Road trip Alpes 2018
5 days
1700 km
Saint-François-Longchamp
and the Col de la Madeleine are done
I'm going down there to Albertville
and it will be the official part of
Route des Grandes Alpes (Great Alpine Road)
episode 2/3
La Route des Grandes Alpes Great Alpine Road
things getting more interesting
direction Roselend
Roselend lake, Roselend dam
Cormet de Roselend, I did not understand what it was
well apparently it's a lake with a dam
but the "Cormet", I do not know what that means!
and here we are leaving Beaufort, the village
and cross Beaufort, the forest
and here for the summit of Roselend
the "Cormet", so that I do not know what it is
I'll have to check
it must be a pass or something like that
(Cormet = pass between two valleys)
oh okay, I just see the GPS
there are plenty of hairpins like that
hopefully, no motorhome on this road
so, the passes, they are opened
Col de l'Iseran, it's what I will do
I'm leaving Bourg-Saint-Maurice
after refueling
and we will be able to ride on one of the highest passes of my road trip, Iseran
it is a local biker
he's making his evening ride
he knows the road very well
and come back in a sunny area
it's nice
I thought it was getting dark there, and in fact, not at all
Iseran, let's go!
look at the height of the ski slopes signs
it gives idea of the amount of snow in winter
and this is the Iseran, so as to each pass
the game for everyone is to put his bike in front of the stone and takes pictures
what I prefer is the scenery
not the milestones
it does not have a lot of interest
already 5pm, kind of windy
and little cool, I think the elevation is about 2700 m
I can downhill now
in the valley to take my hotel
I never caught the cyclist...
and with this twisty road
down to Iseran, it will end this day
the program for tomorrow
is to continue the Route des Grandes Alpes including
passes of Télégraphe, Galibier, Lautaret and Col de Vars
until Guillaumes
the town of Guillaumes
or GuillaumeS, I do not know how it is pronounced
it's still very complicated
how to pronounce the villages names
caution, groundhog in the middle of the road
I think you have not seen anything
oh, the groundhog is here
so, it will be my last word
see you tomorrow
Day 2 / Day 3
and here is the sign of Route des Grandes Alpes
I'm going to Valloire
just after the Col du Télégraphe
and Col du Galibier
and then the Col du Lautaret
so these are all the passes of this morning
with a motorcycle, we ride slowly than these crazy cars
with their Porsche
all colorful
all silkscreened
what is this car? a kind of scooter
there is the Col du Télégraphe
Valloire, it's done! Now 17 km
to reach the top of the Galibier
first photographer of the day
I have a bad haircut, it will be awful
and here for the Galibier
still so many people in this small space
motorcycles, bicycles, motorhomes
it's the routine for tourists
and then we will get to the Lautaret
which is just a little lower
without feet on the ground!
and now we are in the Hautes-Alpes
towards Briançon, Serre-Chevalier
in front of me, a group of German
an behing me, a group of Swiss with yellow helmets
there are bikes everywhere
and after the break refueling in Briançon
the direction is Col d'Izoard
or Col de l'Izoard, it depends
both can be said
but the official name is rather
Col d'Izoard
and just when I told you that there is a sign "Col de l'Izoard"
but on the stele, it's written "Col d'Izoard"
and the photographers are everywhere
that means it's almost the top
and now, way down of Izoard
I did not stop for a long time
I almost fall off, of course, in front of everyone
it was pretty complicated, I wanted to take a picture
of my bike in front of the obelisk
but we had to be careful with the sun and then I have to be careful
with this turn
and the bike almost fall off
it was delicate but I managed to catch up
so I will not stay any longer on that place
and this is the Col de Vars
it's a less touristy than other passes
and here, Col de Cayolle, 25 km of turns
the road is narrow in the gorge to reach Col de la Cayolle
and that's the end of Cayolle and end of the Mercantour National Park
that means the ride is almost over for the day
last stage to Guillaumes and Valberg ski resort
and next, wait, I'm taking the bend
next, there are the Gorges de Daluis
with this brown characteristic color
but it is not part of the track of the Route des Grandes Alpes
So I had not planned to go
I know it's ten kilometers, so it can be done
if I have time tonight
if I do not arrive too late
Finally, I went there!
Now, heading for Valberg
it is a nice road to Valberg
Col de Valberg, 1672 m
it was amazing, good surprise
I think the day is really over
see you tomorrow! actually tomorrow for me
for the video, it will depend on the release planning
to be continued...

Aaron Spears advices for Beginner Drummer - Duration: 9:47.
Hi this Magalie from the blog Batteur Débutant, I'm here with Aaron Spears
If you don' know him, He's been the drummer for Usher, Lady Gaga...
- who else? So many... - er... Ariana Grande
She's not that well-known in France, for some reason... (Laughter)
Anyway... A drummer who already toured several times around the world
And now; we gonna switch in English, because Aaron does not speak French
but you'll have subtitles just below the video
- Ok, now we switch in English - Oh, ok
So I just said we're gonna have subtitles for the ones who can't read English
- Nice... nice... - And there are gonna be subtitles. - Ok.
- So, so glad you could make this interview - I'm glad to be here
I'm really... It's like the third day of our drum camp
- It's absolutely fantastic - It's been really cool
- A nice atmosphere and everything - The vibe has been great.
It's been a lot of fun being able to be here with everybody
And, you know, all the students and also the teachers and everything, I mean, it's been a lot of fun.
And I'm amazed by the progress also, because...
Because, we were just been doing an exercise with Emmanuelle
And then she was pushing the metronome quite... - Yeah, oh man...
It's amazing to see what you're able to do
Especially when you have other people like alongside, it's like the team.
Everyone wants to push together to be better, you know, so it's really really cool.
- Yeah, within something... Super cool. - Really really cool...
- Alright, so I've prepared a couple of questions for the interview... - Ok, alright!
Before diving directly to the drumming thing, I would like to know...
What was your first drum kit, do you remember?
Yeah, my first kit was actually a Yamaha Recording Custom.
This was a really... Yamaha Oak Recording Custom.
It was like a... chrome was the finish. - Yeah...
The toms... I had a 14" snare, like 5x14" snare...
May be like a 9x13" rack tom
16x16" floor tom
20x22" kick drum
And that's the one when you started drumming in church
or your very first when you owned it yourself?
This was the very first kit that I owned
this was my very very first kit, I think I got this kit...
My parents got this for me when I was...
I wanna say may be 12...
maybe 10, 12, something like that.
It's funny how we always remember the first kit!
You never forget the first one. - No! alright...
As I said, this video is for the readers and listeners of this drumming blog, "Batteur Débutant"
just "Beginner drummer", translated word by word
Most of us are like hobbyists, you know
we have a full job, families...
And just before the interview, we just touched that subject
When you want start learning drums, it's hard to find where to stop
especially when you have... not that much practice time ahead of us
like, maybe an hour, two hours, maybe push it to three hours a week, but not more...
So, what would you advise for people who want to pick up the drums,
what should they really like... start with?
I would say...
You know, it definitely starts with the interest that you have in it
I feel that if it's something that you like, and something that you enjoy,
you do your best to find time to make it happen.
Even with the schedule that you have,
you know, your family, and your work... and commitments with stuff that you have,
even if you're able to just steal away and spend just a little bit of quality time with it,
just to kind of have some fun, and enjoy it...
You know, it may not even be so much of you playing
it actually may be you just checking out other people play, may be going to a concert
to enjoy some people play or going to hear people practice; that may be a thing.
You just have to find a way to be able to water that flower,
as far as the love that you have for this music and for drums,
you have to figure out a way that works for you.
Even if the time is short, if it's with you and just the practice pad, for just a short period of time, you know...
Ten, fifteen minutes kinda like going through some different rudiments or exercise, if that's what it is...
Or, if you have the full practice pad set up
and you can sit down and put some headphones on and play to a couple songs...
Like the kind of practice we have?
Yeah, like the kind of thing that's happening there,
or even if you have a drum set and you have, like the Remo,
the mesh heads, the practice heads, you know...
because maybe the space that you live in...
you're not able to really play loud, so... maybe you have those
or electronic drum kit?
or electronic drums, I mean, you just do whatever that you can to be able to water the seed
in order to grow the flower, you know
Alright, so, it's really like maintaining a passion.
- Yeah! And you can do, like I said, there are so many ways that you can do that.
You know, play, I think, is the number one way to be able to do it, it's the execution, you know, for you to be able to do that yourself.
But then, also sometimes, being able to watch other people.
You know, being able to see other people.
And with Youtube today, that's kind of easy, I don't need to go to a gig, so...
A lot of times, the inspiration is right there, at your fingertips.
Ok great... Great advice.
And speaking of advice, what is the best ever advice you got yourself for your drumming?
Just to have fun... Yeah, to have fun, and not...
be too critical of yourself, you know.
I think, a lot of times, just as people sometimes, because we want something so bad, sometimes we can be so hard on ourselves
but you gotta remember, you know,Rome was not build in a day.
We are all human, and the only thing you can do is just do your best and in that process of doing your best,
you have to enjoy what you're doing, you gotta have fun.
Even in the mistakes that you make, you just have to enjoy what you're doing.
Have a good time.
Another thing that struck me during this three days camp is basically, like...
sometimes we can be very focused on one single detail, or...
Kevin explains some exercice he's working on...
Have you, yourself, been exploring new things, working on new exercices?
For me, it's always something...
it's always different patterns, or different workings that I'm trying to figure out how to play...
A lot of times with me, it's really about...
making sure my hands are even.
So, if it's something that I play, like a pattern I play with my right hand,
and I want to also be able to play effectively with my left hand,
like I want to be able to figure out how to be able to play it with both hands,
either together, or to play them separately,
or sometimes like one right after the other, I want to be able to do stuff like that.
Honestly, I think you master that because at some stage you said you've been changing the sticking,
and we didn't notice, and that's maybe why the camera might be some kind of useful! [Laughters]
No, anyway, I was just joking. So, this is really something, like... evenness on both hands...
Alright, so far, for me, it's really like have fun,
work down the thing,
and basically get inspired. - Yeah!
- So that's a good way, especially when it's a hobby, it doesn't have to become a burden.
Yeah, it doesn't have to be that at all.
Ok, and one last advice for one who wants to pick up the sticks tomorrow?
Go for it? - Yeah! Go for it! Have fun, enjoy it!
You know, you're playing!
So, when you're playing, you're supposed to have fun, it's supposed to be something that's enjoyable...
Nobody says "go play" and you have a frown on your face.
Of course... Go play and have fun!
Playing is supposed to be an enjoyable experience, so...
even in music when you're playing it's supposed to be something that's fun,
it's supposed to be something that you enjoy, something that's fun to do.
And it transpires in the play. - Yeah, for sure.
- Ok, well, that's for me, thanks! - For sure!
- Wish you all the best... - Thank you so much, thanks to you! - And hope to see you next year, maybe?
Yeah, maybe I'll be back here again next year if they have me back, that'd be so fun.
Voilà, it was Aaron Spears, see you sson for another video for the blog Batteur Débutant!

LA DOLCE VITA - Roberto Leoni Movie Reviews Eng sub - Duration: 6:46.
on one of these summer evenings
that in Rome are almost languid, exhausting
in a small square in the historic center
miraculously free from street vendors and tourists
where you can even felt like a confidential murmur
the chatter of a fountain
and also a sudden Ponentino breeze (typical Roman wind)
I could not help remembering sweet life times
a sweet life of which I have only been able to see the last fires
when subtracting at night
the convertible of the rich friend cousin
unconscious and happy we ran for a sparkling Rome
and I confided these memories
of this baroque but magnificent Rome
with the deserted squares the fountains that sang
and foreign girls strolling stunned by such beauty
I told these little notes to a group of young filmmakers
to my great surprise among five of them
only two had seen La dolce vita
the other three full of elaborate concepts
full of busy film situations
they had not seen this film by Fellini
which is one of the greatest masterpieces of cinema
it is even among the top ten of the films of all time
an artist like Fellini who won 5 Oscars
4 for films and one for career plus 12 nominations
he won the Palm d'Or, he is a monument of
Italian culture, custom and intelligence
ignored by these guys who claim to make films
but which films do they want to make?
one can not disregard La dolce vita
it's a film that marks an era
that separates two ways of making movies
neorealism ends with La dolce vita
another kind of cinema is born
a European international cinema
that no longer looks at the navel of Italy
telling, however, eternal facts as neorealism did
but opens Rome and Italy to the whole world
telling the story of a man who is a man for every season
a man at all times and at all latitudes
each of us is like Marcello Mastroianni in the movie
who oscillates between great intentions
and daily compromises
who would like to escape in a love dream
with Anita Ekberg
and instead returns home to the woman waiting for him
waiting for him loyal maybe even desperate
attempting suicide because he is never there
but then she really loves him
and that after all is the woman he deserves
because of all his great purposes
Rome as it happens in all the big cities
destroys you because it makes you enter a vortex
of events of facts of people
and if you are not absolutely conscious of yourself
if you're not a martyr of yourself
an ascetic who wants to work on his work
the city distracts you, takes you away, loses you
exactly as happened to so many arrived in Rome
to make movies, to make shows or to make literature
dispersed in small daily rivulets
but someone has succeeded, not by chance, for example
Tullio Pinelli who is the writer of Federico Fellini
he is clearly a provincial who came to Rome
provincial way of saying because he comes from Turin
he was even a count and when he met Federico
he is almost 50 years old when he writes La dolce vita
and Federico is 30 years old
and there is this strange association
among a cultured Piedmontese lawyer of a noble family
who has been a cavalry officer
and a gypsy vagabond like Federico
that brings many dreams and many ideas in his head
and these ideas are elaborated by a script master
that is Tullio Pinelli, who preserves, however,
with great sensitivity and great artistic value
all the fantastic and dreamlike potential
and extraordinary films are born like La strada
like La dolce vita like 8 1/2
wonderful films to which also collaborates
another genius of writing that is Ennio Flaiano
and Ennio puts that biting humour from Abruzzo
that disenchanted and slightly pungent way
which serves to give so many moments
of La dolce vita a sweet bitter taste
so it's an epochal film to watch
that I do not want to tell but that is an odyssey
it stands on two floors on this young man
in some respects we even say naive
but that actually pretends to be cynical
Marcello wandering through Rome
attracted by a thousand mirages
cinema, noblemen, money, success
and each of these mirages turns out
to be a very poor thing behind the scenes
as his teacher and mentor Steiner reveals to him
he even represents for Marcello
the maximum of what a man can achieve in life
learned, elegant, prepared, a beautiful wife
an extraordinary home, hip friends an immense culture
he commits suicide because
he does not hold the impact of this world
the small dark evil that was in Federico
his melancholy that led him to depression
is witnessed by this character
but all this does not take away anything
to the extraordinary and bombastic carousel of images
think of via Veneto rebuilt on the set
for the time it was a cyclopean enterprise
just extraordinary with the paparazzi and the stars
Federico had the glance and the strength
to understand exactly what that moment was like
a big carnival that unfortunately then
with the first economic crises it would be over
thank you

Definition and branches of chemistry - Duration: 2:37.
Today we will develop week number 1, this week will see the definition and branches
chemistry. Why study chemistry?
Chemistry is the science of matter, its physical and chemical properties. The
changes and transformations experienced and accompanying energy changes
to these transformations or process. Branches of chemistry.
We have: Number 1. Organic Chemistry.
Study carbon compounds, however, compounds such as carbon monoxide,
carbon dioxide, carbon disulfide, bicarbonate, calcium carbide, carbonate,
cyanide, are considered inorganic. Clear, these compounds have carbon, but
They are considered inorganic. No. 2. Inorganic Chemistry.
Studying the properties of all elements of the periodic table. It also includes
the study of the elements and compounds that are non-organic (mineral), we have here:
ferric oxide, zinc sulfide, lead sulfide, iron disulfide and copper dioxide
silicon, calcium carbonate. Number 3. Physical Chemistry.
Studies the general laws that govern the behavior of all matter. Study the structures
substances, the rapidly changing (kinetic) and the role of heat changes
chemical (thermodynamic), the questions arises: Why? How? How much?
Number 4. Analytical Chemistry. Analytical chemistry divided into two parts:
Part I: Qualitative. Through qualitative analysis identified
elements, ions, etc. Then qualitative analytical chemistry identifies.
Part Two: Quantitative. The task of quantitative analysis is to determine
the quantitative composition of elements, ions, etc. Then analytical chemistry
Quantitative determines the composition, will quantify how much there is, and this will
expressed in percentages. Number 5. The biochemistry.
Biochemistry studies the chemical processes (chemical reactions) occurring in the
living systems. Studies the nature of the chemical constituents of living matter,
functions and transformations, chemical and energy changes associated with these
transformations.
