iPhone 8 Plus Review - The Small Details - Duration: 6:49.

The iPhone 8 nobody seems to care about it yet

It's gonna sell millions of units and honestly if you're in the market for a new iPhone. You should seriously consider the eight

Here's why I'm Jason with Maslin tech, and this is my review of the iPhone 8

Before we get started leaving a like and comment on this video will get you a chance to win one of those bags

I looked at in my last video plus the whole video was shot on this iPhone now on to the review

Initially I was going to start writing this review two days after I got the phone

But life got busy and two days turned into two weeks. I'm glad too because my opinions on the phone have changed drastically

I'm going into this review assuming. You know the basics about the iPhone line so instead of talking over every point

I'm gonna talk about the biggest changes. I noticed moving from the iPhone 7 plus

first the fit and finish

the biggest change this year

Visually is that the rear of the phone went from an aluminum back to a glass back to allow wireless charging

I haven't used wireless charging yet myself, but the new clean glass back is still appreciated

with only the Apple logo and the word iPhone on the back the phone has a

Monolithic look to it the back is a bit grippier than the last few generations

But I found myself pulling my phone out of my pocket facing the wrong way

Though that's not a terrible thing because the front of the phone looks just like every other iPhone since 2014 and let's be honest

This looks stale

Booting up the phone for the first time immediately introduced me to two new features the first was an extremely easy migration

In most cases I noticed the screen appeared a little warmer with true turn-on, but not offensively warm

Now before digging into the biggest changes. I want to address performance

If I had written this review after two days of use I would have told you that the phone is faster

But not in any appreciable way now. I still slightly stand by that statement, but let me tell you why?

By now you may have seen everyone talk about how the Geekbench scores for the iPhone 8

Completely destroys any other phones and that the processor is nearly twice as fast as last year

That's great and all but I OS doesn't really reflect that

animations are slightly smoother

But apps don't really load any faster the iPhone 7 was never really wanting for performance and as it stands

IOS is really holding back the iPhone 8 hardware from showing its muscle

But what it did notice after a few more days is that nothing really seemed to stress out my 8 plus

IPhone 7 and 7 plus would get warm and occasionally flat out hot under load something like Pokemon

Go which uses GPS your camera and renders 3d visuals simultaneously would really heat up the seven

This wasn't really the case for the eight

I never really felt that the eight plus was struggling to run everything and this leads to the first big upgrade for the iPhone eight

battery life

More specifically the battery is more stable on my iPhone 7 plus

Scrolling through Twitter or reading something on Reddit wouldn't really push the battery and I may get six or more hours of screen on time

But watching youtube videos would drop that number to around four with the eight plus

Almost every task seems to run the battery evenly with the exception of GPS

I'm 15 days and owning my 8 plus and have never hit below 20% battery on any given day where I'd hit below 20%

One or two days a week previously on top of the extra longevity the iPhone 8 models also now support fast charging

But don't get too excited the entry price of $700 to get an iPhone 8 isn't enough to warrant a quick charger in the box

Apparently Apple's fast charging solution will cost you an extra $80

But you can get the benefits of fast charging for less than half of that if you go third-party

Lastly, let's talk about the camera the iPhone 8 plus has an astounding camera

No other way to say the rear cameras hardware has improved over last year

But camera kit is only half the equation Apple went all in on the software side of the camera as well

Taking regular photos is just as quick as ever and with better results in low-light

Pictures constantly came out crisp and HDR is just on by default

Allowing for impressive photos and just about any harsh lighting conditions

Apple's portrait mode also gains some new tricks via software, but in my opinion

They're more miss than hit more impressively though portrait mode now shoots faster and finds its subjects quicker

Video also makes some impressive gains 4k video can now be shot at 24 and 60 FPS on top of the standard 30

slow-mo can now shoot at 240 FPS at 1080p

Which looks wild?

Both 4k 60 and 1080p 40 require you to manually enable the iPhone to shoot in high efficiency mode

While the results are impressive high efficiency video is also less compatible requiring an iOS 11 or Mac OS High

Sierra device to play and edit means sharing with friends and family can be a little cumbersome

Overall though Apple killed it with the iPhone 8 plusses camera

It's fast and almost always produces impressive results for example. I went to a concert the weekend

I got the phone and it captured the audio and video in a noisy crowded low lit room effortlessly

Which was shot entirely on the 8 plus so that's my experiences with the 8 plus?

It's a shame the design is so similar to the iPhones in the past few years

Because under the hood it's a beast of a phone the iPhone 10 secure the design fatigue

But if you don't mind some larger bezels the iPhone 8 and 8 plus are fantastic phones
