The Korean government announced new measures to rid the nation's roads of vehicles that
contribute to air pollution.
The Ministry of Environment plans to invest some 146-million U.S. dollars this year into
scrapping old diesel vehicles... or fitting them with "diesel particulate filters."
The ministry designated more than a dozen cities in Gyeonggi-do Province,... including
Suwon, Goyang, Gimpo, and Incheon,... as "Low Emission Zones,"... where the operation of
old diesel vehicles will be limited.
Until now, this concept applied only to nation's capital.
The new measures are part of efforts to eliminate over 13-hundred tons of fine dust a year.
