Hi everyone, Today we are going to talk about the essential fatty acids in your
diet, acne, and wrinkles. Two different ends of the spectrum of the health of
your skin. Before we get started, in case we've never met, my name is Mary
Kroening and I'm the author of a book that's called, My Wall of Fire, which is
in production at a publisher now. It will be out soon and it's the story of
how I recovered my health when I was facing unbeatable odds. But back to our
subject for today. This was so fascinating when I was doing research. I
mean, I love research anyways, but when you find these little golden nuggets
when you're doing research it is so amazing. Ok, real quickly just to go over
this again. Essential fatty acids, Omega 3 & 6 & 9. We're going to focus on mainly
omegas 3 & 6. They're called essential because your body cannot make them but
your body needs them. That's what the word essential means. So we need Omegas
3 & 6 in our diet every day. Okay, every day. And it's important to
be getting them from a good source because most likely they would come from
cold water fish.So we don't want them for the fish may be contaminated by
mercury. We want pure oil and we need to get them in the correct ratio and the
correct balance. According to this study, at the US National Library of
Medicine, which is my favorite library, there actually is a study there
called, The Importance of the Ratio of Omega-6 omega-3 Essential
Fatty Acids. They site that the ratio ideally should be one to one and right
now in the Western diet we're seeing like a 15 Omega-6 to a 1 Omega-3. 15 to
one. It should be one to one and so we need to get our Omega-6's down and our
omega-3s, you know balanced. But let's get back to the importance of
Omegas for your skin health. One of the studies we found was in The Huffington
Post, and it was a blog that was written called, Fish Oil for Your Face?
The New Anti-Aging Phenomenon, and it was written by a
doctor. He said everybody knows about essential fatty acids and how
they play a crucial role in your brain health and in your heart health but they
also play a really important role in your skin health. It's because they
help the epidermis, the outer layer of your skin, to be to be able to retain
water and when you can retain water that helps your skin look less dry. So then
maybe that would result in less wrinkles. It also says in this article that
Essential Fatty Acids bolster the skin cell membrane of the epidermis and it's
helping to protect the skin by decreasing the damage from UV light and
the production of cancer cells caused by UV light. Very, very, interesting. Okay, now
flipping back to Essential Fatty Acids and their importance with dealing with
acne. This is so amazing. In the Journal of the American Medical Association,
people call it the JAMA. The JAMA actually have a study that they
they talked about. There was a doctor, who was a General Practitioner,
who spent almost 30 years living with Eskimo people.
When the Eskimos were living their natural life, and eating their ancestral diet,
acne was not an issue for them. As soon as they integrated into the Western Diet,
and they started eating the Western diet that is when their acne then became
similar to that in Western societies. Actually, the name of the article is, Acne-
a Disease of Western Civilization. So, they're showing the relationship between
what people eat in their diet and the health of their skin. It was fascinating.
If you want this this article, I can send it to you if you contact me. Okay, and I
also found an article on the Oregon State University site. It was
published, and it says just plain out, Omega-6 and Omega-3 play a crucial role
in normal skin function and appearance. So I just want to give you guys some
information, again, about the importance of essential fatty acids in our diets.
Again, this is showing another way. We did one
about its relationship to heart health. We did a video about its relationship to
your brain and in dealing with depression. Now it's showing you the
importance of dealing with essential fatty acids in your skin health . So I
hope you found value in this this is so exciting when you find this these little
bits of information that can help people. And again, my name is Mary Kroening. I
work with a woman named Louise Ramey, who's been a Registered Nurse for 30
years. Right now Louise has enrolled in school to become a Naturopath
Practitioner. She's at the end of her studies
so she's dedicating the majority of her time, right now, to finishing her studies so
that she can get that certification. Then she'll be back in making videos but
you can still contact Louise . She's just not taking the time to make the videos
because these videos take a lot of time. So, you can find us on our Facebook. We're
on our fan pages. You can find us at the LouiseAndMary.com . That's our
website. And you can find us through YouTube. We also offer a FREE online
Health Evaluation, that is confidential, and you get the results right away. It
takes a look of your body as how its balanced and if certain
areas of your body need more support. So we're not diagnosing and we're not
treating disease. We're just showing you that our bodies, as a whole ,need to stay
in balance. Just like the way the US National Library of Medicine recommends.
Keeping your Omegas balanced. We just say keep your whole body in
balance. So if you would like more information we would love to be in
contact with you and we're going to keep making these videos every day. I hope
that you found this helpful and inspiring to adjust your diet as to
what would put your body in balance and to help have healthy skin. Have a good
day and until tomorrow for the next video, bye bye.
