Learn how to make need to line our it's in Adobe Illustrator with just one tool function that's coming right up in today's tutorial

As designers it's important to have a website to show off our portfolio of work

Bookmark offers the most straightforward and quickest way to generate an awesome website

Without even having to write down a single line of code and all completed in a matter of minutes

Check out the link in the description below to learn more about bookmark and design your website today

What is that people welcome back to Satori graphics the home of graphic design content right here on YouTube

Remember if you want to improve your skills as a designer subscribe to Satori graphics for weekly graphic design content

The very first thing that we need to do today is to apply a stroke color without a fill and then choose your shape

Making liner with this tool function works pretty well with any shape that you want to use

But I'm first going to run with an octagon and to make an octagon

Take the polygon tool click on the canvas and type in eight sides

All of the magic for your line art is going to happen right here under the effect distort or transform and then the transform window

Firstly click preview so you can see your effect changes in real time and then increase the amount of copies

For all of these settings today you should really experiment with them and see what fits best for your aligner design

Also, don't forget to have fun with it. Of course

But it's best to lower the horizontal scale tiny bits and then you might want to check or uncheck the scale stroke and effects button

Leaving it checked will fade to the inner part of your design, which you will see later

And like I said guys play around with the settings because you can make some seriously interesting designs with ease

But I will show you the one I have the most fun with later in the video

For the angle

I find it helps to double click the measurement numbers and then simply just press up and down on the arrow keys on your keyboard

This will slowly change the effect of your design like so

With the shapes that have many different sides such as hexagons and octagons

You can make some cool kind of horny shape designs by playing with the vertical and horizontal move sliders

When you have your shape set press ok, and then click the stroke in the color palette so you can edit the colors

However, if you wish to add a gradient to the line art

You need to go ahead and go up to object and expand appearance and then again into expand

As you can see now my liner design has a gradient across it and this would look pretty dope on a dark background

But we're going to move on to the next shape which is using a square

I feel you can make the best designs with a square alongside utilizing the rotate tool

So access the rectangle tool in the tool bar

Or you can press M on your keyboard and then generate a square on your illustrator canvas

Like before head into effect distort and transform and then distorts

This time the top two sliders really need to have the same values and quickly just to show you

Look how easily you can make some complex and intricate designs with this function

It really is awesome

But for this line art design keep your move sliders to zero and central and then play with the angle by double

Click in the measurement numbers and then using the arrow keys like before

You will noticed that if you in check the scale stroke option the design was going to fade into the middle

You can choose whichever setting you want for your liner design

Before you go ahead and expand the appearance of your design. You can increase or decrease the stroke weights

Remember that after you do expand the appearance. You're not going to be able to edit the stroke ways

So it's best to do that beforehand

Finally press R for the rotate tool and then hold down the alt/option key and click the very middle

You can type in a rotation value keeping it within a multiple of 360. So for example, 36 is good

Then click copy and all you need to do is the press command or control D to repeat the process

You will notice that this is a lot like a spirograph, you know these cool circular things that you use with pens and paper

So have fun with the illustrator transform function in this way and get creative with it

You can of course use your loaner designs in many different ways and you can even transfer them in with a photoshop

like I did with my design here and as stuff like a lens flare and other effects to

Barack Hussein Obama Reemerges to Make Despicable Announcement - Duration: 10:39.

Barack Hussein Obama Reemerges to Make Despicable Announcement

Most former presidents have enough class to retreat from the spotlight after they have

left office and allow their successors to lead the country unchallenged.

Unfortunately, former President Barack Obama has no class, and he has instead spent the

past year traveling the world bashing President Donald Trump.

This week, during an interview with David Letterman, Obama once again spoke out about

the president and cast doubt on the legitimacy of last year's election.

CNN reported that during the interview, Obama ranted about Russia and slammed Fox News as

he desperately tried to make Trump look bad.

"What the Russians exploited, but it was already here, is we are operating in completely

different information universes," Obama told Letterman.

"If you watch Fox News you are living on a different planet than you are if you listen

to NPR."

"One of the biggest challenges to our democracy is the degree to which we don't share a

common baseline of facts," Obama continued.

Being the self-centered egomaniac that he is, Obama went on to talk about the way he

used social media in his 2007 presidential campaign.

"We were some of the earliest adapters of social media," he said of his campaign staff.

"And we were reliant on a bunch of 22- and 23-year-olds, and volunteers … they were

communicating entirely through social media.

We essentially built what ended up being the most effective political campaign probably

in modern political history.

So I had a very optimistic feeling about it.

I think what we missed was the degree to which people who are in power … can in fact manipulate

that and propagandize."

Obama claimed that social media has led to political polarization, not acknowledging

that it was he himself who divided our entire country like no leader had before.

"If you are getting all your information off algorithms being sent through phone and

it's just reinforcing whatever biases you have, which is the pattern that develops,"

he said, "at a certain point, you just live in a bubble, and that's part of why our

politics is so polarized right now.

I think it's a solvable problem but I think it's one we have to spend a lot of time

thinking about."

Clearly, Obama still can't accept that he is no longer in the White House and therefore

has no power.

How to make Delicious Falafel..!! - Duration: 4:55.

Hello and welcome!

Today we will be making Falafel!

Falafel is a very popular traditional dish from the middle-east.

Its very delicious and also easy to make.

The main ingredient required for making falafel is chick peas or garbanzo beans.

Here I am using 1 cup garbanzo beans which have been soaked for 15 hours

now lets see the other ingredients

This quantity is for making around 20 falafels.

we'll need 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder,

2 teaspoon coriander powder

and 1/2 teaspoon red chilly powder

1 cup chopped coriander leaves

1/2 cup chopped parsley

If you dont have parsley then you can increase the quantity of coriander leaves instead.

ground black pepper

1/2 lime, 1 green chilly, salt to taste

baking soda

1 chopped onion, 4-5 garlic cloves

1/2 teaspoon seasme seeds,

2 tablespoon gram flour or plain flour

and oil for frying

First wash chikpeas and strain all the water

and add to a mixer bowl

you can use a food processor as well

now lets add all the other ingredients

Add the dry spices to onions and garlic

If you like this spicy then you can add a little more red chilly powder

Add coriander leaves and parsley

Add 1/2 lime juice

Add green chilly

Add crushed black pepper

Grind it coarsely

Here is the ground mixture.

Ensure that you dont grind it into a smooth paste

We want it to be coarse

Lets move it into a bigger bowl

Add salt to taste

add 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

add seasme seeds

and finally besan/gram flour/flour

this will help bind our mixture

you can add more if required

I'm going to add a little more crushed black pepper

Lets mix all this well

Now lets start making falafels from this mixture

Falafels are usually round or flat

You can make them in your desired shapes

I'll make one to show you

once all are ready we shall fry them in oil

Heat oil in a fry pan

start frying with the flame on high

then turn to medium/low and fry them evenly

make sure that they are cooked properly

else they can remain under cooked inside

Falafel's are looking nice and we will now remove them

So here our crisp and golden brown falafels are ready

you can enjoy falafel's with tahini sauce

you can even have them with tomato ketchup or any dip of your choice.

you can find the recipe for Tahini sauce on my channel

How to make homemade delicious fluffy Donuts - baked instead of fried! - Duration: 3:43.

Hello, welcome to Leonor's Sweet Creations!

Today we are making donuts but not fried ones,

baked ones, which are much healthier.

And I'm also going to show you how to

make these 3 different types of glazes.

You will need: 575 gram or 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour,

2 tsp dried yeast

1 tsp salt, 3/4 cups or 200ml milk, warmed,

4 eggs at room temperature,

1/4 of a cup or 80gr of honey, 1 tsp vanilla extract

and 170 gr or 3/4 cup butter, melted.

In a large bowl add in the flour, yeast and salt

but don't place the salt directly on top of the yeast

so you don't deactivate the yeast.

Mix first each ingredient with the flour

and only then, mix them all together.

In a separate bowl, whisk together

the milk, eggs, honey,

melted butter and vanilla extract.

Mix the wet into the dry ingredients with a spatula

until you form a wet loose dough.

Cover with cling film and lay a towel over the top.

Now leave the rise at room temperature for 2-3 hours.

You will see it rise and bubble up.

Once doubled in size,

place the dough in the fridge overnight

roughly for 12 hours.

But you can keep the dough for 3 days in the fridge.

Now the dough has to stay in the fridge for 12 hours

which gives you plenty of time to subscribe to my channel,

like my video, write a comment

and share it with friends and family.

After that, flour your work surface

and roll out your dough

to 1/2 centimeter or 1/4 inch thick.

Using a round cutter,

cut out your round pieces of dough.

And to cut the hole in the middle

use a smaller round cutter or a piping nozzle.

It's time to lay your donuts and donut holes on a baking tray

lined with double sheets of parchment paper

so your donuts don't brown too much on the bottom.

Cover your donuts with a towel and leave to rise again

at room temperature for 20 to 30 minutes.

Now, brush the donuts with melted butter

and bake them at 190° C or 375° F for 15 minutes.

But keep a close eye on them so they don't get too brown.

Meanwhile, you should prepare your glazes

and for that you will need:

melted chocolate and two bowls

each one with 125 gr powdered sugar

mixed with 2 tbsp of whole milk

and 1 tsp vanilla extract.

In one of the bowls, add a bit of pink food coloring.

Once your donut are out of the oven

dip them immediately in the glazes

and in the chocolate,

so they get a lovely crisp glaze.

Place them on a rack

and sprinkle some colorful sprinkles over the pink glaze.

I hope you liked it

and we are going to try them, right? -Yeah!

Let's try?

Hummm!

North Korea wants U.S. to make 'bold move' of establishing peace treaty: CNN - Duration: 1:37.

The future of North Korea's denuclearization could now hinge on the Trump administration's

willingness to establish a permanent peace treaty that will guarantee the security of

the Kim Jong-un regime.

CNN says this is what Pyongyang is calling for to continue talks with the U.S.

Kim Hyo-sun tells us more.

North Korea is reportedly insisting on signing peace treaty with the United States.

Citing unnamed sources, CNN says Pyongyang will not likely proceed further with denuclearization

talks if Washington is unwilling to make a (quote) "bold move" of replacing the armistice

agreement with a permanent peace treaty that will ensure the security of the Kim Jong-un

regime.

This can be interpreted as Pyongyang's willingness to establish a legally binding peace treaty,...

which requires the approval of two-thirds of the U.S. Senate.

The article also explains the North is pressuring the Trump administration to lift sanctions

against the regime,... believing they've been fulfilling their promises.

While the North says it has taken big steps by freezing its nuclear and missile testing,

destroying one of its nuclear sites and facilitating the upcoming repatriation of U.S. service

members' war remains,...

President Trump has reportedly expressed frustration over the lack of progress in denuclearization

talks with the regime.

Yet,...

President Trump has denied the report by the Washington Post on Monday that he's frustrated.

He slammed the report as fake news,... and tweeted he's (quote) "very happy" with the

pace of Pyongyang's denuclearization,... adding that all of Asia is happy as well.

Redstone Tutorial: How to Make Armor Stands Pose - Duration: 6:51.

Hey guys! NateOne23, here and welcome to another video where today I'm going to be doing another redstone tutorial!

So, uh last time

Last redstone tutorial was about nine months ago and

Got 208 views by now

And obviously I need to do more of that because I only care about the views and none of you! :D So yeah anyways

So, yeah because I got so many views you guys obviously liked it so let's do some more redstone tutorials

So I have this website here and like it says in the title

we're gonna be doing some poses for the

armorstands, so this website

I'll link it down in the description. it basically, it allows you to do the

armor stands and positions and stuff without having to

Know how to do all of the commands and all the "fancy weird stuff"

So this does the commands for you so you can rotate it like that

You can

rotate the head and

on all the axises pretty much and all of them and

You can also do all these fancy things like invisible once it's in the game

Invulnerable also you can that way you can never break it or anything

You can have it have no base plate, which I'm going to do that. No gravity

Which if you break the block under it, it won't fall

So arms, which that way you can move the arms and stuff like that and that's how you can pose it

You can also make it a baby armor stand

You can also enable equipment which, I'm not going to do that right now

but you can just you can go to the enter to the text IDs, so not the number but the text so like

for the chestplate it would be like minecraft:

It's like diamond_chestplate or something

but there's this website that you can go to that will link all the item IDs and

Yeah, it's really easy to do it that way

So, I'm not gonna enable equipment because I can just put it on afterwards

But because I am a walking dead meme,

I'm just... I'm gonna make it dab

Yeah, so there we go. Now I have a dabbing armorstand so you can also

In here you can also

in the helmet you can do an item name.

Which is basically just for helmets and stuff. A player name, so if I were to do that and put

nATEoNE2- Oh, I have caps! NateOne23

It's just a ghost head here, but in the game once you spawn them in,

It will have my head on it and then you can also do an image URL which will basically put an image on it

So if you wanted to put like a grass block or something you could do that

and then give code, "You can find lots of different heads here pick one cut and copy the give code into-"

Yeah

So this will-.. minecraftheads.com, that will

Give you the head that you want so you don't have to know the player name. So

You can also show a custom name here, which is basically for a name tag, so

Yeah, I did

I did all the- So this is a lot more fancy than just posing

But this tutorial is just for posing. I'm just gonna save this

So once once you have that you just basically copy this or click it

So I'm just going to highlight it press ctrl C or right click copy.

Then I'm gonna go back into Minecraft in a second

so yeah, now we're now we're in minecraft and we just place on a command block or

If you don't know how to give yourself a command block you just do

/give @p command_block

So all you need to do is paste the command into this command block

as you can see

It's the command that was in the website. Just press done, you get a button

Or some kind of redstone source, place it down, and there you go!

You have the dabbing- (chuckling) the dabbing armorstand, so

Yes, that's pretty cool.

I can't believe I made this.. What have I done with my life (dying)

Well, yeah, so I seem to be really obsessed with armor stands because last time

Last time we did a tutorial

We literally made it so that you can get a bow over here

Shoot an arrow and this will teleport. Yeah. It's a teleporting dabbing- (completely dying)

That's great. So yeah

Also, reason why I didn't talk in the last redstone tutorial is because I was sick, but

It still came out as a pretty good tutorial anyways

But anyway, so I hope you all enjoyed this video

If we can get this video to 5 likes then I will continue the series

But yeah, so I hope you all enjoyed this video and if you did make sure to hit that like button

And subscribe to join the creepers. So yeah

That's about it for today. But in the meantime, just remember fight till the Ender! Go down in the description below to

Have the links to the website and follow me on Facebook and Twitter and your my discord server. So yeah

That's about it for today, so, see ya guys!

How to make money with no effort on your Android phone (S'more, Adme apps) - Duration: 3:04.

What's up guys, today I wanted to show you a couple of apps that I use to

easily make money on my Android phone. I'd go as far as to say that this

requires no effort whatsoever, so to demonstrate, I'll go ahead and unlock my

phone using my fingerprint scanner. But before I get to my main home screen, you'll

notice that there's a couple of other lock screens, both of which have ads. So

this one is from an app called S'more, followed by this one from an app called

Adme. So I'll show you again... Honestly, this is going to quickly turn

into a habit where you can swipe away from both of these lock screens in a

matter of seconds, and just for viewing these ads, even if you don't click on

them, you do get paid. So the nice thing about S'more is that this app actually

guarantees that you get ten cents a day. You can see that I've earned ten points

every day I've used this app. And as for redeeming these points, you do have a

number of options all in the form of gift cards. So the options include Amazon, AMC,

Applebee's, Best Buy, Domino's, GameStop, Google Play, Starbucks, and Target.

For most of these stores, the minimum cash out is 500 points, which gets you a $5 gift

card, but for Amazon, the minimum cash out is actually just 100 points.

All of these gift cards are electronic, so I've had them sent to me within a few

seconds of redeeming them. And now I'll show you another app called Adme.

This one does not guarantee you a specific amount of cash, so it depends on the

number of times you unlock your phone with an internet connection, but if you

go to my history here, I have earned 10 cents almost every day. And this is even

though I have my option set to just the news feed. They do have a full screen

ad option as well, but I find these a bit more tedious since you have to press a

button to exit, rather than just swiping to the side. Another cool thing about

this app is that you can get a two cent daily bonus just by visiting the bonus page.

As for redeeming cash on Adme, unfortunately you can only do it twice a month as it

says here. But on the other hand, they do offer a lots more options including

PayPal cash and gift cards to all these stores listed here.

The minimum cash out is five bucks, but you can actually redeem your entire

account balance rather than a specific amount such as five or ten dollars, and

you have the option of donating to a charity as well. So I would highly

recommend getting these two apps if you're looking to make some extra cash

on your phone. I'll be sure to leave my referral links in the video description,

and if you use these, you can get a 75 cent bonus just for signing up for

S'more and a 30 cent bonus for signing up on Adme. So feel free to leave a

comment down below if you have any questions, and I'd greatly appreciate it

if you left a like if you think this video helped. Thanks for tuning in!

How to Make Money - Is Positive Thinking Work? How to Become Rich by Thinking Positive. - Duration: 6:12.

How to make money using positive thinking. How to become rich by thinking positive.

Hi guys, my name is Elena Semenek and welcome to my channel

"Psychology of Happiness," where happiness is the purpose of life! Today I would

like to talk to you about "How to make money", "How to be successful", "How to become rich"

using "Positive Thinking". Positive thinking will work only if you're gonna

consider 4 important things, so let's start. Step #1 is Self-Discipline

Positive Thinking is a great tool but money will not knock to your door if you

just gonna just sit and think, so how 'positive thinking' can help you with

self-discipline. If you can believe in yourself, if you can see the best in

yourself, if you're gonna be positive about yourself,

then you can incorporate this 'inner motivation' with self-discipline, so

if you want to be successful, if you wanna make money, it's very important for you

to 'act', and you will fail, you're gonna make mistakes, and that's OK, that's

normal, this is the path for success, but the self-discipline.. when you can get up

and do things over and over again, when you feeling tired, when you feeling that

it's not gonna work, when you feeling sad, or when you lose your motivation, positive

thinking would actually help you, so positive thinking will help you to get

back to self-discipline. Believe in yourself, think positive about yourself,

see the best in yourself, create the goal, and make actions towards your goal.

Step #2 is to "Evaluate your current results". A lot of people will not

continue reaching their goals when they see first results, first few results,

because usually the beginning results are not as great as you expect, so when

you evaluate your results, first of all, give it time, so if you're

starting a new job, if you're starting a new business, if you're starting something

new in your life, you should give it time, it shouldn't be one day or two, give it

at least 6 months, and then evaluate the result, if something is not working

try to figure out why, and tries to do something differently, so think positive

about what else can I do, think wider, think out of the box, so when it

comes to making money, and when you're doing something always look for

different opportunities, look for different possibilities, and don't think

that you are doing something wrong, or doing something bad,

No! Be positive about the process, so if it's not working then there is something

else that will work, and try, try different things, so evaluate your

current results and make actions based on the results.

Step #3 -

never stop learning, so motivate yourself to learn new techniques,

to learn new tools, to learn to get new knowledge in your industry, read books,

read news, talk to experts in your field, and learn how you can improve

your business, improve your services, improve your products, so positive

thinking is not only for insparation, positive thinking is also for

instruction, so be positive about your product, how you can improve it, how you

can make it better, what information do you need, where you can get this

information, if you're gonna just think positive it does not mean that people

will buy your services or your products right away. No, you have to do something

for that, and in order to improve your products, improve your services, in order

to be successful, you have to think what can I do, what knowledge do I need to

improve my business, so positive thinking is not about being lazy, positive

thinking is about inner motivation. And step #4 is how is your success

will benefit others, so if you're gonna make money then it should be benefits

for other people, the more people you can benefit with your service, or with your

products, the more money will come to your life, so positive thinking is gonna

help you in this step because you have to think about how I can positively

benefit people, so bring positive products, positive services, something that

people actually use, something that people can enjoy, think about what

positive impact you can bring to this world, what positive service you can

offer to people, to animals, to the environment, the more benefits you can

bring to the world, the more money will come to you. Positive thinking is gonna

How To Make A Story Interesting - Duration: 11:00.

There's a lot of places that we use stories, in sales, in conversation, in

speaking. How do you make a story more interesting?

Facts tell, stories sell. One

of the mantras that I've picked up as I've worked with sales teams or customer

service folk. Facts tell, stories sell. Stories are such a compelling way to

convey a message or to summarize an idea or a concept. How do we make those

stories more interesting. As a past president of the National Speakers

Association Mountain West chapter, I've had such wonderful opportunities to rub

shoulders with professional speakers who are also master storytellers and have

picked up a few ideas. Five tips to make a story more interesting. Number one,

show more than tell. Take us there, paint a picture that has us there with you in

your story. An example.. Instead of saying, I was getting on a bus in downtown

Chicago, you might invite the audience to join you there and say, so join with me

as we climb onto a bus in southwest Chicago. It feels different because

you're taking us there. Use descriptive and illustrative words that paint a

picture instead of saying big, you might say oversized or overstuffed or over

stacked depending on what kind of big you're trying to convey. In other words,

instead of the simple small word, use a word that's a little more descriptive

and paints more of a picture. As I was writing my first book, I became much more

familiar with the power of words and how each word needs to pay its own way. This

is true in a story, it's true in writing a book, it's true in giving a speech. Way

out each word according to what it can bring to the

game and then choose the words on purpose. Now the second tip, be authentic,

be real. You've experienced this, I'm sure. I know I have many times where someone's

telling a story and it's really obvious that it's canned that it's maybe not

even their story because you've heard it before. In fact, you know what, this is

almost a running joke with the National Speakers Association where I'm a member

and I really enjoy participating in those vents. We can tell at NSA, we can

tell if someone is a complete novice in the industry because they share a story

that we've all heard. There are a few classics, one of them is the starfish

story. It's actually a really great story about a guy walking along the beach and

he's throwing starfish out into the water and somebody confronts me says,

well, what are you doing? Oh, I'm just throwing the starfish out there because

they're gonna die if they stay here on the beach. The other guy looks around, he

sees that the beach is littered with all of these starfish and he says well you

can't possibly make a difference for all of these starfish. You said, well, but it

made a difference to that one because he throws another one to the sea.

Beautiful story, a lot of meaning to it and it's been very popular over the

years because of that and we know that that's a novice speaker because we've

all heard that story before. A more expert storyteller will take even that

story and find some of their own experience that can illustrate the same

point with their own story so when I say be authentic, be you, look to your own

rich life experience to find the stories and then as you present them, be you. We

don't want to just hear what you have to say, we want to experience who you are.

Being authentic allows you to do that in a powerful way and it really powers

up your story. Combine that authenticity with a

connection to the audience. We want to feel, as your audience, we want to feel

that you're sharing this for the first time. Your enthusiasm about sharing the

story, it's like it just happened to you and that connection. Even though you've

probably told it a hundred times or more, we want to think that we're special so

you connect with us as your audience in a way that allows us to experience that

story as if you're just pulling this aside as a dear friend and sharing

this story with us. Now the third of my five tips for today is to memorize the

story. You want to memorize it but you don't want it to sound memorized. You

want it to sound as if it's spontaneous and just falling from your lips as you

think about it in your head but you've actually rehearsed it enough that you've

got the whole thing memorized and you know what points need to be made at

which times but it doesn't sound memorized. Along the same line is practice.

Practice delivering this story but we don't want it to sound rehearsed so the

one thing that really helps along these lines is recording yourself. Set up a

camera or at least a digital recorder. Tell the story, listen back to it, you'll

notice things that you didn't notice in the delivery of it. The way you pronounce

certain words, the particular words that you choose all of these things will be

relevant and evident to you on the recording even though you may have

missed it in the run-through. Number four, I would encourage you to use just the

right amount of detail. Honestly, this is more of an art than a

science so I can't tell you exactly how much detail to use but if it helps you

to paint the picture, we're probably on the right track

and if it doesn't detract from the story, we're

probably on the right track. What is the right amount of detail? I've got an

example or two from a story that happened to me.. Let's just look at this

and analyze what the detail does for you and what is the right amount of detail.

So here's an example of the detail concept. 2:49 PM, April 15th 2013. Two

pressure cooker bombs explode near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

Okay, now compare that to two pressure cooker bombs explode near the finish

line of the Boston Marathon. Right, leaving out the time and date stamp. Does

that have a different effect for you? Yeah, it does. Now how much is too much?

That's going to depend on a lot of things including your audience and what

to point your hand you want to make. If you get the next paragraph of my story to

10 p.m. mountain Daylight Time, which is my time zone, by the way, the caller ID on

my smart phone indicates BYU radio. Dr. Paul, we need you to come in early to

talk about the news, can you help our listeners find a positive way to handle

this? Now that example puts another time stamp

on the story and makes it all relevant because you see that 2:49 PM, Eastern

Daylight Time, these bombs explode to 10:00 PM mountain Daylight Time, I get

a call and that helps you to appreciate some of the timing of the thing. Now is

that too much detail? Is it enough detail? I'll let you be the judge of that

but if the detail adds to the story and helps to create the content and and

bring you there visually or emotionally then probably it's good to include that.

If the detailed the tracks from the story is unnecessary then maybe you

don't want to that, that's just an example that comes

from one of the stories that I've shared. The power of the pause. Occasionally

we're so eager to get the story out that we just keep rolling, we just keep

running with the story line without any breaths. Pause, just take a moment to

allow people to feel the impact of what it is that you're sharing. I've added a

couple of pauses here in the last several seconds of this video. Do you

feel the opportunity that that gives you as a viewer of the video to just sit

with the content for a moment or to let it sink in or maybe to pursue a thought

that you're having about that content. Push the pause button, a good effective

story will create. I think at least three effects. Number one, it will make me think,

trigger some thoughts. Number two, it will make me feel something and sometimes

it's a roller coaster, we take our our listeners up and we take him back down

and we take them up again and we take him back down. You'll always want to

leave them on and up so that your story doesn't become a downer. Leave them on an

upswing. After a little bit of an emotional roller coaster ride through

the story, you want them to feel something and the third thing that I

think makes an effective story is that it motivates me to do something. Change,

adjust, make some kind of a difference because I got to hear the story. I hope

you found this helpful. I'll be back tomorrow. I hope to see you again as well.

Fighting To Make A Movie While Staying True To Its Core - CROWN AND ANCHOR Behind The Scenes - Duration: 11:03.

"Have you heard about all the stuff going around?"

"I have."

"Back in the day, your father and I would handle this and if he was here now, maybe

we'd still handle it.

But he's not and that's on you.

So the way I see it, you gotta handle this."

Bringing the DIY spirit of punk and hardcore music to indie filmmaking.

How's it going?

My name is Matt Wells.

I'm an actor and producer on the independent feature film CROWN & ANCHOR, which will be

released theatrically in the fall of 2018.

CROWN & ANCHOR is an intense family drama which examines the effects of childhood trauma

and it is scored entirely with punk and hardcore music.

Bands like GORILLA BISCUITS, YOUTH OF TODAY, DYS, JOHNNY THUNDERS, X-RAY SPEX (just to

name a few).

I made the movie in my town of St. John's, Newfoundland which is where I am right now

hiding from the rain under the trees.

I made the movie with my best friend Michael Rowe and I met him when I was in a band.

We were in a band together and that's how my journey started into filmmaking, it started

with music.

We started to have some success on music television in Canada.

We were touring with bands like SLAYER and FISHBONE and D.O.A.

Eventually that journey led me into music television.

So I all the sudden I went from being a singer in this independent band to interviewing some

of the bands that I admired.

I became a music and film journalist on music television and through the years I got to

interview people like Lou Reed and NO DOUBT, Greta Gerwig and Quentin Tarantino.

But somewhere along that journey I started to feel I wanted to do something different

which was acting and filmmaking.

And you can imagine what an aspiring actor and filmmaker can learn from interviewing

people in that world.

I did thousands of interviews and it was always sort of percolating in my brain.

To be quite honest with you what I learned as a guy in an independent band, that's

what gave me the tools to be able to make a movie.

This sort of D.I.Y. (do-it-yourself) spirit of punk and hardcore music, that's what

I lived, that was my whole life.

We were putting up our own posters, we were raising money to make albums and music videos,

running it like a small business so we could go on tour and sustain ourselves to continue

doing something that we loved and that is exactly how we made this movie and exactly

how we're approaching the roll out of distribution.

And when you think about it, those worlds (independent film and independent music) that

punk and hardcore do-it-yourself culture and spirit, they are very similar and that is

exactly the tools that we used to make CROWN AND ANCHOR.

What made the production of CROWN AND ANCHOR unique?

Matt Wells: Our first day on set of CROWN AND ANCHOR we shot 15 pages which was already

longer than any project our writer/director Andrew Rowe had worked on in the past which

sort of set the tone for the next 15 days of filming.

This was Andrew's first feature and we only had 15 days to make it happen.

But it created an urgency on set which absolutely you can see in the performances, you can see

in the direction.

There is something about being under the gun and knowing that you really don't have the

option to make a lot of mistakes or second-guess yourself and that's really what we did.

And the backstory of CROWN AND ANCHOR is that we had private investors and we had a strong

script, but it was long.

And everybody told us it was too long at our budget.

We didn't want to have to cut it because of budget.

Because we knew if we cut it at the script phase, it was going to cut the heart out of

the film.

And Andrew had a distinct vision for this movie about wanting to really focus on character

development which was going to mean a lot of long, one-take, no cut scenes.

And Michael and I we connected with that vision (we believed in it).

So we wanted the ability to cut in the editing room and not on the page.

So we knew we had to assemble a team who was amendable to that type of environment.

I mean essentially we had to find people who wanted a punk rock the heck out of this thing

and that's what we did.

We found an amazing cast, an amazing crew.

I mean the good thing about having a very strong script is that it allowed us to attract

very strong actors who had been in the business for a very long time and without that sort

of experience, never would we be able to make something like this.

This was a no-frills set.

There were no dressing rooms, no trailers, it was stripped down.

We had to have a team that were checking their egos at the door and were cool to work in

that sort of environment and just try to put all the money on the screen, which is what

we did.

Without this incredible cast and crew it never would have happened.

So that really, it influenced and it was a big part of the energy you see on screen.

But not just the environment of production but also the location.

You know our creative team are spread all over right now from Toronto to California,

but out home town is St. John's, Newfoundland (where I am right now) and there is something

really special about this place.

And if you have a project I highly, highly recommend you consider coming to make it here

not just because it has a growing and thriving film community.

Not just because it has an amazing crew here, really talented actors and not just because

it's beautiful but because there is an energy in this place, it's an island in the middle

of the North Atlantic Ocean.

We are geographically isolated, we are socially and culturally unique and it also informs

our movie.

And if you don't believe me how special it is here just see if you can ask Jason Momoa

I'm sure you can just call him.

The guy is here all the time filming.

It's not a rare occurrence to see him walking down the street going to grab a coffee, it's

a very special place.

And there is something about (not to get into too much of a history lesson on Newfoundland)

but our ancestors through the years having to live off the land and the brutal climate,

that sort of helped inform who we are.

And there is a dark, raw beauty to Newfoundland and there is a strong independence and you

see that in our film as much as you see it influenced from the words that were on the

script.

What were your biggest challenges?

Matt Wells: So our biggest challenges (I mean like most independent films) it's budgetary,

right?

We only had so much money and we had to work around that.

But honestly our biggest challenges on CROWN AND ANCHOR came later as we went to market

and they were all self-inflicted wounds.

Like I said everybody told us after reading the script that they really thought it was

strong but we should not make a movie (as first time filmmakers) that was running at

two hours, that maybe some of the scenes were too intense, maybe we shouldn't score it

with punk and hardcore music because that might alienate some audiences and that being

in such a beautiful part of the world we should focus on these exteriors and show more of

the landscape.

But we did the opposite, not because we are stubborn or we don't want to collaborate,

it's because those choices we felt were true to the characters and true to the story

and that's what we wanted to do, right?

So we made a movie that runs just under two hours, no A-list stars, all punk and hardcore

music but these are the things that have allowed us to get an international sales agent, these

are things that are allowing us to have a North American theatrical release as an independent

film and it was because it was authentic to the story and authentic to the characters.

And that's what we're doing, right?

As independent filmmakers what we're trying to do is chase the authentic stories.

And we knew all these choices were only going to help the film but again it was because

we knew who our audience was.

Knowing who your audience is is so important and you know I go back to this idea of the

do-it-yourself punk and hardcore spirit from that music world that inspired us so much

that we took it to the independent filmmaking process, the same way that we used that when

we were in a band, the same way we thought about DIY when we were in production is the

same way we're rolling out distribution.

You know as independent filmmakers we want to see our film in theaters, right?

But it's not always something that we have access to.

We didn't want to go straight to DVD, we didn't want to go straight to VOD or streaming,

so we've taken the same do-it-yourself spirit and we've partnered with independent movie

theaters across North America to do our own theatrical.

Every independent film journey is going to be different but this has been our's.

And it's because we stuck to our vision, it's because we knew our audience and we

were willing to do the work because we believed in what we were doing.

So I hope you come out to see us when our film hits your city.

You can check out our website [CrownandAnchorFilm.com] which is up on the screen here and you know

come out and talk to us.

We're going to do Q&A's in some of the cities afterward with myself, our writer/director

Andrew Rowe, our lead actor Michael Rowe (who is also a producer on this with me), we want

to talk to you guys and hear your questions and know what you're doing and tell you

about filming in Newfoundland.

So that it.

I hope you get to check out CROWN AND ANCHOR.

It's raining so I'm going to go inside.

Thanks for listening.

North Korea wants U.S. to make 'bold move' of establishing peace treaty: CNN - Duration: 1:41.

We Need To Make Disciples - Not Converts - Duration: 1:48.

That the Bible says that we do not fight or wrestle. (Wrestling is a biblical sport)

We do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces in the heavenly realms.

You want to know why our people are losing? They don't know how to wrestle. You want to know why they don't know how to

wrestle spiritually? Because they're not being discipled,

they're being converted and asked to come and watch.

We set up our churches with seventy percent or ninety percent of our energy getting a crowd to come and watch -

Instead of saying success is not in thousands watching - it's in

ten who can make disciples who can make disciples! And I want you to know that Jesus's methodology works!

They didn't have internet. They didn't have telephones. They didn't have Twitter

They didn't have any of that and within sixty years the whole world came to know about Jesus because Jesus made

disciples who could make disciples in

relationship and because leaders gave people what they needed not necessarily what they wanted and what was easy for them.

I believe Jesus's Church can be a winning Church, but it's gonna get back to defining things His way doing things His way.

I'm not against church services. We have them every weekend.

I'm just against church service ONLY, and if we don't move people out of these groups into

relationships with mature believers who are investing in people who can make disciples -

we're not gonna have kids who are raised to be able to withstand the pressure.

We're not gonna have people that that have a biblical worldview and can stand up as it gets rougher and rougher.

I know Jesus is going to return when they take wrestling out of the Olympics. Jesus is coming back soon
