Ariana Grande-Butera was born on June 26th 1993, in the city of Boca Ratón, in Palm
Beach, Florida.
Her name was inspired by princess Oriana, from the cartoon series Felix the Cat.
She is the daughter of Joan Grande and Edward Butera.
On the contrary of what many people think, she has italian origins, not hispanic - she
is half abruzzian half sicilian.
Her parents got divorced when she was a kid, and even tho she didnt take the news very
well, she was able to overcome it thanks to her grandparents and his half-brother, 10
years older than her, Frankie Grande, also an actor and dancer.
Ariana is hypoglycemic, so she usually eats lots of sweets under prescription, but she
is also allergic to many things, such as bananas, cats, seafood...
She has always liked the show business.
One of the first people to discover her talent was nothing less than Gloria Estefan herself!
During a family trip on a cruise, little Ariana sang at the karaoke and Estefan came up to
her and said she had a great talent and she should never give up.
Ariana took this literally!
She spent part of her childhood participating in órchestras and local theater productions
such as Annie.
Her first performance on tv was the US anthem for the hoecky team Florida Panthers, when
she was only 8 years old.
In 2008 she moved to New York and joined the Broadway musical 13, where she played the
cheerleader Charlotte, for which she won the National Youth Theatre Association Award for
best supporting actress.
When she joined the musical, she had to leave school a little aside, tho they kept sending
her material so she could study with private tutors.
After some time in Broadway, she was offered the chance to appear on TV.
In 2010, Nickelodeon offered her the possibility of participating in the series Victorius,
where she played Cat Valentine.
In 2013, the series was canceled, but Ariana's character was so charming that they decided
to make an spin-off, Sam&Cat, a crossover starred by Ariana and Jennette McCurdy, also
present in another successful series of the channel, iCarly.
Even tho tv was really going well for Ariana, what she really wanted to do was sing, so
she decided to sign a contract with Scooter Braun, Justin Bieber's manager, and dedicate
full time to music.
In 2013, her first album was released, Truly Yours, with very positive critics.
She released the single The Way, which made it to the 9th position of the Billboard Hot
100.
Also, Ariana won the New Artist of the Year award at the American Music Awards 2013
A year later, in 2014, her second album was released, My Everything, with very good critics
again.
Very succesfull singles came out of this project, such as Problem with Iggy Azalea (aséilia),
Break Free, Best Mistake…
She was able to have 3 songs, simultaneously, on the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, surpassing
Adele's record!
The song Bang Bang, with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj was, undeniably, one of THE songs that
summer.
Ariana was a star already.
In March 2014, the Obamas invited her to sing at a concernt in the White House, and in December
that same year, she sang for the popular Victoria's Secret Fahion Show.
In 2015, she decided to go back to TV with a small part in the FOX series, Scream Queens,
while she was on her world tour, The Honeymoon Tour.
In the spring of 2016, she released her third studio album, Dangerous Woman.
With it, she was consolidated as an artist.
In March 2017, she recorded the title track of the soundtrack for the live-action remake
of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, with John Legend.
Ariana went around the world with her Dangerous Woman Tour but, sadly, her performance on
the 22nd of May 2017 in Manchester would be stuck in her head forever.
On that night, there was an attack outside of the stadium where she was going to perform.
It was a real tragedy.
She stopped the tour and, a week later, she gathered all her courage and offered a benefit
concert to honor the victims, along with many international music artists.
On April 20th 2018, Ariana released "No Tears Left to Cry" as the first single of
her next fourth studio album.
Its title will be Sweetener and it will be released in July.
We are very happy that Ariana Grande is back and we cant wait to listen to all of her new
music.
We are sure she will win everybody's hearts, as she always does!
