games in any form are exciting entertaining and generally make us feel
good from the day we were born we exposed to the various types and forms of games as a
kid I remember how excited I was watching the World Cup in the old TV the
joy of seeing players from my national team representing my country was
incredible and I still get those feelings watching them play today now
before we continue I'd like you all to know I make new videos every week on
Thursdays and Sundays so please hit the like button and subscribe to the channel
for more content over the years companies like Nintendo Atari
Playstation Microsoft and several others have sought to personalize those
experiences we acquired from watching various types of games and sports and
it has led to development of video games as we know them today as our technology
grew so did the quality of gaming experiences produced by these
companies from the first black-and-white 2d games like pong in 1972 to the first
3d game which was 3d monster maze back in 1981 we've moved on to complex
lifelike games like Far Cry and rise of the Tomb Raider there can be no doubt
that the gaming industry has seen its fair share of technological evolution
and gamers have enjoyed every moment of it so far
so what comes next currently mobile games are addictive but cannot compete
with the emotional attachment console games give a player and this is where
augmented reality and virtual reality will step in to bridge the gap these two
technologies are at the cutting edge of future advancements and will likely be
mentioned quite a lot in my future videos but today we'll consider how they'll
bring mobile gaming to it full potential for the uninitiated augmented reality
overlays virtual 3d graphics onto our surroundings modifying the way we see
everyday objects while remaining in the background as a carry-on with our
everyday tasks virtual reality however immerses us in totally new synthetic
worlds with 360-degree views and little to no sensory imputes from
environments around us while they would have their strengths error is likely to
come out on top in the gaming industry largely because
it'll look to augment our current world rather than try to replace it players
been allowed to interact with friends or carry on with their daily lives without
any significant disruption from the game they play would be a huge win on the
side of AI as we can already see with games like Pokemon go
this doesn't mean VR won't get a significant piece of the pie though as it
would offer gamers an immersive experience AI could not possibly
provide imagine Grand Theft Auto but as a 3d world almost indistinguishable from
reality the virtual reality headset to the future will also bring collaborative
gaming to a whole new level games like qbg and overwatch already
allow collaboration between gamers from thousands of miles away through the
internet but the next generation of VR games will reach far beyond the current
parameters of gaming things like virtual meetings within a game with friends or
business associates from all across the world will become common with the
introduction of better visuals will come new and intuitive ways to play games
natural user interface is the new holy grail of gaming with Sony and Microsoft
currently working hard on developing their own motion control technologies to
compete with the huge strides made by Nintendo Wii the last decade in an
attempts to appeal to an ever widening audience of casual gamers the
advancements probably won't stop with motion control as other technologies
like expression detection mind and speech controls are currently in the
works mind control environments are the
ultimate goal for game developers basically interfaces which would remove
the barrier between human thoughts and a controllable object in a gaming
environment the boston-based startup called New Robo is developing a virtual
reality game that can be played with the mind their brain computer interface
registers event-related potentials which are more specific signals that occur
when the brain responds to stimuli this method of mind control allows for
intention based interactions which is necessary for gaming when asked New Robo
CEO stated that their first game known as awakening would likely be released
sometime in 2018 we've talked about the visuals the controls but we can't forget
that gaming is a highly Hardware intensive function for any device to
perform for a manufacturer standpoint a truly high-end gaming rig should ideally
cost somewhere around fifteen hundred to two thousand dollars but let's think of
this from the consumers perspective for a moment
video games are mainly for entertainment unless you're a developer designer or
game journalist chances are that gaming is nothing more than a pure hobby to you
you need no monetary compensation worth mentioning as such the idea of spending
thousands of dollars each year on video games comes out as downright ludicrous
to most the solution to this is cloud computing we've already discussed the
possibilities of cloud computing in a previous video but it's just as relevant
to gaming in the future a gamer would only need to pay a relatively low monthly
subscription to gain access to high-end cloud servers these servers will be
capable of running the most performance intensive games at a steady framerate
and show the content back to your VR headset at 8k resolution with zero
latency a company known as liquid sky is already achieving this on some level
their platform allows gamers play performance intensive desktop games such
as Witcher 3 and Call of Duty on their Android or Windows device although their
monthly subscription pricing isn't exactly cheap and they have had issues
with latency it's the first step that could lead to our promised gaming
Utopia at the very extremes of gaming innovation we could see the emergence of
large holographic gaming rooms which would make a player a literal part of
the game obstacles and landscapes could be created in seconds using light
constructs allowing gamers to carry out different
tasks within a designated area at this point it's pretty clear the
games of the future will challenge our grasp of reality unlike anything we've
seen before and I for one can't wait to see that future come to be
