he wanted some apple taters.

that we try to make apple taters.
- Probably not a good idea for us to create apple taters.

- There's a chair back there.
- This is the first time we've let anyone
in our strange office. - Oh, I'm so honored.
- You have created apple taters.
- Yeah, so I watched the video and I...
It was very inspiring. - Inspiring?
(laughs) That's the first time
I ever heard someone say one of our episodes is inspiring.
- I'm always looking for some inspiration.
I heard a ghost or demon say apple tater.
I came up this recipe and I'd love to show you guys.
- We would love to sink our teeth into these apple taters.
- Well, we are gonna be making the apple taters.
- Let's get cooking!
(jazzy music)
- So here we are in the kitchen.
- We made it. - Where we don't belong.
(giggles) - Now you are.
- How do we do this?
- Okay, so tater tots is potato,
so potato have starch so it can be easily binded together.
But apple doesn't have any starch.
So I'm gonna grate apples and combine with churro dough.
- With churro dough? - Mm-hmm.
- Oh, shit, that sounds delightful.
- [Rie] Okay so, first peel apple.
- Is there a better way to this?
Are we doing it right? - I sometimes do like--
- Oh, here.
- [Shane] Oh, you're doing a continuous...
- [Ryan] I see, may I give that a try?
- I'm gonna go in little chunks still.
I'm just gonna be a little chunker.
- This is so much harder, okay.
You made it look so easy. (laughs)
- Ryan, you have to realize Rie probably
wouldn't be very good at hunting ghosts.
- That's true. - That's true.
- We make that look easy, you know?
- Yeah, we do make that look really easy.
- We make it look like a breeze.
- This is where I saw something earlier, but it's fine.
My hands are shaking and I feel like
I'm about to have a nervous breakdown.
All right, okay, do not be afraid.
- All right, do you wanna put it in the lemon juice.
- Oh, throw it in the lemon juice?
- [Rie] So next, grate an apple.
Go for it, and be careful. - Be careful.
We don't wanna lose our-- - Don't grate your fingers.
- How many times have you cut yourself?
- Not much, but I-- - You get good at it,
you know? (laughs)
- We got possessed a lot in our early goings
and when we would hunt ghouls and demons.
- There was ghoul that followed Ryan home
and it wouldn't let him sleep for a while.
- Yeah, I dreamed-- - Really?
- He had night terrors.
- Yeah, it was awful. - Oh my god.
Do you still like your job?
- I don't know if we need to answer that right now.
(laughs)
- So what's next? - Okay.
Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon and macerate
so we can extract the water from apple.
- Frankly, we don't even have to do anything else.
This looks good enough on it's own.
- Yeah, I would eat these right now.
- I'll eat sugar apples. - It feels good.
You could do this on a nice, hot summer day.
- Yeah, just out on the porch.
- Yeah, just squeezing your apples.
- Staring off at the horizons, squeezing your apple bits.
- Yeah, looking at the neighbors.
- So we're gonna set aside.
And while we are waiting, we're gonna make a churro dough.
Have you made a churro before?
- I have not. - I have not.
- I've eaten many. - I've consumed many churros.
- Okay, good. - Six Flags.
- So I consider myself a bit of an expert.
- Pinch of salt, ka-chonk. - There's the pinch.
- [Shane] Bigger grain, and the brown sugar.
- So we're gonna bring this to a boil.
Add the flour, lower the heat,
and you're just gonna just like mix it.
- Just stir like a crazy person.
Are you ready to mix really fast?
- Just fucking pour it, dude. - Here we go.
Mix it really fast.
- Oh, I'm mixing it fast, baby.
- It's starting to ball. - Yeah, good job!
- All right, all right, man.
Oh no, no, no. - I got it.
- It's just that simple.
- In three easy steps, you got apple taters.
Bam, shaka. - So we are waiting
this dough to cool down. - Sure.
- So let's put apple in here, so you can squeeze the apple.
- Now I'm just gonna squeeze it.
- Yeah. - And that's fun.
Oh, boy.
- Whoa! - Oh yeah,
you're showing those apples who's boss.
Squeeze those apples.
Give us the juice. - Give me the juice!

- All right, so let's put the apple in here.
- And you don't the water in the apples because
it'll explode in your face when you're cooking it.
- Yep. - Okay.
- So, we're gonna add egg, but one by one.
- Boy, I do love cracking an egg open.
There's few things that are as satisfying
as cracking a good egg open. - Well, you can
have it at those, 'cause I always screw it up.
- Let's crack the egg one at a time.
- One at a time, Ryan.
- There's so much pressure on me.
- Here he goes, the egg man.
- [Ryan] Oh, now that's a clean crack.
- Clean crack! - Yeah.
- Okay, and you're gonna...

if I've ever seen one. (laughs)
- Do you want me to show first?
- Yeah, maybe. - Yeah, maybe.
- Your silence... - I was gonna say, I'm not...
- I could feel your silent rage building over there.
Ooh, this kinda looks like a gnocchi almost.
- Isn't it pronounced "nyawk-kee"?
- Do you actually pronounce it that way
when you order it from a restaurant?
- Yes, I say I'd like a "nyawk-kee."

Do you do that with your hands, too?
- No, I don't do that with my hands.

I killed the cracking of the egg, though, I think.
- Yeah, great job. - Thank you.
- You got some sticking down here.
Maybe you really... - No, it's good.
I'm killing it now. - There you go, there you go.
- Got any other you need me to cook around here?
- What? - Why did you
say that in such a threatening tone?
"You got any other things you want me to cook around here?"
- It was more like a "easy,
got anything else you need me to do?"
- You glowered at her.
- You're saying it like Kylo Ren right now,
I did not say it like Kylo Ren.
You're even doing Kylo Ren mouth.
(imitates light saber) (laughs)
- Looks good! - Okay.
- Do you wanna do the next one?
- Yeah, let him do the next one.
- Do I have to crack it? - Mm-hmm.
- Oh, I'm gonna blow it.
- On the table technique.
Oh, that was pretty good!
You sold yourself short.
- I wish I could've done it with one hand, but, you know.
That is... - Looks good.

- So if the dough drops like triangular.
- Oh, I see. - Right now
it's not triangular, so I'm gonna put
one more egg. - So one more egg.
- The viscosity is a little off.
- It's all about the viscosity.

- And then let's put the apple
in the mix. - We put it in?

in the dough and let's call it a day.
Step up the mound.
- Okay, all right, you're not even hitting the dough now.

- Next, we're gonna fry what we made.
Let's put dough in a piping bag.
- [Ryan] This is the dangerous step, right?
This is when we're gonna likely burn ourselves?
- Yeah, you know, I will keep my eyes on that, so...
- Oh, so you're gonna clip it. - Yeah.
- So we get a nice little...
- [Both] Ahh.
- So maybe like one person squeeze and one person cut it.

- You see it get closer to the oil--
(record scratches) (laughs)
- Yeah. - It won't splash.
Everything's fine. - If you go closer,
it's less splash. - Okay.
- Well that's not a good cut, Ryan.
- Well, it wasn't a good squeeze, either.
- [Shane] Well now, this a thing that I don't have.
- You kinda like flip it. - Bat 'em around a bit?
- Yeah, like...
- You're rotating them beautifully.
- Thank you. - Mm-hmm.
A little longer.
- This one, though? - Careful now.
- There's our first apple tater!
- Yay! - That is the
inaugural apple tater.
- It was easy, right? - Yeah, it wasn't that bad.
I mean, you're there with the step by step,
so it seemed easier than it probably was.
I'm sure if I did this on my own, it would be a disaster
and I'd probably have third degree burns.
I'd be on the way to the hospital.
Ooh, it's like little buried pieces of treasure right there,
little nuggets - Little nuggets!
Like we're digging through a little litter box.
- Well. - I'm excited.
- See you on the other side. - Yeah, cheers.
- Cheers. - Cheers.
- To ghouls. - To ghouls.
(dramatic music)
Oh my god. - Ooh, wow.
- That is the best damn apple tater I've ever had.
Creamy, delicious, crispy.
- But also light, fluffy, soft on the inside.
- The inside is perfectly fluffy.
It complements the outside, the crispy exterior.
- I love it! - You know what?
Put it on our tombstones, the ghouls boys love apple taters.
- I can see myself laying on a beach,
just sort of like.
- Oh, throwing 'em into your mouth.
- Yeah, staring at people. - Gonna have another.
- No, they're not gonna have apple taters.
I'm having the apple taters. - You keep talking,
