any minor adjustments are needed wait until you've stopped for a moment

to do your fine-tuning. Our DIY videos are designed to help answer questions we

How To: Check Your Vehicle's Tire Pressure - Duration: 2:55.

[Mechanical SFX]

Hey everybody. Jeremy here from O'Reilly Auto Parts

to show you how to check your tire pressure. Proper tire inflation can affect

everything from the longevity of your tires to your fuel economy, so it's an

important thing to check on a monthly basis. It's also a good idea to check

when temperatures have fluctuated significantly, before road trips, or any

time your vehicle is loaded down more than usual. Your vehicle's manufacturer

will recommend an ideal tire pressure for your vehicle which you can usually

find on the label on the driver's door or door jamb or in your owners manual.

If you've replaced your tires at any point with aftermarket tires, the

recommended pressure can be found on the tires themselves. The best time to check

pressure is when your vehicle hasn't been driven for at least three hours. The

only thing you'll need is a tire pressure gauge and there are three basic

types to choose from. The pencil type, the dial type, and the digital. You can keep a

gauge in your glove box for easy access. Some of these gauges come with the check

valve or way to release air from the tire which is important if the tire

happens to have too much air pressure. Whichever you choose you'll start by

turning the tires valve stem cap counterclockwise to remove it. Then press

the opening on your gauge onto the valve stem until the hissing stops making sure

that it stays straight. The pencil type will reveal a number as the air in your

tire causes it to extend. The dial or digital gauge will show you a number on

its display. Compare the reading on the gauge to the recommended pressure found

in your owners manual, driver's door, or on the tire. If you find your pressure's

low, most convenience stores or gas stations will have compressed air

available. You might even take your gauge with you next time you purchase fuel so

that you're checking tire pressure in a place where you can add air if needed. Be

careful if you're using a truck stop air line. They have much higher pressure

and it's possible to over inflate your tire. There are also portable tire

inflators available that you can store in your vehicle or garage.

If you find your pressure is high use the feature on your gauge to release air

if your gauge has one. Or you can use a small flat-head screwdriver to depress

the metal pin at the center of the valve stem just be careful not to bend it. Air

will begin to release as you press in on the pin. Keep an eye on the pressure to

ensure the proper amount has been let out. Once you've checked and adjusted all

four tires plus your spare tire your work is done.

Spare tires usually require 60 psi so make sure you have a gauge that can read

at least that high. And that's it. You'll find everything you need for this and

other jobs at your local O'Reilly Auto Parts Store or OReillyAuto.com.

What is my Vehicle's VIN Number and Where Do I Find It? - Duration: 2:01.

[Mechanical SFX]

Hey everybody. Rene here from O'Reilly Auto Parts to

talk to you about your VIN or vehicle identification number.

It's basically your vehicle's fingerprint, no two vehicles have the

same VIN. These numbers are used for identification purposes for motor

vehicles including all cars, trucks, and suv's as well as motorcycles, scooters,

and mopeds. If you need to locate your VIN here are the most common places you

can find it. The driver's door or door jamb, the dashboard on either the drivers

or passengers side, on your vehicle's title or registration or on an insurance

card. There are a number of reasons you might need to locate a VIN. In some cases

it's essential to getting the right replacement part for your vehicle such

as certain brake pads or alternators. You may also need your VIN for recalls,

registrations, warranty claims, or insurance coverage. In 1981 the VIN was

standardized to a 17 character format and each position gives a specific piece

of information about the vehicle. The first character indicates the country

where the vehicle was built. The second and third characters are the

manufacturer code. The fourth through eighth characters give vehicle specifics

like safety features, engine size and type, transmission and body type. The

ninth character is a security code that is determined by the other characters

and authenticates the validity of the VIN. The 10th character represents the

model year of the car. The 11th character indicates a specific manufacturing plant

where the vehicle was assembled. The last six characters are the serial number for

the vehicle. With a little research you can determine what each character of the

VIN is telling you regardless of the vehicle. A VIN can also give you the

details you need to make a decision on a used car you're thinking about

purchasing or even tell you more about a vehicle you currently own. By allowing

you to acquire a vehicle history report. Our DIY videos are designed to help
