Youtube daily life style Jul 27 2018

Ya, you read the title you know what this means.

And just like that, my journey into minimalism had begun.

After a quick run to Goodwill, I hopped on a flight to Kansas City with my

friend Mitchell. We were headed to a car dealership in a small town called

Hutchinson, a three and a half hour drive from Kansas City. Once there, I

would hopefully fulfill the Millennial YouTubers dream...and buy a van.

I couldn't just buy any normal van in Colorado, we had to make a trip to the

promised land of vans: Hutchinson Kansas. Somehow I roped Mitchell into flying

into Kansas City and then driving to Hutchinson to pick up the van and then

driving back to Kansas City to drop off the rental car. I see it! I see it way up

there somewhere! There she is. Love at first sight! So we

began with a thorough investigation of the most important parts of the vehicle.

We are on our inaugural test-drive

of the new van. Jake's new home. Do you really feel a connection? I do! I think

I found my soul mate. I think we're gonna be spending a lot of time together!

Welcome to Kansas.

Initial thoughts? Uh, stoked. I mean it handles like a pickup

truck which I'm happy with. I also have never driven a pickup truck so there's

that. Stop making false assumptions! Alright let's go talk business.

Well, it looks like I found my new home. After buying the van and spending some time in

Kansas City with our friend Sarah, it was time to make our way back home to Denver.

I still don't think I really know what I've gotten myself into. I don't really

know how I'll build this van into a home with so little experience, but just like

everything else in life, it's about the journey, not the destination.

Life changing Makeup Products / Techniques - Duration: 8:54.

good morning today we're gonna talk about makeup products and techniques

that have changed the makeup game for me the first thing is tightlining if you

don't know what that is that is basically just doing your upper

waterline and putting a black or dark kohl pencil or any kind of eye pencil in

between lashes this makes your eye your lashes just look so much more

voluminous right away without looking like you have too much makeup on so if

you don't feel like doing eyeliner or anything really but you want your lashes

to just look a little more voluminous at the base then this is a great technique

I love to do this for makeup looks where I'm just not really wearing anything and

not wearing any eyeshadow just to make my eyes pop a little more the next thing

is primer and to be more specific silicone-y primer I have a lot of acne

scarring and well maybe not a lot it's always relative you know to me it seems

like it's a lot I have very large pores and I just don't think it's very pretty

and before primer I'd always have the problem that every foundation that I used

just made it look so much worse because foundation it just makes texture worse

that's just how it is nothing has been invented yet where it makes it better or

it makes it super flawless at least not to my knowledge so when I first

discovered silicone-y primer I know it doesn't make a huge difference but it

does make a visible difference to me and I just feel so much more confident

knowing that I have my pores and my acne scars and little filled up and I'm just

forever thankful for primer for this using brushes and sponges is something

and that I didn't know until very late pretty much in my life I got into makeup

quite late so like my mid 20s or even late twenties is when I really really

got into it before I just always used you know that sponge applicator that

came with eyeshadows and my fingers to do all the rest I had no idea there were

brushes and sponges to do all these things with

and when I first discovered that this exists and I tried it out I was amazed

at how easy things can be because of course you can do all the things you do

with brushes and sponges with your fingers and sponge applicators but your

life is just that much more difficult with that I think it was in Mac where I

got my first like special-edition brush sets with sort... which are

notoriously bad from Mac actually the special edition brush sets because

they're not handmade and they're differently made than the brushes they

sell usually but I was so happy with these brushes and I was just fixed

right away and now I collect brushes like nothing else I love my brushes I

love having a brush for every single thing there is I love using brushes for

things they're not supposed to be used for I just it really changed the makeup

game for me the next thing is the discovery of not having to make my

eyebrows look like blocks or a thick line just to fill them in there is you

know techniques you can do with any kind of eyebrow product that makes your

eyebrow look a lot more natural than if you just draw a straight line and fill

it in like if you you know when we still used to do that like draw a straight

line here and draw a straight line here and just fill it out and if that's what

you want to do that's awesome it's just not really my thing

I like a very defined thick brow but I also like it to look somewhat natural

and this just completely changed my face when I put on makeup it just made my

space so much more soft and just a lot more natural than what I used to do

because I wear quite a lot of makeup and quite a lot of heavy foundation

especially so I do look like I have a mask on and with eyebrows that are that

thick and that defined it just adds to this whole idea of wearing a mask

another thing that completely changed the makeup game for me is color

correction with color correction I am able to use a lot less product than I

would not using color Corrections so I don't

have to use as much concealer or as much foundation to cover up my acne scarring

or the redness I have and this just again made my looks so much more natural

than having to pile on the products just so I can have like a normal looking skin

then we have highlighting and contouring highlighting and contouring I feel like

has not been around for that long and if you depending on how old you are you

might not actually know that yes it's been around for you know YouTube stars

and beauty gurus but before that kind of time it was pretty much only present in

the in the drag community so when this got popular I was so excited because

this meant I could change the whole structure of my or another person's face

just for using dark grayish kind of colors and a highlight color this was

incredible to me I had no idea that this was possible I had no idea that you're

not supposed to just have a blank canvas with like two colorful dots as blush and

that's how I used to do it and that's you know how I wore my makeup for a

really long time but when I learned how to do natural contouring it just really

it gave me more confidence because I feel like it doesn't does adjust my

flaws that I see as flaws a little bit in my face and with that I just have

more of a presence and I'm just happier with myself

and that's the thing about makeup you know a lot of people say oh you

shouldn't mask yourself and you should love yourself no matter what and while

that is true makeup can really aid in that there was a time in my life where I

had really bad cystic acne and on top of that I have a borderline personality

disorder and I really could not leave my house anymore because I was so ashamed

and I felt so ugly and the only way I could leave my house was was by putting

makeup on and feeling a little better that way I mean in retrospect you know I

look terrible because I put so much foundation and concealer on and it just

made everything look a lot worse but the point is it made me feel better and it

helped me in that moment then I learned that eyeliner doesn't necessarily always

have to be a huge wing that you know and it's very very thick on your eyes it's

because I have a slightly hooded eye you can still see part of my movable lid but

it is start you know the older I get the more hooded my eye is getting so I

realized you don't always have to do a wing or you could do a different wing or

you could point it straight or you could point it up and it doesn't really matter

you can always try what looks best on your eye you don't always have to follow

one thing that a lot of people are doing because they might just be doing it

because other people are doing it just experiment and do what you're happy with

and the last thing is learning that you should let things set before you apply

another layer so for example moisturizer I put on moisturizer I wait 10 minutes I

have a coffee I have breakfast and then I continue I put primer on I let that

sit for a few minutes then I put foundation on I also let that sit for a

few minutes or usually I put foundation on and then I like comb through my brows

and lashes and stuff like that before I put another layer of foundation on where

I basically you know intensify where I still need some more coverage this way

your skin has time to react with the product and really melt together with

the product because if you're just putting a layer after layer after layer

without letting this product set they just all kind of mix together and you're

not having a desirable result anymore so this was a game changer for me because

products were now doing what they're supposed to do and they weren't just

mixing with one another they were actually aiding in the process of

putting on makeup I know crazy so these were the things that were game changers

for me in the makeup game do you have any of these experiences that really

changed things up for you let me know in the comments down below I hope that you

like this video if you did you can always leave me a thumbs up you can

subscribe right here and you can hit that notification bell if you want to

you don't have to do any of those things but if you want I'd really appreciate it

I make new videos every Monday Tuesday Thursday

and sometimes I have bonus videos so I really hope I'll see you next video bye

bye

MEGHAN TRAINOR | Draw My Life - Duration: 3:22.

Megan Elisabeth Trainor was born in Massachusetts on December 22nd 1993, surrounded by music.

Her father, Gary Trainor, was a music teacher for almost 20 years.

Her aunts are soca Music song writers (a mixture between calypso, funk and soul).

Her great aunt on her mothers side was a member of a famous rock band… not bad, huh?

She grew up with her brothers Ryan and Justin, and since she was a kid she always showed

interest in music.

When she was 6, she started singing at church with her dad, and by the time she was 11,

she was already writing her first songs.

At the age of 12, she performed with a family band.

She played several instruments and also performed on her own.

When she was 13, she started taking guitar classes at school.

Her parents gave her a macbook so she could make arrangements to the songs herself.

Between the age of 15 and 17, Meghan released 3 albums that she wrote and produced all alone,

and got several awards with them.

Until, in 2012, she released a song with a record label.. however… behind the scenes.

Meghan became the song writer of famous artists and, in 2013 traveling to help out, also,

with the production of the songs.

A year later, Kevin Kadish (kéidish) set an eye on her, as an artist this time.

However, recording in Los Angeles, all the travelling and the stay itself was something

Meghan couldnt afford, so she went back to Nashville to keep writing songs for others,

tho she kept working with Kadish.

It was during one of those sessions when Kevin showed the title "all about about that bass"

for hee to write something, and Meghan, without thinking twice, decided to write about her

size, the love for her body and all the insecurities and problems it had caused he at the gates

of the show business.

Beyonce, Adele, and other artists that saw the lyrics, were not interested in performing

it, so Trainor and Kadish kept showing the demo to different record labels.

Until Epic Records appeared and fell in love with her.

Yes.

Not only did they love the demo..

Also Trainor!

So she had to be the singer herself!

Everything else is already known and out there: Trainor got both critics and compliments related

to the content in her songs, but awards for her music skills also started appearing, including

a Grammy awards as Best New Artist.

Her second album Thank You was released in 2016 and the single NO became a total success.

Megan has already finished her third studio album, Treat Myself, and it will be released

in August 31st.

In February of this year 2018, she released No Excuses, as the first single.

Despite her short commercial career, Meghan Trainor has earned the respect of the music

industry, as well as the love from

the public!

THE BEST SERVICE DOG INTERACTION I'VE EVER HAD AT A RESTAURANT (7.25.18) - Duration: 12:53.

I was literally in shock because

nobody has ever

asked so well.

♬ Don't you think we're better together ♬

♬ Oh Honey ♬

♬ I think we are ♬

[both] Good morning!

We're at the dentist. Obvi.

We were just talking, it's really rainy out today and we all three like, I looked over him and he was like, ugh!

[Peter] Getting sleepy.

But all three of us feel like, ugh.

Yesterday we ended the vlog in clinic and then we went out and just enjoyed the city.

Like, we watched the sunset off a rooftop,

we ate two amazing meals. He said

girl, I've never seen you eat so much!

I was like, yes!

[Peter] It was so fun.

I think we were just like...

we put the health decisions on pause until we got home,

and we just had a date and we just had an amazing time.

And it was so like

we were out by this seaport like the water's edge. And so that humidity wasn't...like the,

it wasn't as humid.

[Peter] There was a cool breeze coming off the-

Cool breeze, cool breeze.

[Peter] Cool breeze.

And...

[Peter] It was just a really good day. But we're all a little tired today.

And it's rainy and so humid and...

nasty and all three of us are just like ugh!

But it was so worth it and...

I'm just like...

Well, I also felt kind of like...

that huge drop in my lung function ain't gonna stop me.

I walked around the city crazy and...

I was just like...I got this!

Woah!

All righty.

We are done at the dentist and everything is good.

Check check check. And...

I feel like...

so...

overdone.

Like...

Yesterday was so much.

It was so much-

We did a lot, and we knew we were doing a lot.

Oh, yeah, like we knew it and we were like...

Okay. So, what?

I just, I think we have a few stories from yesterday to tell.

Oh, yeah, we do!

Should we wait till we get home?

Sure.

Okay, we'll see you when we get home.

All right, you guys we are home now and I...

completely crashed and...

Ay-ay-ay.

Yeah.

I am...

Wowzer.

I'm feeling it, man.

Yeah.

I think we're...we're also trying to get stuff done

before Mary goes in the hospital.

So we've been packing up orders from the online store and like,

I've been working on cleaning up the house a little bit.

[Peter] Ollie, you are just, you love a good scratch on your chin, don't you?

That is funny.

Okay, so story. You should tell the story cuz I feel like I'm running out of breath.

Okay, well...

like Mary said, we had an amazing date in the city yesterday and we did

several fun things and one was we went to this

rooftop restaurant and uh...

we kind of saw the sunset and it was just a beautiful look out over Boston Harbor and...

While we were up there one of the managers or a guy came up to us, we didn't know at the time

he was a manager and he said I see that you have a service dog and

sometimes we have people who come here and

abuse the service dog thing and I was hoping that you could educate

me about service dogs.

I was literally in shock because

nobody has ever

asked so well.

Yeah.

Typically people don't know how to approach somebody with a service dog.

So typically what the person says is actually...

Comes across like ignorant or...

Uh...

Even rude.

Yeah, yeah.

Offensive.

And uh...

We were just taken back by the way he approached it and we were like...

I literally

was like...

I put my hand out and shook his hand and I was like,

thank you so much for how you just asked that question.

Yeah.

I think I probably could have cried.

I think what often happens is people have a negative view of service dogs because of people that abuse service dog

laws and public access and they just get a vest and take any old dogs

into places where pets shouldn't go and...

So.

Yeah.

For someone to come up and respect Mary's service dog and ask

hey, could you educate me and that was just, um...

It was just such a refresh- we stood and talked to him for like 20 minutes and...

Um...

It was...

It was really cool.

It was so great. So we talked about you know, by law...

you know, what...what's allowed, what's not allowed.

He mentioned that he recognized that there was a dog that was not behaving like a service dog-

[coughing]

And we talked about what rights he has in terms of like...

[Mary coughing]

Asking a dog that's unruly to leave and that sort of thing and

what questions he can ask and all that and so it was just a really good conversation.

We were like, let's tell that story because...

maybe you're somebody who works in...

whether you are in management of a business or you just work at a business,

I think that's a great question to ask a service dog handler and a great way to learn is to ask questions like that.

Oh, it was just so great.

So that was...

[coughing]

That was a lot of fun.

We also recommended...

I was like, I'm not sure if you...

know, or if you have any control over this, but I said there, on your website of your company

when it talks about the restaurant, it says no pets allowed

and then it addresses service dogs, and they said

just be sure you have your paperwork with you.

So I addressed that with him because in the U.S. there is no official paperwork.

So...but people can go online and buy

like fake paperwork or whatever, you know where I'm going with this.

Basically I said I would just encourage whoever writes the website to research

the service dog laws so that you have the correct terminology, like...

You know, service animals are allowed...

But take away the, but you know, like...

But I hope like, what was encouraging to me after that

he was like, I'm gonna send an email to somebody and like, this is like a big hotel in Boston, like...

established, popular and like maybe that simple conversation that he had like respectfully with us could...

change how something's worded on their website to avoid, you know, future problems or whatever.

Like, I just was so encouraged by that.

Oh, and he was just...he was so...

respectful.

And like...

I just, I think that's so cool. The fact that he said...

I was wondering if you could educate me.

Oh...

Yes!

We were just really grateful for that. So Tony, thanks for being awesome.

I walked around the city like crazy and I didn't really think about my lungs because I think...

You know...

being at clinic we saw my numbers and we were like, oh that explains a lot.

That explains why I haven't been feeling well, so

my brain and my body were like validated. They were like, that's why you don't feel good.

So I was able to just like be like

whatever. I'm just gonna feel however I'm gonna feel and I'm just gonna enjoy my day

and I guess it was just like, it also felt like...

overcoming that in a way because I was like, ain't no lung function gonna stop me.

Although today, it feels like it's stopping me. Um...

But just for that moment I was able to just...

Yeah, we embraced the day and...

Ah, it was so fun!

It was.

So fun!

We had a really fun day.

We walked along the water. Um...

Like 30 feet in the air though.

Yeah, it was very high up.

But-

It was like the sidewalk along the harbor, I guess.

Whatever, it was beautiful.

We...

We had some good meals.

Oh, we went to the Capital One...

cafe.

So...

a dozen years ago...

in, no, 11 years ago. 11 years ago in Chicago,

there was an ING Bank and it had a cafe and Peter's like Mary,

I've got to take you here. They do breakfast sandwiches and it comes out of a drawer.

I don't know if the drawer part was...

I probably just noticed that and we went and had breakfast sandwiches and it was amazing and um...

Well, Capital One bought ING. Here we are, you know, years later. We

came upon a Capital One Bank and

went inside and they had coffee on tap.

So it was like...

Nitro cold brew.

It was amazing and we've never tried it cuz it's so expensive but we got half price because we bank with them.

It was...

incredible!

She really liked that coffee.

Well, I liked sitting there and I liked remembering college.

It did bring back college memories of little college dates in the city and...

And I drank it black.

Yeah.

Which I don't.

Yeah.

I don't know why but Ollie feels the need to bring all his toys out right now.

[Peter] Yeah, are you feeling, are you feeling playful? You brought your duck or your skunk out here?

[Mary] The headless skunk.

[Peter chuckles]

[Peter] We've got a headless skunk and a tailless duck.

Ah...a what?

Tailless duck.

And a wingless duck.

I guess, yeah. He's missing all his, all those parts.

But aren't we all kind of gimpy ducks around here?

[laughter]

Anyways, we've got Bible study here tonight. It'll be good to spend some time with friends and...

Here, do you want one of those? I can give you one. Bring it over here.

[Peter] Ollie's bringing his treats.

We are going to...

[chuckling]

[Peter] Enjoy the evening together and

we haven't heard back from

Mary's doctor yet about...

details, so we're still in the waiting game of...

her team trying to coordinate sinus surgery and IVs and all that so we'll keep you updated.

Yeah. I'm, I'm thinking...

I don't know.

I guess I feel more clarity about it because yesterday before the appointment

I was just like, I don't know. Maybe...

Maybe now is not the right time and I was just feeling really like foggy about it.

Like, I just didn't know.

Like, we didn't know...

how to make that decision

based on what and now...

And those numbers were after two weeks of oral antibiotics.

Yeah.

So we're, I mean, it was just very confirming that-

Yeah.

And clear.

It brought clarity.

To what the treatment plan is so now we just wait until everything's ready for that plan.

And we'll bring you along but...

[both] As always, we will see you tomorrow. Good night!

[Peter] You wanna say good night, buddy?

[Mary talking as Ollie] I'm going to have another treat.

[Peter] Goodnight Ollie boy. Do you love treats?

[Mary] Do you love treats so much? Oh, that's so good.

Is There Treasure On Oak Island? - Duration: 4:34.

Hello and welcome back to Life's Biggest Questions, I'm Ron McKenzie-Lefurgey.

For years, tales have abounded of a location on Oak Island, off the coast of Nova Scotia,

Canada, that contains a giant hole that's supposedly full of buried treasure.

This hole, nicknamed the Money Pit, has been the subject of countless excavations, where

treasure hunters hoped to find their fortune buried beneath the Earth.

But IS there a money pit on this island, or is this big hole just a big joke?

Let's explore.

If you want more videos like this, check out our "Biggest Debated Topics" playlist

on the channel.

Now get ready, it's time to ask the question: Is There a Money Pit on Oak Island?

The search for the Money Pit has been rather extensive, with millions being spent on a

number of excavations, ever since it was discovered in 1795.

It was found when three teenaged boys were exploring Oak Island.

They began digging in a spot where the ground was sagging, and found a 30 foot deep hole,

seemingly man-made due to the wooden platforms found within.

Years later, they returned with a funded expedition to search it in more detail.

The continued search over the years has resulted in the death of 6 treasure hunters, and the

only real findings have been things left behind by previous hunters.

However, this lack of findings doesn't stop people from theorizing as to what could be

buried deep beneath the ground on Oak Island.

One theory states that the pit contains the crown jewels of France, which went missing

in 1791, and were taken to Louisburg, just north of Oak Island.

This states that the jewels were taken to Oak Island for safekeeping, since the British

often attacked Louisberg.

Another theory claims that it actually contains the original works of Shakespeare, buried

by Sir Francis Bacon in the 16th century.

However, this is based on a piece of parchment paper retrieved from the pit, which is far

from conclusive evidence.

The most widely accepted theory is that it was the hiding spot for Captain Kidd, the

infamous pirate from the early 18th century.

Many believe that he frequented Oak Island when looking to relax and repair his ships.

It's believed that he may have built the money pit, and even the complicated system of flood

tunnels, in order to protect his booty.

Yarr.

It could even be that this was all just a hoax, done for fun, or in order to draw people

to the island.

Considering nothing of great importance has been found down there after years of study,

and with today's technology, many believe that it probably doesn't contain the treasure

of legend.

However, the incredible effort made to construct the pit does seem to point to there being

something valuable hidden within.

And it could be that explorers simply haven't made it past what is largely considered a

booby trap.

This booby trap is in the form of "Flood Tunnels", which supposedly connect the tunnel

to the beaches, flooding the hole with seawater when explorers attempt to dig further.

These have been the bane of many an expedition, with most hunters claiming to have dug to

a certain depth, only to be forced to stop when ocean water filled the hole from several

directions.

This is believed by some to be the reason no treasure has been found.

It's assumed by many that the sudden rush of water is due to these flood tunnels, and

their existence is a significant part of why people continue to believe there may be treasure

there.

There's no reason for them to have been constructed were it not to protect something

valuable.

The only problem with this is that these flood tunnels have yet to actually be seen, but

rather are assumed to be there.

If we haven't been able to find them or even work around them with today's technology,

how were they built and utilized by people in the 1700s or earlier?

This leads some to argue that these flood tunnels aren't booby traps at all, but rather

natural fissures in the bedrock that allow water to flow through.

And this does make sense, particularly given our inability to find the tunnels.

If the flood tunnels did turn out to be natural, it would remove perhaps the most significant

piece of evidence in favour of money in the pit.

It should be mentioned that there were 5 box drains found under the beach at Smiths Cove

on the East side of the island, found by the Truro Syndicate around 1850.

Many believers point to this as evidence of a flood tunnel, claiming them to be feeders

for the flood tunnel, pumping water into the pit; but this is not conclusive evidence.

The use of these box drains is not known for certain, as there are any number of uses for

them.

Many believe it's more likely that they were used to extract salt form the sea water.

And now we return to our question: Is There a Money Pit on Oak Island?

As usual with questions like this, we don't know for sure.

Given the extent of the excavations over the years, and the complete lack of findings,

it does seem likely that there is no treasure there.

It's possible that there is and it simply hasn't been found yet due to flood tunnels,

or even that there was once treasure but it has since been recovered.

But as of now, that sounds a lot like wishful thinking.

Then again, maybe I'm just saying that so I can have all the treasure to myself!

It will be mine!

Rheumatoid Arthritis - Lifestyle Options | Johns Hopkins - Duration: 6:35.

(gentle music)

- I tell my patients diet is not

the cure for rheumatoid arthritis.

If you go online and you say how can I can cure RA?

And you might find, you know, tons of information

on do this with your diet or do that with your diet,

and your RA will disappear or get better,

I always caution them that these are not

scientifically well done studies or data

that his been proven conclusively.

Having said that, diet is a key part of our health,

whether you have rheumatoid arthritis

or whether you do not have rheumatoid arthritis,

do what's common sense in terms

of what is healthy diet, right?

And you hear about about it,

lots of fruits, vegetables and grains.

Lots of vegetables with lots of colors.

Fruits of different colors.

And why is that important?

Because they provide you with a whole range

of nutrition from anti-oxidants

to very important minerals and vitamins.

I also tell my patients to stay away

from processed foods, colas that have

a lot of empty calories in it,

that water is the best form of hydration,

and cooking in a way where you're reducing

your calories is very important.

Calories and your weight can become

important in rheumatoid arthritis

because if you put on weight,

it may be harder for you to move.

If you have knees and hips and ankles

where there may be stiffness and pain and swelling,

then you add to that extra weight,

and it just becomes that much more difficult to move.

I often hear from my patients that, you know,

one of my friends is getting rid of gluten from the diet,

and the rheumatoid arthritis has gone away,

or my other friend has eliminated meat from the diet

or eggs or dairy from the diet.

In that case, I always tell my patients

that I'm not able to really assess

what's going on in their acquaintance's life,

but for my own patients, if they notice a pattern

that if they cut down on gluten

or wheat or dairy, then I think

it is important to know about it

because some people have food allergies and sensitivities.

So if you come to my clinic and you tell me

that every time I have a glass of milk,

my rheumatoid arthritis flares,

then I have a chance to actually work on that

in a more scientific manner

and try and understand if my patient

has an underlying food allergy.

So I think if there is consistent pattern

that you are recognizing as a patient,

it's important for you to sit down

with your rheumatologist and have a discussion about it.

But, overall, I would avoid elimination diets.

They can be severe.

They have not been evaluated

scientifically in a rigorous manner,

and I think it's best avoided at this point,

and our focus should be a healthy diet

where you're eating plenty of fruits, vegetables, grains,

and you're staying away from

calorie dense, fatty and processed foods.

(dramatic music)

Another very important component of living healthy

is making sure that you get enough exercise in your day.

Exercise can also mean movement, so keep moving.

And in patients with arthritis,

this becomes especially important.

It's important because, when they exercise

and when they move, they're actually

making their joints stronger.

They're making their muscles

around their joints also stronger,

and they are making their joints

go through a range of motion so that they

are exercising their joints in effective manner.

(dramatic music)

My answer to that always is you need to listen to your body.

If you're in a flare where you have multiple swollen joints,

I do not think that's a good time

for you to be on a treadmill or be in a gym.

You should be listening to your body

and our focus should be in getting rid of that flare.

And once the flare has resolved and the pain has resolved,

you can definitely step back into your exercise regimen.

The other question people often

ask is I want to to exercise,

but when I start exercising, the next day I pay for it

because I hurt so much, either my knees

or my hips or my ankles hurt.

In those instances, I would tell my patients

that you probably need small doses of exercises

that you should gradually build up on.

So don't go out there the first day

and walk for 20 minutes if you're not used to that.

Maybe step out of your house

and walk for five minutes or seven minutes.

The first week, just walk for

five minutes just maybe in your yard.

The second week, maybe, say, I can try 10 minutes

and so gradually increase that

and you will see that your body will slowly feel stronger,

and your joints will not be hurting after exercising.

You may also ask me, there's so many

different forms of exercises, right?

There's cardio, and there's weight training,

and there's stretching, what should I do

if I have rheumatoid arthritis?

And my answer to that would be all of the above,

as long as, again, you're doing it safely,

you're not hurting yourself while exercising.

Stretching is wonderful for patients with arthritis.

It helps you preserve your range of motion,

and the muscles, keeps the muscles

around your joints limber.

5 Hidden Toxins that you MUST Remove From Your Life to Lose Weight and Have Abundant Energy! - Duration: 25:12.

Hello again, I apologize the last livestream that I did I had some

technical issues for some reason I just got booted off it's kind of in the air

today. I've had some technical issues all day today so I apologize for that.

So I'm starting this new video and hope everything goes well and hopefully I can

get this information to you without something crashing again. Okay,

so if this is your first time joining me my name is Kendra Perry. I'm a functional

diagnostic nutritionist and my specialty is gut house hormones toxins and detox

and especially I love talking about toxins and detox, because this is

incredibly important it's something that every single one of us really needs to

be thinking about okay. And a lot of times when our health is crappy, when we

have poor energy, when we have you know, we're gaining weight we can't lose it no

matter what, we're hyper focused on our diet,

we're hyper focused on our exercise routine, but few of us are actually

focusing on the toxins, and you might be wondering well what the heck do toxins

have to do with my energy, what do they have to do with weight gain? And I mean

the truth is they have so much to do with it so a lot of toxins especially

different chemicals that are in our environment and metals they actually

interfere with the function of your mitochondria. So maybe you can remember

from high school biology but the mitochondria is actually that little

powerhouse in your cell and one of its primary jobs is producing ATP and that

is your body's main energy molecule. So every time you need energy your body has

to make ATP but if you have a bunch of toxins that are interfering with your

mitochondria is ability to make that ATP you're gonna be

really fatigued, you're gonna be really f**king tired. You're gonna feel like

you're super glued to the floor, you're gonna wake up exhausted even when you

had a great sleep, you're gonna sort of drag your ass throughout the day, you're

probably gonna have to drink lots of coffee to get that sort of artificial

energy, you might crash throughout the day, like you're just really really gonna

struggle with your energy and no amount of good diet no amount of exercise is

actually going to fix that. So we really need to be thinking about this because

unfortunately, well it's kind of messed up right, like

we have so many chemicals and toxins in our environment and we are always

getting exposed and if you tuned in to my live videos you probably think I'm a

broken record because I'm always saying this but it's really really true. We're

constantly getting exposed, so we really need to work our hardest to remove a lot

of these things from our environment as much as possible of course it's not a

hundred percent possible regardless like we're gonna get exposed to some degree

right but there's a lot we can do. So I'm going to tell you about five hidden ones

that not everyone thinks about that can really wreak havoc on your energy levels

but also weight loss. Okay and this is really really important. Typically toxins

get stored in fat cells. Okay, so if your body is getting a really constant influx

of chemicals of toxins, it has to go somewhere so if they're coming in too

quickly like maybe faster than your detox pathways can deal with or maybe

you don't have the good mineral level so you don't have the hormone balance or

something's going on where you don't detoxify very well which is very common

for a lot of us, your body has to put these somewhere if your body can't deal

with them they need to go somewhere and thankfully fat cells are as nice sticky

membrane that you can stick a toxin into and it's not gonna have a really nasty

effect on the rest of the body okay. So this is obviously problematic for weight

loss because if your body is totally toxic, so your fat cells are filled with

toxins, your body might be like uh-uh like you ain't losing weight because I

can't deal with all these toxins right like if you were to immobilize that fat

or burn that fat you're gonna immobilize all these toxins and then they're gonna

enter the bloodstream and your detox pathways need to be ready to deal with

that. So a lot of what's going on with us and this is really important to think

about is actually our body protecting us. So, I think when we're unhealthy or we

don't feel well, we have poor energy, we can't lose weight, or we have brain fog,

and insomnia, like whatever it is we can feel really frustrated and sometimes we

can even feel angry at our bodies. But I think what we need to realize is our

body is doing the best that it can with the tools that

it has. And a lot of them really like nasty symptoms that we're experiencing

are actually our body protecting us in some way and that's really true for the

fat cells being filled with toxins and not being able to lose weight it's your

body being like "I don't want you to die like, I don't want to do immobilize these

toxins and go completely ototoxic so you're not gonna lose weight" and so

you're frustrated at your body because it can't lose weight but really your

body is just like "hey like stop putting this crap in my body and maybe I'll let

you lose weight" okay. So, we're gonna talk today about some of the toxins that lead

to that you know mitochondrial inhibition which prevent the

mitochondria from making energy and we're gonna talk about some of those

toxins that are classified as obesogens which are have actually been

scientifically proven to make you gain weight. So you know I've heard some

people say it's the chemicals not the calories it's these obesogens that

are actually making us gain weight. So we're gonna talk about a few of those

today some of them may surprise you some of them you may have heard me talk about

before but if you're on with me live feel free to say hi and let me know if

you have any questions as we go along and more than happy to answer them.

Okay, so the first one the first toxin I really want to talk about cuz this is

actually a really common ingredient that a lot of us cook with but it's actually

baking soda and you might be wondering well we know what the heck how is baking

soda a toxin? So it's not necessarily the baking soda but it's what is added to

baking soda. So if you're making soda if you're me to buy baking soda because you

love to bake and I do you really need to look at the ingredients and you really

need to check to see what's in it okay. The reason for this is because a lot of

baking soda has an anti-caking agent just so it doesn't get all stuck

together and that is generally aluminium. Okay aluminium, what's aluminium? It's a

super toxic metal it's one of the primary metals that causes fatigue. A lot

of people don't know that that it actually, so there's certain enzymes in

the mitochondria that your body uses to make energy and it needs these enzymes

and might be minerals these might be

vitamins these might be various other proteins it actually poisons those

enzymes. Aluminium is super associated with fatigue and it's definitely one of

those obesogens that can lead you to gain weight and commonly, I mean it's in

a lot of different things, but a really common source of it is baking soda. So if

you're just going to the grocery store and buying random baking soda there's a

good chance that it's full of aluminium and the baking soda, how the baking soda

and the aluminium react is the baking soda that alkaline environment actually

makes the aluminium significantly more potent and way more absorbable by your

body, okay. So that's number one, is baking soda, you may not have heard about

that before, you may totally know what I'm talking about but my recommendation

is when you're buying baking soda to cook with, make sure to buy a good source,

buy organic, and make sure there's zero fillers. There shouldn't be anything,

because it won't say directly on the label that it's aluminium. It may call it

something totally different that actually has an aluminium base or is

derived from aluminium or has aluminium in it but it has some totally other random

name that you look at you're like "oh that's fine there's no aluminium on that"

but there's a good chance if there's any additive if there's anything but baking

soda, in your baking soda, then there's a good chance that there's aluminium in it.

Okay. So the next one I want to talk about is nail polish, okay, and I think

this is really interesting because I think most women are painting their

nails. And I actually want to talk about a study that I just read about. So,

what is in typical nail polish is triphenyl phosphate, okay.

And so this is a really powerful toxin, this is an obesogen, this is an

endocrine disruptor, when I say endocrine disruptor I mean it f**ks with your

endocrine system, okay. And what is your endocrine system,

it's your hormone system. And a big way that these chemicals actually interfere

is for some reason a lot of the chemicals that we make mimic human

estrogen, okay. Estrogen, potent growth hormone, great

when you have it in certain amounts, but when it's out of balance, it causes so

much stuff, like it can give you different

of cancer, it can cause endometriosis, it can cause PCOS, it can cause fibroids, it

can cause cysts, it can cause infertility, PMS, emotional meltdowns. They can

cause so many things, they can cause acne. And a lot of the chemicals we are

getting exposed to, contain these synthetic estrogens. And so, there was a

study done recently where researchers went and bought nail polish from a

common department store, and they assigned, they had a control group so a

group that wasn't getting nail polish and a group that was using nail polish.

And before they gave the woman these nail polish they did a urine sample

to establish like a base a baseline for the triphenyl phosphate so they had a

baseline of the triphenyl phosphate which is that chemical that is in nail

polish and then the next day each woman just painted her nails and after 10 to

14 hours after of painting their nails they redid that urine test and what they

found was that the triphenyl phosphate levels were seven times what they were

ten to 14 hours earlier before they put the nail polish on okay. So how is that

nail polish getting into our body? Well it might be absorbing through our skin

right because we don't always paint our nails perfectly right sometimes we miss

it gets on our skin but in a lot of way that it's actually getting into our

bodies is because we're inhaling it because it vaporizes. Most nail polish

smells like crap right it smells super chemical. And this is really common, I

mean most woman I see have painted nails and I'd say there's probably a pretty

good chance they're not buying that you know organic or non-toxic nail polish.

And so I have some some of the top top brands that were found to be really high

in the triphenyl phosphate are Sally Hansen, Revlon, OPI, wet-and-wild, which is

one that I used to use when I was a kid Maybelline and spa ritual so maybe you

use those brands on your body let me know if you do if you do I really

recommend that you switch to a known toxic brand okay. You might be wondering

about well you know what is non-toxic, which products are safe? A really good

resource is the Environmental Working Group so ewg.org they have a crazy

database they pretty much have a database for pretty much all products

and you can search for your product in the search box and it'll come up with

that product and it'll tell you about all the ingredients and what they are

associated with and then it will give it an overall rating of whether it's safe

and for a lot of products they actually have a top 10 list. Top 10 of their

safest best products. So nail polish is a big one and I think a lot of women are

using it and a lot of women are just buying whatever they get from the store

but this is actually a massive massive endocrine disruptor, it's a flame

retardant. So very toxic some of it has formaldehyde in it and that triphenyl

phosphate is huge, studies have shown it affects hormones, metabolism,

reproduction development, it's massive and it's just as simple as switching out

your nail polish brand okay. This is a big one okay. So that's number two, so

number one, if you're just joining now was baking soda because it tends to have

a non caking agent in it, which is usually made from aluminum. Number two,

nail polish. Number three is polyethylene. This is another one of

those obesogens, so one of those chemicals that has been scientifically

proven to cause insulin issues, can cause metabolic issues and ultimately

weight gain. Polyethylene is in a lot of things but a really common thing that

polyethylene is in is to-go cups! So those little Dixie cups, so when you go

get a coffee or tea to go, there you know typically they're paper but what they're

lined with is this plastic coating that's what prevents the liquid from

soaking through the cardboard and that is lined with polyethylene and

polyethylene is also an endocrine disrupter. So this is the same as the

triphenyl phosphate the same as the nail-polish it mimics human estrogen.

Estrogen issues are so massive, most of the woman I work with have estrogen

issues that either have too much estrogen or they have way more estrogen

than progesterone and I mentioned earlier some of those side effects of

too much estrogen are really nasty. It will totally prevent you from gaining

weight, it'll cause ovarian cysts, endometriosis, fibroids, it

can it's typically causing all those km symptoms so any of those symptoms that

you get in the week leading up to your period or for the time during your

period so craps, mood swings, low immune system, sugar cravings, retention, sore

breasts, all those things, are very much estrogen driven and we are a very

estrogen dominant society because so many of these chemicals have these

endocrine disruptors in them and when you're putting hot liquid in a to-go cup

that is lined with plastic you are literally drinking plastic and you're

drinking synthetic estrogen, so when you get a coffee to go you need to bring

your own mug and it shouldn't be a plastic mug because that's probably

gonna have other crap in it as well. I would say really high-quality stainless

steel or glass, those are your two best options for to

go coffee mugs and then on top of that I mean it's really good for the

environment too right there's just been so much press lately on all the crap

that's in the ocean I mean these single-use plastics, these single-use

cardboards, or whatever it is even if we can recycle them this is still putting

crap into our environment right, so, if we can be more on top of it

you can be a little bit more organized and come prepared with your to-go cup

and stainless steel of glass then we can go a long way to actually not only help

our hormones that help the environment as well. So that's number three. So number

one was baking soda because of the aluminum content, number two is nail

polish which contains endocrine disruptors and number three is

polyethylene which you typically find in to-go cups but you also find it in other

things as well. Okay, next I want to talk about

something that maybe isn't like a toxin but it is toxic okay and this one I

think is a really big thing so being busy okay so I know this isn't like you

know a toxin but this is toxic okay and I was just doing a live interview

earlier with a colleague of mine and we were just talking about the gut-brain

connection okay. So stress has a massive effect on our digestive system it also

has a massive effect on our minerals. Anytime we're stressed sodium goes up

and as sodium goes up it actually depletes our calcium and magnesium

significantly okay. And you know I think it sounds kind of hokey and people are

like "oh you know like that's kind of woo woo" or whatever but you know I can prove

that gut-brain connection to you because think of how you felt when you had to

give a speech or talk in front of a big audience right or maybe you were running

a race or something like that right like we feel it in our gut. Like I know when I

was young and I had to do speeches for school,

I remember like doing a speech and then basically having diarrhea because it

would affect my guts so much. And a lot of us we feel that immediately like when

we see you know maybe we run into an ex-boyfriend or girlfriend or we

see someone who may be bullied us or you know we have like an

uncomfortable conversation or we go through confrontation, a lot of times we

feel it directly in our gut. And being busy has become a massive toxic burden

in our society because it's completely glorified right like I find like

sometimes I ask people like how are you and they're just like "busy. Oh I'm so

busy" you know and it's kind of like I'm kind of sick of hearing that because

it's like okay well how are you, how do you feel today, how's your heart, like

how's your brain, like how's your family, how you know how's your life right? And a

lot of people are just busy and they over schedule their lives and they're

even addicted to feeling busy because I think with some people when they slow

down they have to actually deal with their thoughts and their problems so I

think a lot of us like we over schedule our lives and we are very obsessed with

being busy but this is a massive toxic burden. Okay, if we are constantly in

fight-or-flight if we're constantly in sympathetic dominance we are burning our

magnesium at an excessive rate and magnesium is one of your primary

minerals it's responsible for over 300 different reactions in the body without

magnesium it's really impossible to have energy. We talked in the beginning of

this about the mitochondria producing ATP for energy, anytime you make ATP you

need magnesium, so if you don't have ATP you're not gonna have energy, and I think

stress and over-scheduling their lives and being busy is huge right? And I mean

we're all guilty of it I'm - yeah - like sometimes I remember like

in the spring we were having this really beautiful weather it wasn't too hot it

wasn't too cold, I was feeling really great so I was planning like climbing

adventures and biking and I was climbing biking, hiking, walking, like going up for

dinner with friends and I literally didn't take a moment for myself for like

three weeks and then I crashed and burned. And it was just a really good

reminder that like "hey" like as fun as it is to be busy and to do all these things

and to you know be involved in things like it has a really it's really really

hard on your body. And when your body is in that chronic fight-or-flight it does

suppress that rest and digest function right? It takes all our energy out of the

gut, out of detoxification and it puts it into the muscle or the skeletal system

and basically it's preparing us to fight for our lives or run for a lives but in

reality like our life is not in jeopardy like we're just stressed out because

we've you know we have a million functions to go to or our kids are in a

million activities and you know we're also trying to do our masters and you

know work a regular job and then take care of kids and then you know pursue

our hobbies right? Like I think, it's there's a lot to be said for just

slowing down and chillin the f**k out okay so that's number four being busy. I

actually consider that a pretty major toxin. Okay, number five so this is the

final one and if you guys have questions I see there's a bunch of you with me

live so I'm really excited you guys are here with me feel free to say hi or if

you have questions just shoot me a comment.

The other one is hydrogenated oils or polyunsaturated oils okay, and I have

actually talked about this in a while but I just want to kind of remind the

new people that we really need to be careful about our fat consumption and so

a lot of the information that we've been getting for probably the past thirty

years is that saturated fat is bad and we should be prioritizing the

polyunsaturated fat. So the polyunsaturated oils are gonna be things

like safflower oil, sunflower oil, soybean oil, vegetable oil, canola oil, those are

kind of like the six main ones. And that saturated fat things like butter, coconut

oil, avocado oil, animal fat, are all really bad but that's actually not true.

Our brain is primary saturated fat. Saturated fat is actually

a very very stable fat, it's solid it stays stable at room temperature and

higher heats that those are the ones that we should be heating we shouldn't

be heating polyunsaturated fats, we shouldn't be heating canola oil

safflower or a sunflower oil but those saturated fats are very stable, and we

want a lot of the fat content of our body to be made up of those saturated

fats. Because the issue with a polyunsaturated fats is that they are

very very reactive and they're very very highly unstable. So like, I'll use canola

oil as an example. So basically with the polyunsaturated oils like they don't

tend to be made from really fatty sort of plants, so really really massive

industrial presses are needed to make these okay, and so typically

that's going to generate quite a bit of heat. and with the polyunsaturated fats

basically what you have is you have hydrogen linked to hydrogen and

typically so with saturated fat you have a bunch of hydrogen molecules and it's

completely, sorry a bunch of carbon molecules completely saturated

with hydrogen molecules and that's why it's saturated and that's what makes it

stable and protective but when you have polyunsaturated fats a lot of those

hydrogen molecules are actually replaced with double or triple bonds between the

carbon molecules, and those double and triple bonds are actually really really

reactive and sensitive to heat and light. So that really crazy industrial

press that you need to do with things like grapeseed oil or canola or

safflower, sunflower, does generate heat and that will wreck the oil and make

them toxic and cause them to break down. And so a lot of these oils they're

actually completely rancid when they sit on the shelf but they've been deodorized

so that they don't stink and you can actually do a bit of an experiment at

home so you know take some butter put it on your counter and leave it at room

temperature and then stick some canola oil on your counter too and wait about

two weeks to see what happens. The butter will so stay stable it won't smell it'll

be basically the same it'll just be kind of melty but the canola oil will start

to stink because that's what happens with oil oxidizes and breaks down okay.

So a lot of that stuff it's already toxic

and it's oxidized and it's rancid sitting on the grocery store shelf but

the manufacturers have deodorize it so

it's hiding that nasty smell. And you might be thinking well you know I buy

cold press. And that's great so that's gonna cut down on that heat that's

generated during the industrial pressing, but the other thing about these oils is

they're very sensitive to light, okay. So there's the industrial process but then

in the grocery store they tend to be really well lit and a lot of them are in

clear plastic bottles or even clear glass bottles even that light can break

down and make a lot of these these oils rancid. On top of that like you don't

know what happens in the shipping process and the handling process so even

if there is no heat produced in the the press, there might you know, it might, for

example right now it's super super hot where I live like it could literally go

to a a warehouse and sit there in an air-conditioned warehouse and just kind

of fester and heat. And then if that doesn't make it go rancid what happens

when it goes inside your body. Your body's pretty hot okay. So your body runs

at about 99 degrees Fahrenheit, which is about almost 40 degrees Celsius, so

that's pretty hot right. So you can only think about what happens to those oils

when it goes into your hot hot body right. So a lot of them, even if they

are cold-pressed, they are going to get quite rancid when they actually go into

our body. And another thing I like to think about with the oils is think about

like the types of fats that our ancestors would have had access to

grapeseed oil, canola oil there's just no f**king way you would be

able to get oil from those without a massive industrial press okay. So when

you think about coconut, when you think about butter, when you think of an animal

fat, avocado, like these are fatty things and me just pushing those things

together or cooking those things like the fat comes out right, and so those are

the fats that we want to we want to focus on, because if you're eating some

of these unsaturated fats like safflower oil, sunflower oil, canola, soybean,

vegetable oil, grapeseed oil, we're really just drinking toxic oils okay and it's

not only going to throw off our fat balance our Omega 6

omega-3 balance in the body but these can actually damage cells and they can

actually get into our arteries and break down and damage arteries. So, a little bit

is okay like if you're just having some every now and then but when it comes to

on a regular basis and when it comes to cooking focus on ghee, focus on butter,

focus on coconut oil, animal fat, like lard and tallow you don't tend to find

those in a grocery store but you can make them yourself it's actually pretty

easy. Avocado oil and olive oil are very good

as well I probably wouldn't cook high heats with olive oil but it's great for

salad. So that's really where you want to focus so those are my five, you know kind

of hidden kind of unknown toxins. Let me know what you think, let me know if

you've taken steps to remove those from your life, to remove those from your

environment, definitely let me know I'd love to hear about it. And if you have
