FEDS MAKE STUNNING DACA ANNOUNCEMENT – Here We Go

President Donald Trump scored a major victory on Tuesday when a federal judge issued a ruling

affirming his authority to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Started by then-President Barack Obama in 2012, this program grants those who arrived

in the United States before they turned 16 the ability to apply for renewable two-year

deferments on deportation.

"Federal Judge in Maryland has just ruled that 'President Trump has the right to end

DACA,'" Trump tweeted yesterday, according to Western Journalism.

"President Obama had 8 years to fix this problem, and didn't.

I am waiting for the Dems, they are running for the hills!"

Federal district court Judge Roger W. Titus ruled that it was in Trump's authority to

rescind Obama's executive order last September and give Congress six months to address the

issue legislatively.

"(Trump's) decision took control of a pell-mell situation and provided Congress

— the branch of government charged with determining immigration policy — an opportunity

to remedy it.

Given the reasonable belief that DACA was unlawful, the decision to wind down DACA in

an orderly manner was rational," Titus wrote in his ruling.

The judge went on to say that any rhetoric Trump may have used about illegal aliens in

the past was not relevant to reaching a legal ruling concerning DACA.

"As disheartening or inappropriate as the president's occasionally disparaging remarks

may be, they are not relevant to the larger issues governing the DACA rescission.

The DACA Rescission Memo is clear as to its purpose and reasoning, and its decision is

rationally supported by the administrative record," the judge stated.

Trump has said he wants to make a deal on DACA that includes building a U.S.-Mexico

border wall and putting an end to the Visa lottery program and chain migration.

He's accused Democrats of being unwilling to play ball with him.

"Total inaction on DACA by Dems.

Where are you?

A deal can be made!" Trump wrote on Twitter.

Adrienne Houghton's Life Story Vlog | All Things Adrienne - Duration: 8:27.

- Hey, what's up everyone?

My channel is called All Things Adrienne

because I literally want you to know everything about me,

so we're about to get personal.

I'm taking it way back, all the way to the beginning.

Here's my life story.

(upbeat music)

My mother was a special ed teacher's aide

and my dad was a lab technician.

Crazy thing is, my dad actually started out being a singer.

He came from Ecuador with a dream.

He sang cumbia salsa music and that's how

he actually met my mom, in a club, a salsa nightclub.

He was the singer of the band in Queens, New York.

I have siblings.

I have one sister named Claudette,

she's older than me, three years older than me.

We're best friends and soulmates, we say.

And I have five stepbrothers.

Elvis, Jorge, Joey, John, and Eric.

And I actually didn't get stepbrothers

until I was about 14 or 15 years old because that's when

my parents got divorced, then re-married.

I grew up singing in my house constantly.

My home was filled with music.

I grew up in church, in a Pentecostal church,

where we did these elaborate church plays,

and I tried to star in every single one of them.

And I grew up just with a passion for the arts,

singing, dancing, acting,

and I would say that that was the preparation

for the time when I got my big break.

When I was 14 years old in high school,

I actually went to a medical high school

cause I thought I wanted to be an obstetrician.

I guess I was gonna sing the babies out.

I actually did an internship at Beth Israel

and this guy named Reggie walked up to me

and he's like, "Yo ma, you sing?"

Yes, I do, what do you want to hear?

I got songs ready to go.

There's no such thing as luck,

it's preparation meets opportunity,

and when I tell you I was prepared, ask my neighbors.

They were hearing me sing every single day

from the moment I woke up to the time I went to bed.

My mom was like, "We're about to get evicted, Adrienne.

"Nobody wants to hear you hollering

"La India, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion."

So when that moment came, I had songs prepared and ready,

and he actually was who introduced me

to my first manager, who managed 3LW

and was putting together a girl group.

Although I was auditioning for a pop R&B girl group

with 3LW, I actually auditioned

singing Marc Anthony's Preciosa.

I literally sang in Spanish for an English girl group.

(laughs)

I don't think anyone thought

3LW would take off the way it did.

With our first single, No More,

it went to the top of the charts,

we had a number one video on TRL,

which was insane cause literally,

I used to cut school, kids, don't do this,

and I actually used to stand in Times Square

with posters for my favorites, Britney Spears, N-Sync,

and to now be standing inside of the studio audience,

all my friends came out and supported us,

my family was standing out there with posters for 3LW,

and it just took off.

We ended up going on the TRL tour,

opening for Destiny's Child, Jessica Simpson,

Eve, Nelly, it was insane.

And crazy thing is, one day we heard

that Disney Channel was auditioning

for a movie about a girl group.

My first audition for acting ever.

Guys, I messed up so bad on my audition.

Do, you're a Cheetah girl because of who's in your heart.

Holds her tightly and hugs her close.

I read the directions on my audition.

So embarrassing.

I thought right then and there, oh my God, this is over.

Like, that's it. It's the end.

And crazy enough, I thank til this day the producer

of the film, the executive producer, Debra Martin-Chase,

who saw something special in me from the start.

When I ask her now, "Why did you let me do it again?"

She said, "I knew from the moment that you walked in

"that you were our Chuchie,"

which was my character from The Cheetah Girls, Chanel.

We went on from doing one movie to two movies

to three movies, and then having three tours

that were insane, probably some of the best experiences

of my life happened while touring with The Cheetah Girls

and just being a part of it.

It's probably something that I'm the most proud of

and just being a part of the Disney Channel family

for me was such an honor.

I'm so proud of who I am, I'm so proud of my culture,

I'm super orgulloso, and I think

the fact that for the first time,

they had a Latina character that young girls

could look up to and be like,

"Oh my God, she looks like me, she sounds like me."

It was so meaningful for what it was doing

and how groundbreaking it was for Latinas in television.

I am like the perpetual girl group member.

I was in 3LW, Cheetah Girls,

and now I'm in another girl group called The Real.

And I can't express how much I love

working with those women.

I think that there's something to be said

about women that work really well with other women.

Girl power.

I love the fact that we're live now

and that you never know what's gonna happen.

Somebody's weave might slip out,

a ponytail might fall out, you might slip and fall.

And I think that's what makes the show so special

is that we are just real and authentic.

I think the greatest a-ha moment I had on the show

was completely not prepared, they had us open up these bags

and it was questions that they wanted us

to answer on the spot, and I opened this little bag

and opened up this crumpled little paper

and it said, "Why don't you sing anymore?"

I got so emotional in the moment,

I never would've thought I would have,

but I had a really honest moment

about what I thought about my voice

and something that so many of us feel,

we can be our biggest roadblock

in making our own dreams come true,

and I talked about the fact that I love to sing,

I absolutely love, love singing,

but I didn't love the sound of my own voice.

I think even for our fans, that was a really big moment,

especially since I later ended up

coming out with a Christmas album.

And I sing on the show, I feel like,

all the time now and I kind of have been freed

from that fear that I used to have.

So many people reached out and showed so much love,

saying how much they wanted me to get back to singing,

and that was awesome.

So here I am at 34 years old.

I'm like a daytime talk show host,

I can't even believe I can say that out loud.

I have a husband that I'm so in love with.

I'm married, I'm a stepmom, I love my family.

Looking forward to expanding my family in the future

and turning this amazing house into a home.

What I'm hoping for my channel, All Things Adrienne,

is one, that you guys get to know me a whole lot more.

I can introduce you to my family.

This gets really, really personal and I love that.

I think I live my life like an open book

and this is just another opportunity

for me to delve in and let you guys in.

I also want you to know that I heard you guys.

I absolutely love all of you

that have loved and supported me throughout my career

and I know you've been asking for makeup tutorials,

house tours, you want to know about fashion,

what I've been wearing, everything.

You guys have so many questions and this is the place

where I can actually answer all of that.

My favorite color is gold.

My favorite singer is Selena.

My favorite pump-up song would be Kirk Franklin, Hosanna.

Let me hear you make some holy ghost crazy noise.

(laughs)

That's my jam.

I swear we listen to it in my dressing room

all the time before shooting The Real.

My very last meal would be crab legs

dipped in garlic butter, heavenly baby Jesus.

The movie that makes me cry is Steel Magnolias

and it's one of my favorites, I love Julia Roberts

and I know every single word.

My colors are blush and bashful.

My dream vacation destination is Bora Bora.

I just want it for the gram.

Like, I want to take a bomb picture in the hut

with the see-through floor, seeing the little fishies

under me, I want to go to Bora Bora.

I do have a hidden talent.

(gurgling)

My teachers would be like, "Turn off that toy.

"Who has that toy?"

And I'd be doing work like...

(gurgling)

Yeah. It was bad.

So there you go, that's my life story in a nutshell.

But I really want to hear what you guys have to say.

I want to hear what you want to see on my channel.

Make sure that you comment, ask questions.

I'm so excited about getting to know you guys

just as much as you're gonna get to know me.

So let me know, make sure you comment in the comments,

and subscribe to the channel.

See you next time.

Brad Anderson's Lunch Break / s9 e1 / Sigal Zarmi, CIO, PwC - Duration: 5:33.

(upbeat music)

- [Brad] It's lunch time,

and this is Brad Anderson's Lunch Break.

Here in Redmond, we're visited by some of the smartest people

on the planet. Pretty much every day.

Every chance I get, I meet up with them for lunch.

Today I'm meeting up with Sigal Zarmi,

the global CIO and Vice-Chairwoman

of the massive professional services company,

PricewaterhouseCoopers.

(soft piano music)

- So, PricewaterhouseCoopers,

one of the biggest global consulting organizations

on the planet.

- Yep, 157 countries.

- 157 countries, a quarter of a million employees.

- Yep. - Right?

And not only are you the CIO,

but you're the Vice Chairwoman of the company.

(laughs)

You know, I'm thinking here to myself, overachiever,

but more than anything, I'm thinking to myself,

how lucky are we to have you for a couple of minutes.

So you've been the CIO for quite a while, right?

- [Sigal] Yes. (giggles)

- Now as you look back over your career,

what's the standard business practices that you grew up with

that now just doesn't make sense or doesn't work anymore?

- The one thing, I think the way we think about outsourcing,

I think 20 years ago, everybody was outsourcing,

and you tried to outsource everything.

- Yeah

- And you keep only the manager who are over watching

your third party providers.

I think today, we're rethinking about outsourcing.

You want to make sure you have your IP in house,

you want to make sure that the secret sauce

of what you do is managed by your own people.

You want to make sure that you have the skill set

around technology because it's so prevalent.

It's everywhere and you need technology to be successful.

Everybody, every company we talk to

is going through a digital transformation, us included.

So, you want to make sure you have those experts in-house.

So, you still outsource,

but I think it's with a different lens.

- So, we were talking about AI

and some of the big breakthroughs that have happened.

I'm going to give you some scenarios

and ask you if you think AI will be able to accomplish

these things in our lifetime.

- Okay.

- Beat the best human player in a game of charades.

- Yes. (bell dings)

- Moderate a United States Presidential Debate.

That's a pretty tall order.

- Yeah, that's a tall order, but I would say yes.

- Okay. (bell dings)

How about negotiate peace

between the United States and Canada?

(laughs)

- I thought you were going to ask me about peace

in other areas of the world. Which I would say, no.

- Something are impossible.

- Some areas are really, really tough,

but United States and Canada, probably yeah.

(bell dings)

- Earn the loyalty of a cat.

- No

(buzzer alarms)

- Where do you think, you know,

IT heads over the next five to ten years?

What is it going to be about IT individuals

and IT leaders that really differentiates them

and helps them differentiate their companies?

- I think the biggest thing that IT can do to differentiate

is be experts and problem solvers.

And complex problem solvers.

- Yeah.

- So, the environment is getting much more complex, right?

(laughs)

We all know that, - Sure.

- We feel that. We feel that in our day-to-day,

not just in the places we work for.

And I think technologists have a unique capability

to problem solve, because that's what technology is about,

right? - Yeah, more engineers, right?

- Right, that's what engineering's about, solve a problem.

And, especially complex problems,

where you have the equation it's not just the pure

technology, when you have process,

when you have the culture, the people,

and the technology coming together,

and I think, IT people can really excel

if they just broaden up and think about a problem

in the most broadest sense

and try to help solve that problem.

From...

Especially from the culture standpoint

of where technology can help.

- How has that influenced the morale of the IT department?

As so much has moved to the cloud,

what does the morale of your team look like?

- I think that people who have been able to retool,

you know, are really happy with it

because a lot of technology people,

they love to work with the newest technology.

They love to be able to...

- Sure, that's what I love to do.

- Right. We want to use the new tools.

So, I would say the morale is up, that that is our strategy.

They like it, they're excited about it.

They want to be able to be part of that journey

because it's the future, right?

- Awesome.

- And I think people coming in to technology,

they don't come in to technology

because of yesterday's technology, right?

Because it's exciting for them

and I think the team is excited

that we have a very progressive strategy.

And that we are executing towards that at a good pace.

(upbeat music)

- [Brad] Next time on Brad Anderson's Lunch Break,

- The way employees are working with technology

is so instrumental to the way to deliver value

to either the clients or within the organization.

- Yeah.

- That you have to make sure you focus on how we work,

not just what tools we use, but how we leverage those tools.

(upbeat music fades)

Android deserves better smartwatches. Here's why - Duration: 6:56.

- I've been making YouTube videos

for a few years now, and every time I make a video,

no matter what the subject is,

people always ask me the exact same question.

What's that watch you're wearing?

It's different every time.

This time it's a Fossil Q hybrid

something or other, I don't know.

But I like using Android phones,

and I like wearing smartwatches,

but when you use an Android phone,

and you want to wear a smartwatch,

your choices are actually kinda grim.

There's so many of 'em, but none of 'em

are really that good.

So I'm trying to figure out what to do

about that situation.

Now, maybe the first question shouldn't be,

which smartwatch should I get if I use an Android phone?

The first question should probably be,

do I need a smartwatch at all?

And yeah, that's a totally fair question.

For a lot of people, it's about fitness.

It's about tracking your steps,

and tracking your exercise, but I don't know,

that's not me, I care about steps,

but I don't work out enough, and I don't need

a smartwatch for that.

For me, it's about notifications,

and specifically, it's about treating them

as ambient information instead of something

that's constantly pestering me.

I really like wearing a smartwatch

because when my wrist buzzes or my phone buzzes,

I can just glance down at my watch, see if it's

something I care about or not,

and move on with my day.

I try to have the same relationship

with all the information streaming into my phone,

that I do with just a clock.

I can look at it when I need the information

and ignore it when I don't.

So, if you're an Android user and you want to have

that same relationship with notifications

that I do, what do you do?

So the obvious answer should be if you have

an Android phone, you should get an Android smartwatch.

Android Wear.

Except it's not called Android Wear anymore,

it's called Wear OS, 'cause Google wants everybody

to know that it also works with an iPhone.

But, it really works better with Android.

Anyway, the problem with Wear OS is Google hasn't

done right by its users with this platform.

There's a bunch of problems actually.

So the first one, Ron Amadeo wrote a

really good article a couple of month ago

over at Ars Technica, pointing out that the

vast majority of Wear OS watches use this

ancient Qualcomm processor, the 2100,

that hasn't been updated in two years,

and there's really nothing on the horizon.

And what that means is if you go out

and just buy an Android Wear watch,

it's probably going to be too slow,

it's probably not going to have great battery life,

you're probably going to have not a great experience.

On top of that, if you just go out and buy

an Android Wear watch, you're probably going

to buy it from the people that are making them these days,

which are Google's fashion partners,

like Fossil, or Kate Spade, or Michael Kors,

or whatever.

And so you're paying a premium for this old technology.

But even if you get past all of that,

the basic experience of using a Wear OS watch,

doesn't hold up this year.

They're kinda slow, the third-party apps are

not that great, if you can find them at all,

and digging through the piles and piles

of watch faces to find the one good one

that you like just takes forever.

It's really just a huge problem all around,

and I've just been waiting for Google to fix it.

What I would like to do is tell you

that I've used all of the available smartwatches

that work with Android and I've picked the

best one for most people.

And I've used a bunch of 'em, but I can't give you

the best one for most people because I kind

of don't think there is one.

Instead, the best thing I can offer you is this

decision tree.

And your first decision is, do you want a screen

on your smartwatch or not?

If you do, you've got two branches.

You've got Wear OS, which we've just talked about,

and we've got a couple of third-party options

that I like.

If you don't care about a screen,

but you still want a smartwatch,

there's another branch over here called hybrid.

And so I wanna go through these different options with you.

Okay, so you want a screen.

We've already gone over Wear OS.

It's, it's fine.

But if that doesn't appeal to you,

there is a brand new smartwatch

that just hit the scene.

It's the Fitbit Versa.

And I don't love it.

As a fitness watch, it's pretty solid.

It fits into Fitbit's whole ecosystem,

but I think it looks pretty terrible.

The watch face options are even worse.

The third-party app support is non-existent.

Battery life is great though.

But as a general smartwatch, I don't think it's good.

A better option is the Samsung Gear line.

This is the Gear Sport.

And I like it a lot actually.

On the watch itself, it's got this rotating bezel

so you can jam through your notifications really quickly.

There's not great third-party app support,

but there's a little bit.

The problem that I have with this is

if you don't use a Samsung phone,

in order to get this thing up and running,

you have to install at least four different

pieces of software.

The Gear software, the notification thing,

S Health, some other thing.

And you could even get up to six.

And that's just a lot of Samsung crap on my phone,

and I don't love it.

So, the watch is fine.

I think it's actually pretty good.

It does most of the things right

that Android Wear gets wrong, it's just,

it's a lot of Samsung.

Now the last branch in the decision tree

is this hybrid watch.

And so, here's one that I just got.

It's a Skagen, again.

And this is this Fossil I've been wearing.

They're basically the same watch.

And the thing that's interesting about this is

you don't get to see the content

of your notification, but it can still count your steps,

and it can still show you a little bit of information.

So when a text message comes in,

I've configured this thing to have the

minute hand point to the three.

Or when it's a calendar appointment it points to the nine.

Or whatever, and so when my phone buzzes,

or my wrist vibrates, I can glance down

at my watch and it'll point down to,

I don't know, six, and I know in my head,

that that's a Slack message.

I'll look at it later.

But if it points at 12, it's a call,

and I should pull my phone out right now.

The other reason I really like hybrid smartwatches is

you don't have to charge the damn things every day.

A battery in this thing could last

anywhere from three to six months

depending on how many notifications you get.

It's the watch I've been wearing the most lately.

So that's the decision tree for smartwatches

for Android users, as far as I see it.

The place where I've landed is I've mostly been using

a hybrid smartwatch, but I don't know,

I kinda want to go back to Wear OS.

Which seems like a really bad choice,

but I really like having the weather on my wrist,

and I really like seeing my next calendar appointment.

And to do that, you need a screen.

But even though it might be the right choice for me,

I don't think I can recommend a Wear OS watch

to really, anybody else.

There's the fact that the processor is really old.

But more to the point, these watches aren't that cheap.

Because Google partnered with all these fashion brands,

it means that you're having to pay fashion brand prices.

You're paying for the design and the brand name.

And that extra money just doesn't seem worth it to me

for a platform that I don't know where it's going.

It's great that there are so many choices

of different watch styles and different kinds of

watch bands and all the other stuff that you can get

with Android Wear, but if none of those choices

are a home run, then what's the point

of having all that choice?

I really hope that this year, Google can find a way

to give better options to Android users

when it comes to smartwatches because looking around,

it's way past time.

Hi, everybody.

Thank you so much for watching.

And if you've gotten this far,

maybe jump down to the comments

and let me know what is the most important thing

for you in a smartwatch.

For me it was, I don't know, battery life

for hybrids, maybe it's something different for you.

Windows 10 April update is CONFIRMED: Here are the new features Microsoft fans will love - Duration: 3:00.

Windows 10 April update is CONFIRMED: Here are the new features Microsoft fans will love Microsoft.

Windows 10 is due an update this month and now it appears Microsoft has confirmed it will be called April update.

A recent Edge browser upgrade, to build 17134, has revealed here that the new Windows 10 refresh will be called April update, as you can also see in the below image.

That previously rumoured name of Spring update appears to have been false after all. So what new features can we expect from the April update to Windows 10? There are a few teases so far that include a change to the timeline.

You should soon be able to resume previous activities in timeline which could make for a more seamless way of working, even when taking breaks.

This appears to work by let you scroll between windows of activity and simply selecting where you want to jump back in. Another feature will allow you to more easily share files with nearby devices.

Yup, this does sound a bit like Apple's AirDrop – but that's no bad thing as it really works well.

This does appear to be a Windows to Windows computer based sharing system, but it may end up reaching further across varying devices.

Microsoft has also rebuilt the Game Bar to offer a new Fluent design user interface that should make the experience far more friendly and easy.

There will now be a diagnostic data viewing tool in the security and privacy section for those that want a bit more in depth information on what's happening on their Windows 10 machine.

Cortana also appears to be getting an upgrade which will allow the voice controlled smart assistant to be used more easily via a new Organizer interface and My Skills tab.

. Microsoft also says it has listened to feedback from its customers and is now making this upgrade a lot smoother.

Now, rather than the 82 minute update time of the Creators release, or the 51 minute offline update time of the Fall Creators update, the April update should take just 30 minutes.

There may still be a delay on the update itself, despite the April name. Reports of a bug being discovered could end up pushing back the already delayed update.

But with that April name already public it seems likely Microsoft will stick to this month for release.

HHS Office for Civil Rights: Here to Serve You - Duration: 2:30.

Hello, my name is Roger Severino and I am the Director of the Office for Civil Rights

at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. My office is charged with enforcing

three types of federal civil rights laws: Laws protecting the privacy and security of

health information such as HIPAA; Laws prohibiting discrimination in health and human services

on the basis of race, national origin, age, sex, or disability; and Laws protecting conscience

and religious freedom in health care and human services.

In January of 2018, we launched a new Conscience and Religious Freedom Division within the

Office for Civil Rights to make sure our existing conscience and religious freedom laws get

the focused attention that they deserve.

Conscience and religious freedom are fundamental, natural human rights that are protected by

the First Amendment to the Constitution and laws at the federal, state, and local level.

Such protections have been part of our national story since the Founding.

For example, our laws have protected people morally opposed to the taking life in war

since the American Revolution and through the Vietnam War era.

America also has a long tradition of not forcing anyone, including doctors or pharmacists,

to help in the execution of people convicted of capital crimes.

In line with this tradition, the Office for Civil Rights enforces long-standing laws protecting

doctors and nurses who, for example, refuse to participate in the taking of life through

abortion or assisted suicide, and people and institutions that decline to pay, cover, or

refer for abortions.

Patients are also protected from government punishment for declining to receive treatments

or undergo procedures that violate their conscience or religious convictions. To learn more about

our new Conscience and Religious Freedom Division and about all the laws that we enforce, we

encourage you to visit us at hhs.gov/ocr.

If you believe that a covered entity has violated your civil rights, conscience and religious

freedom, or health information privacy, you may file a complaint through our website.

The HHS Office for Civil Rights is dedicated to protecting all of these rights under law,

and we are here to serve you.

"Jan Van Eyck was here 1434" : The secrets within the portrait - Duration: 9:47.

To understand Jan van Eyck's art we have to go back to The Hundred Year War

The Hundred Year War was a long fight between the England Kingdom and the France Kingdom

for the French throne

the gruesome battle lasted from

1337 to 1453

Because of the war people develop the deadly

plague disease

The plague also known as the Black Death

was one of the biggest killers of the Middle Ages of

Europe in the 14th and 15th century

The plague was a bacteria that was carried by fleas

mostly common in rats.

It had arrived in Europe by

1348 it had killed up to 30 to 50 percent of the population

The virus was spreading

all over Europe from Italy, France, Germany,England and Spain

It took more than 80 years to recover Europe's population

However after the plague new opportunity started to bloom in Flanders the printing press was invented.

Northern European scholars and artists began making their own cultural contributions. Which became known as the Northern Renaissance

The printing press had historic effect on European development art, religion and literature were introduced to the people

The people who survived the play became merchants trade goods help Europe economy grow.

Trades from Asia transferred into Europe

Items such as luxury furniture

Gold and fruit came through Italian ports as an outcome merchant families grew rich and powerful.

Self-portraits were a great way to show off your wealth

The master of painting self-portraits in Flanders was Jan van Eyck.

Jan van Eyck is a Flemish painter the creator of "new art" in the 15th century

Well made Jan van Eyck popular was his true to life style painting

He uses vivid oil colors, particular detail,

Accurate textures, and the illusion of three-dimensional spaces on a two-dimensional surface

An example of Jan van Eyck's realistic painting is Ghent Altarpiece.

He uses rich colors that gives us the illusion of the real world

This is also known as "Supreme Art"

this

international elegant style demonstrates the difference between noble and ordinary people

Another,

Example of noble people would be the Arnolfini Portrait

The Arnolfini Portrait t was created by Jan van Eyck. It

Is a self-portrait of Giovanni and Giovanna, Arnolfini.

believe this betrays wealth, power, and marriage.

The Arnolfini Portrait is well organized it has symmetrical balance.

The woman's side corresponds to the man's side

Jan van Eyck uses rich commentary color scheme. Such as red furniture and the green dress

He is also great in showing stimulated texture

Such as the woman's veil, fur and broom.

The implied lines in the woman's and man's glance are in different direction.

There is a lot of repetition of circular shape such as the window patterns,

the mirror and

oranges

Shading also gives the portrait the illusion of deepness

Giovanni and Giovanna Arnolfini

suggest a symbol of gender roles as the woman is standing next to the bed as the housewife and

A husband stands next to the window as the moneymaker

Remember Giovanni was a wealthy merchant in Bruges. As you can see

Giovanna looks at him directly

In the other side

Giovanni is looking at the audience

With his hand raised

showing that he has power and

Taking oath in their marriage

You can tell that he is a dominant one in the relationship

Based on Flemish marriage customs it is possible that

Giovanna did not have any power or control on

Who she would marry.

Brides are usually much younger than grooms

Women as young as 14 are often married to men in their thirties

partially to ensure their Brides virginity.

Marriage customs are arranged for both sides of the family to boost their financial fortunes.

Another symbol of power of the husband over the wife is when the groom takes off his shoes in the Middle Ages

It was quite usual for the man to give his future bride

His clogs. As you can see Giovanni gave

Giovanna his clogs. To show that he was the dominant one in the marriage

On the lower half of this painting you can see a brown furry dog

Staring at the viewer

Dogs in painting usually

indicates loyalty and companion

It also shows how much money you have

You can understand why Jan van Eyck in concluded.

The dog in the portrait

It is a reflection of their marriage of having loyalty and companion in their lives.

Consuming oranges in your household are another way of showing off your wealth in

Bruges oranges are rare and expensive because they are imported

the oranges have many health benefits and doctors recommend to have in your diet as

I mentioned before the plague was a dangerous disease and

Oranges was a great way to fight off disease

Another example of how Giovanni and Giovanna

Reflect, wealth was their exotic furniture such as their luxury pattern woven rug

Woven wool was increasing worldwide market and luxury goods

Giovanna died in 1433 a year before the painting is Dated.

It is possible that the portrait is not a wedding photo, but honoring her because she died

The mirror is an age-old symbol of that the portrait combines death and time

The border of the mirror displays ten tiny illustrations of suffering, death, and the rebirth of Christ

if

You look closely, you can see the only the only lit candle in the chandelier

this represents the embody of Christ the one lick handle can also suggest an

all-seeing eye of God

It has been proposed that this is a memorial

Portrait the lit candle represents the living man while the burnt out stub to the right is a metaphor for decrease

Giovanna

Above the mirror you can see Jan van Eyck's latin signature that translates as "Jan van Eyck was here

1434" I

Believe this is important back then to capture precious moments and to have a family record

to show off their life legacy in the world forever in art.

Created my own artwork inspired by Jan van Eyck's, Arnolfini Portrait

To begin, the oranges symbolize wealth and health.

Me and my partner are not married, but we hold hands to express support

connection and trust.

the lit candle is the light in the darkness in life and

To be grateful for life and have hope

Jan van Eyck's Arnolfini Portrait shows wealth, power, and marriage

but I think Jonathan Ike's message is also to keep and record of the important events and

people in our lives like

Today we like to capture pictures of ceremonies

birthdays, parties

marriages and holidays because they matter in our lives

iPhone Touch Screen Not Working? Here's Why & The Fix! - Duration: 3:50.

Hi guys, David and David here from Payette Forward and in this video we're going to explain

what to do when your iPhone touchscreen is not working.

Now before we dive into the fixes, I just want to talk real quick about how a touchscreen

works.

It doesn't detect force, but the way it works is it detects changes in the electrical current

that occur in the screen.

So your body as you may have heard is made up of mostly water which is a conductor of

electricity.

So when you put your finger on the screen, it detects a change in electrical current

because there's this giant grid that's going across back and forth and it knows where your

finger is based on the change in electrical current.

So if you've ever tried to use a glove playing golf training, you know, make it you know,

it's winter on right or if you have like exceptionally dry skin.

I've seen that happen before if it can't uh detect the changes that electricity, you know,

you're in trouble.

So let's say that your fingers are perfectly fine.

They probably are.

You've tested them with other iPhones, right?

So first thing we want to do is make sure your iPhone screen isn't frozen.

To do that, we'll do a hard reset.

And if your iPhone screen is frozen, it will restart your iPhone and everything be fine.

So even iPhone 6 or older, yeah, right, uh, press and hold the side button and the home

button together at the same times of the Apple logo appears release both buttons your iPhone.

Make sure you hold it together for long enough.

A lot of times people don't do that.

On Phone 7, it's the power button and the volume down button, right.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone X — It's you gotta press the volume up button, the volume button,

and then just hold that side button until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

There we go fabulous...going on.

So you hard reset your iPhone and it's still freezing sometimes and touchscreen still isn't

working.

Sometimes it could be a specific app you open that happen all of a sudden everything just

stops working in that case.

It's probably a problem with that app specifically, so we want to delete that out.

We're gonna find an alternative for instance if you're using You might want to switch over

to you know, fowl locator sure and so real quick to delete the app on your iPhone gently,

press and hold the app icon.

If you press down too hard, let go and try again quite Active touch access will appears

tap the X. Yeah tap delete.

Delete the app on your iPhone.

See you later.

Yeah.

All right.

Okay, it's not a specific app not a specific app.

Next thing we're going to do is from a dfu restore on your iPhone.

Essentially, what we're doing here is we're eliminating the possibility that it's a software

problem with your iPhone before we say, okay.

Maybe it's a hardware problem.

And this is what they'll do.

If you go to an Apple store to a dfu restore stands for device firmware update and it's

the most deep type of iPhone restore you can do if it is a software problem that's causing

this a dfu restore will fix it.

And we have a great video on how to dfu restore your iPhone.

We will link to that in the card up here one of these sides.

Yeah, see if you restored your iPhone and it's still touch screen Souls of working time

to look for your repair options.

So if your iPhone is under warranty and not damaged Always recommend the Apple Store.

Yeah, if it's not under warranty or it is damaged, uh Puls is a third-party iPhone repair

service that comes to you and meet you wherever you are and they offer lifetime warranties

and fixes now say have a nice day.

We will link to both of those options and description of this video and that is what

to do when your iPhone Touch Screen isn't working.

Thank you guys for watching this video.

Give it a thumbs up if you found it helpful, or if you really enjoy that intro about the

electrical grid on your iPhone's screen.

Great.

Yeah interesting stuff, right?
