Youtube daily which Nov 2 2017

There's two types of people in this world - there's people like butter, there's

people like margarine. Which one's right, you'll see in the video.

Hello everyone, Dr. Jason West with the butter-margarine question and I want to lay it right out

on the table right away, I'm a butter fan because I really think that it's

important to eat foods that spoil, you just eat them before they spoil.

So I think that's really important if you're evaluating any food, if little bugs don't

eat it, we're just bigger bugs, it's not gonna be

healthier for us either and I actually tried this experiment, I read a book

about the history of butter, which we're gonna talk about in just a minute but I

had an experiment, we got a tub of margarine, we opened it up, we put it into

our garage and we will observe what happens and after a couple days, here's

what happened, there wasn't any smell, there wasn't any decay, there was nothing

growing on it, no little bugs or flute flies came around it and that in of

itself tells you whether you should be eating it or not but let's talk a little

bit about margarine, where it came from and why I think butter is better.

So margarine was invented in roughly a hundred years ago, one of the original

uses according to the book I read was to fatten turkeys, it's this white kind of

clear substance and then they were trying to figure out how to get a return

on investment and they're like, well, we can't get anybody to eat the white clear

stuff so we better put a little bit of color in it and then what really took

off was when we were shipping it to soldiers in the Middle East because you

couldn't ship butter because of the temperatures that would melt but

margarine has a significantly higher temperature melting point than butter.

Now when you're shipping food, that might be a benefit but if you think about

people physiology, what we should talk about with that is if our normal body

temperature is 98.6 and margarine doesn't melt till over a hundred and ten

or a hundred and twenty degrees, what is the body gonna do with it? Well it puts

it along the 26,000 miles of circulatory pathways in the body so I could get a

little plastic layer there and in my opinion,

it significantly contributes to heart disease, there's an increased risk factor for

diabetes, it's really hard on insulin levels and you know, I really think to

tell people when they talk about margarine is, go take some Tupperware,

some plastic, put in the microwave and melt it, spread it on your toast and eat

it. Now that's kind of how I feel about margarine, I don't think it's healthy,

I don't think it's a long-term health solution, I think butter is a lot better

and there are different types of butter. I like traditional butter but you can

have almond butter, you can have coconut oil butter and some some other things

I think are a lot better for you. The margarine has way too many trans fatty

acids in it, it's not really a food, it's it's a fake food and I think it's really

hard on your long-term health, you're better off eating foods that

spoil. Butter, if you put it out in your in your garage or under a tree after a

couple days you'll see that it starts to rot and break down and bugs will eat it,

this is actually a good sign, you just don't want to eat it obviously when it's

rotten. So those are my thoughts on the butter and on the margarine discussion.

Butter's way healthier. There's a lot better things that you can do to put

melted plastic on your food.

Thanks for watching our video on butter versus

melted plastic on toast. I hope you got a lot of value out of the video, if you

liked it please give us a thumbs up.

Which Way Is Down? - Duration: 26:11.

Hey Vsauce! Michael here. Down here.

But which way is down?

And how much does down way well down raise about a hundredth of a gram per cubic centimeter?

It is light and airy which makes it a great source of insulation and buoyancy for water birds, but if you let go of down

It falls down

So that's which way down is it's the direction?

Gravity is pulling everything in now for someone on the other side of the earth my down is their up

But where are falling things going? Why do things fall?

Are they being pushed or pulled or is it because of time travel?

First things first let's turn the Sun into a black

Hole we can do that using universe sandbox 2 this simulator will blow your mind. I love it in fact

I love it so much

I put a code to keep the game for free in the current curiosity box if you're not subscribed to the box yet you are

missing out

Okay, look for the purposes of this video

We want the solar system and here it is notice that everything's moving pretty quickly around the Sun

That's because we currently have the game set so that every second that passes for us is

14 days almost in the game if I change this to

one second.

We're looking at the solar system in real time

You'll notice that it almost looks like it's frozen even though the earth is traveling around the Sun at about 30

Km/s it barely appears to be moving that is how vast space is anyway. Let's go back to 14 days

I like that motion now look at the Sun

It is not currently a black hole, but we can change that what we need to do is compress the Sun

So let's lock its mass so that it doesn't change while we make its radius smaller.

Let's make its radius as small as we can.

And oh where to go what's still there? It's just become a black hole.

Pretty spooky, but now let's look at the rest of the solar system all right zooming out and

Huh

nothing's

Changed. I mean something's changed.

It's colder and darker, but nothing's flying off into space or getting sucked in. You see by shrinking the Sun

We didn't change the direction of down for the planets

They're always being pulled by gravity towards its middle and making it smaller didn't move where the middle was but also

the strength of that force pulling them to the middle of the Sun

stayed the same.

That gives us a clue as to what down is the clue is the other thing we didn't change.

Mass.

Mass is a measure of how hard it is to accelerate.

Something to change its motion now right now these two balls have zero motion relative to me.

Slapping around this hollow plastic ball

is pretty easy, but doing the same to this solid steel ball,

there's a lot harder now.

Gravity and weight have nothing to do with this.

Gravity acts downward not against my horizontal

slapping. Of course gravity does contribute to friction, but friction works against me when I start moving the ball

But works with me when I stop the ball

And the steel ball is harder to stop than the plastic ball.

The difference is mass. The steel ball is more massive

It's more resistant to having its motion changed mass is an intrinsic property

It does not depend on what's around or change from place to place it can sometimes be thought of as the amount of matter

Something has your mass is the same regardless of where you are on the moon on earth in the middle of intergalactic space floating around

But all of this said mass does seem to care about what's around.

Mass loves company.

Things with mass and/or energy are attracted together by a force that we call gravity

The feeling of gravity is just you and the earth being attracted to one another

Now every portion of an object with mass attracts other portions towards it the average of all this pulling is an attraction between

centers of mass.

Giant things like Earth exert an obvious pull, but everything does even a baseball

These two baseballs are attracted together by their own gravity. Z'

Except their masses are so small the forces minuscule, and it can't overcome friction or push air out of the way

They're never gonna come together

But if you put two baseball's one meter apart in the middle of empty space where no other forces could act on them

They would literally fall together and collide.

It would take three days to happen, but it would

Isaac Newton found that the strength of the force bringing two things together is equal to the product of their masses

Divided by the distance between their centers of mass squared times big G the gravitational constant

If you make one of two objects more massive or move them closer together the force will be

Stronger and this force of attraction is what we call weight

So mass is intrinsic whereas weight depends on what's around

Now a weird thing happens when you weigh yourself on most scales

Weight is a force but scales display pounds or kilograms

Which are units of mass what's going on?

Is that a scale is

activated by a force?

Any force.

It doesn't have to be caused by gravity. The scale then displays what amount of mass

Near the surface of the earth would be attracted to the earth with the force. It's detecting

Now since scales tend to be used on the surface of the earth by people on which the only force acting is gravity

They tend to not be very far off, but they can be easily tricked and they further lead to the confusion between mass and weight

Notice that weight is mutual. You are pulled down by earth with the same force that you pull up on earth.

According to a scale I weigh

180 pounds on earth

And the earth weighs 180 pounds on me

but because the Earth's mass is so much greater than my own and

Because the more massive something is the more it resists being moved our

Equal and opposite weight forces accelerate me a lot more than the earth

If you drop a pencil from a height of 6 feet the pencil doesn't just fall to the earth more precisely

They both come together.

They're attracted to each other by equal forces

but the same force moves the pencil a

Lot more than the earth when you let go of the pencil the earth is literally pulled up

To the pencil by the pencils own gravity a distance equal to about 9 trillion

the width of a proton. That

same force moves the pencil the remaining distance, which is still pretty much six feet

At the height of the International Space Station's orbit you and earth are attracted about

10% less than when you're on the surface about eight point eight times your mass but not zero

for this reason weightless astronauts in zero gravity are neither weightless nor in zero gravity

their weight force fails to bring them and earth together because they move horizontally

So quickly that they fall. Just as fast as Earth's surface curves away from them and

Even though they're experiencing 90 percent of the gravity you and I are feeling right now

That's why they don't just fly away

There are no forces called g-forces to resist their weight since everything around them is falling to

Its resistance to your weight force stress

Deformation that is needed for you to feel weight what astronauts in orbit actually lack is

apparent weight

likewise a helium balloon has weight

I mean, it's made out of matter it clearly has mass so it's attracted to the earth

Let's try to measure its weight force

That's eight

Okay it has negative apparent weight

That's because it's attraction to the earth is weaker than the buoyant forces from the air around it that push it up

Now while it moves up

It pushes air molecules down, but they transfer that force widely. Not just directly down onto the scale

Buoyant forces are caused by the fact that whenever you are immersed in a fluid like water or air

Molecules lower down are at greater pressure

That are being pressed by the weight of all the molecules

Above them and are closer to earth so they're pulled to it with a stronger force now having greater pressure

Means they pack a bigger punch when they collide with things.

So

horizontally those collisions cancel out

But vertically the stronger collisions from below went out providing lift a buoyant force

This even happens on your own body across its surface area air lifts you with the force of about one

Newton which is equal to the weight force of an apple so if you weighed yourself in a vacuum you would weigh about

this much more

But that's not all Earth's spin causes it to bulge at the equator so the closer you are to it

The further you are from Earth's center of mass and the less your actual gravitational weight will be down is

Always changing, I mean

where is Earth's center of mass? It would always be the same as Earth's geometric middle if Earth's

composition was uniform, but earth contains pockets of massive rock at different depths water mountains

It's got moving changing insides and air and seasonal ice and though they're far away

Gravity extends forever from everything so the moon the Sun the planets all of them pull on you

negligibly,

But truly. You weigh about a millionth of your weight less when the moon is directly above you

This chunky shifting balance of material on earth and ever where else in the universe means that down is

always

changing on top of that Earth's spin

Skews what you consider the direction of down away from its center of mass because the push you get from Earth's spin

Seems to slightly lift you reducing your apparent weight and bending down

towards the equator

The net result is an apparent weight reduction at the equator of about half of a percent if a scale guesses your mass must be

200 pounds at the poles it'll guess that you're

199 at the equator. The 9.8

Multiplier used so often in physics is calculated based on how these factors affect someone at 45 degrees latitude

all of these influences on the direction of down result in a total vertical deflection.

That's only ever at most a few arc seconds anywhere on earth

That's not enough to be felt, but changes in direction and strength can be used to study the shape of the seafloor

Determine what's under you or even help you discover ancient buried rooms?

Point is all of our downs aren't a bunch of radially symmetric lines

Down is an uncombed mess.

Now since solids don't flow they can have shapes that don't pay much mind to this but water can

Flow so ignoring influences like wind and tides the surface of oceans and lakes and puddles is always perpendicular

To down if water could pass through land, or if earth were submerged in water

Gravity would be the same everywhere along its bumpy surface

Such a surface is called a geoid and can be drawn at any altitude

If you wanted to build a table that completely enclosed the earth it would have to have rolling undulation

Z' nearly 100 meters at some points in order to be

Level so that a ball placed anywhere on it wouldn't roll

Here is Earth's G. I exaggerated a thousand times

You'd weigh about a hundredth of a percent less a few grams here?

Then you would say here where gravity is a bit stronger point is the strength and direction

Down is variable by location and changes over time

So down is a fluctuating vector easy enough except?

Why should matter attract matter in the first place?

Isaac Newton was able to describe attraction, but not explain it

humanity got closer however when Albert Einstein introduced his general theory of relativity

Einstein thought a lot about the fact that everything falls to the ground

At the same rate no matter

How massive something is when dropped it will accelerate towards the earth down gaining about 9.8

Meters per second for every second that it falls that means that a hammer

That's quite massive and a not so massive feather when dropped from the same height will hit the ground at the same time

Okay, what just happened?

was in error

in

Order to fall through air a thing has to push air out of the way

But if it has a large surface area and a low weight force it will have a lot of air to move

But will be able to move that air very quickly in a vacuum things do fall at the same rate regardless

Of mass this was famously demonstrated by Apollo, 15 commander David Scott on the moon

That's weird right I mean if a more massive object is pulled with a greater force

Shouldn't it fall faster. Well Newton's explanation was simple

Larger masses are attracted with greater forces

But will also require more force to be accelerated the same as a less massive thing

Something a hundred times more massive might require a hundred times the force, but it will be pulled by gravity

100 times more so everything falls to earth at the same rate

What a fun coincidence right?

Maybe not

Einstein realized that there's another way for things to appear to fall together

of their masses

Imagine a feather and a hammer floating in space in a room if the room is suddenly accelerated up at 9.8

M/s^2 the feather and the hammer will hit the floor at the same time

furthermore whether it's the room coming up to meet them or gravity being suddenly switched on

Neither object will feel any force pushing them

There's no way to tell which of these happen. This is Einstein's famous

equivalence principle

He once admitted that his greatest thought ever was that of a man

falling off of a roof

While falling the man would not feel any forces on him even though. He's speeding up

freefall is

Indistinguishable from floating alone in space from having no forces on you from not being moved

What if gravity isn't a force at all what if things fall not because they're being pushed or pulled

But because they're not being pushed or pull

To see how this could be we need to talk about straight lines

What I have here is a retractable ID badge holder

This is a great way to test for straight paths

Because the string is always kept taut the card

I have behind has two lines drawn on it

And if while I pull the string out it always stays between those two lines

I will know that I never turned

While I pulled it because any turn will translate into a different angle between the lines on the card and the string

Now if I put two of these on a flat table and pull them out always ensuring that they go straight ahead

They will never meet. They will be forever parallel, but now let's put them on a sphere a curved surface

Again, I pull both strings forward making sure that they always are pulled out straight. No turning

Wait they came together

Well, they didn't turn look

Maybe there's some kind of weird force that pulled my hands together and just like gravity. I didn't feel it, but it happened

No

What happened was not the result of a force it was just a natural result of?

Curvature you might be thinking wait a second are those really straight lines. I mean they don't look that straight to me

Also, what if they've just moved along latitude lines then they've never come together and those look pretty darn straight

But they're not a straight line never turns and although latitude lines look straight at first glance

following one requires

Turning to find straight line paths on surfaces whether they're flat like this or curved

I love the written text now you can use an actual ribbon

But I have found that a strip of paper works. Even better. Let's take a look at this path right here

It's straight at first, but then it curves now if two people are traveling along this curve

And they want to stay together the person on the inside will have to cover a shorter distance than the person on the outside

Since both sides of this strip of paper cannot change their lengths

They'll help us find a straight path if the strip of paper can lay flat

We'll know that we have found a straight line and as you can see

The strip can lay flat and follow the straight part of this path

But when it comes to the curve in order to follow the path now

The strip well it has too much material on the inside and that material

Bunches up and leaves the plane therefore we know that this part of the path is not straight

Let's use the ribbon test to find straight lines on the surface of a cone

Well from the looks of it aligned directly from the base to the tip seems like it would be straight and sure enough

Yeah, the ribbon lays flat on that path, but what about a ring around the cone?

Nope doesn't work shorter distances around nearer the tip of the cone mean that there's too much ribbon up at the top

So doesn't lay flat

Let's see what else is there though besides this well if I start here and just allow the ribbon

to lay flat

Huh I get a little curvy looking shape like this

I say curvy looking because while to someone say at the base this path might seem to go up

Slow down change direction and then fall down faster and faster since a ribbon on such a path is flat

It's actually for inhabitants on the cones surface

Perfectly straight if we trace the ribbons path on to the cone

We can see this clearly because a cone can be flattened a straight line on a curved surface is called a geodesic

Here is a geodesic on a sphere the Equator is one

Here's another a line of latitude is not a geodesic

It's not a straight line to see why let's try to follow it with the ribbon you

Know what I have to keep kind of lifting it

Yeah, see distances around the sphere becomes shorter as we go up

So there's too much material on the ribbon up here

and it leaves the surface this path contains turns and in order to turn a

Force has to act on you if no forces

Did this is the path you would take notice that the ribbon begins moving due east, but then falls

south

Falls

Einstein realized that curvature could cause things to be seemingly attracted to one another

Without needing to invent the existence of forces like gravity

but attraction only happens if things move along the surface if they stay still they

Well, they don't come together so for something at rest. How does falling begin?

I mean the thing has to move in this direction, but it's at rest right well

Yes

But it's only at rest in space and that's not the whole story up down

Forward backward and left-right are all you need to describe where an event occur but a complete description will also need to describe

When together these four dimensions form the setting in which everything in our universe happens

Space-time

Since we can talk about a falling pencil using just one spatial dimension up and down we can use a piece of paper to model

Space-time for it. Okay, so we've got up and down, but we have to add another

direction the pencil moves in

time

Now if no forces act on the pencil it won't move through space

It will only get older and as you can see if all it does is get older

It won't fall if space-time was flat when I let go of the pencil

it wouldn't go anywhere, but now let's allow the earth which is massive to manipulate space-time into say a

cone

Now with no forces acting on it every part of the pencil follows a straight line

But on a cone as we saw earlier such a path will look like this it will fall

This is because distances around the cone are shorter higher up

Time runs faster further from a massive object, but to go straight

Not turn every part of the pencil must cover an equal distance in space-time

like this

Only when the pencil hits the earth does the repulsion of their mutual electrons provide a force pushing the pencil off a geodesic

For the earth time is a series of slices from this evolution the pencils force-free

Geodesic is why it falls not a push or pull just the pencils natural tendency to follow a straight line

Until something acts on it now. We only used one dimension of space and one of time because

Visualizing our universes three of space and one of time would take us beyond the limits of what could be shown on paper or screens

but math

Can take us there

General relativity allows us to calculate how much mass and energy

Curved space-time and has been used to explain things that Newton's older theory of falling as the result of

Forces couldn't like anomalies in the orbit of mercury which orbits nearest the Sun and is therefore most affected by the sun's grip on

space-time many other experiments have confirmed general relativity's picture of the universe fitting the conclusion that

There is no

Gravity there's just

Space-time its curvature and a senate as John Wheeler famously put it

Space-time grips mass telling it how to move mass grips space-time telling it how to curve?

Relative to the earth we don't move very fast even jet airplanes move negligibly close to the speed of light

So relative to earth we move almost

Exclusively through time as such we are more affected by the way time is curved by mass

Than how space is curved?

This has led many to claim that for the most part you feel as though you're being pushed into the ground

Not because of a force called gravity

But because time is moving faster for your head than for your feet down is

Relative and always changing, but it exists because of and is always in the direction of slower time

Bertrand Russell called this the law of cosmic laziness

Everything is naturally steered towards where time is slowest we call this falling

going

So you don't have to keep anything on the down-low

time will take care of that for you and

as always

Wix or WordPress - Which Is The Better Website Builder? - Duration: 27:50.

A question that's becoming increasingly more common of people looking for a

website today is "What should I use to build my website?" Just a few years ago,

the answer without hesitation for many people would have been WordPress. But

today there's so many players in the game that purpose should be a strong

consideration. Do you need something fast? Do you need to support an online shop? Do

you need tech support in general or do you need complete control? Depending on

your answer, your platform will vary. One of the younger, purpose-driven

players that gets more and more popular is Wix. In this video, we'll look at which

is a better platform for your purpose Wix or WordPress. We'll judge our

platforms on a few criteria and go over a few concepts like: How are the two

different? What are the benefits of each? How easy is the setup process? How

flexible is each platform? And, a cost analysis. Note that we are comparing Wix

to the self-hosted version of WordPress. This is the one that you download and

install yourself from the WordPress.org repository. By far, the biggest difference

between Wix and WordPress is that WordPress is standalone software that

you need to install. Only then do you get to use it as the software running your

site. Wix, on the other hand, is a tool or service that you sign up for. Once you

sign up, Wix allows you to build, then manage your website, all within Wix.com.

It takes care of the hosting and it does all of the technical heavy lifting. Think

of it this way. Wix vs. WordPress is much like Google Docs versus Microsoft Word.

So, first, we'll talk about setting up a site on Wix. A few of the things you

should know about Wix is that it's an all-in-one platform; there's no need to

buy a domain or set up hosting. There are no coding skills required. The price can

range from completely free to $18/month or more. Over 70 million people are

using Wix and Wix has 24/7 support. When you log in for the first time, Wix will

ask you what kind of website you want to create. You can choose from different

types of categories and these categories will show you different templates and

different apps that you can install that will be helpful for you. We're going to

choose business and then Wix is going to ask us how we want to create our website.

We can do it one of two ways. We can let the Wix ADI create a website for us. The

Wix ADI is an automation process that will ask us a few questions and then put

our content together. We can also do it ourselves using the Wix Editor. We'll

start with the template and easily drag and drop anything on the pages in the

exact way that we want it to. If you want to get up and running quickly you should

check out the Wix ADI, but in this video we're going to use the Wix Editor. So

let's choose a template. We're provided templates based on

different categories that Wix has organized based on what we've selected.

We're going to go with a consulting website. So we'll choose the template The

Consultant. Once we select to edit our template, Wix

will put together a starting site for us. You can see that it has a lot of great

content already created for us that we just need to customize and so we're

going to put together three pages: the home page, an about page, and a contact

page. So let's first start by looking at how to change the background color. You

can see that there are a few capsules over here on the left and that the first

one is "Background". When we click on it we have the ability to change the

background to color, image, or video, but keep in mind that this is the background

for the entire page. So when we choose a color, it's going to change the

background of the site where we don't have a background already specified. You

can see for this template that each row has its own designated color. So how do

we change that? Luckily, Wix makes it very easy to do

that. We can select the row that we want to change here and then we can click on

"change strip background". So to change the background for this strip, we click on

"change strip background" and we're presented with a very similar interface

to what we saw for the page background. We can also upload our own images, choose

from images on our social media accounts, or buy professional stock imagery from a

stock image website. To upload an image, go to "My Images" and

click "upload images". You'll then be presented with a dialog box where you

can choose the images from your computer.

Once the image uploads, you can select it and click "change background". If you need

to change the positioning of the background, you can do that by clicking

"Settings" and here you're presented with some stylistic options for image opacity,

color behind the image, different scrolling effects, and even position of

the image. It's important here that you choose an

appropriately-sized image for the section that you want to use the image

for. Having it centered perfectly works very well for this image.

We've also selected the "parallax" scroll effect. So now we can go back and X

this out and we can change the rest of the content on the page. First up, we

should change the title of the site; we're going to want to change this to

our name and to change text you simply double click on it. The text is then

highlighted which indicates to you that you can change it.

Notice that the styling for the text is removed when we change the text

completely, but we also have a "Text Settings" dialog box so we can choose

from some pre-selected styles. We can choose our own font -- and these fonts are

generated from Google Fonts and we can also change the font size.

Make sure to have the text selected as you're changing these things, though.

Otherwise, your changes will not take.

Once our title is set, we can click the X and our changes are made.

The same thing goes for any other text anywhere else on the page. Having a clear

call-to-action is also very important for your website. Especially if it's a

business website. Luckily, Wix allows us to easily add and

create buttons and other elements. By clicking the "Add" capsule, you're

presented with a new menu that shows you a bunch of different types of content

that you can drag on to your page including a button. And these buttons are

organized by theme (which means that these buttons were created specifically

for your theme) as well as different types of style of buttons.

If we don't like the button that's accompanied with our theme, we can click

on it and press the Delete key to remove it. We can then go back to our "Add" capsule

to the button section and add one that we like better.

We can add a button by dragging it onto the page and placing it exactly where we

want it. You'll notice that Wix gives you some

cues to know if your information is aligned, but it doesn't strictly limit

you to specific sections of the page. If we want our button to be up in the top

left content area, then we can do that. If we drag it out of a content area, you'll

see the section become grey with red lines and, when we drag it there, Wix will

let us know that our content is outside the area where our content shows on

smaller screens. so we'll drag this back to where we

originally had it, lining up the rest of the content. If we want to make it bigger,

we can do that by hovering over the element and dragging it.

You can change the text of the button by clicking "Change Text" and you can also

change the link. Clicking on "Add A Link" will allow you to specify the page you

want your button to go to. You can also choose a specific anchor on

the current page you're on (that is a section of the page you're on)

or a manual web address. We are going to have this button linked

to the Content section.

Finally, we want our button text to be a little bit bigger. So we can change the

design of our button by clicking on the "Design" button and then clicking

"Customize Design". Here we're given an area similar to what we saw above where

we can choose the font that we want as well as the font size. Notice here we

don't need to have the specific text selected in order for our changes to

take place.

So now we're going to learn how to modify an interior page. You can do that

by clicking on the horizontal menu and then clicking "Navigate".

Once you do that, a "Pages" area will pop up. You'll notice that it's the same menu

that exists in the top left. Clicking any page from this area will

automatically change the page where you can make the modifications that you want.

On the About page we have our team. If you want to make significant changes to

the About page, you can do so by highlighting a large amount of the text

and any text that you select will be highlighted in a blue border box.

And then you can make changes to all of it at the same time including deleting

it. Selecting large amounts of text at the

same time can be tricky so this might take a few tries.

You can then add the types of content you want to your about page using the

"Add" capsule. So if you have a specific video you want to play or social media

buttons or a slideshow, you can easily do that here.

We're going to modify the text as well as the alignment

and then we're going to add an image.

Once the image is added, we can drag it into place, resize it, and more.

If we have text that we want to copy the style for, we can easily do that by

right-clicking on it and clicking "Duplicate". So there's a simple About page

for us. The last page that we're going to create is our Contact Form. So there's

two things that we're going to do here. We're going to manage our page menu by

deleting the content pages that we don't need. You can do that by clicking on one

of the pages and then clicking the "Delete" button. You can see that our

Contact page is actually an anchor on the home page so we're also going to

create a brand new page. We'll delete that anchor and then click

"Add Page", we'll name it contact, and then click "Done". You can see that we're given

a simple, default section based on our previous settings

so the first thing we're going to do is change the background of our page. We

don't want it to be this snowboarder; we want it to be a completely white page.

Now we're going to use the "Add" capsule to add multiple pieces of contact

information. You can see that Contact has its own entry under "Add" and here we can

add different types of forms as well as Google Maps. So the first thing we're

going to do is add a Google map by dragging it onto the page.

You can change the address by clicking on "Change Address" and putting in your

office address and then you can change the description, too.

We'll add some simple paragraph text to also note the contact information here.

Finally, we'll add a contact form by clicking "Add", going down to Contact,

and dragging a form onto the page. The main thing we'll need to do for this

form is set our email address so that we know where the form will go to when

somebody fills it out. We can also change the fields that are

required. Now it's time to save our work. To do

that, we'll click "Save" and, if we haven't previously saved the site, Wix will

present us with a free Wix domain. You can also add a custom domain which Wix

will walk you through the process of setting up. But for here, we'll use a free

Wix domain. Once our site is saved, we can choose to do two things:

publish it or click "Done" to continue editing.

We'll want to make sure that our sites working completely as expected so we're

going to want to make sure that our menu is working

and by reordering the navigation in the order that we want it to.

Once the site's published, you can click

"View Site". One note is if you're using a free Wix site, there will be

advertisements for Wix on the top right and across the bottom. You can get a

premium account to remove those. With our Wix site created, now let's take a look

at creating a similar site with WordPress. A few notes about setting up a

WordPress site. You're going to need to buy hosting and a domain to install

WordPress which means that you need to be at least somewhat technical or you

need to hire somebody to do that for you. WordPress's power is in its flexibility.

There are thousands of designs or themes to choose from and even more plugins to

extend the functionality of your website. WordPress is free to download, but you'll

need to pay for hosting and a domain separately which will cost at minimum

around $15/year. There's also no support per se for WordPress. You

can't get professional support through WordPress.org, but you can hire an

outside company to support WordPress for you. One note on choosing hosting, WinningWP

has a few videos and articles on that which you can find in the description

below, but there are a few notes about hosting. Many hosts offer one-click or

easy install for WordPress. However, if your host does not offer one-click

install for WordPress, you're going to have to create a database on your server,

you're going to have to modify the wp-config file with your database

credentials, and then you're going to have to FTP the WordPress files up to

your server. We're going to start right after the installation process, but note

that doing this the manual way requires at least some technical knowledge. Once

WordPress is installed, you're presented with the WordPress dashboard. The first

thing we're going to do is choose a theme and we can do that by going to

Appearance → Themes. Depending on your host, WordPress will

come pre-installed with a few themes including the current year's theme.

You can choose a new theme by clicking "Add New Theme". You'll then be presented

with a set of free themes to choose from. They are organized a few ways including

Featured, Popular, and Latest. If you have a corresponding WordPress.com account,

you can also load in your favorite WordPress themes. Finally, you can filter

themes by feature so you can choose things like one column, if you want to

customize the headers, as well as different subjects. Once we see something

we like, we can go ahead and select that, preview it, and install it. Once the theme

is installed, we can activate it and then we'll see a few notifications on the

WordPress dashboard which we can dismiss. The next thing we're going to do is

install a couple of important plugins that we'll need to finish our website.

We can do that by going to Plugins -> Add New. We'll then see some of the most

popular WordPress plugins here. The main thing that we'll need is a

contact form builder. Unlike Wix, WordPress does not come with

this functionality out of the box. We're going to choose a popular, free plugin

called Ninja Forms and we're going to install that plugin and activate it.

With our theme selected and our plugins installed, it's time to start creating

our content. Once again there's no drag-and-drop interface. So we'll create

the page Home and then we'll add some text to it. We can format the text in a

similar way that you would see in Microsoft Word with this icons bar,

we can add different styles to our text, and we can upload images by clicking on

"Add Media".

Depending on the theme you're using, there may also be support for templates

and featured images.

So now that we have our Home page we'll

create an About page.

The interface for each of these pages is going to be very similar because they

all use the same WordPress editor. The last thing we'll do is create a Contact

page. The first thing we need to do before

creating the page is create a contact form which we can do with Ninja Forms. So

we'll hover over Ninja Forms and go to "add new" and the beautiful thing about

Ninja Forms is that it gives us a few form templates to choose from.

It also creates a contact form when we install it which is what we're going to

use. You can see that the Ninja Forms editor looks very different from the

WordPress editor, but it's a bit more intuitive for new users. With our Ninja

Form created, we'll now create the Contact page. We can add our form by clicking the

"Add Form" button and then choosing the form that we want from the drop down

list. You'll notice that we don't actually see the form, but we see what's

known as a shortcode. WordPress knows to convert this to a contact form once we

publish the page. So when we view the page we'll see a

fully functioning form. The last thing we need to do is turn our WordPress site

into something that's not inherently blog first. With Wix, Wix isn't exactly a

blogging platform. It's focused on websites for small businesses. That's the

opposite with WordPress. WordPress started off as a blogging platform and

so we need to convert it to a business page. We can do that by clicking on

"Customize". You'll notice that we see an interface

similar to Wix's drag-and-drop interface now, but we don't have as much freedom.

The thing that we can do is go to "Static Front Page" and tell WordPress that we

want our homepage to be the first one to show up.

Next, we'll want to modify our navigation.

We can do that by going to "Menus" and then clicking "Add a Menu". We'll call this

menu "Main Navigation". We'll click "Create Menu" and then we'll

choose the display location. Certain themes come with multiple display

locations for menus so you can have one in the header, in the footer, or in a

specific area for a page template. This one only has one and it's the Header

Menu. You can see when we select that that our menu disappears. That's because

we need to add items to it. So we'll add our Home page, our About page, and our

Contact page. Once we do that, our navigation changes.

We'll also want to change the tagline from the default WordPress one. For this

demo, we'll delete the tagline. You might have also noticed that there

is a section on each page that says "Assign A Widget". This is a widget area. We

can change the content of these areas by clicking on widgets and then choosing

the different widget areas. You can see that there are three "Assign A Widget"

sections and three widget areas. Widgets allow us to add dynamic content to each

page of our website. So if we want to do things like add a new piece of

navigation, add a search bar, or more, we can do that using the widget areas.

Once we have the changes we want, we can

click "Save and Publish". This will publish out any changes we've made. One more note

about the customizer. Each theme is going to have different options for the

customizer so as you evaluate your theme make sure to use one that gives you the

flexibility that you want. This was just a quick overview of both Wix and

WordPress. We barely scratched the surface on the feature set of each and

we just set up a simple three page website. With Wix you can add a lot more

functionality by adding apps or modules including one for blogging and

eCommerce. With WordPress, while we installed one plugin, there are

a lot more we can install to give us the functionality that we need for our

website. WordPress is also working on its own drag-and-drop interface called

Gutenberg, but it's not quite ready for production yet. So now that we've used

both platforms, let's look at the pros and cons of each. With Wix, everything

happens within Wix.com. You don't need to worry about installing it or go

anywhere else to set it up. You also don't need to worry about the technical

stuff. It's got drag-and-drop site building functionality which makes it a

lot easier to get the exact layouts for every page that you want. It's also a lot

quicker to use than WordPress and there's also support. Some of the

WordPress pros is that it's free and open-source software which means that if

you need to add functionality you can hire somebody to write the code for you

or you can code it yourself. There are also thousands of themes and plugins to

choose from -- many more than Wix -- which means that it's a lot more expandable so

you can cover a lot more different types of sites on WordPress.

There's a lot more design options and it's also the most popular CMS on the

web, powering over 28% of the web. It gets frequent updates and has a lively

community. It's got great blogging and content management capabilities. A lot

better than Wix which uses basic text boxes as opposed to more indexable types

of content that you see in WordPress. If we take a look at the cons, Wix can take

your site down at any point; you're never in full control of it. Not all of the

designs available on Wix look good so you might have to test a bunch. You can't

change your site design later. You're stuck with whatever you choose when you

initially configure your site and not all designs are SEO friendly.

Customization is limited as far as functionality goes and everything needs

to be pre-approved by Wix if you want to add it as a module. Some of the WordPress

cons is that launching a web site is not as easy. It requires additional cost and

technical knowledge. If your hosting company isn't very cooperative, you have

to do all the heavy lifting yourself. Themes, as you've seen, can also work very

differently from one another. Mastering one does not mean you've

mastered all of them and the same goes for plugins. The Admin Dashboard isn't

very intuitive and there's not necessarily support. So, who's the winner?

Well, it all depends on what you need. If you need a website up and running

incredibly quickly for relatively low cost, Wix is the way to go. But if you

need something where you need complete control over the functionality that you

add or even need custom functionality, WordPress is definitely the way to go.

That's it for this video. If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the

Which Athlete Won Halloween? LeBron James, P.K. Subban Highlight Best Costumes

Call it the ultimate social media holiday.

Halloween officially is upon us, and while us normal folks prepare for a standard night of trick-or-treating, professional athletes with deep pockets are going all-out with some pretty impressive costumes — that they're not afraid to show off on Twitter and Instagram.

So, which athletes rocked the best Halloween costume in 2017? Any discussion has to start with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, whose Halloween bash Monday night brought out some seriously spooky get-ups.

Here's LeBron as Pennywise from "IT," in what might be the costume of the year:

Dwyane Wade and wife Gabrielle Union killed it as R&B duo Milli Vanilli.

But did Tristan Thompson and Khloe Kardashian have them beat for best couples' costume with this "Game of Thrones" look (via Khloe Kardashian's Snapchat)?

Kevin Love and J.R. Smith also joined the fun, while Isaiah Thomas brought the heat as Eazy-E.

That's a solid showing by the Cavs, but Nashville Predators defenseman and Halloween All-Star P.K. Subban brought his A-game again this year.

As if Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Geno Atkins wasn't scary enough…

Speaking of scary, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry frightened a few little children earlier this week as Jigsaw.

Randy Moss and Charles Woodson did the ol' switcheroo:

Giancarlo Stanton, another Halloween All-Star, put forth a strong effort for the second straight year.

You knew someone was going as Donald Trump.

These are all pretty great, but James and Subban are a cut above. And if we had to choose between the two, we'll take LeBron for his imitation of reality.

Which Is The Healthiest Type Of Onion - Duration: 2:29.

Which Is The Healthiest Type Of Onion (No, They're Not All The Same)

if you don't know about these type of onions then must watch this video till the end.

Recipes often call for just "onions" without specifying the type, and it's easy to default

to plain old white or yellow ones.

But is that the right choice for your health?

Turns out, there's one variety of onions that's better for you than the others.

A 2017 study published in Food Research International found that red onions were most effective

at killing human cancer cells compared with other onions thanks to their higher levels

of the antioxidants quercetin and anthocyanin.

"Anthocyanin is instrumental in providing color to fruits and vegetables, so it makes

sense that the red onions, which are darkest in color, would have the most cancer-fighting

power," says study author Suresh Neethirajan, PhD.

However, red onions aren't the only ones with these benefits.

"All onions are potent cancer fighters thanks to their high concentrations of the antioxidants

anthocyanin and quercetin," says Karen Ansel RDN.

Red onions just happen to be even better at fighting cancer thanks to their highest amounts

of anthocyanin, which increase the effectiveness of quercetin in attacking cancer-causing free

radicals, she adds.

Luckily, red onions swap in easily in place of white.

Try substituting the colorful variety anytime your usual recipes call for white or yellow

onions for an extra boost of powerful antioxidants (and flavor).

High-End Gyms Versus Old-School Gyms: Which One Is Right For You?gymnastics: - Duration: 6:50.

High-End Gyms Versus Old-School Gyms: Which One Is Right For You?

If youve ever wondered whether you can only find gyms and fitness centers in cities, I have news for you: Theyre everywhere.

Just for fun, I Googled how many gyms are within a 10-mile radius of my house in a small town 60-miles northeast of Philadelphia.

The answer: 39! That seems like a lot for our neck of the woods.

Berks County, Pennsylvania, is no hotbed of fitness, either.

People here love their potato chips, pretzels, and of course, beer.

Health, fitness, and nutrition dont seem to be things people here spend a lot of time or money gaining access to.

But somebody must be going to these gyms that charge anywhere from $10-50 per month—and sometimes much more.

We have a mix of gyms in our little corner of the world.

Weve got the chains, including Planet Fitness, Anytime Fitness, LA Fitness, Retro Fitness, Golds Gym, and the YMCA.

We also have smaller independent gyms with a fraction of the square footage, equipment, and amenities the chains offer.

They exist to serve people looking for a more intimate, authentic atmosphere.

Generally, these smaller independent gyms must charge more than the chains, which can be one of the factors that push budget-wise people to choose the more affordable over the more authentic—and can push less market-savvy gyms out of business.

Champagne Toasts For New PRs?.

By high-end gyms, Im referring to places like Equinox, where you can easily pay well over $100 per month for a gym membership.

Every amenity under the sun is at your disposal—as long as youre willing to pay top dollar for them.

The very latest, top-of-the-line equipment? Check.

Large flat-screen televisions throughout the facility? Naturally.

Steam rooms and saunas? You got it.

Eucalyptus-scented towelettes handed to you as you enter the locker room? But of course!.

Some of these gyms also provide manicures, pedicures, and haircuts so patrons can emerge from their workouts cleaned, coiffed, and ready for the corner office.

Many upscale gyms also feature the newest and most advanced technology, including retina scanners that allow only the select few to enter.

These establishments have everything you need to improve your health and fitness.

There are still some essentials only you can provide, though, like dedication and hard work.

No matter how highfalutin or humble the gym, these ingredients are strictly BYO.

Dark, Smelly, Run-Down Beauty.

Many old school gyms still operate across the country and, in fact, are experiencing something of a rebirth, offering authenticity the way many fancy places offer cryotherapy.

These places tend to fall more often into the no-judgment zones where you are welcomed no matter how much you lift or where you got your workout gear.

Some of these places are old, with lots of character and history behind them.

Step into one and you may see old photos of long-gone bodybuilding stars, cracked upholstery, and broken, dusty, has-been machines slumped in dark corners.

Some people consider these places dumps, but others prefer to think of them as well loved and broken in..

Theres chalk dusk on the bars, on the floors, on the hands—everywhere.

Stacks of 45-pound weight plates and dumbbells in excess of 150 pounds let you know youre where the beasts dwell.

You are in the home of the hardcore, the dungeon of the dedicated. Metroflex in Long Beach, California, is one prime example, but there are countless others scattered across the land.

To Each Their Own.

No matter where you hang your dip belt, the weights still weigh the same and you still need to exert the same effort to get them up in the air.

Spending $50 per month on a gym membership doesnt make the iron any lighter or make fat melt away quicker.

Ten miles on the treadmill at $100 a month is the same distance at $10 a month.

I get it.

Some people are under a lot of stress.

To them, going to the gym might be shorthand for going someplace where they can feel pampered, wind down, and maybe get in a little cardio.

I consider myself to be among the brotherhood of the iron and seek out that dank, dingy basement where I can slam around some iron, grunt, and curse.

No matter where you live these days, youre bound to find both spa-like gyms and old-school iron pits—and everything else in between. Find a gym that works for you, that has your kind of people in it, and offers the services youre interested in—whether thats hour-long massages or squat lessons.

Make your choice, get yourself in there at least three times a week, and your body and mind will thank you.

Things to know Which vitamins should you actually buy? - Duration: 16:16.

Which vitamins should you actually buy?

But what is the best science on how helpful these products really are?.

We need vitamins in our diet to be healthy.

If you're severely deficient in vitamin C,.

you can get scurvy.

If you have too little vitamin D as a child,.

you can get bowed legs — a condition called rickets.

And not enough Vitamin A? That could make you go blind.

In the 1920s and '30s, when scientists started discovering.

these seemingly magical vitamins, people were so excited.

about them that they added them to food, like flour and dairy products.

Fortifying milk with vitamin D helped lead to an almost complete.

eradication of rickets in the US. Soon,.

companies started turning vitamins into little pills and bottling them.

And they were an immediate hit.

But, the messaging around vitamins quickly shifted.

Vitamins were no longer just protecting you from scurvy or rickets.

, but preventing chronic diseases like dementia and heart disease.

, and helping you live your best life.

The big question is: do vitamins have that power?.

To find out, scientists track large groups of people.

to see if taking vitamins reduces the risk of getting certain diseases.

When vitamin B supplements are put under the microscope.

researchers find "no evidence" that they prevent heart disease.

, strokes or cancer. Vitamin B also.

"does not appear to improve cognitive function" in healthy people.

, or those who are starting to go a little dotty.

As for helping people with depression.

? It wasn't particularly useful for that either.

But when.

it came to improving depression, or dementia the researchers say more work is needed.

There is evidence that taking vitamin C and zinc lozenges.

could help you get over your cold a bit faster.

"The evidence for zinc lozenges is very strong,".

says Harri Hemilä at the University of Helsinki in Finland.

But, there's not good evidence these supplements.

will keep you from getting sick in the first place.

A vitamin C and zinc lozenge will probably help once you get crook.

But don't waste your money popping pills in the hope they'll prevent a cold in the first place.Source:Supplied.

And maybe you've heard we're experiencing a pandemic of vitamin D deficiency.

Even the US Rapper, Ludacris is worried about it.

(Well, he might have been rapping about something else.

) But, the story with vitamin D is complicated.

To know if we are low on vitamin D, scientists would have to agree on one thing.

— exactly how much vitamin D we need.

And perhaps surprisingly,.

scientists are still debating this.

"There is a lot of animated discussion right now,".

said Professor Katherine Tucker, a nutritional.

epidemiologist at the University of Massachusetts in Lowell.

Part of the debate is that it's unclear what vitamin D is beneficial for.

A team brought together by the Institute of Medicine in the US several.

years ago wrote that vitamin D was important for bone health.

But, they said, other conditions, like diabetes, depression or cancer,.

could not be "linked reliably or consistently" to vitamin D.

Yet, other scientists disagree.

What about vitamin E? "The new evidence says, no, don't take it,.

" Professor Tucker said.

A decade ago there was a big push for people to take vitamin E,.

but then scientists realised it actually wasn't that.

helpful and might even increase your risk of some kinds of cancers.

Finally, we know that eating a diet full of fruits and vegies packed.

with different nutrients can help us live longer and prevent heart disease.

But what happens when you extract those vitamins into one big.

multivitamin? "There's been some big studies that show.

they didn't really have major effect," Professor Tucker said.

You'll probably get the vitamins you need eating a wider variety of healthy foods, as there's not much evidence to suggest a multivitamin will help.

Picture: William West / AFPSource:AFP.

One large study recruited 14,000 older men, and gave half multivitamins.

while the other half were given a placebo.

The men were tracked for more than a decade.

And, after all that work?.

There was no difference in rates of heart attacks and heart disease between the two groups.

Curiously, the men who took the multivitamins had a slightly reduced.

risk of cancer.

But the researchers said we shouldn't get too excited,.

because other large studies have been really mixed.

But Professor Tucker wasn't ready to throw out the.

multivitamins just yet as she said a few large studies into.

multivitamins have been done in.

doctors and they might have better diets than your average Joe.

So, for people who aren't eating so well,.

"it doesn't hurt to take a multivitamin for insurance," she said,.

Overall, it doesn't look like vitamins in a pill do all that much.

But studying the benefit of taking vitamins in large groups.

of people is really tricky, and all the research.

we have can't really tell us whether you, personally, should be taking vitamins or not.
