Youtube daily so Jun 21 2017

hey guys I'm gonna be interviewing my friend Jamal over here today

hello I'm Jamal I'm from Pakistan I'm I've been here for like a year and I'm

doing major in Physics and my minor in Astronomy. Okay so we're going to be

asking Jamal a few questions today and we're going to start off with what was

kind of the first thing you saw here that was a lot different from what

you're used to back in Pakistan. Well the first thing that I saw was like people

here are very different they're more open about subjects or in general they're

more open about like what I'm not used to like people in Pakistan they're not

very open and there's another thing to people here are too PC you know like

they get offended so easily back in my country you can like yell at somebody

do whatever you want nobody gets offended yeah I feel like that sometimes

too like in Serbia is more open for that kind of stuff okay so what what would

you recommend for some international students to do it to cope with some

cultural issues they might have so I would recommend that like international

students that are planning to come here they should start watching like TV shows

and movies that are like cultural sort of and there so they can wrap their head

around that people here are different so you had... Like college movies

like American pie... no, no, no that's stupid you know I watched it and I was so happy

oh this is what's gonna happen. It's not like that yeah. yeah that's that's good

because a lot of people think is going to be of that, for like movies. The first

day I got here my friends were like okay so how many drinks have you had

how many girls did you hook up with? I just got here like it's been a day. Okay so um how

is for example the school system here different than the school system

then you use the back in Pakistan? School system back there is all memorization

You basically they give you textbooks and you have to memorize each and every

test or word by word like some teachers are so strict that even if you change

like a little bit for example the word like synonyms or something he'll deduct

your grades and like it's competitive compared to here like each student

cares about always gonna be the first guy he's gonna have first position here

nobody cares and it's more about concept Everybody cares about themselves yeah

not about others. Yeah I mean here it's more of a concept which I like yes you

can write and because I understand idea not every factual detail yeah yeah yeah

that's smart I feel the same way too okay so how do you feel about spending

time with international students from other countries not from like Pakistan

I feel weird like most of my friends are from different countries for example

view and a couple more from like Nepal and India and all the way around the world it's really

fun like you get to experience how their life of their culture is their food I

love food okay so yeah did you want to add something - no okay so what about

spending time with Pakistani students because there are a few Pakistani students yeah there

were like a hundred I do know all of them like most of them

like I know other faces not I don't know that my name I just say hi hello because

I'm in a organization, but other than that like I have like two three

friends that I hang with sometime and like I usually avoid them

because I'm like I've met these people back home oh okay here I should learn

something different yeah and meet new people yeah okay so what about American

you just mentioned meeting new people. What about Americans? Americans like I have like five

or six American friends four of them are my roommates

so they're pretty tough yeah you know and there's another guy's a graduate

student in his name is Marty mm-hmm he has actually been to Pakistan and

India and now he's learning Urdu on a professional level really so he's

like really good. So do you guys talk in Urdu for example? He knows like he's

going there this summer to start learning. Okay yeah. Okay

that's interesting okay but let's so I know you live off-campus in an apartment

but what are some of your favorite activities to do on campus like sports

mostly okay like swimming, ping pong, I don't really play basketball. I saw you playing racquetball

Yeah I play racquetball a lot. Okay so those sports for example are not you're like "typical"

American sports do you find a lot of people to play with? Not really, like I'm

still looking for people so if anyone here from MSU is watching please play

racquetball with me! I'm desperate! But ping pong yeah that

is like there's a lot of people who play ping pong like this recently like put a

table at CSU now it's all like crowded. Is it international students mostly?

Yeah mostly Nepali and Indians. Okay that's interesting. Asians mostly. Okay another

question a lot of international students always think about is how important is

it to work here and do you personally work here on campus? I'm planning to like

I actually got a job offer for next semester like I've been trying you ever

since I got here because like dollars compared to Rupees

like 1 rupees like point zero zero one dollar

pretty much paying like $4,000 like back home it's like pain 400,000 like that's

too much burden and like you need a job if you want to come here unless you're

super rich and you drive a sports car back home then you're fine. There are students like that

too here. You okay so what kind of job did you get?

I got a job in that University Dining Center. I would say like don't

be shy just get whatever job you can get like I also did snow shuffling so but

don't be shy just get whatever job it's not embarrassing work is work

okay yeah and just a side note international students can only work up

to 20 hours a week on campus just you guys know okay so um going from Pakistan

which is mostly like a very warm country for coming here to Minnesota how did you

even come hear about the school and why did you choose to come here what what

were some of the main reasons why you choose to come here? So like I didn't

really have any reason I was like back home like there's no physics program

like this okay I get to do a physics degree the best thing you will be a high

school teacher the university teacher I didn't want that I want to do research so

my friend that he actually came here before me like one semester before me

so he told me about this I looked it up I applied and like the tuition was

manageable so I was like, I'm gonna go there. International students here at MSU Mankato don't have to pay

out-of-state tuition which is in most colleges it's usually at least double the

tuition that domestic students pay from their home

states it's a big difference okay so last question is kind of Would

you recommend some fellow Pakistani students to come here and why or why not?

Oh yes definitely it's super fun especially like all of my friends are still like planning to go to

university please come here like all of us together we can smash windows again

and do all that stuff without getting caught hopefully. That was epic Jamal

thanks bro and be sure to subscribe like and comment

ask Jamal any questions you guys might have yeah he will leave my contact in the

description. Of course. BYE

Days Gone | What We Know So Far | E3 Favorites - Duration: 4:05.

(start sound, dog barks)

- Bend Studio is seemingly creating a post apocalyptic, open world action survival story

compelling enough to make fans of The Last of Us clamor up in anticipation.

Although not much is known about bounty hunter, badass biker slash enforcer, Deacon St. John,

the more I learn about gameplay elements, the more intrigued I am.

That's difficult to do seeing that my interest in games first and foremost lies in the lure of the story.

Right now, all I know is that Deacon St. John is a man who's lost everything

and is living in a world full of chaos and horror.

Much of his background and the reason he keeps fighting is still unknown.

But maybe we at least know the name of his biker gang?

Mongrel perhaps?

Days Gone is set 2 years after a world-wide pandemic

with an infection that isn't limited to humans.

Adults turn into Freakers, called Swarmers when in hordes.

Children turn into Newts.

Wolves turn into Runners.

And there are even infected crows and Bears.

Flesh eaters are everywhere and they aren't the only enemies coming after you.

You'll also be faced by marauders and considering Deacon is a biker, I'm wondering if other factions will include different biker gangs.

- I'm not here for him. I'm here for you.

- If that's not enough, the weather and day/night cycles will have a significant impact on how you play the game.

Enemies you encounter change depending on those factors.

Freakers aren't keen on snow but they do enjoy it when it rains and they thrive in the dark.

If it's a snowy day you're more likely to run into hungry crows instead of freakers or runners.

- We could have totally different weather cycles.

It's not like, preprogrammed.

When you guys saw it, it was raining.

When we saw it, it was snowing.

- It was snowing and that really changed things up.

- And these environmental factors also affect their vision as well as yours.

And that's not all, that nifty bike of yours, well, let's just say, mind your traction.

You will have certain advantages.

For one you'll be able to craft and enhance weapons with items that you scavenge.

Confirmed weapons as of now include a sniper file, an axe, a pistol, knife, a cross bow and an AK47.

And you can keep all of these handy tools on your bike.

You'll be able to perform sneak attacks from high grass and even craft traps which kind of gives me Horizon Zero Dawn flashbacks.

Survivor Vision is also a thing and the best example I can give is a scenario

where it guides you to clues and a highlighted path to a kidnapped friend.

From the sound of it I'm getting a Witcher 3/Horizon Zero Dawn vibe. And that's not a bad thing.

So how about it? Is Days Gone on your list of E3 favorites? Let me know in the comments below.

Days Gone is a Playstation exclusive and is set to release sometime in December 2017.

No exact date is known as of yet.

Thanks for watching guys!

What's Happened So Far – Mid Year @NASA – June 16, 2017 - Duration: 4:38.

"Here's some of our top stories of 2017, so far – Mid-Year at NASA!"

In January we announced two new missions to previously unexplored asteroids.

The Lucy mission in 2021 will study so-called Trojan asteroids trapped by Jupiter's gravity,

and the Psyche mission in 2023 will investigate a very large metal object in the solar system's

asteroid belt.

Both missions can teach us more about the earliest eras of our solar system.

The Most Earth-Size, Habitable-Zone Planets around a Single Star (2-24-17 TW@N)

(VO)[Super: February]

In February we announced our Spitzer Space Telescope has found seven Earth-sized planets

in the TRAPPIST-1 system – about 235 trillion miles away.

Three of the planets are in that system's habitable zone – which means liquid water

is possible.

It's the most planets ever found in a single star's habitable zone, and the best target

yet to study potentially habitable Earth-sized worlds.

We highlighted the transition of Kennedy Space Center to a multi-user spaceport with the

February launch of a SpaceX resupply mission to the International Space Station.

It was the first commercial launch from Kennedy, and the first from historic launch pad 39A

since the final space shuttle mission in 2011.

In March, President Trump signed the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Transition

Authorization Act of 2017.

The bipartisan legislation reaffirms Congress' commitment to the agency.

Our acting Administrator, Robert Lightfoot thanked the president and Congress for their

support.

In April, the President called the International Space Station to congratulate Peggy Whitson

on her 535th day in space -- a new record for cumulative time in space by a U.S. astronaut.

We announced our Cassini mission found a key ingredient for life in the ocean on Saturn's

moon Enceladus, and that our Hubble Space Telescope might have spotted a vapor plume

on Jupiter's moon Europa in the same location a plume was seen in 2014 – possible evidence

of subsurface water on the icy moon.

Cassini also made its first dive through the narrow gap between Saturn and its rings – returning

the first ever images from that previously unexplored region.

Cassini is making 22 dives as part of it's Grand Finale.

The mission will conclude with a science-rich plunge into Saturn's atmosphere on Sept. 15.

In May, the first science results from our Juno spacecraft revealed that Jupiter has

Earth-sized polar cyclones, a magnetic field that is stronger than expected, and plunging

storm systems that reach down much deeper into the planet's atmosphere than expected.

A milestone spacewalk aboard the International Space Station.

Peggy Whitson and Jack Fischer completed the 200th spacewalk in support of station assembly

and maintenance.

Just over a week later, Whitson moved into third place on the all-time list for cumulative

spacewalking time following the station's 201st spacewalk.

Our James Webb Space Telescope was shipped to Johnson Space Center for cryogenic testing

in Johnson's Chamber A – the same "deep-freeze" vacuum chamber where Apollo lunar spacecraft

were tested.

This is Webb's last critical test before launch in 2018.

In early June, Solar Probe Plus – the first

mission designed to fly directly into the sun's atmosphere – was renamed the Parker

Solar Probe, in honor of University of Chicago physicist, Eugene Parker.

Parker is best known for developing the concept of solar wind.

The mission launches in 2018 to study the physics of stars.

And Vice President Mike Pence helped announce America's newest class of astronaut candidates

at Johnson Space Center.

Out of more than 18,000 applicants, 12 men and women were selected.

Making the 2017 astronaut class -- the largest selected since 2000.

Future astronauts will launch on American-made commercial spacecraft and carry out exploration

missions that will take humans farther into space than ever before.

And those are some of our top stories of 2017, so far – Mid-Year at NASA!"

Why Serena Joy From The Handmaid's Tale Looks So Familiar - Duration: 5:48.

When The Handmaid's Tale premiered on Hulu, you might have noticed quite a few familiar

faces—including Yvonne Strahovski, who plays Serena Joy.

If you're wondering where you've seen Strahovski before, well you're in luck—we've put together

a list of her most visible roles over the years.

Chuck

For five years, Strahovski played CIA agent Sarah Walker on the NBC action spy comedy

Chuck.

Agent Walker is one of the agents assigned to protect Chuck after he accidentally downloads

secret government information into his brain.

While her primary mission was to keep Chuck safe from the rogue groups trying to capture

him, her cover as Chuck's "girlfriend" eventually became the real deal.

Strahovski's character on Chuck was a fan favorite, and she went on to win both a Teen

Choice Award and two TV Guide Awards for her work.

Mass Effect

Strahovski first lent her voice to the character of Miranda Lawson in the mobile spin-off game

Mass Effect Galaxy, then hit the video game franchise full-time in Mass Effect 2 and the

follow-up, Mass Effect 3.

But she provided more than a voice for the character — Miranda was actually designed

to look like Strahovski.

"They scanned my face into it and then they made me brunette.

And then the body is not mine.

The body is not mine!"

Strahovski was nominated for a Spike Video Game Award for her role as Lawson, and Lawson

has frequently been included in "Hottest Video Game Character" lists.

If that Mass Effect movie project can ever get off the ground, here's hoping Strahovski

will be back.

Killer Elite

After years of acting mostly in TV shows, Yvonne Strahovski landed one of her first

big film roles with 2011's Killer Elite, where she starred as Jason Statham's love interest.

Their attempt to start a romance runs into a few roadblocks along the way, however, and

they both get caught up in a deadly game of cat and mouse with international killers.

Killer Elite wasn't a massive hit with critics, but it showcased Strahovski's acting abilities

and primed her career for even bigger roles to come.

The Guilt Trip

In a twist on the traditional road trip movie, The Guilt Trip chronicles the cross-country

adventure of Joyce and her adult son, Andy, played by Barbra Streisand and Seth Rogen.

Along the way, of course, two discover a lot more about themselves than they planned.

Yvonne Strahovski plays a small but memorable role as one of Andy's old girlfriends who

rescues them when their car breaks down.

While it's a relatively small part, Strahovski definitely helps Streisand turn the awkward

up to 11 during this cringe-inducing scene.

Dexter

Showtime's serial-killer drama Dexter ran for eight seasons, and one of the highlights

of the last two of those seasons was the introduction of Hannah McKay, played by Strahovski, a woman

with secrets just as dark as Dexter's.

McKay's complicated romantic relationship with Dexter evolves until the final episode,

and eventually comes to a head as the two killers attempt to flee the country together.

We're not sure how many real relationships start with attempted murder, but on Dexter,

what else would you expect?

24: Live Another Day

Although Strahovski played a CIA agent in both Chuck and 24, the character of Kate Morgan

couldn't be more different from the light-hearted role of Sarah Walker on Chuck.

In 24: Live Another Day, Morgan is the widow of another CIA agent who committed suicide

after he was accused of treason.

True to the show's style, Kate Morgan is a gritty, serious character who doesn't pull

any punches as she ruthlessly tracks down Jack Bauer and works to uncover his true motives.

Along the way, she learns the shocking truth behind her husband's alleged treason.

I, Frankenstein

This action-fantasy film drops the reanimated monster of Victor Frankenstein into an epic

struggle between good and evil that makes its way to the modern day.

Caught in the middle of this conflict is Yvonne Strahovski's character, Terra, a scientist

conducting experiments on reanimation for Naberius, played by Bill Nighy—not realizing

his true nature as a demon.

Frankenstein's monster must do his best to not only defeat Naberius and foil his plans,

but also save Terra before the demon prince can use her to create an army of undead.

The Astronaut Wives Club

This ABC miniseries aired in 2015 and chronicled the lives of the wives of the "Mercury Seven"—America's

first astronauts.

Set during NASA's most tumultuous period, the show covers everything from the first

manned American flight in space to the first moon landing.

While obviously dramatized for television, it's an intriguing look at women thrust into

the spotlight simply because of who they were married to.

Strahovski co-stars as Rene Carpenter, wife of Scott Carpenter, who flew in the second

orbital mission.

Manhattan Night

In this crime drama from 2016, Strahovski pairs up with Adrien Brody, who plays Porter,

a crime reporter in New York City.

The pair start an illicit romance when Strahovski's character, Caroline, contacts him to uncover

information about her husband's recent mysterious death.

Soon, they find themselves caught up in a mystery bigger than they'd imagined.

Manhattan Night is a stylish modern noir that didn't make any big waves on its release,

but it showed off Strahovski's acting range.

And now that she's co-starring in Hulu's hit series The Handmaid's Tale, there's no telling

where Yvonne Strahovski's career will go next.
