Hi. Today I will show you how to make sitting gnome.

I made it by request from my viewers.

Detailed list of all needed items is in the description of this video.

Cut a triangle with a slightly rounded edges out of fabric.

Turn it wrong side out...

...and sew the edges but leave a hole.

Turn the fabric right side out.

Cut 2 long strips for legs...

...and 2 shorter strips for arms.

Turn a strip wrong side out and sew it. Leave a small hole.

Turn it right side out.

Fill it by using cotton wool.

Cut a shape of shoe out of fabric.

Sew it to the leg.

Fill it by using cotton wool...

...and sew it. Do a second leg in the same way.

Now sew a shorter strip.

Turn it right side out...

...and fill it by using cotton wool.

Cut a shape of glove.

Sew it to the arm. Do a second arm in the same way.

Next, sew the legs to the body.

Sew the arms to the body.

Cut a shape of beard out of fur.

Sew it to body.

Now put a rice inside the body. It should fill about 3/4 of height.

Make a ball out of cotton wool, wrap it by using tights...

...and secure it by using thread.

Cut off an excess of fabric.

Sew the nose to the body.

Fill the body by using cotton wool...

...and sew the hole.

Cut a shape of hat out of fabric.

Sew it,..

...turn it right side out...

...and fill it by using cotton wool.

Sew it to the body.

Decorate the hat by using white fur.

Do the same with gloves and shoes.

And it's done.

This gnome is a cool winter decoration.

You can place it on windowsill or on a cabinet.

If you don't have a fur you can use a yarn or a boa scarf.

Please give a like to this video and subscribe to my channel.

Thanks for watching. Bye bye.

Jose Mourinho admits Manchester United line-up mistake and digs out Marcus Rashford - Duration: 2:50.

Jose Mourinho admits Manchester United line-up mistake and digs out Marcus Rashford

Jose Mourinho was scathing in his assessment of Manchester United's attacking performance against Brighton on Saturday and admits he fielded too many forwards.

Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata all started on Saturday, supporting Romelu Lukaku,.

in what seemed to be a reaction to criticism – not least from club legend Eric Cantona – that he is too negative.

But United won only thanks to a fortuitous own goal from Lewis Dunk and struggled to create chances, with Mourinho saying it was a case of too many cooks spoiling the broth.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, he explained:.

'I would be surprised if today the pundits say we played with too many attackers.

 I would be surprised.

'But if they do say that, they would be right,.

because sometimes you play with too many attackers and you lose control of the game.

'We had a few problems defensively because [Nemanja] Matic and [Paul] Pogba were a bit isolated in the centre of the park.

'If you compensate that with more creation that's good, that's a good risk.

Against Newcastle it was good because we were not very solid defensively but we were really strong in creation.

'Today our creation was poor.

The three players that played with Lukaku they did not get the ball, they were not good in the one-on-ones.

'Marcus [Rashford] did not have a happy match at all.

So we didn't have creation.'.

Although United gave an unconvincing performance, the result means they have pulled back within five points of league leaders Manchester City, who play on Sunday.

Pissed Off Mayor Just Sent Bounty Hunters To Round Up Hundreds Of Illegal Muslim Migrants - Duration: 3:49.

The days of political correctness and putting people in harm because of it ended on November

20, 2016 when President Trump was elected as our nation's leader.

He set the precedence that he doesn't care what people think about his policies and even

though judges have recently overturned his travel ban from terrorist-tied nations, his

assertive approach to the refugee problem seems to have empowered one Mayor who stepped

up his resolve to it ten-fold, making a travel ban look like child's play.

As hordes of refugees poured in through unsecured borders, the issue became more about the threat

to Western life than helping people seeking better living conditions.

The claim that they would assimilate into the culture was proven wrong when instead

of becoming Westernized, they imposed Islam on the locals in hopes of ushering in Sharia

law.

They didn't want to escape a dangerous Muslim nation, they wanted to turn Western areas

into one.

The terrifying effects of this were most prevalent in Europe after Angela Merkel, the German

Chancellor, announced to the world that refugees were welcome there, and since that dangerous

declaration they poured in overwhelming droves.

However, Laszlo Toroczkai, the bold 45-year-old Mayor of the small Hungarian town of Asotthalom,

didn't ask for it and doesn't want them as he's seen the massive destruction and

fear they've instilled in his once peaceful town, so he decided to take care of it in

a brutal way that involves more than just his badass team of bounty hunters rounding

them up my the masses.

The Daily Mail reports that locals in Asotthalom have been finding groups of immigrants scattered

across their farms, sleeping in people's gardens and outbuildings, as watched in horror

as thousands stream through the center of their village on their way to other parts

of Europe.

Hoping to send a very clear message to Muslim refugees that "Hungary is a bad choice for

migrants," the unapologetic mayor has stayed true to his word in sending "a group of

muscular men using motorbikes, helicopters, and even horses to race across the countryside

in pursuit of human quarry," MailOnline reported.

'It is very important for the village to preserve its traditions,' he says.

'We can see large Muslim communities in western Europe that haven't been able to

integrate — and we don't want to have the same experience here.'

He has announced new rules for the town he runs, and wants the rest of Hungary to follow

suit, banning the building of mosques, making the Muslim call to prayer illegal, and banning

the burqa and the 'burkini' swimsuit.

He says the measures are key to preventing Muslims 'causing fear, alarm and shock among

the locals'.

There is no doubt that millions of his fellow countrymen share his distaste for migrants.

The most obvious manifestation of this is the forbidding wire fence — dubbed the new

'Iron Curtain' by some — that now stretches 110 miles along the border with Serbia.

Once the camouflage-clad bounty hunters capture their targets, they wrestle them to the ground

and hog tie them.

Other efforts to slow the migrant flow are just as merciless, with a 110-mile razor fence,

ban on building mosques, the Muslim call to prayer has now been made illegal there, and

the burqa and the "burkini" swimsuit are no longer allowed.

Here in America, we've become too soft and apologetic for these refugees who want take

advantage of us after Barack Obama manipulated the country into believing that it's the

good and right thing to do.

After eight years of this, citizens have forgotten what real authority looks like.

Trump doesn't want to let this refugee crisis get to the point that it has in Europe where

leaders like Toroczkai are forced to take these measures to protect his people.

We must learn from Europe and not repeat it in America.

How to Set Up and Configure RetroArch PS1 Emulation to Play PlayStation Games - Duration: 6:42.

Hi this is Phil from Make Tech Easier and welcome to how to set up and

configure Retroarch PS1 emulation to play PlayStation games. Emulation is all

the rage in PC gaming. Not only does it allow you to relive the glory days of

retro titles on your PC, but it also often allows you to enhance your

experiences with those games. Going back to plain old game especially from the

PS1 era can often shock those who are surprised that how much better these

tiles look through nostalgia glasses. Using Retroarch PS1 emulation you can

upscale and tweak these games to something that looks a lot closer to

what you remember and better. Meet Retroarch. Retroarch isn't an emulator in and

of itself, think of it as a hub for emulators and media accessible under a

single unified interface. Emulating games on PC usually means a full emulator and

different program per platform, but Retroarch can actually emulate quite a

number of systems all within a single program. Retroarchs emulators, called

"cores", are generally ported emulators from other developers in the scene. Some

emulators however are actually just made for Retroarch and because of this there

may be even better than modern standalone emulators on the scene. This

is the case for the leading Retroarch PS1 core BeetlePSX which we'll be

teaching you how to install and use in this video. What you need. For optimal

Retroarch PS1 emulation you'll want the following: a modern gamepad with dual

analogues; we recommend a PS3 pad for that authentic control experience or an XBox

One pad for better support. If you're using a non-XBox pad, make sure you have

the XInput driver wrapper enabled. A modern Windows PC for best performance

and the most accurate guide, though Retroarch is cross-platform enough for

this guide to work on other platforms. A PS1 BIOS file corresponding to the games

you want to play. Playing NA (North American) Crash Bandicoot, for example, may require an an

NA PS1 BIOS. We won't provide you with the BIOS file here so rip one from your

own PS1 or download at your own risk. Expanding slightly on the note of BIOS

files once you have those you'll need to place them within the BIOS folder of

your Retroarch installation folder. If you don't know where this is located in

your file system go to Options -> Directory. A few settings to tweak. As long as you

have an XInput enabled gamepad you won't need to do much to have a good

Retroarch PS1 emulation experience. However there are a few things you're

going to want to tweak for optimal experience. First head over to Options -> Input.

Now use left and right on your D-pad to select a Menu Toggle Gamepad

Combo we recommend setting L3 + R3 as your shortcut. If you followed up to

this point your controller is ready to use, and you've acquired the PS1 BIOS

file(s) that you'll need to play your games. Some games may work without a

BIOS but for full compatibility we highly recommend one. Now, let's get to

the juicy stuff, installing the emulation core. Installing

BeatlePSX. First head to the main menu then select Online Updater. Within Online

Updater select Core Updater. Scroll down to PlayStation BeetlePSX HW

you can also choose the non HW version but we recommend using HW

instead. Select it to install it. Once installed head back to the main menu and

Load Core. Find PlayStation BeatlePSX HW and select it. This will load the core

into Retroarch. You've installed the core, now how do you get your games into

retroarch proper? Head back to main menu and select Load Content. Choose

Collections, select Scan Directory. For this to work properly you will need to

have all of your PS1 game files stored in one folder on your PC. If you don't

get them organized and take note of where they are in Windows Explorer to

find them in Retroarch. Select Scan This Directory to scan your games and get

them added into Retroarch. Now that they're here you can head back to the

main menu. If you scroll over to the right you'll realize there's a new menu

made to hold your PS1 games. We'll launch Crash Bandicoot Warped

from here. In Game Tweaking. You've done it you're in the game ready to

start playing but wait the graphics look blown up and pixelated. How can you

fix this? Hit the gamepad combo you set for opening the menu in the game earlier

(for us this is L3 and R3). In the main menu there's now a Quick Menu option.

Select it. Within Quick Menu you'll see a lot of different options. Let's cover the

relevant ones. The Save State option allow you to save a game State pretty

much exactly where you are. There are multiple slots for you to save in and

you can use these to skip normal saving or just before a difficult segment you

want to keep trying, it's up to you. Or you can forego them entirely. If your

analog sticks aren't being picked up you may be playing a PS1 game that doesn't

support them. To fix this head to controls and set User 1 Analog to Digital Type 2

-> Left Analog. In game graphics. Under Quick Menu

options there are a lot more graphical options to set. Here are the relevant

ones and what to do with them. Internal GPU resolution - native is 240p,

2 times is 480p, 4 times is 720p, 8 times is 1080p and 16 times is 4K.

These aren't exact but they're pretty much what you should expect out of

quality. We recommend using 8 times if your hardware can handle it or even 16

times if you want to forego the need for AA (antialiasing) and have the hardware power for it.

Wide screen mode hack - this will result in some visual glitches on the outer

borders of your screen but should look good in most games. This is a personal

preference. Other options are there but they either don't pertain to graphics or

are far too complex to get into here, like shaders. Ok as always thanks for

watching and please subscribe and add your comments below. See you next time!

Why Is Bitcoin Going Up? Bubble or Not? Discover What Media and Politicians Don't Want You to Hear! - Duration: 7:09.

Why Is Bitcoin Going Up?

hello everyone Nick here Eric coming at you

from downtown Minneapolis in Minnesota Walker Art Center beautiful day out

today as you can see we got some great sculptures we're trying to take a step

away from our computers get outside a little bit enjoy the day but we still

wanted to come at you with some information so you guys aren't left out

of the loop here and what we wanted to cover today was a very common topic

are cryptocurrencies currently in a bubble? what we're gonna

do here is I'm going to go a little bit with the devil advocates side Eric is

going to go explaining more how we feel at Block Capitol Insider about this

situation. so let's start it off with my question Eric. cryptocurrencies were

valued at around 20 billion dollars this spring and currently today they've had a

pretty parabolic rise up to about 200 billion (correction) what would you say to people

that say cryptocurrencies are in a bubble this is a parabolic rise it's not

sustainable it's not it's not gonna continue yes we see how the prices are

free trading is understandable they think this but we need to put clear

something really important that most of the media don't speak sure and most of

the people who criticize or qualify Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies as a bubble

they don't measure is the utility apart from the monitor monetary utility let's

say they speak about Bitcoin currencies crypto currencies all yes currencies but

they means the blockchain technology that is something that one of the

applications is as money as a currency then behind that there's a whole new

world of development for digital content yes a software any kind of app

applications it can go to edit identifications insurance so all that

utility that is behind the blockchain technology is what is gonna sustain the

value of this asset in the long run sure so these utilities bring value to

cryptocurrencies but what do you say right now I mean Bitcoin currently holds

a little over 50 percent of the market and bitcoin is a currency right

so if Bitcoin the main currency is the one creating that large rise what's to

say that that's not gonna drop off what's to say that that's not gonna go

okay first of all we need to see VidCon as an asset not a Sakura Sakura see a

currency is an asset that takes a period of time to be converted this asset into

a policy Bitcoin Athena in that period is passing from being really illiquid to

have really go to the quiddity that that's what I predict the

technology became bit code the applications of the technology are huge

the utility so and it's gonna sustain the value so what are you asking if

Bitcoin as an isolated project of cryptocurrency a blockchain technology

if it's gonna fail or not I don't think it's gonna fail but it could fail like

any company country but we are not saying that the blockchain is gonna fail

the blockchain technology and applications is something that is gonna

revolutionize many markets that will happen okay so you're saying that we

should look more a big point as less of a currency and more of maybe a storage

of value an accent as an asset okay oh yeah endless applications in the digital

market and as a currency is one of the application

okay let's say that's a monetary application or utility of this

technology sure but it's clear to know that the utility the non-monetary

utility is much more important than the monitor utility so what do you saw

people with the money for both ways what do you say to the people out there I

mean I've seen this many times Jamie Dimon is a common figure maybe some of

you have heard that these these mainstream people you know but they come

out and they say that cryptocurrencies are fraud they're scam you know they're

gonna not only had they have a great rise yeah people have made some money

but the underlying like what you were saying those utility is too fake they're

not real let's say they try to sustain their position and their perspective

where they come from they come from a monetary system that is centralized that

is not backed by any kind of music value think about all the intrinsic value with

a spoke about blockchain surely utility it has apart from being a currency you

know for developing software applications in any kind of data systems

and they come from a system of paper money which doesn't have any kind of

market value and many of them of these people that criticize we conduct they'll

get benefit of the system that's unusual and about central bankers private banks

politicians mainstream economists sure so for them is easy to speak about

Bitcoin only about the digital non-existent value currency that you can

even touch it's easy to compute people like this way but they never speak about

the fundamental behind that is the blockchain and how it works and how can

be applied to the real economy sure so that change everything so basically we

mean one of the things you're saying is we always have to be very aware of who

is saying what and what is their interest for saying that

I think that's that's a really good point here it brings up there and it's

something that I think we all need to remember to tell ourselves is you know

who is this individual where are they coming from

why are they saying that and what interests do they have by saying yes

which interests that's the most important part absolutely because if we

think and we see where was born Bitcoin and cryptocurrency it was exactly after

this monetary system failed yes right at a guard right after this big debacle and

big crisis that we had with money all of a sudden we have Satoshi Nakamoto

releases Bitcoin and we have a little bit of in our opinion of saving grace

and we'll see only the future will tell so expect our guys all righty guys

thanks for coming out and listening to us today we hope you enjoyed the video

we love you guys we wouldn't be here without you if you guys have anything

else you'd like to add go down in the comments leave a comment leave a link

whatever also if you guys would like to discover the three key aspects to

cryptocurrencies click the link below or up top I'm not sure where it is but yeah

click that anyways guys thanks for coming out we'll see you next time see

you next time

Monsanto Faces Blowback Over Cancer Cover Up - Duration: 15:25.

Monsanto Faces Blowback Over Cancer Cover-Up

by Edward Morgan

A release of internal emails has revealed that U.S. agrochemical giant Monsanto manipulated

studies of the companys herbicide, Roundup.

Experts believe the product causes cancer and the consequences for the company could

be dire.

Some companies reputations are so poor that the public already has low expectations

when it comes to their ethics and business practices.

That doesnt make it any less shocking when the accusations against them are confirmed

in black and white.

Agricultural chemicals giant Monsanto is under fire because the companys herbicide, Roundup

(active ingredient: glyphosate), is suspected of being carcinogenic.

Permission to sell the chemical in the European Union expires on December 15 with member states

set to decide on Wednesday whether to renew it for another 10 years.

And now, the longstanding dispute about glyphosate has been brought to a head by the release

of explosive documents.

Monsantos strategies for whitewashing glyphosate have been revealed in internal e-mails, presentations

and memos.

Even worse, these Monsanto Papers suggest that the company doesnt even seem to know

whether Roundup is harmless to peoples health.

You cannot say that Roundup is not a carcinogen, Monsanto toxicologist Donna Farmer wrote in

one of the emails.

We have not done the necessary testing on the formulation to make that statement.

The email, sent on Nov. 22, 2003, is one of more than 100 documents that a court in the

United States ordered Monsanto to provide as evidence after about 2,000 plaintiffs demanded

compensation from Monsanto in class-action suits.

They claim that Roundup has caused non-Hodgkins lymphoma, a form of lymph node cancer, in

them or members of their family.

The documents suggest the company concealed risks, making their publication a disaster

for the company.

The matter is also likely to be a topic of discussion at Bayer, the German chemical company

in the process of acquiring Monsanto.

The Monsanto Papers tell an alarming story of ghostwriting, scientific manipulation and

the withholding of information, says Michael Baum, a partner in the law firm of Baum, Hedlund,

Aristei & Goldman, which is bringing one of the US class actions.

According to Baum, Monsanto used the same strategies as the tobacco industry: creating

doubt, attacking people, doing ghostwriting.

Glyphosate is the worlds most used herbicide.

Companies like Monsanto, Syngenta and Bayer produce more than 800,000 metric tons of the

subtance every year and sell it around the world.

Farmers use the agent to clean the slate while preparing fields for the new sowing season,

or spray it on potato or rapeseed fields to kill the plants just before maturity, making

harvesting easier.

The popular agricultural chemical has been in use for more than 40 years and can now

be found almost everywhere: in the urine of humans and animals, in milk, in beer, in ice

cream, and above all in feed pellets from the United States and Brazil, which also end

up being fed to German cattle and pigs.

Glyphosate was long considered harmless to human health because it inhibits a metabolic

pathway that is essential for plants but does not occur in mammals.

But is the product really that harmless?

In March 2015, one of the worlds highest authorities raised doubts about the pesticide.

The International Agency for Cancer Research (IARC), a body under the umbrella of the World

Health Organization, classified glyphosate as probably carcinogenic to humans.

The decision triggered class action lawsuits in the USA.

Company Expected the Blowback

Monsanto reacted immediately.

The IARC assessment contradicts the decades of ongoing comprehensive safety reviews by

the leading regulatory authorities around the world, said Chief Technology Officer

Robb Fraley.

CEO Hugh Grant derided the study, calling it junk science.

But it turns out Monsanto expected the IARC decision.

Researchers at company headquarters in St. Louis knew from the outset that the panel

of experts would issue a cancer warning.

What we have long been concerned about has happened, Farmer, the toxicologist,

wrote in September 2014.

Glyphosate is on for an IARC review in March of 2015. A month later another Monsanto

scientist, William Heydens, expressed more specific concerns.

He wrote that Monsanto not only has a vulnerability in the area of epidemiology, but also potentially

in the areas of exposure, genetox and mechanism of action. Genetox is short for genotoxicity

and describes whether a substance causes damage to genetic material, which in turn can cause

cancer.

Epidemiological studies can be used to ascertain whether the occurrence of disease is associated

with certain substances, and help the IARC make its decision.

Studies in the United States, Canada and Sweden suggest that glyphosate increases the risk

of developing lymphatic cancer.

Graphic: Worldwide sales of glyphosate

DER SPIEGEL Graphic: Worldwide sales of glyphosate

According to one email, Monsanto conducted no such testing on the carcinogenicity

of Roundup.

Another one reads: We do not conduct any subchronic, chronic or teratogenicity studies

with our formulations. The latter would show whether Roundup can cause deformities,

as some studies suggest.

Rat embryos sprayed with diluted Roundup, for example, developed skeletal damage.

Monsanto didnt even trust its own experts.

This is how Farmer summed up an analysis by Monsanto consultant James Parry: Dr. Parry

concluded in his evaluation? that glyphosate is capable of producing genotoxicity. But

Farmer did not want this to be seen as a warning.

Instead, she wrote, further studies should be sent to him in order to move Dr. Parry

from his position.

Glyphosate appears not to be as harmless as the industry likes to claim, in part because

it also kills many microorganisms in addition to plants.

Although this is unlikely to directly affect humans and animals, it does apparently affect

the millions of bacteria in the intestinal flora known as the microbiome.

Leipzig-based veterinarian Monika Krger has observed that the prevalence of certain

microorganisms in the rumen changes when cattle feed on pellets containing glyphosate, and

that this affects the health of the animals.

However, the German Federal Institute for Risk Research (BfR), which is responsible

for the assessment of glyphosate in the EU, disagrees with her conclusions.

The Monsanto researchers also behaved irresponsibly when it comes to the question of Roundups

absorption into the body.

In their own animal experiments back in 2002, the companys experts discovered that between

5 and 10 percent of the substance penetrated the skin of rats.

The rate was much higher than expected and the result had the potential to blow

the Roundup risk evaluations, reads one e-mail.

As a consequence, the author of the email wrote: We decided thus to STOP the study.

Laboratory animals also absorbed more Roundup ingredients through the digestive tract than

had been hoped for.

Above all, the Monsanto papers show that the experts were very aware of a fact that is

often lost in the public debate: In addition to glyphosate, herbicides like Roundup contain

other dangerous chemicals that are necessary to enable the active ingredient to penetrate

hard plant walls, among other things.

These ingredients are often more harmful than the active ingredient on its own.

Different Verdicts

As a result of years of industry lobbying, many regulatory agencies assess the toxicity

of glyphosate in isolation, but not that of the mixtures that are sprayed.

The Environmental Protection Agency in the United States, the European Food Safety Authority

and the BfR all carry out so-called risk analyses.

In the studies evaluated for this purpose, researchers drip pure glyphosate into rat

feed.

Then they determine the amount of glyphosate at which no damage is inflicted on the animals.

Other studies determine the actual concentration of the substance in the environment.

The substance is deemed safe for use if the two values are far apart, as is the case with

glyphosate, which is which why it was deemed non-carcinogenic.

The hazard-related assessment that led to the IARC decision is different.

Researchers at the agency investigate whether a substance is dangerous in principle, irrespective

of the dose.

They also evaluate what happens when the complete mixtures, in this case Roundup, are sprayed.

Although it is difficult to effectively control the conditions in such epidemiological studies,

they are a more accurate reflection of reality and led to the IARC verdict: probably

carcinogenic.

The Monsanto experts came to a similar conclusion.

Glyphosate is OK, but the formulated product causes the damage, Monsanto researcher

Heydens wrote to Donna Farmer.

Monsanto did nothing to warn the public.

Instead, the company continued its massive lobbying campaign and did everything conceivable

to discredit researchers whose work was not in Monsantos interest.

The article you are reading originally appeared in German in issue 43/2017 (October 21st,

2017) of DER SPIEGEL.

FAQ: Everything You Need to Know about DER SPIEGEL

Six Decades of Quality Journalism: The History of DER SPIEGEL

Reprints: How To License SPIEGEL Articles One of the victims of their campaign was French

toxicologist Gilles-ric Sralini.

He did exactly what Monsanto should have done.

For two years, Sralini dripped Roundup into the drinking water of laboratory rats

and fed them glyphosate-laden, genetically modified corn.

What he found was alarming: Some of the animals developed kidney damage, while the females

developed breast cancer at remarkably high rates.

When the journal Food and Chemical Toxicology published the study in September 2012, all

hell broke loose in Sralinis life.

Hundreds of researchers protested and Sralini was accused of making false statements

and using animals for propaganda purposes. The journal withdrew the publication in November

2013.

It may have been a coincidence, but the magazine had appointed a former Monsanto employee to

its advisory board six months earlier.

The internal memos also confirm how Monsanto exerted pressure.

David Saltmiras, a Monsanto expert at the time, boasted that he had successfully

facilitated numerous third party letters to the editor. He described his actions as

being in our own best interest and as the last rites for Sralinis few remaining

shreds of credibility.

The methods of Sralinis work were indeed open to criticism, which made it easy for

the Monsanto expert.

But the same pattern occurred after the IARCs hazard assessment.

In that case, Monsanto even prepared a detailed preparedness and engagement plan to

challenge the conclusions reached by the IARC cancer experts.

The company hired a team of researchers and lobbying experts hoping to orchestrate

outcry, and discredit the IARC as an organization with a history of questionable and politically

charged rulings.

A storm of indignation did in fact break out after the IARC vote and the organizations

funding was called into question.

As recently as June, it was falsely reported that a member of the IARC had withheld information.

The Monsanto battle plan also called for three new papers on glyphosate. A critical review

of the IARC assessment appeared in 2016.

The internal documents show that Monsanto greatly influenced its content.

Two of the authors apparently received money directly from Monsanto.

Former employee John Acquavella was paid $20,700 (17,560) for consulting hours ? related

to the glyphosate expert epidemiology panel.

Monsanto denies the accusation that it sought to exert influence on the research.

But the company had no comment on the other allegations.

Several questions remain unanswered.

Why doesnt Monsanto publish the results of its own research?

And why doesnt the company simply pay for the Sralini study to be independently carried

out a second time, which could dispel all doubts?

A Future in Doubt for Roundup

Monsanto would do everything possible to protect its product, Roundup, says Daniel

Boese of the Avaaz civic organization.

The company deceived consumers and influenced expert opinions for years, he explains.

According to Boese, Monsanto destroys scientific safety mechanisms that the public actually

relies on, and its lobbying influence is enormous.

For instance, portions of the BfRs glyphosate report are taken from documents from the Glyphosate

Task Force, a Monsanto-led industry association.

The BfR rejects the accusation of plagiarism.

Europes politicians ought to take a closer look at the Monsanto papers before authorizing

glyphosate for another 10 years.

Italy, Austria and France already plan to vote against the extension.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel hasnt yet made up her mind.

We will do our utmost to ensure that you can continue to use this substance where necessary,

she told farmers at the German Farmers Day event in June.

But Merkel could find it difficult to keep this promise in a possible coalition government

with the pro-environment Greens.

In any case, Europes farmers would be well advised to consider the fate of Jack McCall,

whose widow Teri is one of the plaintiffs in the United States.

The California farmer had sprayed Roundup in his orchards for decades, where he was

often accompanied by a loyal companion: his dog Duke.

Duke died of lymphoma.

McCall died of non-Hodgkin lymphoma a few years later.

Alien Resurrection: 20 Years Later... How Does it Hold Up? - Opinion - Duration: 11:36.

On this day, November 26, in 1997, Alien Resurrection was released in theaters, marking the last

time Sigourney Weaver took on the role of Ellen Ripley for a film in the series.

It's mindblowing to think it's been two decades since Weaver played the role, but here we

are.

Alien films are still been made, as recently as Alien Covenant which came out this year,

but the character of Ripley seems to be in the rearview now.

Resurrection was the 4th film in the Alien series, and since then four more movies, all

working as prequels, have been released to date.

As it currently stands, Alien Resurrection is the furthest the story has progressed,

timeline-wise, in an Alien film.

Now that 20 years have passed, and more movies have come, how does it hold up?

As an entry in the saga, and as a movie in general?

At the time it came out, there hadn't been too significant of a gap between this new

Alien film and Alien 3, which was made five years prior.

It wasn't an especially lengthy wait between an original trilogy and a new film, such as

series like Indiana Jones, or even Die Hard, not to mention the Star Wars Episode I, which

was one of the most anticipated movies of all time, being released about 15 years after

the last film the series.

So, there wasn't really a lot of time to miss Ripley, was there?

It was less of a grand return and more just, business as usual I guess.

And at that time, big, dumb special-effects-filled blockbuster movies were more common place

than ever before, and there wasn't much that made it stand out -- at least, certainly not

in the way that Alien stood out in the 70s, and Aliens stood out in the 80s.

It opened to mixed reviews from critics, and the fan reaction was more or less the same,

with many agreeing at the time that is was at least a little bit of a step up from Alien

3.

I myself never got the chance to see it in theatres, but I did end up catching it on

cable - where it played over and over - and I watched it over and over.

From a completely biased, personal perspective, I do owe a lot to Alien Resurrection because

it was the movie that really got me into the series.

I had seen Alien 3 before it, but I was maybe only 6 at the time, and I got some of the

Kenner toys which were still in circulation, and some of the comic books, but then just

kind of forgot about it.

Alien Resurrection actually kind of sparked my inner alien fan once again, and even though

when I first watched it, I didn't even really like it that much, I ended up watching it

more times, and warming to it, and I couldn't help but be fascinated by it.

So finally I was inspired to track down the previous 3 films on VHS so I could revisit

Alien 3, and experience Alien and Aliens for the very first time.

After that, there was no going back.

I've been Alien-obsessed every since.

So I have to admit, I owe Alien Resurrection thanks for that.

It's a very strange film to me though, because every time I watch it, I literally have no

idea how I'm going to react to it.

Sometimes I really enjoy it, and appreciate it for what it is, but other times, I think

it's just the stupidest, most pointless movie ever.

I watched it last night to commemorate the 20th anniversary, and thankfully, it was one

of the times I enjoyed the movie, but that doesn't make all of its faults disappear-

maybe they're just...less offensive if you're in the right mood.

And maybe it can also depend on if you're marathoning the movies in order or just giving

it an isolated viewing on its own.

Both Alien 3 and Resurrection had a lot to live up to considering how impactful the first

two films were, serving as the absolute best of the best of their genres and pushing boundaries

in special effects and story-telling techniques.

One of the things I love about the original four movies is how each movie, though telling

a continuing story, has its own director with their own vision and their own way to tell

what is basically the same old story of a monster or monsters picking off people one

by one.

Ridley Scott, James Cameron, and David Fincher of the first three are all legendary directors,

and their work in the series is absolutely wonderful.

Jean-Pierre Jeanut was a pretty daring choice to assign for the fourth film, and I have

to give the studio credit for that, and I do think he puts his own unique stamp on the

series.

I really liked the murk, nightmarish-looking style of the film.

I know not everyone did, but I think it was appropriate enough for an Alien film and I'm

glad to see with four movies in, each still has its own visual distinctions.

The set design is very impressive and for the most part the special effects are really

good.

When it comes to actual practical effects, I think they're top-of-the-line.

While I prefer to keep the aliens in the dark and let the fear seep into your imagination,

if they're going to really show off the aliens such as they do here, and have them front

and center, then they at least do a convincing job of it.

The animitronics and puppetry effects hold up great, but, it probably goes with out saying...the

CGI does not.

It definitely does not.

CGI was still in its early days in the 90s, but after Jurassic Park, I think filmmakers

were inspired to take their shot at creating fully rendered creatures entirely out of CGI,

and looking back on some of those movies, whether it be something like Men In Black,

which kind of gets a pass because it's a comedy, or Species, another H.R. Giger monster, or,

God forbid, that Lost In Space Reboot...they can be hard to watch.

I will give Alien Resurrection credit for its restraint, though.

While there are CGI-rendered aliens, they are used sparingly, and, they're not the worst

example of CGI monsters I've ever seen so I think that's worth something.

It's a product of its time.

It was happy to meet the status quo rather than exceed it or to push new boundaries.

I can't really damn the film for that but it's disappointing considering the high bar

the Alien series set for itself, but it terms of production quality, money on the screen,

I think it holds up just about as well as any 1997 sci-fi horror action movie could.

As far as the story goes, there's a lot left to be desired, for sure.

But with Ripley dying in the last film, concluding as a trilogy, they backed themselves into

a corner as far as it went with the character.

They really only had 2 choices if they wanted both the alien and Ripley back, either have

Ripley wake up from her cryotube to discover everything in Alien 3 was just a nightmare,

which would have been beyond cheesy and lazy writing - or, go with what they chose to do

here: literally bring Ripley back from the dead, resurrect her, and the alien, through

cloning- which is, I guess right at the bitter edge of cheesy and lazy writing still.

For what it's worth though, even if the story isn't exactly innovative, I really loved the

thematic elements that came from it.

With Ripley now as a clone, I thought it was very intriguing to have her connection to

the alien more personal than ever, and actually have the alien be part of her.

It allowed Weaver to do new things with the role and keeping the script and the direction

aside, Weaver's work as an actress is excellent.

Here she shows why she's worth the big paycheck and why, at least at the time, Ripley and

the Alien had to be a package deal.

I loved seeing the struggles of the character, unsure of where he loyalty is supposed to

lie, and finally meeting a kindred spirit in the universe, the Auton, Call, played by

Winona Ryder, a character that's also not quite human and is unable to identify.

There's even good sexual tension between the two, but appropriately not too explicit, because

the series has always dealt with psychosexual undercurrents and sexual identity was a good

theme to play off in this entry.

Weaver and Ryder have really good chemistry and play off each other well, and in general,

I think the cast they've assembled for the movie is excellent.

There are some incredibly talented actors in the movie...seeing Brad Dourif coccooned

in the hive, raving like a mad man is simply a thing of beauty, and I value that greatly.

There are so many little things about Alien Resurrection that I really love, and I just

wish they'd all amount to a great movie, but, they don't.

When all is said and done, the movie doesn't really accomplish all that much.

They bring Ripley back.

She fights against the aliens with a group of survivors who get picked off one by one.

They defeat the aliens in the end.

The man behind the curtain is starting to show, we're starting to recognize the same

old plot that the other filmmakers in the series were so skilled in distracting us from.

I think unsatisfying is probably the best word to use when it comes to Alien Resurrection.

Looking at it from the larger perspective of the series as a whole, it's definitely

further down on the list when it comes to my favourites.

Alien and Aliens are masterpieces that pretty much can't be beat.

I consider myself a fan of Alien 3, and I think despite the well-documented productio

problems, a worth-while film emerged, and I have a lot of affection for it.

I also consider myself a fan of Prometheus and Alien Covenant, though I'm well aware

they're divisive films, to put it mildly.

At the very least I'd say Resurrection is still a lot better than either of the Alien

Versus Predator films, which were basically B-movies, though even those have their value

in some ways.

So, 20 years later...I think Alien Resurrection holds up OKAY.

I don't really love or hate the movie, I enjoy it on more than enough levels to keep me going

back to it and enjoying it for the most part.

And I think I even value it more with each passing year, because we keep getting further

away from Ripley's story.

I know I'm not alone in saying I really miss Ripley.

I want to see her back, at least one more time.

I really hope that happens some day, but for now, Alien Resurrection serves as her last

adventure, and I appreciate it on that level.

So what do you think?

Does Alien Resurrection hold up 20 years later?

Are you a fan of the film?

Do you appreciate it a little bit more after Prometheus and Covenant if you're not a fan

of those?

Are you like me, and can never tell if you're going to enjoy it or roll your eyes at it?

Comment below and share your thoughts, and let's wish Alien Resurrection a happy 20th.

Wait! Just a moment!

Let me go!

I'll live alone from now on!

You escape again?

What?

You escape from me, you escape from sweets.

What remains in you?!

Don't say it like you know everything!

I have an unerasable sin!

I'm different from you.

If I stay here, you'll...

Both the sin and me don't matter now!

How about yourself?

What do you want to do?

You want to make sweets, or not?

This is your answer, isn't it?

It was delicious.

This is your true answer, right?

I mean you actually love sweets.

You want to get everyone to eat your sweets, huh?

That's right.

I want to make sweets!

Ever since I was a child, I've dreamed...

Of becoming a great patissier with you!

That's why I felt I was left behind.

I envied you, and fell in darkness.

Finally,

Finally I became able to make sweets again.

There's no way I can forget it easily!

Pikario, thank you.

For telling me.

Pikario, why don't we keep a shop together?

Let's practice as a patissier together here!

Yes, that's a good idea!

What are you saying?!

I told you.

That it's true that I was a servant of Noir.

If it's found out...

No problem!

Pikario, you're not alone.

I'll bear your sin together!

You'll overcome it with me!

Like our two kinds of power bore Cure Parfait!

You're right!

Make up-peko!

Revealed: What Sadio Mane REALLY said to Jurgen Klopp in bust up after Chelsea draw - Duration: 2:20.

Revealed: What Sadio Mane REALLY said to Jurgen Klopp in bust up after Chelsea draw

Mane was a shock exclusion from the Liverpool starting line-up for their crucial game against Chelsea yesterday. Klopp's tactics looked as though they would pay off when Mohamed Salah gave his side a 1-0 lead midway through the second half.

The German coach swiftly brought Daniel Sturridge off for Georginio Wijnaldum to shore up their midfield and make sure of the three points.

But Willian's fortunate cross-come-shot caught everyone by surprise with just five minutes left of play, including crucially Simon Mignolet, to earn Chelsea a point.

Mane and Adam Lallana were brought on in the final minutes of the match in an attempt to grab a winner but there was little time for the duo to affect the result.

And once the final whistle blew TV cameras caught Klopp and Mane in a heated exchange on the pitch with the Senegal international clearly frustrated at something.

Pundits after the game suggested his frustration was due to being named on the bench but the Liverpool boss claimed it was due to a quarrel the pair had during the match.

I was shouting at him because he was in the centre," Klopp said.  "But no players happy about that when you come on to the pitch with three minutes left and you feel like youve got 150 minutes in your legs already.

"He was not happy and said to me Mo (Salah) wanted to come in the position but Mo already had 90 minutes in his legs.

So it would have made more sense that Sadio was close to the right wing and starts from that position.

Its not a big thing, we could have done it in the dressing room, it would have been the same thing. Everything is sorted immediately..
