Manchester United launch £62million Marquinhos bid as they look to land PSG star despite already signing Victor Lindelof

MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly launched a £62million bid for Paris Saint-Germain star Marquinhos. Brazilian newspaper Globo Esporte claims the Red Devils have tabled an audacious offer for the centre-back and are now waiting for a response from PSG.

Manchester United have reportedly made a £62m bid for Marquinhos. United have already spent £30m on Benfica ace Victor Lindelof and fans are sure to be surprised by seeing another central defender linked with the club.

Whether it's a sign that Jose Mourinho intends to switch to a three-man defence also including Eric Bailly remains to be seen.

But Marquinhos' versatility means he can also play at right-back, which is why he is said to be on the radars of Barcelona and Juventus as well.

The PSG star is also believed to be a target for Barcelona and Juventus.   PSG defender Marquinhos in tears after wife tells him that hes going to be a dad.

Man United have already signed Victor Lindelof from Benfica for £30m. The 23-year-old has been at PSG for four seasons after a move from Roma in 2013, clocking up 155 appearances in all competitions since.

However, Marquinhos recently claimed he was not looking to move on ahead of the 2018 World Cup, saying: "I am happy in Paris. The ambition of the club is ambitious.

Whether Jose Mourinho intends to play a back three including Eric Bailly remains to be seen.

Marquinhos has recently said that he will not be leaving PSG this summer. "PSG do not want to sell me and, alongside Marco Verratti, I am part of the basis of the club's project.

"Aside from that, it will depend on the negotiations (for a contract extension) because it is never simple, but I think that I will stay.

Discussions could extend until Thursday's National Basketball Association draft – or beyond.

Though that potential trade necessitates the Pacers will not get Russell or Mozgov from the Lakers in any potential deal for George, it may signal the Lakers are moving to create a more attractive deal for Indiana's star forward.

The Cavaliers and Lakers were the top two teams to make a deal for George this week.

However, the Celtics reached the Eastern Conference Finals last season and are on the short list of teams that could realistically challenge the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors in the coming years.

A four-time All-Star, the 27-year-old Southern California native is considered one of the game's best two-way players and would be the cornerstone of the Lakers' plans to rebuild. The NBA has lost it's mind since the conclusion of the NBA Finals.

If George has made his intentions clear, IN has no chance IN convincing him to stay with the Pacers regardless of any free agent acquisitions they might make to strengthen the team.

If the Lakers don't want to wait until next summer to sign Paul George, they could put together a package of young players to send to Indiana.

He averaged 23.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game last season and has returned to form following the gruesome leg injury he sustained in 2014 playing with Team USA.

The rumblings were there all season long: He grew up near Los Angeles in Palmdale, Calif. and idolized Magic Johnson, who's now Lakers president.

Q: So the Cavs would trade Love for George with the risk that George could leave in a year? According to Lowe, teams hope that if the Lakers land George, he'll become disillusioned with the losing and, in turn, want to leave in free agency in 2018.

With the draft approaching, the Pacers, according to sources, are optimistic that other teams' offers for George will become more enticing Thursday afternoon before the draft that night.

But that deal wouldn't seem to make much sense for the Pacers as they would be taking on several aging players with large contracts. One of the toughest parts about the whole Paul George trade would be convincing him to re-sign.

But sources told ESPN that it remains unclear whether the sides can agree to trade terms before the draft, given Indiana's desire to acquire the Lakers' No. 2 overall pick and L.A.'s well-chronicled reluctance to surrender it.

They don't have many assets to work with when it comes to facilitating a trade for George, but they do have Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving, both of whom are All-Stars who would fit in well with the team's up-and-coming center Myles Turner.

MANCHESTER UNITED have snatched Juventus chief scout Javier Ribalta – the man credited for turning the club into the dominant force of Italian football.

Ribalta has quit Juve after five years at Turin and will head up the scouting operation at Old Trafford. Manchester United have snatched Juventus chief-scout Iavier Ribalta to boost their talent spotting.

Manchester United hope their appointment of a new scout will help them sign Alvaro Morata. He is credited as the man who helped advise the Serie A club to sign Paul Pogba, Dani Alves, Sami Khadira and Kingsley Coman.

His time at the club has seen Juventus establish themselves as the best team in Italy, winning six successive league titles and reaching last years Champions League final.

Ribalta also played a key role in Juve signing Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, and United believe he can have a big influence in helping to land the striker this summer.

He put his job on the line to insist Juve spalshed out £18million on Morata, who at the time was struggling to make any impact in Madrid.

Javier Ribalta played a major part in Juventus signing Manchester United target Alvaro Morata.

Ribalta went out on a limb to persuade Juventus to sign Morata in 2014.

The pair have maintained a close relationship ever since, and a year after he signed Moratas father admitted in an interview: Javi has been Alvaros main supporter here in Turin.

United now hope that relationship will help them finally push through their summer-long chase for the Real Madrid star.

The scout also played a large role in tempting Dani Alves to Turin from Barcelona.

But United believe they can reach an agreement for around £63m as Jose Mourinho looks to add a cutting edge lacking in his side for periods last year.

Ribalta will work in a senior level reporting into Mourinho and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward at Old Trafford.

Manchester United hope to clinch a deal with Real Madrid to sign Alvaro Morata. Mourinho has overhauled the scouting structure he inherited when he took over at the club a year ago, with former Liverpool man Mark Anderson the first to arrive.

He then raided Legia Warsaw to bring in Radoslaw Kucharski with the job of finding talent in central and eastern Europe.
