Youtube daily game Jul 1 2017

Hello Indie Game Lovers, Nerds and Nerdettes my name is Feniks and this is the Indie Game

News.

Today we look at Tycoon genre.

This videos are packed with informations so sit back, take your time and stay focused

for next few minutes You can find the links to all covered games in the description.

Feel free to pause at any time.

I cover other genres as well so give my channel a look afterwards.

As always we are going to start with updates of already existing games.

Works have began on Transport Fever's latest patch and it is currently available to test

in beta branch of the game.

The gameplay patch brings quite a few commonly requested features to the game.

We will see addition of waypoints for street vehicles, explicit line track/terminal selection

at stations, consistent people and cargo when modifying infrastructure, an upgrade to ships

so that they can carry more than one type of cargo, an unload only feature for vehicles,

and much more.

Developers also improved other elements of the game, such as tunnels that now actually

cut the terrain, or user interface details like that the bulldozer now asks if you are

sure when removing large structures.

We will see many additional improvements and bug fixes as well as new modding features

complete the patch.

Not many updates this month but let's move to recent release.

Rise of Industry formerly known as Project Automata released on Early access via their

own site.

Game has dropped the price by half after their failed kickstarter last year and is more accessible

to players as it stands right now.

You can also download free demo to test a game before you commit to buying it.

Rise of Industry takes inspiration from such games as Industry Giant, Transport tycoon,

Anno series and Factorio.

Your job will be to take the reins of a small company and grow it into an industrial and

financial empire

You will achieve that by gathering resources by building farms, mines, oil and gas wells

and many more.

Starting from the most basic materials you will have wide range of products to manufacture

and ship to towns.

You will need to ensure smooth transportation of both raw materials and finished products

at every stage of production chain.

Game will allow you to build roads, trucks, trains, ships, and even zeppelins, all while

building your industrial base (or bases) of operations.

Each mode of travel has it's own advantages and drawbacks, and it's up to you to sort

the logistic puzzle.

Developers intend to eventually move to steam early access.

New DLC for Darkest Dungeon - Crimson Court has been released on 20th of June.

Crimson Court is a parallel campaign experienced alongside the main Darkest Dungeon content

that will provide you with new challenges and variation at every difficulty level.

The narrative grounding sheds some light on the Ancestor's early days, and will be presented

in the same style of cut-scenes you've seen elsewhere in the game.

The DLC is designed to be played alongside an existing campaign, or as a brand new one--your

choice!

The events and features will unlock over the course of play.

From a notable features we will see: a new hero class, new dungeon region: The Courtyard,

full faction of new deadly foes, 5 new Bosses and 10 new buildings and many more.

The expansion received so far 78% positive review score out of nearly 400 reviews submitted.

Okay time for announcements from last month.

Tropico 6 was officially announced to come out next year.

We will see return of everyone's beloved El Presidente.

This time game expands in scope allowing players to connect to large archipelagos for the first

time in the series.

You will be able to manage multiple islands at the same time and adapt to various new

challenges.

You will be able to Send your agents on raids to foreign lands to steal world wonders and

monuments, to add them to your collection.

You will have ability to build bridges, construct tunnels and transport your citizens and tourists

in taxis, buses and aerial cable cars.

Tropico 6 also features a revised research system focusing on the political aspects of

being the world's greatest dictator.

Project Highrise announced it's 2nd expansion Miami Malls.

This time your job will be to create the shopping centre of your dreams.

With addition of 15 stores and restaurants, you'll be able to create shopping centers

that no longer need offices, apartments or hotels to draw in visitors.

We will see even larger crowds and addition of wonderful water features.

Similarly to previous expansion Miami Malls intends to capture unique atmosphere of this

always sunny paradise.

Airport CEO developers have released their 3rd and final gameplay video prior to upcoming

steam early access and game appears to look really polished for what we are used to in

Early Access realm.

Over 30 000 people have seen final gameplay video so I predict game becoming huge success

in its initial days after launch.

I am also pleased to report that developers started working on fixing some of minor bugs

spotted in the video and are almost done with completing application for steam direct.

Airport CEO is a 2D tycoon and management game in development for PC and Mac where you

take seat as the CEO of your own airport.

You will build the airport's infrastructure with everything from runways and taxiways,

gates and hangars to constructing terminals with check-in, security, restaurants and shopping.

You will manage the business perspective of the airport by hiring employees, managers

and executives, making deals with airline companies and making sure that ends meet by

keeping an eye on budget and resources.

Watch this space because I have a feeling we will definitely be coming back to the game

over next couple of months.

We have now announcement for for Startup Company Early Access on Steam.

Game is set to release on 12of of August this year.

Startup Company is a business simulation sandbox game.

You play as the CEO of a newly formed software company.

With an empty bank account you are forced to complete client contracts, but as soon

as you get enough money you will be able to start competing against the largest tech giants,

building your very own products and services.

Startup Company includes:

* Build Mode: Design your very own office.

* Contract Work: Win contracts by competing on price and service.

* Crafting System: Merge components to create modules.

Use modules to create products.

* Products: Build outstanding products by adding features, managing servers and running

marketing campaigns.

Developers kindly granted me access to Beta version of a game and you should expect First

Impression video coming out this month so please do come back to check it out.

Suikoden Review! (PlayStation) The Game Collection - Duration: 8:44.

Welcome back to The Game Collection!

It's finally summer time again.

Growing up, summer vacation was filled with endless hours of swimming, riding bikes with

friends, hiking in the woods, staying up late watching anime, and of course hours of uninterrupted

time with my favorite RPGs.

Well, I'm older now and have these things called "responsibilities" and "financial independence"

that keep me from reliving those glory days.

But who says you need a copious amount of time to beat, or even complete a classic RPG?

To my fellow time-strapped adventurers I present for your consideration, Suikoden!

Suikoden is a PlayStation turn-based RPG, and best known for being the slightly less

popular older brother of Suikoden II.

The game was inspired by a centuries-old Chinese novel, from which it derives one of the series

defining characteristics: The ability to recruit a massive 108 characters to join your army.

Yoshitaka Murayama, a newcomer to Konami drew this inspiration early on but eventually shelved

the idea.

When it came time to write and direct Suikoden, Murayama decided instead to create a prequel

to his grand design.

What we got was Suikoden.

As our story picks up, our hero Tir is joining the Scarlet Moon Imperial Army.

His father, General Teo McDohl, has just been sent off to the north to combat a rebel army,

leaving Tir to his new position.

Living with our hero are the friends and servants of Teo, and Tir's best friend Ted.

This group accompanies you on your first several missions until eventually, tragedy strikes.

In short order, Tir's life gets turned upside down as he finds himself on the wrong side

of the Empire.

In a twist of destiny, Tir finds himself in the very rebel army that his father was sent

off to combat, which leads to conflict that tears friends and families apart.

And if you suspect that Suikoden will pull any punches in that regard, you are sorely

mistaken.

Suikoden is one of those games that delights killing the characters you hold most dear.

And I don't think the game could have worked any other way.

The portrayal of the grim reality of civil war within the game was ahead of its time,

back in 1995, though some might call it tame by today's standards.

The game pits its protagonists against antagonists, rather than heroes VS villains.

Those in your opposition have honor and hold loyalties, and are overall normal human beings,

rather than caricatures of evil incarnate.

There are maybe one or two in the game portrayed almost entirely as a villain, but even some

of them have motivations for their actions that I'm not entirely unsympathetic to.

A bullet-point breakdown of the plot of Suikoden is very basic, and you can probably tell how

the game is going to end after the first 5 hours.

For Suikoden though, the old adage holds true that it's all about the journey, not the destination.

And that journey is pretty neat!

Within Suikoden battles are random, and combat is turn-based, consisting of up to 6 party

members fighting up to 6 enemies at a time.

Commands are issued at the start of a round, then all of the actions play out at once which

can be quite spectacular to watch.

During battle, the camera pans and zooms in to emphasize the impact of critical hits,

which reminded me quite a bit of Grandia.

With 108 possible recruitable characters, (not all of whom are playable,) the developers

had to implement a novel leveling system that could allow characters to gain levels quickly

without other characters risk over-leveling.

The system they developed causes all characters to level up every 1000 experience points,

but the amount of experience points would be determined by the difference in levels

between the character and the enemy.

Astute viewers may remember that a similar system was later implemented in Namco-Bandai's

.hack series.

However it's worth noting that the implementation within Suikoden doesn't have those balance

issues during the end-game.

Because the game centers on a resistance that evolves into an all-out civil war, there's

another kind of battle within the game that is unlike most turn-based affairs.

During military battles, you are typically given 3 attack options: Charge, Bow, or Magic.

Or as I like to refer to them, Rock, Paper, or Scissors.

As you recruit and acquire more members into your army, the more options you will be given

during these battles, such as being able to turn enemies over to your side, or being able

to gather intelligence to find out what the next form of attack from your enemy will be,

and beyond.

It's important to fight these battles to the best of your ability because if you slip up,

some of your recruited characters will die.

For good.

I found these battles to be a lot of fun, but overly easy to win.

Even the final epic battle was a push-over, though that may have been helped by my tenacious

search for recruitable characters, because by the end of the game I had gathered all

108 recruitable characters.

The last form of battle within the game are the 1 on 1 battles where you also have a rock-paper-scissors

triangle in the options Attack, Defend, and Desperate Attack.

There are only a few of these in the game and they can be tricky, but usually your opponent

will telegraph their upcoming move with a phrase before attacking, though in my experience

it seems like choosing to defend is a safe bet when in doubt.

Beyond the battle systems, the overarching goal is to gather all of the 108 stars of

destiny, or recruitable characters, and defeat the empire.

This isn't a hopeless endeavor though, because most recruitable characters are easy to spot,

though a few are tucked away out of sight.

Speaking with them will usually clue you in on what they need in order to be recruited.

Some of the more common requests are for you to be a certain level, or have x number of

people already recruited, or have certain people in your party before they'll be willing

to join.

Other times, all you need is to ask for them to join.

But there are a couple of missable characters.

If you want to get the good ending, I'd recommend you at least look up a guide on the missable

characters, that way you can spend the rest of the game leisurely searching for the remaining

cast.

The world design in Suikoden is pretty interesting in that even by the end of the game you've

only got a small section of land to explore, compared to other RPGs.

The explorable land is confined to the Empire, which helps reinforce the idea that this game

is really just a big story in a small part of the world.

In Suikoden, the overall stakes don't feel like they were raised out of proportion.

If you're over the whole "Save the world" concept and want something at least a little

more relatable, look no further.

The visuals within Suikoden are pretty unique, especially for the time.

Murayama made a conscious decision to avoid polygonal graphics because he wasn't satisfied

with the look of early 3D on the PlayStation, a sentiment that he and I both share.

So instead detailed sprite work was used in battles, which were placed over a 3-dimensional

plane during battle, allowing for some interesting movement and emphasis during battles.

Outside of combat the world feels a bit more standard, though there were a few key moments

when the sprite animation stole the show.

Musically the game contains all of the fanfare and classic medieval sounding songs you'd

come to expect from RPGs over the years, but also contains some really unique music.

There are a lot of tracks that were inspired by traditional Chinese folk music, which I

suppose makes total sense given the game's roots.

Overall, Suikoden is a very unique game that's well worth the time it takes to complete.

And that doesn't even take into consideration the fact that you can actually import your

save file from Suikoden into Suikoden II, which will probably come in handy when I tackle

the sequel next time, in The Game Collection!

CHANNEL ANNOUNCEMENT: Game A Day Fortnight! - Duration: 1:07.

I've got some sad news, friends.

On Sunday, the day after tomorrow,

I'll be flying to America to visit my family.

I'll have to leave behind my trusty gaming computer

and I won't be able to play Minecraft or make videos for a couple weeks.

I hate to leave you guys high and dry for so long, but... What can I do?

Except...

Give you a new game video every single weekday while I'm gone?

That's right, friends. From July 3rd till the 14th

I've prepared a video on a different indie game for every single weekday.

It's the Game A Day Fortnight, and I'm super excited to share it with you all.

I've spent a lot of time preparing for this, and I really hope you enjoy it.

Be sure to leave thumbs up (or down) on each video to let me know how you like it

and comment to tell me which games you want to see more of.

I'll be using your feedback to plan a whole new recording and uploading schedule once I get back from my trip

including plenty of Minecraft, critiques and reviews, some livestreaming

and plenty of lesser-known titles that I think deserve a little more attention than they've gotten.

There are a lot of exciting new things coming very soon

and I'm proud to thank each and every one of you for supporting me from the beginning.

Have a happy fortnight, and I'll see you all soon.

Great Video Games That Have Aged Terribly - Duration: 6:31.

In a world filled with multi-hour install times, premium downloadable content, busted

launches, and multiplayer matches infested with trolls...people keep asking one question:

why aren't video games be as fun as they used to be?

Spoiler alert: they are.

Sure, that old Nintendo 64 shooter might've been a big deal back in the day, but nostalgia

is a powerful drug.

Trust us.

You can't go back again, and it's better to leave well enough alone than to sully your

happy memories by revisiting these classic titles.

Goldeneye 007

What we're going to say might come as a shock, but don't replay GoldenEye.

Just don't.

Yes, GoldenEye is full of once-innovative features like stealth-based challenges, non-linear

levels, and enemies that reacted differently based on where you shot them.

And we know that you have fond memories of staying up all night with friends, pitting

Bond against friends and foes alike and shooting it out in levels like the creatively-named

Facility and Bunker.

But if your copy of GoldenEye somehow makes its way down from the attic, run.

What you remember as a high-octane shooter is really a blurry, uncontrollable mess.

This is partly due to the game's low-resolution textures, straight out of 1997, which developer

Rare had to use to get the game running smoothly.

The controls are even more problematic.

Without a second analog stick on the N-64 controller, basic actions like strafing, sneaking,

and lining up headshots are awkward, making James seem like less of a trained killer,

and more like a chimp who happened to find a rocket launcher.

Let GoldenEye enjoy its retirement in peace.

Bond's earned it.

Resident Evil 2

Continuing the popular zombie-killing franchise, Resident Evil 2 sold itself as an interactive,

George Romero-style flick, with dynamic camera angles, fully voiced dialogue, and a whole

city to explore!

Oh, and lots and lots…. and lots of blood.

At the time, that was dazzling.

Today, games that emulate Hollywood blockbusters are practically their own genre.

And watching your badass zombie killer stumble around drunkenly, thanks to those same dynamic

camera angles that used to look so cool, does not make for a compelling experience.

The more distracted you are by trying to control Leon and Claire, the more you realize that

the much-lauded story doesn't make much sense either—and that's before you even get to

the nonsensical tofu mode.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

"Open" is the operative word in the phrase "open world," and while Grand Theft Auto:

Vice City was groundbreaking back in 2002, it feels constrained when compared to later

Grand Theft Auto titles.

Zooming around Vice City in stolen vehicles is still fun, thanks largely to the game's

nostalgia-drenched '80s vibe, but these days you'll spend a lot of the time focused on

what Tommy Vercetti, your questionable protagonist, can't do, not what he can.

Tommy drowns the second he gets knee-deep in the water.

Tommy can't enter most of Vice City's buildings.

Tommy also can't climb over walls, ride bicycles, or hold more than one gun at a time.

Or even access most of the game's map until he's completed a number of missions.

Vice City may have felt like an open world at the time, but today, it just feels like

a prison.

F-Zero

Before you complain about today's systems having weak launch line-ups, remember that

on the day the Super Nintendo came out, it only had three games: Super Mario World, Pilotwings,

and F-Zero.

If you weren't down for stomping mushroom monsters or… flight simulation, bringing

a high-speed, arcade-style racing game right into your living room was still a ton of fun.

But the Super Nintendo's unique brand of pseudo-3-D doesn't impress like it used to, and without

that hook, F-Zero feels pretty bare-bones.

It doesn't even have a multiplayer mode.

And can you describe any of F-Zero's flat, featureless tracks?

Probably not.

And there are only four different cars to choose from.

What's more: Captain Falcon, F-Zero's mascot, only appears on the box and in the instruction

manual, and not the game itself.

F-Zero established a great formula, but the game itself?

Do yourself a favor and pass this one by as quickly as possible.

Myst

A bonafide a cultural phenomenon, Myst held the record for the best-selling PC game of

all time for 13 years, and it's credited with single-handedly making CD-ROM drives ubiquitous

throughout the '90s.

With a whopping 700 megabytes of storage space available, developer Cyan Worlds crammed Myst

full of breathtaking 640x480 images, thrilling full-motion videos of gears and cranks, and

some grainy footage of a couple of nerds.

"Katherine, my love, I have to leave quickly.

Something terrible has happened."

But simple multimedia isn't really impressive anymore, and calling Myst "dated" is a gross

understatement.

It doesn't help that the game controls like a PowerPoint presentation, or that many of

its puzzles were so obtuse that they were basically random.

Modern entertainment owes a lot to Myst, but if you want to see what all the fuss was about,

you have better options than playing it—like, say, watching the upcoming Myst television

show.

Duke Nukem 3D

What Duke Nukem 3D lacked in Doom's ground-breaking 3-D technology, Quake's haunting atmosphere,

or Half-Life's mature storytelling, it made up for with its foul-mouthed protagonist,

pop culture references, and full-frontal nudity.

If you were 12 in 1996, that was enough to instantly elevate Duke Nukem 3D to Game of

the Year.

Today, there's no need to get your jollies looking at pixelated ladies.

The jokes wear thin as you get older, too.

Let's face it, calling a Disneyland knock-off "Babe Land" isn't exactly the height of satire.

While we're at it, let's just call it out: all of Duke's best lines were stolen from

Army of Darkness, where Bruce Campbell delivered them better.

"Hail to the king."

'Hail to the king, baby."

After spending hours and hours with Grand Theft Auto, Saint's Row, and Bulletstorm,

Duke's edge seems awfully dull.

As a first-person shooter, Duke Nukem 3D actually holds up pretty well.

We just wish it didn't embarrass itself while we played it.

"Let's rock."

Warcraft: Orcs and Humans

Even the people who made Warcraft, the real-time strategy game that provided the basis for

Blizzard Entertainment's current empire, say it hasn't aged well.

When asked if Warcraft will ever get a modern remaster like so many other games, Blizzard

co-founder Frank Pearce had a pretty blunt answer: no.

"Warcraft: Orcs & Humans was awesome for its time.

I promise you, in today's world, by today's standards, it's just not that fun anymore."

Pearce doesn't explain what, exactly, makes Warcraft feel so dated, but tedious large-scale

maneuvers, limited roadside building, and rudimentary enemy AI are probably all part

of it.

Oh, and Warcraft doesn't run on modern machines without an emulator.

A game that you literally can't play?

That's one that hasn't aged well at all.
