Hey, everyone, this is Mohit Devda here and I am back with my new video in which I am
going to compare the first flagship of Nokia i.e.
Nokia 8 vs the Oneplus 5.
And at the end of this video, I will help you to decide which one you should buy.
So, stay tuned for that and let's get started.
Nokia has recently announced their first flagship smartphone with some cool new features hoping
to provide a tough competition to their rivals.
Before moving on, make sure to get subscribed and hit the bell icon to get notified for
all my future videos.
Now, that you have done that, let;s start with the design and build quality of both
the smartphones.
First talking about the Nokia 8, it comes with the 6000 grade aluminum body with the
curved edges and Nokia has done a great job of hiding the antenna lines at the top and
bottom of the device and Nokia claims that this design will also enhance the signal strength
which means that the battery consumption will be reduced.
They have managed to provide USB Type-C port along with the headphone jack in this slimmer
body and although there are bezels at the top and bottom of the device which is worth
considering in 2017, overall the device looks great with its premium looks.
Now, coming to the Oneplus 5, even if you don't want to admit, the Oneplus 5 looks like
the Oppo R11 or say, they both look like the iPhone 7 Plus.
Now if you are OK with that, Oneplus 5 looks good with its inspired from others design
and made from a single block of space grade aluminum and it also has the headphone jack
at the bottom along with the USB Type-C port, unlike the iPhone 7 Plus.
So, overall, it's about preference but according to me, Nokia 8 is the clear winner for this
round.
Now, let's talk about the specifications of both the devices, the area where Oneplus has
always been ahead.
Nokia 8 comes with a 5.3-inch Quad-HD display and its brightness can go up to 700 nits which
mean that the outdoor visibility will be very good.
Talking about the Oneplus 5, it comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display and both the smartphones
have a 2.5D curved glass along with the Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
Both the smartphones come with the high-end Qualcomm snapdragon 835 Octa-core processor.
You get 6 GB RAM with 64 GB Internal Storage and 8 GB RAM with 128 GB Internal storage
in Oneplus 5 while the Nokia 8 comes with 4 GB RAM with 64 GB of Internal Storage and
there is a special Gloss Blue variant which will come with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of Internal
Storage.
Both the smartphones run the latest version of Android i.e.
Android 7.1.1 Nougat and both come with dual sim card support but Nokia 8 also supports
the SDcard with its hybrid slot.
Now talking about the dual cameras of both the devices, Nokia 8 comes with two 13-megapixel
rear cameras with Zeiss optics in which one is a Monochrome sensor which helps to get
a more detailed picture and on the front also, you get a 13-megapixel camera sensor and both
rear and front cameras of Nokia 8 are capable of shooting 4K videos.
And there is a new feature by Nokia called Bothie which I will discuss later in the video.
Now, coming to the Oneplus 5, it wins the megapixel count as you get dual rear cameras
in which one is of 20 megapixels and the other one is of 16 megapixels and At the front also,
you get a 16-megapixel camera but the front camera can record only full HD videos and
not 4K.
Nokia 8 comes with a 3090 mAh battery while the Oneplus 5 comes with a slightly better
3300 mAh battery.
So, on paper, Oneplus is better than the Nokia 8 in terms of specifications and for day-to-day
usage, one can hardly feel the difference in the performance of these two devices.
Now, let's talk about some additional cool features provided in both the smartphones.
First talking about the Nokia 8, it comes with a new camera feature called Bothie which
lets you capture photos and shoot videos from the rear and front camera simultaneously and
you can even directly stream that video to either Facebook or YouTube.
But, although smartphones come with great video recording they lack proper audio input
and that's why Nokia has introduced their OZO audio technology in the Nokia 8 which
lets you capture 360-degree audio and you can check out the sample video from the description
below.
Although Nokia 8 does not have any water-proofing, it does come with the IP54 rating that means
it can survive with water splashes.
Now, coming to the Oneplus 5, it also has a dual camera setup which helps to provide
DSLR-like Depth Effect in the Photos.
It also comes with the Oxygen OS which provides some extra features like - reading mode, gaming
mode, secure box and more.
Also, it has support for Dash charging and Oneplus claims that it gives you a Day's power
in half an hour.
So, coming to the price, Nokia 8 will be available to you for around 700 US dollars which will
be around 45000 INR for the 4 GB variant.
On the other hand, Oneplus 5 costs you 33000 INR for the 6 GB variant and 38000 INR for
the 8 GB variant.
Now, getting to the conclusion, which device you should go for.
So, if you want great performance with great cameras, very quick charging and like the
customization of the Oxygen OS and want all these things at the lowest price possible
then go for the Oneplus 5.
But if you want the Bothie feature, want to capture great videos with great audio quality
as well and want a reliable and premium looking smartphone with good performance, then go
for the Nokia 8.
So, these were my opinions and tell me which smartphone you will prefer to buy in 2017
in the comments below.
