What are comfort foods?
How To Beat Food Cravings?
Hi, guys, This is dr.Fox from the Fox's Power Basement.
Please, like and subscribe.
Cravings are inevitable, especially when you diet.
When you limit your intake of foods, you feel you want them even more.
The extent of your cravings depends on how severe the changes to your eating habits.
Achieving weight-loss success means finding a way to cope with your cravings.
First we have to understand food cravings, and what comfort foods are.
The phrase "comfort food" has been around at least as early as 1966.
This broad term is often defined as any food that a person uses to feel better.
Usually, some universal things come to mind: ice cream, mashed potatoes, French fries,
and other simple, often indulgent meals or snacks.
When you're under pressure, your body releases the hormone cortisol, which signals your brain
to seek out rewards.
Comfort foods loaded with sugar and fat basically apply the brakes to the stress system
by blunting this hormone.
When you reach for food in response to negative feelings such as anger or sadness, you inadvertently
create a powerful connection in your brain.
One popular myth is that people crave certain foods to fill a nutritional deficiency.
It's a naive view that cravings represent wisdom of the body.
Research has shown that people have cravings
even with a diet that's adequate in calories and nutrients.
Gender seem to play a big role.
Men are more likely to crave pizza and pasta, while women tend to want hassle-free snacks,
such as candy, cookies, ice cream, and chocolate.
Certain emotions, including stress, sadness, and boredom, can promote cravings.
But happy moods might be even more likely culprits.
In a survey of about 1,000 Americans, 86% craved comfort foods when they were happy,
and 74% had cravings when they wanted to celebrate or reward themselves.
Only 52% had cravings when they were bored and 39% when they were sad or lonely.
How to beat food cravings?
Willpower isn't the answer.
These urges are fueled by feel-good brain chemicals such as dopamine, released when
you eat these types of foods, which creates a rush of euphoria
that your brain seeks over and over.
What you need is a plan that stops this natural cycle, and helps prevent unwanted weight gain.
It's my opinion that comfort foods do not really comfort you, since you keep on wanting
them more and more, over and over again.
If you're on a diet, don't exaggerate the caloric deficit.
If you're eating fewer than 1000 calories a day or restricting an entire food group,
like carbs, you're putting your body in prime craving mode.
Even just 3 days of strict dieting
decreases levels of the appetite-reducing hormone leptin by 22%.
Exaggerated or too severe self-imposed food rules often backfire.
Drink water when cravings strike.
Water is an effective appetite suppressant.
When your body tries telling you it's hungry for a certain food, drink a glass of water
and wait 10 minutes.
Your hunger and craving should go away.
Eat the food you crave, but less often.
You should never tell yourself you cannot have a certain food again, but instead you
should learn to control or manage your craving rather than think of food as forbidden.
Making certain foods off-limits can lead to obsessing and bingeing.
Continually eating the food you crave only strengthens the habit.
But going cold turkey is not a good idea either.
Feeling deprived of a favorite food often backfires, and you end up eating too much.
So try to fit a little bit into your calories and macros once in a while.
Use portion control.
Allow yourself to have a food, but do it in a portion-controlled way.
For example, don't keep tempting food at home, because it's too easy to eat excessive amounts.
Instead, go out for one scoop of ice cream or one slice of pizza.
Portion out a serving.
If you don't have the energy to fight the craving, try this trick: Before you dig in,
dole out a small amount of the food you want on a plate and put the rest away.
Trick yourself.
If portion control doesn't work for you, especially if tempting foods are on hand, hide the food
in the back of a cupboard; don't keep it on a kitchen counter or in plain sight.
Sometimes, when my wife and children are eating something that I can impossible fit into my
calories and macros, I just tell them "I don't want to see it".
Substitute a healthier food.
You may be dying for that chocolate ice cream, but eating something that's healthier will
eliminate that craving almost as effectively.
For instance, eating soft curd cheese might satisfy you as much as if you did splurge
on the ice cream.
The sense of satisfaction might not happen immediately or even in 5 minutes, but it will
kick in 15 to 20 minutes later.
Just make sure to eat an amount equal to the volume of the desired food.
Another thing I personally do is eat everyday 30grams of black 85% chocolate, sweetened
with Stevia, which is much healthier and lower in calories than the very sweet milk chocolate
I used to eat in almost unlimited amounts, a few years ago,
when my bodyfat % was much higher.
That way I know I get the taste of chocolate everyday,
but in a much healthier and controlled manner.
Do something else.
Distract yourself with a non-food-related activity until the craving goes away.
This could be taking a walk, doing some pushups or calling a friend.
Cravings are fleeting, so they'll diminish or go away within an hour, if not sooner.
But don't wait it out passively.
An activity that's "somewhat absorbing" will help you resist.
Another good idea, especially when a food craving strikes as a reaction to emotional
stress is to put some upbeat music on.
This provides a distraction and an emotional release.
Make a plan.
The most dangerous cravings are the ones that are chronic and repetitive.
Let's say that on most days, around a certain hour, you crave a specific comfort food.
It's better to have a plan in that case.
Make sure to have low calorie, healthy alternative on hand, ready to eat when the craving strikes.
Or make it routine to take a walk at that time.
If your cravings occur at specific times of the day,
align your exercise routines with these times.
Cut back on processed foods.
Processed foods contain excess sugar, sodium and fat, which increase your dependence on
unhealthy foods.
Reducing your consumption of processed and frozen foods and increasing your intake of
natural fruit sugars can reduce your cravings while dieting.
Get enough sleep.
Research showed that a few sleepless nights were enough to drop levels of the hormone
leptin, which signals satiety, by 18% and boost levels of ghrelin, an appetite trigger,
by about 30%.
Those two changes alone caused appetite to kick into overdrive, and cravings for starchy
foods like cookies and bread jumped 45%.
As said in a previous video, going earlier to bed not only provides you with more hours
of sleep, but also prevents watching television and
being tempted to overeat on high-calorie snacks.
If you do have to watch a certain movie or television show, watch it in your basement
or bedroom so you're far away from the kitchen full of snacks.
The brain loves routine.
Seemingly innocent routines, such as eating cookies or popcorn while watching TV, create
powerful associations.
Have some caffeine.
It can help you get through the day without any high-calorie pick-me-ups.
It's a good short-term fix until you get back on track.
Picture yourself healthy.
Try following "stop technique": Every time the food you crave pops into your head,
think, Stop!
Then, picture a healthy image of yourself, lean and fit.
After a while, your brain will dismiss the food image and the craving will subside.
I hope you enjoyed this video.

Você Come Isso Todos os Dias? + Treino de Ombros / What if you eat this everyday? + Shoulder Workout - Duration: 5:40.
Good Morning Beautiful People!
How are you?
I woke up today.... not feeling guilty
but I woke up just thinking that I need to workout today!
I've eaten half of a chocolate bar
Caio gave to me for Valentine's
It was a sugar free chocolate, but I ate a lot!
I woke up a little bloated!
So, today I'm gonna workout
... and do you want to hear more?
It has been 3 days I'vent gone to the club
My doctor would be so proud of me!
I'll train upper body
I'm gonna take you guys with me!
Will make my breakfast, and I'll tell you why I eat it everyday
Last few days my dad was complaining about high cholesterol
So, I started checking out some foods which would help to lower cholesterol naturally
and help him with healthier diet
I've found out that OATS
It's one of the best food to lower cholesterol
Wow! I eat oats everyday, I didn't know that
I keep digging more info...
It's not just about cholesterol...
My Oatmeal...
Man! It's good stuff
So glad I eat everyday! And I like it
It contains...
Magnesium
Iron
Vitamin B
as well...
It also has soluble fiber
that's why when we make it's like a paste
gooey...
It's like a gel
The soluble fiber is Beta-Glucan
You can find all links from my research here below:
It you want to get more info... It's cool!
Researches are in English!
So, It's like a gel in your intestines...
It's like a gooey paste
The "gooey paste" helps to
avoid our body to absorb cholesterol in your intestines
the "gooey paste"
feeds the good bacterias from your intestines too
Improves your imune system too
So you have an idea...
if you eat 70g of oats
It contains 3g of Beta-Glucan
It reduces 7% of cholesterol...
You eat the old fashioned oats
In this case it's better than quick oats or flour
Old fashioned oats has lower glycemic index
and more Beta-Glucan
Just so you know...
There is an experiment
done in 2013
link is below
in U.S.
the group of people (subject) who ate oats
Gained less body fat, compared to the other group
during the same period...
and accumulated less abdominal fat...
It also helps liver function!
You eat oats too!
I'm not only saying you should eat bugs
as on my previous videos
If you can't eat crickets!
Enough talking about food!
Oats are good for muscles...
Eat oats!
Now I'm leaving the house....
I gotta go to Target and get a baby shower present,
To the gym, as I mentioned before
and I also need
have my nails done
It's so bad
and I think I'm gonna do acrylic nails
do you know why?
because I keep biting my fingers
but I don't bit my fingernails...
I actually bit my fingers!
Man! It's so horrible!
When I have acrylic nails
I don't bit my fingers, so I think it's better...
I'm gonna have it done and then I will show you
ok?
kisses... see you soon
I live so close to Target
I'm glad I'm not a consumerist
otherwise I'd be in trouble and broke
I'm going to the nails salon
but I don't have cash on me
I've only credit card
I need cash for tip
I came to the bank
The good thing is I don't have to leave the car
I'm stupid man!
I've to open the door to reach the machine
Super practical
For smart people tho...
I't noon already!
I actually didn't have breakfast yet
I decided to have breakfast now
Look at my nails
I think it's cool
At least I'm not gonna bit my fingers...
It's the acrylic ones
It lasts longer
I love purple
ok, I'm going to the gym now
you guys are coming with me
I'm eating my oatmeal now
hey look how cool
It was new Year's yesterday
for some Asian countries
the girls who does the nails are from Vietnam
They gave a lucky card
because of the New Years celebration
It's a dollar
Lucky dollar
So cool huh?
They gave to their clients
wow! a dollar for all customers
I thought it was fake
but It's real
Wow! It's real
You have your nails done and get a dollar!
I couldn't record all my training
the phone's memory got full
well, I just got home
I'm gonna prepare my post workout meal
and I have to leave to help a friend of mine with his stuff
because he's moving from California to Minnesota!

What is a Virtual Tour | Selling Your House in Savannah - Duration: 3:42.
What is a virtual tour when you're selling your house? That's what we're
talking about today and we are starting right now. Hey everyone, welcome back to
my channel. I'm Karin Carr, a Realtor® in Savannah, Georgia with Keller Williams. If
this is your first time here and you are interested in all things real estate in
the Savannah area, be sure to hit the subscribe button and that little bell for
notifications. I post new videos every Monday and you don't want to miss
anything. So what exactly is a virtual tour and how does it help you sell your
house quickly? Well first let's talk about what a virtual tour is not. This is
a bunch of pictures that the photographer took or maybe even the
agent took that have been stitched together in a slideshow and set to music.
This is not a virtual tour, yet this is what the vast majority of Realtors out there do for their clients.
Is there any drone video, is there any 360° video? No.
This is really just a slideshow of the same photos that are on Zillow and
Realtor.com and every other website. So what do I mean when I say a virtual tour?
I mean an actual video, not a slideshow, a video as we are walking through the
house. We get to see the layout. the floor plan, how the rooms flow into one
another. We get to see some drone footage, what's around the house, what's behind
the house. Let's see some shots of the neighborhood.
Is there a community pool, is there a playground, is there a golf course? Let's
see some of that as well. My favorite thing though is a 360 degree virtual
tour where it's kind of that 3d experience. The viewer feels like they're
really inside that house. They are able to spin the picture in a complete sphere.
They can look up and see your coffered ceilings, they can look down and see your
beautiful floors, they can turn the picture in a complete circle. When we're
on Zillow and we look at a picture of the kitchen, yes it's beautiful, but can
we tell whether it's closed off from the living room? Not necessarily. It depends on
the photos that the photographer took. What's the benefit for you? If the viewer
watches this video and they still make an appointment to come see your house in
person then we know they really liked it. They're probably not going to be a tire
kicker. They're not going to waste your time. You're not gonna spend an hour
cleaning your house only to have them cancel at the last minute because they
drove up and decided that they didn't like the neighborhood so they don't even
need to get out of the car. Trust me, that happens all the time. So
it's a great time-saver for you. It gets rid of all the looky-loos, so maybe
instead of having 10 showings you might only have four but the four who come are
going to be very serious prospective buyers for you. So now you know exactly
why it's so important to have a true virtual tour of your property online
when you're trying to sell. But would you like to see one in action? No problem.
Click the link below and I'll show you exactly what I'm doing for one of my
other clients. We are holding a virtual open house. Click the link and you'll see
exactly what the buyers see. Thank you so much for watching! If you like this video

What's a solar eclipse ? - Duration: 3:05.
Hello
My name is Mohamed Boublouh . I'm 17 years old from Agadir city in Morocco
Today , I will talk about the solar eclipse
So , what's a solar eclipse ?
A solar eclips is a cosmic phenomenon that happens when a moon moves between the earth and the sun blocking all or some of the sun's rays from reaching the earth by cosmic chance
even though the sun is 400 times wider than the moon , it's also 400 times farther away . therefore the two objects apear the same size in our sky .
Astronomers are able to predict eclipses because the earth and the moon have predictable orbits. Why then isn't there an eclipse every month ?
The moon's orbit is usualy tilted a few degrees north or south in relation to the earth , when the the moon does eclipes the sun it casts two types of shadows on earth
, a smaler darker shadow known as the Umbra and a larger shadow knowen as the penumbra .
Now that I have defined the eclipse, I will move on to its types .
There are four types of solar eclipses , the first and most spectacular is a total eclipse when the moon completely covers the sun's surface
. A total eclipse can only be seen if you're standing within the Umbral shadow .
people within the penumbral shadow see only a partial eclips ( the second type )
from this view outside the path of totality the moon passes in front of the suns off-center , never fully covering its surface
Third , an annular eclipse occurs when the moon passes derectly in front of the sun , however a total eclipse the moon appears too small to fully cover the sun
Last , a hybred eclipse is when the moon's position between the earth and sun is so finely balanced that the curvature of the earth plays a role .
So why do people say it's dangerous to look at a solar eclipse?
Well, in general (during non-eclipse times), you've probably been told not to stare at the sun. This is because the sun simply outputs more power than our eye is designed to handle
and exposing our eye to that kind of power can damage the retina.
You actually can safely look at a total solar eclipse while the sun is totally blocked by the moon, but staring derectly at the sun during an eclipse can cause solar retinopathy
symptoms of solar retinopathy include loss of visual sharpness and blind spots and changes in color vision or distortion when loking at straight lines or grids
Finally , thanks a lot for watching . Don't forget to subscribe .

What You Want to Hear vs The Truth - Duration: 4:02.
We all have that friend that validates your opinion and then that that b**** that hits you
with the truth.
okay guys what do you think about my outfit? I bought this piece for work but
I think it'll work for my date night. It's really warm but comfortable.. I mean
I think it's really cute. What do you guys think? You know what, I love it. You
can totally make it work. You can accessorize it, wear really cute boots
with it... I think you should wear it for your date.
It's a f**** blanket. It is the worst thing I've seen! Take it off, take it off.
So you know the guy I've been dating? I am not really sure where it's going. I
mean, he said he didn't want a relationship but he's always texting me
and asking me for nudes. You know, I think I really like him and I think I can
make it work. What do you guys think? Aw! It sounds like he really really likes
you otherwise he wouldn't be asking for all those nudes!
I think you can totally make this work. He wants a relationship with you.
You're out of your mind. This guy is using you completely using you.
You're better off opening this, drinking the whole bottle, and leaving
that guy in the dust. Done. Okay guys I'm thinking about quitting my job I don't
really have a plan for a new job but it feels like I should just quit. I think
you should just follow your heart and if your heart is telling you to quit your
job then quit your job! Everything will work out. I'm sure you'll get another one
soon, and your parents love you. You can totally move back in with them in the
worst-case scenario. Are you serious that's so f***** stupid
What are you gonna make a video and become famous on YouTube? Why don't you
just go find a sugar daddy and make him pay all your bills. This is ridiculous.
Well if I'm not gonna quit, then I need to take off like three weeks and go find
myself. I watched this movie about this girl who did a big backpacking trip
I mean I think I can do something like that. I mean I walk from my car to
the house, back from the house to my car and I go
shopping all day..I can totally backpack, you know, for like three weeks straight.
Do yoga every morning... Find myself. Oh! I read that same book I think you should
do that. It would be so cool! I'm sure you'll get in shape, like, while you're
doing it. You'll get stronger, your legs will get stronger..you're gonna love it.
You'll find out so much about yourself! I think it's a great idea. That's just
ridiculous. You think you're gonna hike around the mountains, and do yoga, and
find yourself? Girl, you're so lost you're never gonna find yourself. You're gonna
die up there and if you don't die, you'll get killed by
the bears. Shay, I love your purses! They're so pretty! You know I saw this
Birkin for only like $3,000. I'm thinking about getting it. I mean, I can't really
afford it, right now, but it'll go really well with this one outfit I have so like
what do you think? Should I get it? I think you should get it. I mean, you can
just put it on your credit card. You'll pay it off in like two months, easy and you
can buy clothes to then match the purse... so it would be more than just one outfit.
Are you serious? She just said she wanted to quit her job which you were fully in
support of. How is she supposed to pay her credit card off by buying a $3,000
bag that doesn't go with anything that she has including the blanket that she
bought as a shaw? Girl, you can borrow that one for as long as you want.
Thanks for watching guys I hope you like this video. If you did, give it a thumbs up and
please click Subscribe! Next week might be a little vlog about my backpacking
trip.. because I'm gonna go find myself! Bye! bye, bye!

What happens if you fall into a black hole? - Duration: 1:39.
what happens if you fall into a black hole depends on the size of the black
hole for example a black hole that's a few times heavier than the Sun around
the event horizon the gravitational field changes so dramatically that the
gravitational force that your head experiences would be completely
different to your feet causing you to be stretched out but the
gravitational attraction would be crushing you at the same time so you
undergo a process called spaghettification where you're stretched
and crushed until eventually you rip apart but somebody watching you would
see something quite different they'd see an image of you become magnified and
distorted and you'd begin to turn red until eventually an image of you is
frozen in time at the black hole's event horizon where you'd be incinerated by
its firewall but what happens if you cross the event horizon of a
supermassive black hole is something quite different as you drift through
space you could quite easily cross the event horizon of one of these enormous
black holes and not even realise and that's because the gravitational field
around it doesn't change so dramatically you could drift on through past the
event horizon falling deeper and deeper until eventually you are crushed at the
central singularity

What You Should Do When the News Feed Changes - Social Media Minute - Duration: 3:13.
Hi, I'm Jan Rezab this is Social Media Minute.
Obviously, you probably at this point
are aware of the News Feed changes that Mark Zuckerberg announced
and Facebook later went to explain what they're gonna be about.
If you didn't,
Facebook's gonna put a lot more friends in your News Feed.
Previously, they said there were too many pages.
We understand that
and we think it's a great thing for the user.
But what to do as a business?
I think it's very important, as a business, not to panic.
Understand that paid will still be on the News Feed.
There's probably gonna be no change at all to that.
But there are going to be changes
in the way that organic gets in the News Feed,
in the way that if you pay for a video,
how will organic determine the quality of that content
to be served on a better scale, to what audience, etc.
I think measurement is the most important thing
and benchmarking is the most important thing.
Let's say you're a company from the US in the fashion industry.
How do you understand that there's a big change happening
and there's a certain evolution.
The only way you can understand is not to look at your page and its insights,
that's, of course, the first step.
The second step is
you can go in, for example the Socialbakers platform,
check out benchmarks and understand
the total amount of engagement in an industry
to all sorts of types of content.
The number 1 thing you're looking for is
did a certain type of content just sort of drop?
If you add an industry level, you'll see this very nicely.
Number 2 is just general, total interactions of an industry.
If you understand the scale and size of an industry,
and if it just drops in interactions by 40%,
it likely means that it dropped by reach and other metrics
which means pages of that kind are being less visible in the News Feed.
Number 3, you have to monitor and understand ad benchmarks.
At Socialbakers, we have an ad benchmarking tool
where you can put in your ad account
and you can compare it with the industry averages.
For cost, for price, for the noisiness in your industry.
And number 4 is understand your country.
Facebook, in the past, rolled out these News Feed changes at a regional level.
When they tested the media changed in the News Feed,
they rolled it out into 10 countries.
You don't know if these changes will affect your region or your country
first or last.
You have to understand the benchmark of the country,
another thing you can see in Socialbakers.
You can easily see if you're going up, down, flat.
What about the industry, what about the region?
Only if you see all those three combined, can you really tell your boss
I am growing or I am keeping market share, or not.
As I said, big changes coming.
Keep an eye on the News Feed and watch our Social Media Minute
for live updates.
We'll also try and watch it for you and share the data as it happens.

What Does The Future Hold For Marriage? - Duration: 5:18.
the modern idea of marriage which usually involves lots of romance
acceptance and a happily ever after has largely been passed on from the movies
and shows we grew up watching but the truth is marriage for love is a very new
concept for us humans to be precise we only began to marry out of affection for
our companions at the dawn of the 21st century over the course of history
people have entered marital partnerships for various reasons with a list of these
reasons being for survival back then just over 23 thousand years ago
the males and females whose offspring were the most likely to survive were
those that formed the very first marriages European African and Asian men often had
multiple wives dating back as early as the medieval era and this practice was
seen as a symbol of wealth and virility several countries and religious faiths
still permit polygamous relationships but has largely been abandoned by most
of the modern world from all of this we can gather that marriage trends are
often dictated by the social religious technological and political situations
of that era so the question now is what factors will determine the marital
trends of our future society today has been heavily influenced by unparalleled
advances in science and technology social media and the commercialization
of everything these factors will most likely shape the marital unions of
tomorrow for example as medical technology
advances to a point where people no longer have to fear death or at least
live a full life well beyond what is feasible today it'll become necessary to
convert permanent marital partnerships to short renewable contracts most likely
in five-year increments or smaller two-year contracts with options to renew
at the end of this contract both parties will make the decision to stay and renew
or terminate the contract if the partnership is no longer as useful or
enjoyable as it was in the beginning we already renew and replace various things
in our lives when they no longer provide us with what we need or when we find
better options so why not our marital unions as well lifelong marriage vows
made sense in the past because we often didn't live that long the average life
expectancy in the 1800s for example hovered between 30 to 40 years
so getting wedded at the age of 16 or 18 as of then meant you were married for just 20
years on average which by today's standards only represents the infant
years of a modern marriage even without a significant extension of our lives in
the near future it will still make sense for such contractual based marriages to
become mainstream for one the happily ever after agreement is rarely followed
through by most couples as a divorce rate in some countries is as high as 70
percent instead of living a life of regret after prematurely ending a
marriage an individual could simply terminate it
once his or her contract was done we will also see an emergence of AI arranged
marriages which will match people based on compatibility data gathered from all
individuals involved covering their habits sexual interests to even
genetics such an AI could even arrange for open marriages between couples with
flexible sexual arrangements these are currently called consensual
non-monogamous relationships and would allow couples who are more promiscuous to
have healthy relationships without fear of jealousy and distrust some may even
forego the idea of marriage as a biological institution entirely with the
emergence of more human-like robots it's already happening today like in the case
of James who lives with his sexbots who he turns as his girlfriend when asked
will he'd pick if he had to choose between his human wife and the door
James confessed he would not know considering the door was just as
important to him as his wife in its extremes we could even see people
married to virtual entities who exist in virtual worlds or as holograms like we
saw in Blade Runner pleasure gain from sex with such virtual partners could
even be replicated by electrical stimulation to the brain
several point sites today already offer 360-degree videos which can be viewed
with the VR headset I think it's safe to say the emergence of virtual and
augmented reality will push human sexuality and our relationships into
uncharted waters there's even a strong chance we could see the concept of
marriage disappear almost entirely in the future as Millennials increasingly
avoid marital partnerships because they offer very little in form of reward
I mean why go into such a lifelong agreement when you can't afford the ring
the wedding the house or the children especially considering none of that has
anything to do with love or even marriage all of this comes to suggest we
are nearing the end of marriage as a worthwhile institution now none of this
implies marriage in his traditional States will be phased out completely but
it certainly means that there'll be an option for everyone no matter your
orientation sex or marital preferences please click the like and subscribe

What is Account-Based Marketing (ABM)? | #2MinuteMarketing - Duration: 3:31.
Hey everyone! Taylor Wagner here with #2MinuteMarketing, thanks for stopping by.
I'm out hiking the Stratton Springs trail today and super excited to talk
with you about account-based marketing and what ABM is and how it's different
from inbound marketing. The good news is that if you already are currently doing
inbound marketing, you already have a lot of the components in place that are
required to be able to do ABM at some level, right? So without any further ado,
let's go ahead and put two minutes on the clock and dive into this. Inbound
marketing, right, is typically thought about like a funnel -- big at the top, small
at the bottom. We're filling that funnel with as many leads as possible, and then,
from all those leads that we collect, we identify which of those leads are most
closely aligned with our ideal customer profile -- or ICP -- and I'll talk about that
in a different video if you want to learn more about that. But once we've
identified those accounts that are most closely aligned with our ICP then we
target them and move them through our sales cycle until they become customers,
right? That's inbound marketing. Kind of like taking a big fishing net, throwing
it out into the water, collecting all of these fish, and then deciding which of
these fish that we are caught are actually the ones that we want to keep.
Versus ABM -- you're not taking all this time and energy focusing on all these
fish that we don't even care about, right. What it is, is like we're gonna
pre-identify the fish that we want to catch and then specifically go after
them with a spear versus a net. That's account-based marketing, as I'm falling
all over this trail here. So take your inbound funnel right where it's big
at the top and small at the bottom, flip that upside down, and turn it into an ABM
pyramid, where we start with a small group of select target accounts that we
know are going to be a great fit for what our company brings to the table, and
then after we identify which ones closely align with our ICP, then we
proactively go after them instead of waiting for them to come in to us. So we
create targeted messaging and content and maybe host events, but doing whatever
we can to create a very memorable, personalized experience for these
accounts that could potentially be giving us tons and tons of revenue to
the point where we can get our foot in the door with them. Once once we have our
foot in the door we can open up a sales opportunity and then work our target
accounts through our sales cycle...but it doesn't stop there! When
we're in the pyramid -- remember we're going from small to big -- so
we've landed this account. Now it's time to expand, and we either cross-sell to
different departments or upsell to different products within our product
suite-- all the while keeping a keen eye on how we can deliver a
one-to-one experience for this company to ensure that all the revenue that they
are worth for our company continues to come in year after year because we
continue to knock their socks off and turn them into raving fans of our
solution, our company, and what we bring in to the table. So in a nutshell that's
ABM, the difference between ABM and inbound, but I know I'm only scratching
the surface here. I can only fit so much into two minutes, but if you do have any
questions or if you have anything to add if I missed out on-- OH MY GOSH! This tree
moved and I thought that was an animal. Holy crap. So, oh my gosh, so please
comment below, subscribe to this channel if you want to learn more about ABM as
well. You know how I mentioned that you take -- my heart's still racing --
you know how I mentioned if you take the inbound funnel and flip it upside down...
there's actually a movement or a community around this called #FlipMyFunnel.
I don't run this, I'm definitely part of it because I love to
continue to learn, and I highly recommend that you join it as well. So please let
me know if you have any questions. I hope this helps. I hope you enjoyed it. Please
subscribe to continue to learn more, and I'll talk to you later. Have a good one.

What Other People Think About You is None of Your Business - Duration: 4:26.
(happy music)
- The other day I got a note from a thank you note
from a reader who was going through a really tough time.
She had just gotten her Master's degree in nutrition,
and was planning on opening a wellness center
in her town, which is awesome.
There was just one problem.
A local doctor felt threatened and told her not
to compete with her, to only offer
services that wouldn't conflict.
In this doctor's mind, there wasn't room for both of them.
There wasn't room for both their dreams.
Naturally my reader was really upset,
I mean, who wouldn't be?
She felt totally discouraged, and worse, she started
believing the doctor, and not believing in herself.
But the very next day, she got my newsletter.
And in it, I talked about the importance of pursuing
your dreams and contributing to people's well being.
Boom.
In that moment, she decided to ignore that doctor
and share her gifts with the world.
Here's some wise advice I'll pass on from a friend of mine.
What other people think about you is none of your business.
It has nothing to do with you.
In fact the only thing that matters,
is what you think about you.
What you think about your dreams.
Or who you love, or how you live,
or how you contribute to the world.
That's what matters.
Your healthy opinion of you.
If I made decisions based on critics,
I wouldn't get much done.
In fact, I'd be sucking my thumb in the corner back there.
If I followed the stern orders of how other people
think I should take care of my health, or what I should
and shouldn't write about, or what I should and shouldn't
teach, or how I should and shouldn't feel, and so on,
I'd limit what I share with the world,
and that wouldn't help me, or the people I love.
Like you guys.
Now that's not to say that there isn't a place
for constructive feedback.
There is, and I'm often open to it.
But it depends on the source and the intention
behind the words.
Because I'm gonna tell you something.
I can smell phony constructive feedback a mile away.
Because underneath it all, it's still meant
to clip my wings and keep me small.
So that's not constructive.
And that's not feedback that I take.
Remember, negative people will be cranky.
And negative people are often acting
from their own fears and moods.
So while we can often have compassion for them,
we don't need to listen too them.
So don't let those cranky pants sow seeds
of doubt and block your potential.
Bless them and send them to the light.
So that you don't have to drag
their tired asses around in your head.
Now if this is coming from someone
you truly value, certainly hear them.
Perhaps through their insights, there's a valuable
nugget that can help you overcome a potential obstacle.
Just remember that their feelings aren't facts.
Let them know you deeply appreciate their love
and concern, but you've got this.
But on the other hand, if it's an online troll
who can hide behind anonymity, just let it go.
These people are deeply wounded and feel powerless.
And hurting strangers is their way of trying to feel better.
And if I get some nasty comments for saying this,
you can bet your bottom that I won't take it personally.
You know why?
It's none of my business.
- [Woman] Amen!
- So you do you.
Let them be them.
And just keep rocking your awesomeness and your dreams.
So now it's your turn.
How would your life improve if you weren't
so worried about what other people thought?
Or if you have advice for how
to handle criticism, let us know.
Leave a comment below.
I hope this serves you and helps you live like you mean it.
Helps you be brave and share more
of your true self and talents.

What are You Going to Do About Michael Madigan? - Duration: 2:04.
Who do you think is really to blame for the current situation
and what is your plan as Governor to address the mess that Illinois is in?
Well to answer your first question as to who's to blame
You're looking at him. I'm to blame. You're to blame.
Every single citizen in the state of Illinois that didn't vote is to blame
You can't place the burden upon one man because one man didn't put us in this mess
It wasn't Michael Madigan It wasn't Bruce Rauner
It was collectively us as a state
Because this didn't generate overnight. This has been decades in the making.
And so we all have to take an individual responsibility to change it
It's probably the most common question that I get
What are you gonna do about Michael Madigan?
And it's not to deflect the question so much as it is to say is
What are you going to do about Michael Madigan? Meaning, you have a responsibility as much as I do.
Every voter here, if we want Illinois changed, you don't toss all of Illinois' problems
into the lap of one person and say we need you to fix this
There's no white knight coming in on a horse to save us.
We are all on the same sinking ship and we either all start grabbing a pail
and tossing water overboard or we're all going down with it
Those are the choices that we have.
And I think what I bring to the table is my ability to reach people from multiple demographics
to engage people whether I'm on the 40th floor in a high-rise at the Illinois Policy Institute dinner
or whether I'm in a trailer park or whether I'm in the south side of Chicago
I have the ability to relate and reach people
that frankly I don't believe any other candidate has the ability to do
Illinois needs leaders. Not just a governor, but more elected officials that have the
ability to sit down and have a conversation with multiple different
types of people and come to viable solutions for the state
I have the ability to do that
My name is Kash Jackson and I approve this message
