Hey, everybody.
Shaun Hadsall here, the owner of Get Lean in 12
and stubborn fat expert for people over 35 years old.
In today's video, I'm going to do part two of my series
on the myth that carbs are responsible for obesity
and today's most deadly diseases.
The fact is, strategically eating more carbs
the right way can optimize hormones and help
you burn more belly fat.
And I proved this in the last video
when I used these four examples.
The Tarahumara and Kitavans Indian tribes eat 70% carbs.
There is literally zero obesity in these tribes
and they had zero disease.
And I don't know if I pronounced them the right way, by the way.
Japan and China are a perfect example.
They still eat 50% to 60% carbohydrates till this day,
and they have a longer life expectancy and lower obesity
rates and lower disease rates than the rest of the world.
Then there's the Blue Zones, these
are the areas of the world where they have more people living
to be 100 years old than anywhere
else and the majority of them thrive on a high carb diet.
And the last most powerful example,
was the 60-day potato diet, when Chris Voigt protested
against the government removing potatoes from the school lunch
program.
He ate nothing but potatoes, 20 potatoes a day for 60 days
straight.
Obviously, he was cooking them in a healthy way.
He wasn't deep frying and eating French fries,
but when he was done, the results were profound.
He was 22 pounds lighter and his glucose, cholesterol,
and triglycerides all responded better
than they would have if he was taking a couple of prescription
medicines.
So I would never advocate eating all potatoes like that,
obviously, but it just goes to show you
that carbs don't necessarily make you fat,
you just have to make sure that you
focus on the right choices, the right timing,
and the right combinations.
Now, in the right choices-- if you're a high intensity
exerciser, you going to want to stick with most paleo
type of choices.
Now, most people think that potatoes and things like squash
and I mean, I think even certain ripe fruits really
aren't considered paleo, and I don't understand why.
A caveman could have easily found a piece of squash,
picked it, cooked it, and ate it,
could have easily dug up potatoes and ate potatoes,
and depending on the area of the Earth that they're on
and what season it is, they could have easily eaten
lots of seasonal ripe fruits.
So these are the high carb foods that can
help you burn more belly fat.
You just have to understand how to time them the right way
and how to combine them the right way.
So things like potatoes, sweet potatoes, steel cut oats,
brown rice and white rice if you're a high intensity
exerciser, ripe bananas and ripe fruits,
these are the types of high carb foods
that can help you optimize hormones when you eat them.
Because if you go low carb all the time,
it only takes about a week before you
suppress all your critical fat burning hormones.
So by eating carbs and timing them the right way
and combining them the right way,
you actually reset your body's fat burning hormones.
So there's two best times to eat carbs.
The first one is after a workout.
Remember, after a workout, the muscles
are like a sponge that's been wrung dry
and it wants to soak up nutrients
because you've depleted all the stored energy from your muscle
tissue and your liver tissue, and we call this stored energy
glycogen. And what ends up happening is post-workout,
they want to suck up nutrients.
So you can eat lots of your favorite carbs
in the post-workout window.
You never have to worry about them
being spilled over and stored as belly fat on your body
because your body's muscle tissue and liver tissue is busy
replenishing that stored energy.
The next thing is combinations, and this is the key.
So when you eat carbs in your post-workout window,
you want to make sure that you combine it with a lean quality
protein.
You can obviously have vegetables any time you want.
They don't make people fat.
Never heard of veggies making people fat.
So just make sure that you combine it
because when you eat a carb by itself,
it sends a high insulin spike.
And when your insulin is elevated, remember,
that puts your body into a fat storing environment.
So make sure you have some protein with your carbs.
And then, the second best time to eat carbs--
if you work out in the morning on an empty stomach--
is the night before about two hours before bed.
By eating a high carb meal and again
combining it with some type of lean, quality protein
about two hours before bed, now you're
giving your body the energy that it
needs so that when you wake up after sleeping all night,
if you want to train in a fasted state,
you have the energy to power through that workout,
but you still get to take advantage
of being in a fasted state, which
allows your body to release more fight or flight hormones.
These are the hormones that are responsible for helping
you shrink fat cells to lose more belly fat.
So hopefully, this gives you a snapshot
on why carbs are not responsible for obesity and today's most
deadly diseases.
Now, you just have to make sure that you're moving right
based on your age category.
So if you got something out of this video,
please do me a favor.
Click the Like button and share it
so we can spread the word about why carbs don't make you fat.
And then somewhere around this video
I put a link that you can click or tap
and you can get instant access to a free report called "The
Over 40 Stubborn Fat Sequence."
And this is a 12-minute protocol specifically designed
for the hormonal condition of people over 35 years old.
So if you're in your 40s, 50s, or 60s,
you're going to want to get your hands on this report
because in 12 short minutes, it will show you
how to elevate your metabolic rate up to 48 hours,
how to reactivate your declining fat loss hormones,
and how to potentially increase growth hormone 400% to 700%
So thanks for watching this, and keep going strong.
