Youtube daily here Feb 19 2018

It's very nerve wracking, very nerve wracking can you just hope everything goes smoothly

hi everybody Simon here two weeks to move so now let's come to the stage

where I've got to get the computer system broken down but not for shipping

but take him with me here's the old PC I'm gonna break it

down using my MacBook Air USB box to plug all the bits in so this is what I'll

be live streaming on for the next few weeks so I've hooked up the MacBook Air

to the 27 inch LED monitor built that for keyboard trusty mouse and an

external hard drive which I backup everything onto as I go it's just taking

me about eight hours to back my whole channel up all my files onto several

external drives so what am I going to do the PC box it's quite a large box to buy

a new box would be about £50 now if I left all the motherboard memory

cards graphics card and hard drives in the PC box put it in a suitcase no

matter how much I wrap the outside even if I put bits inside it's gonna get

thrown about this case is going to go in the hold

so I'm flying with EVA Air I don't want to take a gamble with the components the

components are where the money is not so much the box so what I've decided to do

is I'm gonna take a strip the box completely I'm gonna take the

motherboard a memory graphics card CPU cooler the lot got a wrap each piece

individually in bubble wrap and put it into a smaller case which I'll get will

go in the hold but I'll wrap it then with clothes so

it's got a 99% chance of arriving okay the box I think what I'll do is I will

throw it in a cardboard shipping box to go on the boat it'll take 8 to 10 weeks

to get to me I can work off the MacBook Air you can run a YouTube channel you

can run all your life off a laptop hooked up to a monitor we'll be fine

I've got two monitors and what I'm gonna do with those is take the stands off

them wrap them really well in bubble wrap

face to face put them all together put them in another case to go into the

plane in the hold but again wrap it all in clothes should

be okay with le LED or LCD I'm not sure which one they are but they're they

should survive providing a rapid corners well but worse scenario the laptops in

my carry-on with the cameras so it's always a worry you know do you send

the box with all your components by some company like DHL or one of these

couriers its about a £100, £150 quid to ship them over on its own and it's still

going to be thrown about so yeah it was a hard decision

you know the you've got to look at the costs of the equipment to replace it if

it did break even though it is insured for the trip I've decided yet break it

all down put it into two suitcases wrap it well throw it in the hold of the

plane and then the laptop with me so that's what I'm doing today.

How's your day going? Oh it's getting nervous and exciting getting ready for

the move everything's in place visa, passport, money it's all sorted airplane

tickets one-way so we've now got everything books at this end as well

moving that house setting everything all the final bills very nerve-wracking very

nerve-wracking you just hope everything goes smoothly but we gave ourselves 24

hours once we move out of here before we fly that way if there is any

hiccups we should be okay so right now I'm going to get down to

breaking the PC up I'll take a few shots as I'm doing it and this will probably

be the last moving video before we go as I make the journey the guy's turned up

in the lorry I will film as they load the lorry the journey I will film and

getting to the other end but that might take couple of weeks for me to get all

the stuff together and put the video up so there's still Simon's Tales coming

out and then I'm also putting a few of the older videos I've done trying to

rework them so if you see some of the older videos come up with different

titles and things it's just that they were demonetised way back the

beginning of the year and because of YouTube and the advertising problems so

we're just gonna I'm just going to rework them and I play around with them

and put them back up just to see if I can get them monetised

it all counts for the future every little bit so those might pop up so

there's some surprise videos coming up you might not have even seen the older

one so you might enjoy them anyway I will see you on the next livestream I

think so bye for now

Who Invented Racing Stripes? | WheelHouse | Donut Media - Duration: 5:12.

(engines roaring)

- Racing stripes are on anything from badass performance cars,

this motorcycle I saw outside the office,

and this weird guitar I found online.

I mean look at this thing it looks fast,

and it's a guitar.

Stripes have become a universal symbol for speed.

But why?

Where'd they come from?

And who was the first person to put

racing stripes on a race car?

I'm Nolan Sykes and this is Wheel House.

In the car world racing stripes mean performance.

(tires screeching)

If you have racing stripes painted onto your car,

you're tapping into a decades-long tradition.

It's like getting an Insane Clown Posse tattoo.

You're letting people know you're about that life.

Mother (beep)er.

Even if you ironically put stripes on a beater,

it's funny because we know stripes

are meant for a true sports car.

But why?

American car companies have been painting

stripes on their cars for decades.

They started it in the '60s,

because that's when stripes started to mean fast.

Ford had solid stripes,

Chevy had little pin stripes around their stripes,

and Dodge had stripes down the side.

Each company had their own little

twist on the racing stripe.

But this doesn't answer our question,

because stripes didn't just appear over night.

So I looked to the car with the longest

history of racing stripes I could think of.

The Shelby GT350.

The GT350 came out in 1965.

And besides it's otherworldly performance,

it's stand out feature were the blue

stripes over the white body.

When I saw that I thought stripes,

Shelby (clicks tongue) Ahh.

The Cobra!

I forgot about the Cobra.

I felt like an idiot.

Which wasn't new but,

(mouse clicks)

but it was a relief.

The Cobra predates the Mustang by four years.

And as a car you can't even imagine without stripes.

Surely, this must be the first car with stripes!

But I go to look it up.

And guess what?

The first one didn't have stripes!

It didn't have stripes until 1965,

when the GT350 got stripes.

I don't know what's going on?

What happened in 1965?

(sighs)

Well I'll tell you.

Pete Brock happened.

The first Cobra was a cool race car.

But it was about as aerodynamic as a brick.

So when Carroll Shelby took it to Le Mans,

he got destroyed down the long straights

by the sleeker Ferraris.

Shelby knew his next car for the 1964 season

needed to be a coupe.

Pete Brock was the guy he chose

to design this Ferrari killer.

Brock had done such a good job,

that he was promoted to head of special projects in 1965,

and that's the year he decided to paint stripes.

There's no way this isn't the guy who made the stripes.

Someone asked him,

Pete your blue stripes you've changed cars forever,

how did you come up with such a simple

yet brilliant design?

"Well" he said, "I didn't."

What?

I thought we had it.

Brock gave credit to Briggs Cunningham,

another guy I've never heard of.

So who was Briggs Cunningham?

He was some guy obsessed with motor sports.

Cunningham showed up to Le Mans in 1951

with two cars he designed himself.

They were called Cunningham C-2Rs.

As far as American cars go the C-2Rs were revolutionary.

But Cunningham's longest lasting legacy was in the paint.

The rules at the time said that every car

had to be painted that team's national color.

And America's colors were white and imperial blue.

Now normally teams would just paint

the body white and the frame blue.

But Briggs was a bit of a show boat.

He painted two blue stripes on top

of the white from front to back,

because he thought it looked cool.

And it did!

Fan's and teams alike couldn't stop

talking about Cunningham's cars.

They'd never seen anything like it.

This was the first time racing stripes

as we know them were ever used in competition.

While all this was going on,

a young Pete Brock was reading about it.

And he saw that Cunningham was building

cars unlike anybody else.

A guy no one had ever heard of

was doing things that no body thought he could.

I think that's pretty cool.

So Shelby's got their stripes from Pete Brock,

a guy we've never heard of,

who's honoring Briggs Cunningham,

another guy we've never heard of.

And the Daytona, Cobra, and GT-350,

were all such truly dominant cars

that their stripes became synonymous with performance.

Right now there are hundreds of guys and gals

that you've never heard of painting racing stripes

on their cars just like those other guys

you've never heard of.

I'm Nolan Sykes,

the guy you've never heard of saying thanks

guys I've never heard of,

for everything.

Thanks for watching Wheel House,

remember to like, comment, share and subscribe.

It really helps us out.

Ah we got a lot of new shows on Donut,

Monday is Wheel House with me.

Tuesday is Field Prep with Matt Field,

he's building a formula drift Corvette.

Wednesday is Science Garage with Bart.

It's prolly my favorite show right now.

Thursday is Up to Speed with James Pumphrey,

tells you everything you needed to know

about your favorite cars.

Friday is The Bestest with Tony,

the top 10 countdown of all the coolest stuff.

If you watch our channel everyday

I guarantee you're gonna know a lot more

about cars than when you started.

Bye.

Social Media Is Here To Stay - Duration: 6:03.

Hi everybody!

This is Maggie McGary.

I am a veteran association communications professional.

I have spent my entire career in the association sector and have spent the past decade doing

social media, online community management, and digital marketing for various associations

across the size continuum from tiny to huge.

So obviously it comes in no surprise to anybody who knows me that to me, obviously one of

the biggest challenges that has faced and will continue to face associations is just

the way that social media and digital have just changed the game.

When I started in social media in associations about ten years ago, the conversation was

what - "do we really need to worry about this?" and "social media is just a fad"

and "Twitter is just a bunch of people talking about what they had for lunch" and that

was an ongoing conversation and something that kind of dominated the conversation for

several years.

Here we are ten years later and a presidential election later and we're to the point where

that ship has already sailed.

To me, the fact that we're still kind of having these same conversations - or if not having

the conversations - understanding the ways that social media and digital work can impact

every part of an association from leadership, membership, just everything throughout the

association.

It's not just adding a volunteer or hiring a millennial or an entry-level person or buying

a tool or getting on Instagram.

Social media and digital (I will just stick to social media just to keep it brief) but

basically social media has changed everything.

It's changed the game.

It's changed the news cycle.

It's changed the revenue model for businesses across the spectrum.

It's changed marketing.

It's changed campaigning.

It's changed politics.

It's changed fundraising.

It's just changed everything and it's been my experience as both a full-time association

staff for a consultant, a volunteer, a freelancer, that associations are not getting it

That's not to say that they're not trying or they don't care.

It's just it's such a big change and it's not look at bolt on it to do to make the transition

from the way we always did business to the way we do business now.

And we'll have to do business to remain relevant and competitive into the future.

It's so much bigger than just Twitter or just social media but those are certainly parts

of it and it all kind of goes together.

So not to nerd out on this or anything, I'll just wrap it up by saying the bottom line

is that social media is here to stay.

It's not bad.

It is bigger than anybody thought it would be 10 years ago (certainly than I did).

There are some fundamental advantages that adapting a digital mindset, digital strategy,

and just kind of retooling the entire way associations work around kind of the principles

of this new way of communicating, this new cycle, just the pace of life and attention

these days.

Associations, in my opinion, are vital to society.

They are super important.

They have a tremendous amount of value and need to succeed because in my opinion, society

needs that.

So it's not that serious luckily, it's easy to fix but I think it does require some conversations

that go beyond just the "let's hire a millennial to do this" or "now can we get an intern

to do this?"

There's some really deeper, more important, kind of more daunting conversations to have

that center around social media and the way that they're those tools and just that mentality

has changed business and will continue to change it.

So I will leave it at that so if you want to continue this conversation you can find

me on twitter at @maggieLMCG.

Recently the Love & Hip Hop star and Harlem emcee has been flaunting her boyfriend and what better way to scream, "I'm not single so fall back!" than to post your man on the 'gram.

Who is he? He goes by the name "Chozus" and he describes himself as "very rare.

The two have some things in common like a passion for music (I mean, the man is a DJ) and a shared admiration for blue hair.

They even pulled up to fashion week together, sitting front row, while straight sweating one another.

Boy did they look good!.
