Youtube daily game Jun 30 2017

The Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy is set to launch on June 30th, bringing a remastered

collection of the first three Crash games to PlayStation 4.

That's Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot

3: Warped, all remade, packaged together, and sold for $40.

Developer Vicarious Visions has taken the original game's level geometry and gameplay

mechanics, exactly as you remember them, and then layered improvements to presentation

and quality of life over the top.

The visual boost can clearly be seen here, and those playing on a PS4 Pro will enjoy

an enhanced resolution of 1440p upscaled to 4K.

However, both PlayStation consoles will still be limited to 30fps.

The quality of life improvements comprise of a unified checkpointing and save game system.

Both manual and auto-saving can be used.

There's also a unified menu system, which keeps things constant between the three games.

What's more, Time Trials can be found across the entire collection.

Fans of Crash's sister, Coco, will be ecstatic to hear that she's playable across the entire

N.Sane Trilogy.

She has a fresh new look and her own set of "N.Sane Attacks."

With Naughty Dog having moved on from making Crash Bandicoot to creating big blockbusters

like Uncharted and The Last of Us, it's great to hear that the studio that started

it all, approves of Crash's new look.

Evan Wells, Naughty Dog's president, praised Vicarious Visions for the "amazing care

[taken] in maintaining the feel and soul of the originals," while bringing "the visuals

up to modern day standards."

Though the N.Sane Trilogy is coming to PS4 and PS4 Pro first, it's looking likely that

other platforms will get to enjoy the game, too.

So Xbox One owners feeling green with envy, can maybe relax a little.

If you are picking it up on PlayStation, note the not one, not two, but three Platinum Trophies.

That's one for each game!

Also, if you are pre-ordering digitally, look out for the free pre-order themes and avatars.

That's everything you need to know about the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy.

Will you be picking it up?

Let us know in the comments.

Nothing actually changes.

It's just the end of me, as like, a system of memories, you know?

LGR - CD-ROM Retrospective - Duration: 7:32.

[typing] [synth music]

Compact Disc Read-Only Memory.

CD-ROMs enjoyed over a decade of widespread popularity

from the 1990s to the mid-2000s

before being gradually overtaken by DVD-ROMs.

And although CDs appear near-identical externally to DVDs,

and even Blu-rays,

there's something about the CD that particularly appeals to me.

Especially when it comes to computer games on compact disc.

They used lasers, man!

Lasers! (laser sound)

It was like science fiction coming to life in the palm of your hand!

Early marketing made a big deal about this laser-driven tech,

emphasizing not just the speedy access times

but their supposed resistance to smudging, scratches and breakage.

(chuckles)

Yeah...

Maybe they were more resistant compared to vinyl records and floppy disks,

but anyone who's used CDs for any length of time

knows just how easily they can be screwed up beyond usability.

Still, there's no understating how it felt

seeing the lofty potential brought about

by this massive jump in storage capacity and read-write speeds.

Out of nowhere, it seemed like anything was possible

when it came to programs, games and multimedia on a computer.

- [Reporter] It would take about 200 of these file boxes,

or about 1,500 floppy disks,

to store what you get can on one compact disc.

Is it any wonder that optical storage

is the talk of the computer industry?

- [LGR] I mean, you could store the equivalent of an entire encyclopedia

with lots of room to spare with one disc!

Pure sorcery!

And things like full-motion video, voice acting and massive game worlds

went from being ambitious design goals

to making good business sense practically overnight!

Titles like Myst and The 7th Guest

pushed forward CD-ROM gaming in a big way by 1993,

shifting millions of units,

right alongside the new CD-ROM drives that made them possible.

- [Kathleen] So there's 2,500 original 3D-rendered graphics.

It's a beautiful game, the attention to detail is incredible.

And there are sound effects as you get closer to the water.

You hear the water lapping against the dock.

- [LGR] Personally, though,

even though they were introduced in the latter part of the '80s,

I didn't get a CD-ROM drive until 1997

because money.

But I believe my first experience with one

was in a library in 1993.

They had an Apple Macintosh

with a ton of awesome software loaded onto it,

one of them being the first CD release of The Oregon Trail.

It blew my seven-year-old mind

that you could run a game off something so futuristic and shiny!

I mean, floppy discs were still my life at home,

but CDs... dude!

I dreamed of CD-ROMs for years after that,

and I actually ended up buying my first CD game

before I even had a computer or a drive that could run it.

The Need for Speed: Special Edition.

This is my original disc right here,

complete with my name Sharpied onto it

in case anyone tried to take it off me and pass it off as theirs.

I was so excited just to have a CD-ROM in my possession.

It didn't matter if I could play it at home or not.

I took it to my uncle's house whenever I could

and played it on his monster rig and had a blast!

Until we upgraded our household PC

and it had a CD drive and...

(giddy chuckle)

The excitement!

When you upgraded to an optical drive back then,

you went from 1.44 MB of storage on a floppy

to an unthinkable 650 megs in one fell swoop,

which was five times larger than my old PC's entire hard drive.

They weren't the fastest things at first.

And in fact, early disc-based game consoles were notorious

for their awful load times from CD compared to cartridges.

However, CD-ROM drives on computers could be upgraded

being categorized by transfer speed.

They started at 1X, or single-speed,

and quickly multiplied from there as the years went on,

eventually culminating in the ludicrous and short-lived

72-speed drive by 2001.

Loading a CD was usually done by placing a disc

straight onto a mechanized tray.

But some of the early models took an inverted approach to disc acceptance,

like this caddy loading CD drive, for example.

Unlock it, plop the CD in, and there you go!

Capacity varied as well,

ranging from 650 MB to 900 megs of data storage,

with 700 megs being the most common capacity by the late '90s.

And naturally, being based on audio compact disc technology,

CD-ROMs didn't just store data.

They stored dedicated audio tracks as well,

also known as Red Book audio,

in reference to the color of the book defining the standard.

No more relying on General MIDI or FM synthesis in your PC games.

Now you had music that could sound just as good

as any album you'd buy at FYE.

Unfortunately, as the read-only memory, or ROM, part of CD-ROM suggests,

you could not write your own music or data to them.

Well that finally changed in 1997

with the arrival of CD-recordable and CD-rewritable drives

and special discs to go along with them,

of which I was all to happy to upgrade to a few years later.

It wasn't uncommon to see a disc mix CD audio with data, either.

So, Track 1 would contain the program,

but Tracks 2 and beyond might contain the soundtrack,

or even hidden bonus songs to enjoy on a CD player.

There were also features built into operating systems like Windows 95

that made using CD-ROM games easier,

namely Autorun.

Once enabled, any time you inserted a CD,

you'd be greeted with a splash screen and maybe a little jingle.

(SimCity 2000 jingle plays)

CDs also allowed for the rise of the demo disc

and shovelware compilations.

These things existed before this, of course,

but it was the CD's beefy storage and zippy access times

that helped them flourish.

Magazines, retail chains and mail-order software clubs

went all out with packing programs on these things.

And shovelware gets a lot of crap,

but there was a time when demo discs and shareware compilations

were a godsend to gamers like me on a budget.

It's for all these reasons and more

that I'm still quite fond of CDs

and love collecting them complete in their original packaging.

And yet,

nothing lasts forever.

Not just in the marketplace but in terms of physicality as well.

While it's been calculated CDs can remain readable

for over 700 years,

some recent investigations have shown that some discs

will barely last 20, 25 years, or even less.

This is due to the variants used

in manufacturing standards and the quality of materials,

because while the format itself was standardized,

the fabrication process was not.

And I've personally started seeing this

with some of my retail discs from the late '90s

and plenty of my burned CDs from the mid-2000s

which is just a huge bummer.

Even if you don't have a desire to go back and load games from CDs again,

and I absolutely don't blame you there,

I implore you to at least double-check your own backups

to make sure you haven't lost anything yet.

As for me, I plan to enjoy all my discs while I can.

They may not be as durable and long-lasting

as the marketing promised back in the day,

and they've been thankfully replaced

by better and more reliable distribution options,

but CDs are still plenty enjoyable to play with when you're in the mood.

And bring me back to a time when computers

were advancing so fast and so awesomely

that we didn't know what to do except just enjoy the ride.

(synth music)

Well, these were just a few of my memories of CD-ROMs.

Feel free to let me know some of yours in the comments, good or bad.

And trust me, I know there's a fair amount of bad, too.

These things weren't 100%.

And as always, thank you very much for watching.

Will We See Arya's Long Lost Friend Return in Game of Thrones? (Nerdist News w/ Jessica Chobot) - Duration: 3:34.

- Another long lost friend of Arya's

is returning to Game of Thrones this year,

at least that's what we think after reading

Time Magazine's massive cover story

about the upcoming season seven.

The whole article is definitely worth a read,

full of awesome details about what to expect

when we return to Westeros in just three short weeks,

but the tidbit that really caught our eye

has us hoping that the Arya Stark reunion special

every fan has been demanding may finally come to pass.

Well, maybe the second Arya Stark reunion

fans have been demanding.

Sorry, Gendryphiles, but Time reporter Daniel D'Addario

did have this to say about his visit

to a shooting location in Belfast.

"Wolves described in the script as skinny and mangy

"showed up to the shoot looking fluffy and lustrous."

So why is this so exciting?

Well, because it's always a cause for excitement

when wolves show up on Game of Thrones,

especially since wolves have been turning up

less and less on the show.

Supposedly show runners Benioff and Weiss

hate wrangling the mangy mongrels.

They are by far and away the most frustrating

creature effects on Game of Thrones,

so expensive and so complicated to shoot with

that they make the dragons seem easy.

Now, think back to last season

and you'll pretty much only remember

one significant lupine appearance

and that's when Ghost was sadly waiting for his master

Jon Snow to return from the Land of the Dead.

Apparently the only wolves they really want to work with

are ones that are moping around like sullen teenagers,

so if not just one wolf but multiple wolves are showing up

onset, that means they must be pretty important

to the story, so who could these wolves possibly be?

Well, for those of you who have forgotten,

five dire wolf pups were adopted by the Stark clan

at the start of Game of Thrones, three of which,

Summer, Grey Wind, and Shaggy Dog have all been taken

to live at Uncle Ned's farm in the country.

Let's just let that sink in.

That just leaves Ghost, who is currently chilling

with Jon in Westeros and Arya's pet Nymeria,

and that's who we think will be leading

this all new wolf pack.

Nymeria hasn't been seen on the show since season one

when Arya released her into the wild

to escape execution at the hands of Joffrey

and since then we've seen neither hide nor hair of her,

but she has had a role in the books.

After his escape, rumors circulated

about a pack of wolves led by Nymeria

stalking the seven kingdoms and attacking people,

typically enemies of the Stark clan.

There are even chapters when Arya dreams she is a wolf,

which is most likely her sharing

a strong psychic connection with Nymeria,

maybe even showing off some unrealized warging potential.

Of course, in the books, the wolves have always played

a much more major role and their connection

with the Stark kids has always been way more important,

but that importance has been played down onscreen

probably mostly for the reasons mentioned earlier.

Shooting with wolves is a giant pain in the butt,

but as we head towards the final episodes of the series,

it makes sense that the wolves

would be brought back into the spotlight.

They seem significant to George RR Martin's end game,

which means Benioff and Weiss

will probably want to highlight them as well,

even if it means dealing with a bunch of doggy divas onset.

Of course, the best news about all of this

is that if Nymeria can return after nearly six seasons,

so can anyone, but what do you folks think?

Is that Nymeria or Ghost or some other wolf?

Let's discuss.

10.

Opening our list of the Top 10 iOS Games during the first and second quarter of 2017 is Transformers:

Forged to Fight

With the release of their latest Transformers movie, Hasbro Entertainment dishes out their

big robotic guns to the iOS.

Follow the Autobots, Decepticons, Predacons and Maximals in an interplanetary battle that

holds the future of Cybertron.

Similar to Warner Brothers' Injustice 2 and Arkham Origins, it's a fighting game

where players use their fingers to swipe, tap and flick the screen to defeat their opponent.

Unleash your powerful special attacks and roll out to deal devastating damage.

Choose from a wide variety of iconic Transformers such as Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Starscream,

Megatron and more in a fight for the future.

This is the biggest Transformers mobile game that caters all the characters from their

universe.

Team up with your friends and forge alliances to eliminate threats.

Players can also deploy their robots to gather some sweet loot for future uses.

Critics lauded this game for being a moderately good fighting game, however, the lack of characters

from the movie makes it incomplete.

If you're in it for the fun, then this game is always a good try.

Plus, it's free.

It has a PlayScore of 8.63

Monument Valley 2

Garnering critical and market success with their debut in 2014, ustwo's Monument Valley

has had millions of fans fawning over their cute visuals, well-thought levels, impeccable

how much love there still is for the game--and they're gonna get a whole lot more, now that

there's a touching new story to unravel.

Play as Ro, as she guides her daughter through the the various mazes of their mysterious

drive to push through what used to be a fresh, but somehow lacking journey.

A masterpiece lives on, and it has a PlayScore of 8.65.

MUL.MASH.TAB.BA.GAL.GAL

Pong makes its way to the modern generations as a stylish, frenetic underwater adventure.

From the creators of two distinctly successful games, comes a title no one ever expected--literally.

a language nobody understands.

It really doesn't take itself too seriously, and yet it manages to deliver in all fronts.

This game is fun as balls!

And these balls, especially, are very fun.

Just take joyful splash into their wonderful aquatic world, and use both of your hands

to ricochet said balls against turtles, clams, fossils, and so much more.

With their array of paddles to unlock, unleash your potential with bonuses and new offensive

KAMI 2

Get caught in a struggle for perfection in this sequel to the serene yet challenging

Its design is based on japanese paper designs, taking inspiration from the graceful paper-folding

of the art of Origami.

Minimalistic as it is, it packs a ton of content, with over 100 hand-crafted puzzles and a whole

lot more from player contributions.

Like most minimalist games, the goal is simple.

Fill the board with a singular color in the fewest moves possible.

Here's the rub, just like the Japanese art form it was based on, it won't take anything

other than perfection.

But with a helpful hint system, nothing is impossible.

Unlock more puzzles by completing each page, explore creations made by other users, and

make your own with their built in editor.

All of that for the price of absolutely nothing.

It's smooth, challenging, but not without its flaws, with a few hints to a pay to win

system and a slightly repetitive gameplay.

It has a PlayScore of 8.73.

Just don't get busted or you get sent to jail.

For the lazy, you could hire more workers to automate the clicking for you.

Talk about efficiency.

Players are loving the simplicity of its upgrade system, while others are giving it less stars

due to its unintended crashes.

Nevertheless, it's a fun game and a good time-killer.

It has a PlayScore of 8.90

1.

And the best iOS game of 2017 so far is Flipping Legends

From one of the most popular studios for the best mobile games on the market, Noodlecake

makes a move towards 3D pixels in this action game full of brawls, swordfights, and spell-filled

duels.

In something that resembles a cross between pixel and polygons, flip around its limited

playing field and survive a barrage of scary spikes and deadly traps while collecting coins

and killing off enemies along the way.

Flipping Legends differentiates itself from the many clones of the tired endless runner

genre.

It veers away from the traditional sidescrolling format, and opts for vertical navigation,

that's reminiscent of most music games.

While sound plays no part in the gameplay, it still requires a fair amount of rhythm.

Choose from Ninja, Warlock, Ranger, and more, and steer your character diagonally and backwards

through the map.

It's unique innovative, and so, so addicting.

Beat your own highscores in this one of a kind, free-to-play action game.

No wonder it's the year's highest rated iOS game, with an impressive PlayScore of 9.31.

This Game SOCKS - Final Fight [Beat 'em Up - Arcade - Capcom - 1989] - Duration: 2:51.

River City Ransom Underground is not the awesome game that I can't stop playing that I was hoping for after 30 years. Word.

Better ones are Brawl Brothers, Violent Storm, Undercover Cops, Sonic BlastMan 2 and even f'n 64th Street: A Detective Story

But the latter one is missing playing with a hot chick, and that's something I can only let pass to mutherfucking Captain Commando

'cuz the fucking shitty thugs anarchist punks wannabes he kills them with fire, electricity, explosions or chopping them like taco meat

And even though you couldn't play with a chick, they were enemies, the same with Final Fight. Although these ones were futanari, or traps.

Like this f'n neko that they still don't reach an accord if it has a sausage or a vertical bacon sandwich

I don't know if it is pettanko or a girl with a dick, but I wonder why do lolis cosplay as Rem if they are flat, when they could just buy a wig of another color to dress up as Ram

The same thing with Hestia, chibi gals wanted to get on the hype train, when they had 2 big reasons not to

Instead of doing Lili, who doesn't have as much "plot", and her clothes help dissimulate

But back to Beat 'em Ups, these trans baddies or whatever they are, went out looking for an honest job after getting their asses handed to 'em

I don't know if all Mad Gear stopped with the bullstuff, but at least Poison became a Wrestler Manager

She only needed a good beating to look for something legal to do

That's what bedwetter punk kids that steal people's phones on the streets need

Since their mama didn't spank them as little annoying brats, the dose has to be higher now that they're big

And SNES Mini should had Super Double Dragon, TMNT IV Turtles in Time and Final Fight 3

The Best Brawlers of the 16-Bit Era and whoever says otherwise is topu
