South Korea Is Changing Kimchi So It'll Be Less Scary For White People

Kimchi is an essential dish in Korea, but the strong taste and smell have proven to be too much for some foreigners. In order to promote kimchi, Korean food experts have started to engineer a new type that has a weaker smell.

Most Western people dont like the smell of kimchi because we use of lot of garlic and ginger, and that produces a lot of sulfur compounds. – Ha Jae-ho (Head of the Gwangju World Institute of Kimchi).

In local markets, Kimchi is often stored and sold in plastic bags.

Were trying to engineer the smell out of kimchi, but its hard because the smell is linked to its flavor. – Lee Mi Ae (Researcher).

Kim Soon Ja, Koreas first kimchi master, is working to come up with a new freeze-dried kimchi that doesnt smell even after water is added. Kimchi is used in all sorts of Korean dishes, from soups to pancakes.

By creating a more foreigner-friendly kimchi, Korea is hoping to help spread Korean food and culture all across the world.

We were very lucky!

after Jones his father saw the pictures, he told us that this was the place where, he himself, did his military training for pilot

With this in mind and fathersday coming up, we decided to call the flightclub for an unforgetable memory.

So Many Crash Fish!! | Subnautica Ep. 1 - Duration: 24:08.

Hey guys welcome back to the channel today. I'm going to be playing some more subnautica

But this is going to be a new world

New everything like I don't know why I said new because like it

I don't know why I said another episode because I'm going to be deleting

The previous episodes because I didn't get far and I don't think they were really good quality videos

so I'm gonna just restart on Subnautica and call this the first episode, so

Yeah

My goal for this

Episode is to get the seamoth know to get maybe a chunk of the Seamoth. I don't know

but my goal is to get the sea glide and

Get a habitat. That's that's my goal, so

first

That's loud okay, so what I want first is

some acid mushrooms for the batteries

some lubricant and

some creepvine and stuff, so I'm just going to get all that stuff that was passed to take -

Cool. I know the arrows human life signs detected in 100 meter range

That's not good. Oh

Hello, Sir don't fart on me. Please, please don't fart on me

Okay, well I probably should have gotten that line. There's limestone ah

And I want to get a new

tank so that's just

an

Ocean side

Oxygen Nitrogen

The Portal containment hi

so a new thing is just some glass and

Titanium

if I'm not

mistaken essential component of all Harvard equipment your probability of survival the just increased by 11%

and so

May have unexpected characteristics and applications

utilizing Alien resources improved survival strategy good

Nice, oxygen. I just got them a little late on that

So I want to get some quartz

because

that's

necessary for survival

Because I'm not smart enough to not go down in a certain depth. I just go down however far. I want oh

I'm gonna Die on the firt wow

Oh, where is he?

Okay, we good we good

That's still annoying though

Gary fish Gary fish gary fish. Oh yeah

okay, more lead I

Want to make a radiation suit?

That will be nice so I can go when it explodes

Get it get it. Okay there we go

Get some salt for some water in the future

so only if I had a scanner, we found one of those ah

They updated the look of it, okay

The update is a lot of stuff in here. So I would have had the C glide if I had a scanner

So now I know where to go at least

But I'll probably forget like I always do oh

What was that? Okay? Just titanium we good I hope

probably gonna die

Hey, okay, so we got some more quartz now. We can make glass and

I hope it's only one glass

So let's swim back oxygen

to

The Little Hatch

Might as well get some titanium

We're gonna need it in the future okay, so I can make some water

another one

Let's just have a thief

We're just going to have a giant piece of utica

Bogan while disposing of this chemical structure, what're you doing a new panel, okay thus rendering the state facility

nice

We close look save that might be nice

Okay, so now we can make some titanium and glass there

Let's see what it is first before. I make anything so equipment

Standard Vi glass

So now I can make an o2 tank an oxygen tank

Air bladder flare, how about that builder. I need laser cutter

Don't need right now battery, and I think I can make a battery right question mark Yeah

Make two batteries why not?

so

Tools

Scanner we're Gonna need it because at home spectra the scanner can be used to synthesize

blueprints from salvaged Technology and to record any biological data

Cool. Yeah, silicone rubber. I need some

I'm not going to get some of that right now because well, I think you guys know why?

And I can't see anything because it's so dark

quarks nighttime is a really good time to get courts, and I'm sorry you can see me well like

Okay, I thought it crashed

whoo no driven by it

Don't have time

I'm in a rush to make this video not least to report it

Edit is much easier now because

I can do it anywhere

Yeah, so I'm going to do some quartz farming at night because it just glows. Oh my gosh

Come in. Oh my gosh. It's so easy to see

Cool more

This probably should have saved in my face

Yeah, I'm getting towards. Oh

Gary fish

About 300 meters away when I found this stuff. I found oxygen

whoo crash fish

We need that for a welder right? I think I don't know what it is repair. Tool or something like that, but

No, that's how you get away from stuff

That's all I need that's all I need lads

Cool. We got that another box, but it's covered up

another box and they

See clyde, and we need to yeah, that's why I thought

No

This is it. This is it. This is not it and I'm going to die

Wow, didn't realize I was it, but it's right there. It's right

there

A

A

Connect can I breathe please please okay animal stud?

Okay

Deployables sequence, so I need lube and copper wire

So now we just need lubricant

We need a lot of that that those seeds how much you don't have enough inventory doing yeah, we don't

Assign and switch continue okay, so we don't need that

You don't need these

Currently, you don't need all this court's currently

Don't need that let don't need that salt we don't need any of this

Hey

Let me save let me save let me save because I don't say I'm probably gonna die hello, sir

I'm not going to be able to get some help getting majorly hurt

Like it's impossible

Okay

ah go back ah

Yes, anyone can see me now. I'm chasing me, and I'm screaming for no reason

Hello, hello

Wow, that was easy easy button that was easy

Okay, so we can make some lube, and we can make some silicon rubber I

Got a lot of that stuff wow

Hey filtered water

Switch container, okay?

We can get this court don't need this

get some of this and that that

This is that don't need this that that's that that

We could have that that and that

Don't need that bit

And we can get a see glide

We got to see clyde

so this will be in slot 1 this will be in slot 2 and what does it take to make a

to get some fins

Well first, I want a knife

Which will release food standard survival Blueprint following the massacre on

Breakfast Pack as an essential survival tool for 10.5 million years the knife remains the Oc exception

Sorry about that. Oh

We don't have guns

Um and I think we know

We can make some more cooked food

Because we need to eat up

Yum yum, and we can make some water

And drink that that's just this tony so it'd be a waste to eat it

so tools repair tool

We have the the crash fish thing, so we're good on that

Habitat builder I need that

That's basically it

This is going to be on the three slot and this is release five

Cool okay, so now we can reap we can repair our thing and we can see

Yay

related tasks from their lower mining default your distress signal has been received and

Emergency relief will be dispatched to your location

Well then so now all we need is the habitat builder, and we need computer chip which takes

gold

And we need copper

Ah what takes for a radiation suit because I'll die

Fibermesh well then

No, no

Get it

oh

Cool. I can I get a picked up five. Oh, well um now I can make some fiber mesh

And I need to

So now I can make radiation Sooo cool

So now I'm wearing radiation - cool cool cool. So now I need a

Flipper

silicone Rubber which takes some

of this

First we need it mate. Oh, I almost go to bed

Okay, so now I can make some full lipper fins

Cool

Now we can go faster, and now we can get some

from gold

We'll get some gold lads

so usually silver and gold are and Sandstone type things, so if I pass up a chunk of

Limestone

It's not what I'm looking for

Like this this is Limestone

That only had copper which I'll take because I need it

This is Sandstone. See the difference and that has gold

so

30 seconds yeah, yeah, I might want that okay. I'm deep

Hey, do they have anything on them?

No

They're so cool. I

Just realized how far. I am ah-ha-ha-ha-ha. Oh, where am I oh no?

Okay, okay, okay, okay? Let's go hey 420

Whoo I realized that

I was not in a safe place

Bless you bless you bless you bless you I?

hate since turks

Limestone Copper titanium, I don't want your ding titanium

no, okay, a

silver Knife

Yes, Seema

That's a second. That's awesome. I got to see my thing fragment

And this could hold something special oh

My gosh, let's get some air

That was awesome wait

What's that? Yeah? This is a sunset gusting it?

So we rich voice we are rich

If some more down there

But but I already went through that

Where are you then hey a message?

So let's see what this message is because I know they need you to good stuff like I was playing on my macbook

earlier and I

got a lot of stuff because I listened and

I'm like hey, they the Seamoth they collapsed around them let's go steal the stuff

And I got a co-op and a battery charger. Which is pretty cool

Yeah, okay

Tools don't need any of that um oh yeah

Where are you, okay?

Here - a fire over there

no, I don't think so not yet uh

Not yet. Let's eat

ass

and safe

Andy

Okay

This was a okay successful episode. I mean for 30 minutes. I think I did pretty good

but if you enjoyed leave a like

Streaming services are changing the music industry. So how are rock bands surviving? - Duration: 4:15.

Can I get more my vocal and a touch more my guitar.

Not a lot of jobs have someone you know like right in front of you

cheering you on, you know?

It's nice to like fill a room with people that you you don't know any

of them but they like took time out of their their lives and like money out of

their wallets to come see you.

I love that like every day when we're on the

road there's the possibility that somebody is going to change my life for

the better

The Orwells are playing to a packed house at ANR music bar in Columbus Ohio

it's the band's 34th show since February and are running on adrenaline.

Like so many bands before them, they started with jam sessions in their parents basements.

For the Orwell's it was in the Chicago suburb of Elmhurst.

We started this group

just about around seven years ago. Most of us were freshmen high school, Mario

was a sophomore and we covered "Barely Legal" by The Strokes and recorded and put

it up and I was the first thing we ever did.

Backyard gigs turned into local shows, the national tour dates and TV

appearances. Still in high school, they'd already arrived.

The bands that I looked

up to and I think most of them looked up to

they were never huge and that's kind of where I feel like we are now.

But the road to success is longer than it used to be and the band is preparing to tour

again. They pack up the rental band after a

couple hours of sleep, the Orwells are back on the road to promote their 3rd

album.

Just in three years it's like it's the approach was so much different

compared to what it was when we had originally gotten into this thing. When

we were putting out Disgraceland it was a lot about do playing radio shows

or you know pushing units physical units CDs and and and vinyl records and stuff

like that and this time around it was all about streams.

But streaming apps like

Spotify, Pandora and Apple music pay less than a penny per song. That doesn't add

up to much after you've split it with the record label and five band mates. So

they've sold the rights to some of their songs, which have been featured in video

games, TV shows and commercials. These days it's how bands get by

Selling out

isn't really a thing anymore because like if someone calls you a sell out

and they just stream music it's like how do you expect me to make money?

You have to go out on the road more and play more shows and sell more shirts

because you can't stream t-shirts yet so there's still a way to do this.

From Chicago, it's about a six-hour drive

to Columbus. Sleep is important but so is

checking and updating the band's social media.

A lot of festivals now look at how

many Twitter followers you have and will plan your slot accordingly. It's not why

we're you know it's not we're making music to have enough Instagram followers

to you know it's to reach I don't know stupid I think it's stupid too but I got

you know I mean I understand the merits

it's just a bummer that like you can't make a good record and play a good live

show and like that's it like now that's like half as important as it was

After the show the band unwinds and greets fans. In the morning they'll pack

up the van again and be back on the road. Next stop: Detroit.

You know we don't have

private jets we share hotel rooms with each other we do you know just like all

that stuff it's obviously not as glamorous or something like you know

like "Almost famous" or something makes it out to be.

It's, it's much more of a kind of just a little bit of a grind, but a good one, a

fun one.

How Bayern were promoted to the Bundesliga in 1965 - Duration: 1:10.

The floodgates were opened in the 12th minute.

Just three minutes later, Ohlhauser stepped up and left the goalkeeper Wolf no chance

as he fired a second shot low into the bottom corner.

A shot from wide by Ohlhauser – parried – goal.

Ohlhauser continues the rout, extended the lead to 4-0.

Brenniger picks up the ball, his first effort ricochets off the Berliner,

but his rebound strike flies successfully into the top corner.

Goal number six, scored by Nafziger, is unfortunately not on camera, as we were preoccupied

with changing cassettes when he scored.

But just as our camera was ready to film again, Nafiziger's second strike flew in from 25 metres

to add Bayern's seventh.

Top scorer Ohlhauser added a final goal to complete the 8-0 rout.

And that's how Bayern were promoted to the Bundesliga.

My Favourite Books of 2017 So Far! [CC] - Duration: 8:02.

Hey there booktube Katie here and you're watching Katie loves to read. It's almost

halfway through the year as I film this, it may already be halfway through the year

by the time you see it that means that I need to talk to you about my favourite

books that I've read so far this year so let's do just that! First off one

honourable mention that didn't make the top 5 but I still want to talk about is

Pachinko by Min Jin Lee which is a multi-generational family saga about a

Korean family who have to move to Japan. It was heartbreaking and really

wonderful, vast, educational, memorable but it just hasn't stuck with me in that

same emotional way as the rest of the books on this list but to not mention it

would be very very wrong of me so I just thought that I would mention that I

really love Pachinko before I get into the rest of these books. I don't really have

a ranking between these books so let's just talk about them in the order that I

read them. First off Born a Crime by Trevor Noah which I listened to as an

audiobook. Basically this is the story of Trevor Noah

growing up in South Africa as a mixed-race child who is half white and

half black and the different trials and tribulations that he went through, the

hijinks that he got into, what he put his mother through by being a little child

who's always messing and getting into trouble but it was also just an

examination of what growing up as a mixed-race person in South Africa was

like at the time especially because it was actually illegal for a white man and

a black woman to have a child at the time Trevor Noah was born up until he

was five years old and it was just a really interesting exploration of that

and also a look at the different factors that contributed to apartheid so I felt

I learned a lot and took a lot from this but I was also hilarious. I laughed a lot,

Trevor Noah is a comedian so that's not really surprising but I would definitely

say to listen to this one on audiobook if it sounds like something you might be

into because Trevor Noah narrating his own story well that's naturally very

immersive and it also just feels very conversational like he's sitting down

and telling this to you. I found the audiobook addictive I probably listened

to it in one day it's like eight hours long

and I should have been studying but yeah. Next up then I have The Hate U Give

by Angie Thomas which is an amazing amazing book about our main character

Starr who is African American and she sees her best friend from when she was a

little kid, Khalil, get shot by the police and examines how that affects her

majority african-american community. It also looks at how other people react, people

who don't live in her community. A majority of the people at her school are

white so it looks at how how they look at it. It looks at the different

microaggressions that Starr goes through every day and it just explores so many

things like it even looks at how often African Americans who are shot by the

police are then vilified in the media and on social media. Even though it was not

their fault that they were shot, somebody feels the need to then go on and vilify

them. It looks at that. It looks at the pain, it looks at the fury,

it also looks at other things that African Americans go through every day

like as I said microaggressions. It looks at the code-switching that Starr finds

herself doing - she speaks differently at her mainly white school than she does in

her neighborhood which is majority African American and it's just an

amazing black lives matter book but it is genuinely so much more than that.

I think what I loved the most about this book was Starr's father and the

relationship that Starr has with her mother and her father - I just loved the

family dynamics, they are such an awesome family that I loved and I also loved

that I got to meet Angie Thomas at a signing I actually got this signed and

she was lovely she just spoke very eloquently and made me love this book

even more. I think she's a really talented writer and I can't wait to see

what she does next. I will link my review on screen if you're interested in

hearing me gush a bit more about this book.

Next up Saints Blood by Sebastian de Castell which is kind of like a

placeholder for all of the Greatcoats books because I read all of them this

year and loved them. So yeah Saints Blood, why did I put

Saints Blood on here over the rest of the books in series? Well I just felt it had

the strongest plot, I got to really see the characters

at their best and it didn't have issues that I'd found with other books in the

series like where I felt like it was dragging in places or it was too

predictable or there was a plot hole but why do I love this series? Well because

they're hilarious, fast paced and immersive and like who doesn't want to

read a three musketeers esque fantasy about travelling magistrates who are

trying to regain their control over the kingdom and enforce the Kings law? Anyone?

Yeah I didn't think so. I will link my series review on screen if you want to

hear more about the Greatcoats because genuinely I credit the Greatcoats series

with getting me through studying for exams. Because they were the thing that I

would be looking forward to every evening when I was finished studying,

knowing that I'd get to sit down for like half an hour, an hour however long I had

and just like immerse myself in this world,

hang out with Falcio, Kest and Brasti and just know that i'm going to be like

on the edge of my seat but also laughing my arse off. Next up then you didn't

think I could make it through this video without talking about Guy Gavriel Kay

did you? Yeah its River of Stars by Guy Gavriel Kay. This was the final Guy

Gavriel Kay book that I read I have now read all 13 of his books (I have not read

his poetry collection) but this is a historical fantasy set in an alternate

Sung Dynasty China and we follow our main character Ren Diyan he wants to get

back this alternate China's 13 northern provinces from the alternate Mongolians

if that makes any sense but what I really loved about this book is it

has everything in here that I love about Guy Gavriel Kay - beautiful writing , vast

story, loads of different perspectives, interesting historical time period,

twists and turns, a little bit of fantasy woven in and I loved the way that he

tied all the different threads together at the end. I switched between the e-book

and the audiobook for this and I really feel like that enriched my experience

because I love Simon Vance as an audiobook narrator as you probably

already know at this stage and is this the best book by guy Gavriel Kay ever?

Probably not but I felt sentimental because it was the last time I would be

reading one of his books for the very first time [well unless he writes new books]

and I ended up loving this

and had to go on this list I and I have no shame. Then the final book

that I want to talk about is the short story collection which is unusual for me

but I really loved this one this was Stories of Your Life and Others

by Ted Chiang and the titular story in this became the movie Arrival which I still

haven't seen but really really want to see. I did not think I could enjoy a

short story collection as much as I enjoyed this - all but one of these

short stories absolutely blew me away. The one short story that I didn't adore

was still really good. I was just in awe of how they all managed to be so

different and yet so good. He plays with form, he plays with your emotions he just

does really really interesting things and writes really, really well and I was

genuinely so impressed by the short story collection. I know everyone sings

it's praises and it's very hyped up so I was nervous going into it that it

wouldn't really do it for me but genuinely if you're interested in trying

out a short story collection and you like science fiction and fantasy (they're

mainly science fiction short stories I won't lie to you) then you should try

this out because it is very impressive! Anyway sorry for the fluctuating light

in this video, it's Ireland you're going to have to deal with it but those are my

favourite books of the year so far please let me know what your favuorite book

of the year so far is, or multiple if you like me can't choose just one. Thank you guys

for watching and I will see you my next video bye!
