Liverpool won't be charged with tapping up Southampton's Virgil van Dijk

The Premier League have opted against taking further action against Liverpool for allegedly tapping up Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk. The Reds were forced to publicly apologise and end their interest after the south-coast club lodged a formal complaint about their approach.

This came after Jurgen Klopp was said to have met Van Dijk, prompting the Netherlands international to set his sights on moving to Merseyside.

But Liverpool's swift, evasive action looks to have paid off, with various reports including the Telegraph revealing that the Premier League are unlikely to take disciplinary action.

Southampton's complaint is still believed to stand, but they have not supplied any further evidence after the issue was effectively resolved between the two clubs.

This is a major relief for the Reds, who could have faced a fine or even a suspended points deduction for their transgression, but it may go against them if they find themselves in a similar situation again.

Liverpool are currently banned from signing domestic players for their academy, after being caught up in a move to sign a 13-year-old Stoke City youngster.

Whether the Premier League's ruling prompts a revival of the Reds' interest in Van Dijk remains to be seen, but it seems likely.

Klopp has not been reported to have targeted any other centre-backs since the fallout of Liverpool's pursuit of the 25-year-old.

Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly and Lazio's Stefan de Vrij were both mooted as possible alternatives earlier in the summer, but even talk of the Serie A pair has subsided this month.

Southampton are now believed to value Van Dijk at £70 million, which is £10 million higher than the Reds could initially have paid, presenting a conundrum for the Liverpool hierarchy.

Signing the 6'4″ centre-back would arguably solve Klopp's issues at the heart of the defence but at a considerable cost.

Liverpool are facing a similar decision over whether to move for RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita, who is also rumoured to be available for £70 million, but also the ideal addition.

Securing the signings of both Van Dijk and Keita would add genuine, top-level quality to Klopp's squad ahead of 2017/18.

And with the Reds returning to European football next season, it may be worth the outlay, to ensure they have the best chance possible of holding their own among the continent's elite.

Danny Ings steps up recovery as Liverpool striker continues work at Melwood

Danny Ings provided an update on his recovery from a knee problem that has ruled him out since October, with the Liverpool striker back in training.

Ings suffered his second major knee injury in as many seasons during the Reds' 2-1 win at home to Tottenham in the League Cup fourth round.

This ultimately kept him out for the rest of the season, bitterly mirroring his layoff with an ACL rupture for the majority of the 2015/16 campaign.

The 24-year-old has made just three senior appearances under Jurgen Klopp, totalling 75 minutes on the pitch, and faces a defining summer as he attempts to carve out a long-term role at Anfield. Taking to Instagram on Monday night.

The striker said he was "climbing that mountain," with Adam Lallana and Marko Grujic among those to laud Ings for his efforts ahead of Liverpool's pre-season schedule.

His routine includes ball work as well as sprinting, suggesting he is closing in on a return to full training alongside his team-mates when the Reds reconvene early next month.

Liverpool's first summer friendly comes against Tranmere Rovers on July 12, though that is likely to be come soon for Ings.

There has been speculation over Ings' role under Klopp throughout the summer so far, due to the extent of his injuries since joining Liverpool from Burnley in 2015.

The Reds paid a record tribunal fee of £6. 5 million for the former Bournemouth youth on his move to Merseyside, with a further £1. 5 million in add-ons included in the deal.

He is unlikely to have met the targets laid out in this package so far, however, having scored three times in 11 games for Liverpool.

Klopp has already moved to sign another centre-forward this summer in Chelsea youngster Dominic Solanke, with the 19-year-old joining Ings, Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi.

While Sturridge could leave the club this summer in search of regular first-team football, both Firmino and Origi are expected to stay.

If Sturridge remained, with Klopp no doubt willing to retain the No. 15 for another campaign, Ings would likely serve as fifth-choice striker, competing with Origi and Solanke for a backup role.

Klopp is an admirer of Ings, however, particularly due to his commitment in recovery and his professionalism off the field. He may still have a part to play for Liverpool, but a loan move may be wise this summer.

With this WordPress plugin, you won't need to leave your dashboard to check your stats

and, more than that, you'll also be able to view a number of custom interactive charts

After you install and activate the plugin, head to the Analytics section in your dashboard.

If you haven't created a web-property with your current site URL the first thing you

need to do next is to authenticate.

If you don't have any google analytics accounts yet, you need to do that immediately by accessing

this link then get back and click the Authenticate link again.

Once you are done with this step, you can upgrade to the paid version of this plugin

if you consider necessary these options and you need the Custom Reports section to be active.

Head back to Analytics and push the Allow & Continue button to get started.

Your plugin is enabled now with all the features for the free version and you can see some

Google Analytics stats in your dashboard.

Furthermore, you can go to settings and configure some options according to your preferences.

The Analytics Dashboard is where you can see everything from your Google Analytics account

without leaving the WordPress dashboard.

You can play around with all the information and options in Reports and Tracking sections.

The Goal Management section is where you can set and manage goals for your website tracking.

Select the View that you're going to track and configure these options based on the type
