land mock hop team today and we're gonna be showing you the new woodland critters
set as well Tilly's gonna be helping give me some techniques - and we're also
last week we hopped around for the new release creating this heads up card with
more Copic techniques so check that video out - which will be linked in that

so today we're using the spring woodland critters from the new la-la-land release
I've already stamped out my scene using the lawn fawn jet black so I'm going to
use my alcohol markers to color them in so I will link up the marketing video in
the top right hand corner but I started off stamping out my Fox and my little
creature down here things might be a squirrel
so I've stamped him out down here with his big bushy tail and then I've stamped
my fawn afterwards I applied the mass on these two and then I stamped out my
lovely little deer here and when you mask and you want to create a sea you
always want to start with the creatures that there we in the front and then work
your way backwards sometimes it easier to put your stamps on take a snap with
your phone and then and put them down in order but I will link up that masking
video so to color them in I'm going to be using my Copic markers and so I'm
going to grab some colors to start off our Fox so I'm going to be starting with
my Wyatt 20s and I will make sure all the colors are on the screen for you as
well
so now I'm going to show you how to add some extra texture into your Fox so you
can see I've colored her in and just using my basic Copic coloring techniques
and I've grabbed a piece of washcloth I buy a big pack from Ikea there are a few
dollars and then I just keep these in the craft room to clear up and also for
this technique so what I'm going to do is I'm going to add some of the Copic
various ink this is the blender solution you can buy it in a big bottle it's also
great for cleaning up around your craft room and what I've done is just add a
little bit of it onto my washcloth and you're going to put it over the top of
your Fox so just press down for a couple of seconds
lift up press down for a couple of seconds
lift up until you've gone all over the image and what that does is it gives you
a really mottled furry effect so if you look at your Fox now those blends blend
even better but it also gives you a dotty effect now you can go back and add
some more shading and keep repeating this process and you'll notice I'll do
it again when I start doing the rest of the tail I should mention I'm also
working on express it cardstock which is designed to work with copics and
underneath I just have a piece of regular Neenah solar white you can use
printer paper just you wants think porous underneath not a glass mat
because otherwise you will get a lot of bleeding in your ink and you'll notice
when I put that Copic various ink down I did get all those bleeds underneath so
do and work on something that gives your egg somewhere to go as well
I think I want to do with my gorgeous little critters here before we cut them
out is ground them so at the minute when I cut them out I've just looked like
they're floating in mid-air what we actually want to do is add some
background so that they look like they're sitting on something so I have
my Y g00 here and I'm just filling in the gaps between them like this and then
adding just a little bit so it doesn't look like they're sitting in the air
look like they're sitting on some green woodland so I'm just doing quite a light
coat here with my Y g00
and then I'm actually going to take my Y G 0 3 and I'm going to fill in some of
these darker areas so around anyway his tail is just round the bottom of that
basket so again it's just a little bit more realistic so I'm going around the
edge of this tail and then I'm going to go back with my Y G 0 0 and flick again
over it just to blend them out so it's a little bit darker but there's no harsh
lines the idea of doing these backgrounds is to not have harsh lines
so you'll notice here it's a bit more raggedy on the edge as opposed to being
just flat so now we've done that it's just these little bit more flicky so now
we've done that we're ready to cut our image and mount it onto our background
so now we've cut our image out I use the my favorite things double stitched
squares no the reason I went for these am i doing to do a matting layer is
because I actually stamped right image a little bit too close to the bottom
so rather than I could have cut it out my scan and cut would have been an
option I had lots of different things but I thought that this was perfect cuz
I lined this up with the edge of my card stuff at the bottom and it just that
stitch detail gives it a lovely finish as well i priest turned out one of the
new la-la-land backgrounds as well I just
love this tree trunk and on there is one this plus there's also smaller stamps in
there that you can layer up in to multiples as well so going to cut this
down to a matching piece of cardstock so first I'm gonna trim this little bit off
here so a matting layer for me is five and a quarter quite four inches so I'm
going to Swiss all this around this is the new Tim Holtz black guillotine fan
tonic I'll link this up I've been using it for a little while I really like the
sharp cuts it gifts and I also really like the fact things are eight and a
half by eleven and only in the compact cutter as well so there's my matting
layer I already have my cardstock base ready so this is half a piece of eight
and a half by eleven Neenah solar white scored up five-and-a-half and so I'm
going to add this piece on just with some sonic funky tape and you might hear
my little guy miss tilly trying to get in so I'm going to lay
this on now whenever I'm at layers on my card I always open up the cardstock if
you mat it when it's like this you'll find it's really bouncy and it's hard to
get a nice even mat so that's what I always do when I do this and then I'm
going to map this piece on here and I just need to work out which way I want
to go I think I'm going to go this way and I'm going to put it a little bit
higher up just so that you see these woodland pieces at the bottom and what
we're just going to add a little bit of color around this edge and I just
grabbed a little bit of the wall stain distress ink so just to give it a
little bit of an edge and to tie it in with that woodland dart feel I'm just
catching it here around the edge so you can see it's a really fine effect now
you can go thicker depending on what angle you put your powder the more kind
of tilted down once the pad is the more you're going to get on the outside I
want this to be fairly light it would be really pretty if you went a little bit
heavier maybe on the corners just to give it that rustic look and it would be
great if you put your daughters or your blending brushes out and you could do a
little bit more it would really highlight that stitched areas on there
as well I'm going to just stick with that it's enough for it to just pop on
that background as well so let's actually going to tilt it this way so
it's going to slightly go over the edge of the card maybe it would look better
this way so this is what I do when I create a card I want it to look like a
kind of candid photo and anything else so I'm gonna actually go with it this
way so to do that I'm going to add some foam on the back but I'm not going to
put it right to the edges so when I use my foam I use the big roll of scotch
tape and then I just cut myself four legs and I'm just going to put some
pieces down the middle here because I know that some of these corners are
going to stick out over the edge if I do have anything left over I just pop it on
the edge of my role here it keeps it nice and sticky and you can use it any
time so I'm just going this also means you get to see a little bit more of that
woodland background on that now sentiment wise there's lots of sentiment
in the set here so you've got your deer oh damn

I missed your birthday I'm going to go with the hello beautiful whenever I use
a photopolymer sentiment I pop it on my work surface I'm working on the Tim
Holtz class map and I pick it up with my acrylic block I
get much for us to print that way and it means that my sentiment is nice and
straight and of course you could put your friend print anywhere I'm just
going to pop it down in this corner here and so it looks like a little candid
photo cause it's stand up perfectly because we haven't gone over that edge
on the bottom if I do come this way I always find that it's difficult with
cars that don't stand up I like to have one solid edge so that they're nice and

Welcome to CNN 10.
Last Friday, we said it was scheduled to happen and it happened. But even some Koreans say
it`s hard to believe.
For the first time since fighting stopped in the Korean War in 1953, a North Korean
leader stepped into South Korean territory. The historic
summit between the two nations` leaders have been planned for weeks and they made some
potentially world-changing promises -- to completely get rid
of nuclear weapons on the Korean peninsula, to call for a formal end to the war that started
in 1950.
According to South Korean President Moon Jae-in`s office, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un also
promised to shut down his nuclear test site in May
and invite experts and journalists from South Korea and the U.S. to come make sure it was
close.
There is some controversy around that. Chinese scientists said last week that the test site
had been so badly damaged in nuclear explosions that it
might not be useful anymore. North Korea`s dictator says that`s not true, that parts
of it are in very good condition.
Either way, after all these apparent breakthroughs, analysts say there`s plenty of reason to proceed
cautiously. The U.S. President Donald Trump
says that even though the meeting between him and North Korea`s leader could happen
in weeks, it`s hard to predict how successful it will be.

BRIAN TODD, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): An extraordinary, dramatic walk and greeting.
For the first time, Kim Jong Un steps over the military demarcation line into South Korea.
Later, Kim talks about the gravity of that moment.
KIM JONG UN, NORTH KOREAN LEADER (through translator): As I was stepping over it, I
was thinking, why did it take so long, 11 years, to get to this
historic moment? And why was it so difficult to come here?
TODD: Veteran Korea watchers say it`s remarkable, given the tensions in this stand off not long
ago that the summit took place.
JAMIE METZL, FORMER NSC OFFICIAL: Just the fact that the leaders of North Korea and South
Korea are talking and that nuclear and missile tests have
stopped for now is a cause for optimism. The symbolism of this meeting is certainly important,
only a few short months ago we were deeply concerned
about armed hostility breaking out on the Korean Peninsula. Now, that threat has receded.
TODD: Kim and South Korean President Moon Jae-in set a goal of completely denuclearizing
the Korean Peninsula, a high hurdle, experts warned, because
that has two different meanings for both sides. For the U.S. and South Korea, it means Kim
completely dismantling his nuclear arsenal.
JUNG PAK, THE BROOKINGS INSTITUTION: For North Korea, they want the U.S. to remove its troops
from the Korean Peninsula and to stop threatening
North Korea with sanctions and to remove the sanctions.
TODD: Kim and Moon also pledged to bring a formal end to the Korean War, which will also
be challenging, analysts say, because the U.S. and China
would have to sign off on it, and because with the North Koreans, none of these deals
come without a price.
DEAN CHENG, THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION: The North Korean leadership doesn`t hold summit, unless
they think they will get something for it in return, in
some cases, literal cash. In other cases, it`s concessions and political benefit.
So, Kim Jong Un almost certainly is going to be pushing for an end to sanctions.
TODD: But for now, the two leaders are basking in the imagery. Among the moments which stand
out, Kim`s departing limousine planked by running
security agents, and Kim speaking candidly about transportation in his country.
KIM: It`s more convenient to come by airline. Our roads are uncomfortable. I know, because
I just came down here. I would greet you
at the airport, if you came by plane.
TODD: Moments that may not have unfolded some analysts believe if Kim hadn`t been alarmed
by President Trump`s volatility and his tougher stance
on North Korea.
CHENG: There`s been a lot more pressure placed on North Korea, and I do think that without
the pressure that he has been willing to place, it`s not
at all clear that North Korea would have been willing to change its stance.
TODD (on camera): Another dramatic moment in the summit came when Kim Jong Un said that
South and North Korea, quote, will be reunited as one country.
Analysts warned that for Kim, that means one country under his rule, something South Korea
and the United States would never accept.

AZUZ: At the National Football League`s 83rd annual draft held late last week, one of the
many headlines concerned a player named Shaquem Griffin.
The linebacker from the University of Central Florida lost his left hand at age 4. He had
a rare condition called amniotic band syndrome.
But that didn`t stop him from becoming the American Athletic Conference`s defensive player
of the year in 2016 and it didn`t stop him from becoming a
fifth round draft pick Saturday by the Seattle Seahawks.
The last and only other one handed player to be drafted in NFL history was Ellis Jones
in 1945.
Shaquem will join his twin brother Shaquill, who was drafted by the Seahawks last year.
It`s the first time that brothers were drafted by the
same team since 2001.
Football is America`s most popular sport.
In Brooklyn, a borough of New York City, Dr. Rob Gore is making headlines for something
called the Kings Against Violence Initiative, or KAVI. He
started it in 2009. It serves more than 250 people young people through anti-violence
programs in the Kings County Hospital Center as well as
schools and other places in the community. Dr. Gore is a CNN Hero.

DR. ROB GORE, CNN HERO: I don`t like pronouncing people dead. It`s probably the worst thing
that I have ever had to do. I want to preserve
life.
When I became an ER doctor, my patients looked just like. I want to preserve life. If I can`t
keep somebody alive, I`ve failed.
I grew up in Brooklyn. I got robbed when I was about 10 or 11 years old and it scared
me. Seeing a lot of the traumas that take place at work or
in the neighborhood, you realize, I don`t want this to happen anymore. I started looking
at violence as a public health problem.
KAVI is a violence intervention program. Our first goal is just to create this hospital-based
intervention, for people who`ve been shot and stabbed.
We don`t need to know who did it, that`s not our role. We aren`t police. What we`re doing
is being an advocate for the patient.
We want to make sure that they don`t come back for repeat injuries.
What`s wrong? I haven`t seen you in a while. You`ve been all right?
We created the KAVI school program to ensure that young people didn`t become patients.
How`s the break? Where did you go (ph)?
This is prevention.
So, what`s been going on in the world? We had a shooting just up the street from here.
If there`s something that another brother did or
something that a cop did, how do you feel about that?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: When I`m hearing things like that, it makes me feel like it could
happen to me, too.
GORE: We do usually workshops that focus on restorative justice, conflict resolution and
mediation.
It`s a support group.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It kind of puts fear in my heart because what do we do?
GORE: Conflict is not avoidable, but violent conflict is.
Is it always going to be, oh, I got nothing to do with it? But then all of a sudden, it
takes place on your block, with your cousin, what is it that
you can actually do?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Back in the day, everybody used their fist to fight. But now, everything
is situated around guns. There`s other ways to solve
problems.
GORE: We want to make sure they can learn how to process, deal with it, and overcome
it.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Growing up, I had problems with (INAUDIBLE). When physically you`re big,
you become a target for people and the only way that
I know how to deal with it was to retaliate.
GORE: How many are graduating?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: KAVI has taught me that you don`t have to be angry all the time, ready
to fight all the time. The change that I made like in my
life is crazy. My mentality back then was like, OK, like if I put on this tough guy
persona like, you know, nobody`s going to want to mess with me.
Now, it`s like I know it`s cool to be soft enough.
GORE: I see you`re going to college. This is -- this is good. This is why we do this
stuff. Just after you graduate, then we`ll finish with you.
We`re proud of you, man. This is good stuff.
The goal is to bring out their best selves.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I`m really excited of our own future.
GORE: This is really about the community in which we live. This is my home and I`m going
to do whatever is possible to make sure people can
actually thrive.

- I actually was born and raised
in the Rio Grande Valley, which is the southern tip of Texas
where the Rio Grande flows into the Gulf of Mexico.
And so I was trained as a political scientist
doing comparative politics, Latin America
and really my research had been on Mexico.
But about 10 years ago there was more and more literature
about the border, border politics.
You know, relationship between US and Mexico
and border politics, and then what happened
is that around 2006, between 2006 and 2008
a border wall was built in roughly 620 miles
along the US-Mexico border and part of that border wall
was built south of my hometown of Mission, Texas.
So I became, of course, very interested
not only because of my intellectual interest
but also my personal interest
since it now was actually affecting my hometown.
And so yeah, so my research started way before
Donald Trump brought up this issue of the border wall.
I think for me one of the frustrating things has been,
recently in the last couple of years,
has been that so many people are talking
about the border wall as if it were a new thing.
And in fact, the border wall that was built in 2008
was built as a result of two pieces of legislation.
One of them was the Real ID Act of 2005.
And the Real ID Act was mostly about
standardizing information on driver's licenses
across the country for purposes of security,
but there's also a provision in the Real ID Act
that gives the power to the head of DHS,
the head of Homeland Security to unilaterally ignore
any law that interferes with the construction
of barriers at the border as long as they're designed
to enhance national security.
The other important piece of legislation
is a 2006 secure wall act.
And in that piece of legislation Congress actually says
to DHS that they must build 613 miles of border wall, again,
to enhance national security.
In Texas you have a very long border.
You have, for example, land owners who have been very upset.
I can give one case study.
A village called Granjeno, Texas, which is again
in the southern tip of Texas in the Rio Grande Valley.
So they have complained bitterly
about their experiences with the 2006 Secure Fence Act
and they've had several complaints.
One is that the border wall that was built
actually divided their village in half.
And so again, this is a little town
that goes back to the 1700s, has a lot of historic value,
and is now cut in half by an 18- foot wall.
Another group that has been very upset
with the border wall, and again, this particular area
of the Rio Grande Valley, is environmentalists.
This area of South Texas
is a very unique place environmentally.
It looks superficially a lot like, perhaps, Florida
with a lot of palm trees, a lot of vegetation
and it's also a place that is home
to many endangered species of animals and plants.
So I think President Donald Trump and his supporters
have been calling for a border wall.
And what I find interesting is that
in that discussion you rarely hear
that we already have this 600- mile border wall.
I think that a lot of people in this country
either have forgotten about that wall
that was built 10 years ago, or were never aware of it.
And I think that there's still so much fear an anxiety,
which drives people to want a real visible barrier
that they could point to
that would be solving these problems.
And again, these problems are fear of terrorism,
so wanting to protect national security,
fear of the other, of the undocumented people.
Perhaps some people are worried
that this country will no longer
be a predominantly white country.
The idea that some people are trying to get here
and not waiting in line, not understanding
the intricacies of our immigration system
and I think in general, just thinking
that drug trafficking can be solved
by building a border wall, whereas we know, I think,
that we need to think hard about
the problems of addiction in this country.
The problems that these walls are supposed to address,
the problems are too complicated.
A lot of border scholars say that we actually in many ways
on purpose create these flawed projects at the border.
So on the one hand you have a border wall.
We already have one now.
Has it actually stopped drug trafficking?
Has it stopped undocumented immigration?
No, it has not.
If we add even more miles to the border wall
the same is going to continue, but that is because
you can't satisfy both sides at the same time.
Some people still want their cheap labor
or their products to go back and forth across the border.
Some people still want a closed border
because of their own anxieties.
I think I just hope that more people pay attention,
not necessarily just people who live on the border,
but pay attention to something like that fact
that the head of DHS has been given the right
to ignore any law as long as that person
is building a barrier at the border
that enhances national security.
We've already had over 30 laws waived.
Again, laws having to do with the environment,
with the protection of Native Americans and their property,
their lands and properties, the Clean Air Act,
the Endangered Species Act.
I think we need to think about the erosion
of our democracy in light of our focus on national security.

Sailing The Dream | #008 | Rabat Land of Pirates - Duration: 2:46.
In our previous episode, we imagined we had been transported to another Era while exploring Sale
on the north side of the Bouregreg riverbank and enjoyed some fun moments with Ella
swimming in the river shallows.
Now, it was time to cross the river and discover Rabat, the capital of Morocco.
Rabat is a modern city with good infrastructures, but we wanted to feel what was like on the
old days so we decided to use the fishermen blue water taxis that are still being used
by many locals everyday.
The experience of the slow pace crossing, the fisherman diving from some of these boats
to catch some fish, the view doesn't match the inexpensive cost of less
than a 1€ of round trip for two people.
We can totally understand the need for the pilot boat, not only because of the shifting
sandbars in the river entrance, but also to help navigate this full of life waterway.
We made our way to the Kashbah and we were very impressed with the restoration works done,
then we recognised it from one of the Mission Impossible movies!
Once we entered the Kashbah, we immediately noticed the number of cats, they seemed
to be very where lazying around, following the inhabitants, but what really impressed us
was the sudden change of temperature.
As we walked the narrow labyrinth lanes with its white and blue painted walls we could
feel much cooler than when walking else where in the city.
This place was full of charm, the enchanting little cats, the almost hidden house entrances
and the puzzling goat in the middle of the lane that seemed to be in the same place every
day we visited.
Finally, we reached the top of the Kashbah, to the same point where centuries before
the Sultan of Rabat would come to see his pirates leave to raid all the way up to
the coast of Portugal and Spain.
We would come here often to see the sea because the port closes to navigation
when there's a 2 meter swell.
But now it was time to enjoy more traditional delicacies.
The days passed and we continued to go to the Rabat Kashbah, to enjoy the views while
waiting for the right conditions to leave.
Fog rolled in, the swell remained high and the river entrance closed
and so we waited and waited.
Despite the bad conditions in the river entrance we enjoyed many amazing sunsets that
we will never forget,
but just like that, one morning we woke up and got told the harbour would open in
a couple of hours, so it was time to leave.
We were about to embark in our biggest adventure up to then, a real offshore passage, almost
500 nautical miles into the Atlantic Ocean.
