Andrew Zimmern Cooks: Hunan-Style Peanut Sauce - Duration: 1:35.
One of my favorite sauces for dipping, glazing, and enjoying with all types of
Asian food, is a classic Hunan style peanut sauce. Trust me, this one is gonna
be in your fridge all the time.
We take our oil and we pour that into this small
saucepan. Before it gets so hot that it's
gonna scorch our garlic, we throw that in.
And we just want this to get soft.
Next thing that goes in, is our tomato paste.
You sort of want to incorporate it right away.
Throw in a little bit of our sugar, throw in our chili paste.
Stir that around, chicken stock, some
fresh chili, our hoisin,
our peanut butter. We're just gonna break
that up as this stuff begins to simmer.
I'm gonna put about 1/2 of our peanuts
in there, and once that comes to a boil,
its ready. Put some peanuts on the top,
there, let's put a little chili. On the streets of Thailand, they make a version
of this Hunan style dipping sauce, and they serve it with bags of sticky rice.
Sticky rice and spicy peanut sauce, fantastic!

How to Make Crispy Roasted Pork Belly (Siu Yuk Cantonese Style) | Chinese Food in Chinatown Recipe - Duration: 3:50.
Hey everyone! Jimmy here. Today, we're making siu-yuk, which is traditional
Cantonese crispy pork belly. It is so delicious.
Let's get cooking. Cantonese roasted pork belly.
or Siu-Yuk, can be found hanging in many Chinatown restaurants' windows. You
can make this crispy pork belly recipe at home with these steps. Let's get
cooking. Clean the pork belly and remove its hair.
Boil for 10 minutes. Take out the pork belly and use a sharp knife/fork to poke
holes in the skin. Slice and cut the meat portion of the pork belly so the
marinade can soak in. Use a towel to dry the pork belly in a small bowl, mix one
tablespoon of rice wine, one teaspoon of salt, one teaspoon of sugar, one teaspoon
of five-spice powder, then brush the marinade on the pork meat. Do not brush
it on the pork belly.
Seal the pork with aluminum foil, leave the skin out in a small bowl, add
one teaspoon of salt, one teaspoon of rice vinegar,
I used apple cider vinegar, and a pinch of baking soda. The vinegar and the
baking soda combination are the secret in making the skin crispy, flaky. Then,
brush the ingredients on the skin. Leave the pork belly in the fridge overnight.
The next day preheat the oven to 425 F or 218 degrees Celsius. In
a small bowl, add a handful of salt and 2 eggs, cover the pork belly skin with the
salt and eggs combination. Transfer the pork belly to open in bake mode for 40
minutes. Take out the pork belly and brush off
the salt.
Use a towel to brush off the remaining salt. Use the fork to poke more holes on
the skin. Change the oven setting to "Boil" and grill for 20 minutes. This is my oven
setup, pork belly on top. Check the oven from time to time to make sure the skin
it's not extremely burnt. The pork belly should look something like this
after it's finished. You can go ahead and cut them into large rectangular cubes
just like how they do it in the Chinatown. Serve the pork belly with a
side of rice and soy sauce. So, try this out at home, and let me know how it goes.

Could We Travel Faster Than The Speed Of Light? - Duration: 5:16.
Hello and welcome back to Life's Biggest Questions, I'm Ron McKenzie-Lefurgey.
For centuries, humanity has looked to the stars and wondered what was out there.
In recent decades, space exploration has become a reality.
However, if we want to really explore outside of our own solar system, we'll need to figure
out a way to travel at great speeds, maybe even faster than light.
Can it be done?
Let's find out.

Now get ready, it's time to ask the question: Could we Travel Faster than the Speed of Light?
As was discussed in our video How Fast can Humans Go, our current understanding of physics
would lead us to believe that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light.
Particles with mass require energy in order to accelerate.
However, as an object approaches light speed, it gains more and more mass, to the point
where you would require more energy than exists in the universe to move at light speed.
So it seems that actual faster than light travel is impossible; does that mean we'll
never see the outer reaches of space?
Not necessarily.
There are a number of hypotheses as to how we could travel vast distances in a relatively
short time.
One possibility that is often put forth is using Worm Holes to travel quickly through
space.
While these holes haven't actually been observed, they are theorized to exist, acting
as a bridge between two points, similar to the Portal gun from the Portal games.
Some theorize that we could use these holes to travel vast distances in the blink of an
eye.
Unfortunately, we haven't found a way to use these holes, or even solid evidence that
they exist; but that hasn't stopped people from studying them.
A 1988 paper by Michael Morris, Kip Thorne, and Yuri Yurtsever even proposed an idea for
a wormhole time machine.
However, according to Stephen Hawking, keeping these holes open would require negative energy.
More on that later.
Another fun place to look for methods of effectively travelling faster than the speed of light
is science fiction.
And two of the most popular sci-fi franchises, Star Wars and Star Trek, take rather different
approaches to this problem.
In Star Wars, ships are outfitted with a hyperdrive.
This involves a ship accelerating near light speed and entering hyperspace, an alternate
dimension that can be used as a sort of shortcut between two points in physical space.
This requires large amounts of calculations, as Han explains in the film.
Even though the ship is physically in another dimension, large objects in physical space
would cast "Mass Shadows" that could affect the ship in hyperspace.
This would allow people to effectively achieve ridiculous speeds, crossing the galaxies in
a matter of days.
Some nerds even calculated this, and determined that the Millenium Falcon could potentially
travel over 1000 light years per hour.
Unfortunately, as of now, this remains in the realm of science fiction, as we have no
convincing reason to believe hyperspace exists, or that it can be used in this way.
Star Trek, on the other hand, has a somewhat less impressive, but more realistic, mechanism:
The Warp Drive.
The Warp drive involves the manipulation of Space Time.
By annihilating deuterium and antimatter, the warp drive can cause warp fields to form
a subspace bubble that distorts the local spacetime continuum.
This is significantly slower than the hyperdrive from Star Wars; at Warp 9.9, which is faster
than most ships in Star Trek can travel, a ship can reach speeds of just 2.44 light years
an hour.
Very impressive, but nothing compared to the Millenium Falcon's 1000.
However, this is particularly relevant to the question, because it actually fits in
somewhat with our current understanding of physics.
The Warp Drive actually inspired the Alcubierre drive, posited by theoretical physicist Miguel
Alcubierre.
It involves a whole bunch of calculations that I'm far too stupid to understand, let
alone explain, but I'll try to give a simplified explanation.
This drive would cause the spacetime fabric in front of the ship to contract, while causing
spacetime behind it to expand.
This can be compared to a surfer being carried along the water; the water doesn't necessarily
move with the surfer, it's the waves moving up and down that propel them forward.
Sadly, while many believe that this could work, we are a long way away from making this
a reality.
We currently don't have the technology to manipulate space in such a way, and even if
we did, we would likely need large amounts of negative energy to power the device.
What's negative energy?
I'm glad you asked.
The Heisenberg uncertainty principle states that the energy density of any electric, magnetic,
or other field fluctuates randomly.
It's been found that if you suppress these fluctuations in a vacuum, you can increase
the positive energies in some places, while causing the regions that previously had 0
energy to possess negative energy.
Essentially, one area of space borrows energy from a region that didn't have any to start
with, producing negative energy.
Unfortunately, this has only been done to produce very small amounts of negative energy,
which leads many scientists to believe that it will be quite some time before we can make
enough to power a warp drive, if it is even possible.
And now we return to our question: Could we Travel Faster than the Speed of Light?
Well, in terms of physically moving faster than light speed, it seems that it can't
be done.
That said, we do have some promising ideas of how to EFFECTIVELY move faster than the
speed of light, like the Alcubierre drive, but we still have a lot to learn before this
can become a reality.
However, with enough technological advances, and with the ability to produce large amounts
of negative energy, we could eventually find ourselves travelling to a galaxy far, far
away, or even, a long time ago.

DIY Cozy Bedding Updates | withwendy - Duration: 3:49.
Hey everyone, my name is Wendy from the YouTube channel withwendy. Today I'm here
with CBC life to give you three really, really easy ways to spruce up your bed
so it's a nice and cozy nest. Anyone from Canada I can tell you that winter can be
pretty brutal. It's completely understandable that you would want to
stay in bed. Why not make bed a nice place to stay?
Before we get started,
here is how my bedspread looked.Iit's a pretty basic combination of pillowcases,
duvet cover, quite a plain throw. We're gonna try three modifications to give
this all an update. A throw makes the bed look so much cozier but what makes a
throw look cozier is texture. You can go visit the fabric store, find some
matching fringe. I've got this really pretty twisted rope and we're just going
to curl in the raw edges, start gluing it with the glue gun at one corner and go
all the way to the other edge. I did this on the two opposite short ends of the
throw and once you are done, it is so much more textured and fun.
The next thing that instantly cozies up a bed is an extra pillow. You can cut some faux
fur that can cover it completely when folded and sew or glue the two opposite
raw edges so that now it's a pocket for the pillow. To give it an extra cute
shape don't keep the corners as points, but instead tuck them on the inside so
that now your corner has a little bit more of a square shape. I did this for
the two bottom corners and on the open end of the pillowcase I folded and
clipped everything away so that now it's sealed in a rectangular fold. This you
can seal off with some hand sewing or use glue gun again, and that finishes off
a cute little square pillow.
That brings us to our last little DIY. This strange
contraption I have created out of chopsticks, a cup and some masking tape.
What we're gonna do here is take some yarn that matches the colour of your
pillowcases and wind it all the way around. I did it about a hundred times.
Then take an extra piece of yarn and just tie everything off close to one of
the chopsticks. Do what you can to loop the yarn around and pull so it is as
tight of a knot as possible. We're going to cut free the other end of the yarn
and that gives us a little half pom pom. After making a few more of these you can
assemble them on the pillowcase and easily glue gun them in place. The last step really
completes the woven cozy look of these pillowcases. I added a strip of yarn, glue
guned the two ends in place and used a zig zag stitch periodically across the yarn
as a cute little accent to complete everything.
This is how my bed looked
before and with three little updates, here is how it all looks now.
