Are you looking to improve your effectiveness on the Battlefront by learning how to dodge
roll more effectively in Battlefront 2?
Well in this video, I am going to be showing you three options for dealing with saber wielders,
the four circumstances under which I find it best to utilize dodge rolling, and two
simple dodge rolling strategies for increasing your survivability on the Battlefront.
But first, I would like to welcome anyone who is new to the channel.
Welcome to BloodSpiller Gaming, the Channel that helps you to aim true and have fun.
On this channel, I post up helpful Battlefront 2 videos, to help you gain an edge on the
Battlefront.
I also post up some killstreaks, gameplay, news, and gaming hardware related videos.
Most of my videos are in 4K at 60FPS.

And now onto the meat.
I thought an updated video on dodge rolling could be of benefit to the community, as the
current lineup of other how to dodge videos have become outdated as a result of recent
patches.
I'd like to start off by reviewing the controls for each gaming platform and some rolling
mechanics.
On PlayStation 4, a tap of the O button triggers a dodge roll.
On Xbox it is the B button and on PC it is the left alt button.
You can use these buttons to perform dodge rolls, but you can only do two rolls before
a short cool down period goes into effect.
During the cool down, you will be unable to perform another roll for about two-and-a-half
to three seconds, after which, you can perform one roll.
You must wait somewhere between three and four seconds after doing two rolls in succession,
in order to be able to do another set of two.
Each roll animation lasts about one second and requires about three quarters of a second
wait time until another one can be performed in rapid succession.
As for how to dodge roll, I would first like to cover facing off against lightsaber wielders
as a non-saber wielder.
You have three options for dodging lightsaber strikes.
Keep in mind though that timing is everything and all options require you to roll at precisely
the right time to avoid taking damage.
Option one: is to roll straight through the lightsaber wielding opponent.
If timed properly you can roll straight through the saber wielder without taking any damage,
thus allowing you to quickly turn around and fire off as many shots as possible, before
you need to dodge again.
This is my favorite option as it can be a lot of fun when you successfully take out
a saber hero in a 1v1.
Option two: is to dodge to the side of the lightsaber strike.
This is my second favorite option for getting out of the way of lightsaber strikes.
Option three: is roll backwards away from the lightsaber strike.
I tend to use this as an option of last resort when I think I'm about to die or if I am trying
to reunite with some of my teammates that are on my six.
Now let's move on to dodging blaster fire.
Strafing, or moving side to side, should be your primary method of dodging while in a
fire fight.
You don't want to dodge roll while in the middle of an engagement, because when you
do, you will be unable to fire your blaster for one second, and a lot can happen within
that one second.
I recommend only using dodge rolling under the following select circumstances:
1. when you are caught off guard by some incoming grenades or weapons fire 2. if you feel like
someone is about to shoot you 3. if you pushed up too far and must retreat and 4. when you
are at a distance from enemies and want to make yourself a harder target for snipers
or any other potential unseen threats, while traversing exposed areas of the map.
Under these circumstances, there are two basic dodge rolling strategies that I find useful.
Strategy one, is to dodge perpendicularly to incoming blaster fire or grenades.
Your goal is to get as far away from danger as quickly as possible, which requires you
to recognize where danger lies and where it does not.
So, if you are taking fire, don't just spam dodge roll, be purposeful about what direction
you dodge towards.
Strategy two, is to dodge roll in sets of two.
First in the direction that will help you to evade fire and the next towards cover.
Consider being in your opponent's shoes at that specific time, what would be the best
possible direction for you to roll in, so that you would make yourself miss those shots,
if you were your opponent.
Go in that direction.
It will generally be the furthest you could possibly go away from where you just were.
In order for players to repeatedly land shots on you, you must be following a consistent
or map determined course, so don't, go where they would not expect you to go.
One common mistake, I tend to see people make when dodge rolling, is spamming roll, and
expecting it magically save them when they are rolling in one direction or a straight
line.
Why would you roll in a straight line, when you can make yourself much more difficult
to hit by simply moving perpendicular to incoming fire?
As a corollary to rolling in sets of two, as described, it is also a very good idea
to make an effort to always only be one or two dodge rolls away from cover.
This will make living easier if you find yourself in an unfavorable situation.
The ultimate goal of rolling, is to make yourself a harder to hit target and survive longer.
So, based on those criteria what dodge rolling methods do you find to be the most effective?
