Buying a 2nd car... | Car Chat EP004 - Duration: 6:26.
What's going on! I hope you're having a sick day, I'm actually going to Logic
late tonight so any Logic fans that do watch this (probably like one and
that'd be me) but if you are one of them, stay to the end and I might chuck a few
little clips in..... It's gonna be sick!
But on to what this video is about... It feels like a long while since I've done a
kind of talk down video like this, so as you can probably see from the title I
really want another car! And I'm really stuck on kind of what to do
financially, logically and just think properly about what I want to do. (There's
like loads of birds just running from me...) Clearly didn't shower this morning... So yeah
I'm just really not sure and just thought I'd make a video and hopefully
that few people in the comments put something, that will kind of trigger a
conversation. Okay there are somehow a freaking Pumpkin, right down the end of my
garden, chilling! So scary... So yeah it's not like the MX5 was boring at all, I love
that car and I can't I really personally can't see myself selling it but anytime soon at
all. I'm glad I bought that car but it's just that I need a second car to kind
of put my stamp on if that makes sense. Cue the people going "Yeah get a Corsa, £150 a month"...
"Then you've got a new car" That aint me, it's just not. I want to get like something like
retro hatchback kind of thing, Peugeot 205, Mk2 Fiesta, Renault 5 but you know I even
got this close, to buying a Peugeot 309 the other day, but someone else bought
before me. What can you do... I want something different, the second car means that like
the mx-5 hasn't got to be reliable and you know you can do craziest stuff to it
I suppose but then you have got that aspect of money and out to insurances
two MOT's, two lots of road tax, two lots of fuel...
I don't know it's just a bit of a tough decision to make it's like, be like
more cautious with your money and kind of I spend it elsewhere I mean I've
looked to get in PC so I can stop using moviemaker looks like it's 2006! Or go and
get a second car and do more to the mx-5 it's a bit wacky get to put my stamp on
another car twice the cars on the channel twice the content maybe... That
could work. It's just really tough, to try and make a decision at the moment I think
with car insurance in April, and being 21 by then maybe that's the time to
review this and not now in the winter. I don't know, I just really don't know what
to do. Initially I was just like yeah second car let's go, get a fun thing other car!
A PC would be a great idea though, I can start putting things together a
bit better. Next year here, I'm gonna sound like every other person here but, next
year it's gonna be a mad one, we've already got this plan for next year that
I'm purposely not doing this year so I can say I did them next year and that
was the year. So crazy stuff coming up but obviously I still want to get
involved with the cars, and you know getting two would just be sick! Well I just
don't know I'm just really in the sticky situation I just do not know
what to do. Totally off topic right, two things number one whats your thoughts
on ripped jeans, I want to know. And number two, is there anyone that films videos using one
of these... A Gorillapod, I want those like the smaller
ones that some people have got but I don't actually know if they're better or
not, or what they suit a bit better. I don't even need a Gorillapod the way I'm
holding this and I could pretty much go without one, but you know a lot of people
swear by them and the proper ones which I've got which is the SLR zoom
plus or something, is like £50 and like that so
So yea, thoughts on ripped jeans and gorillarino's. I think this might
come out a little bit short, I do try and stick to five to ten minutes but I
I just got feeling this one's a bit, I'm brighter here, I just got a feeling
this one might be a little bit short I do want to get back into these kind of
like car chat episodes where it's just chatting for a few minutes and then just
getting like your input on what's been said below. They don't take as much
effort as doing a weekly video on an mx-5 or something like that so I've really
should be getting back into that habit because I know and you know one video a week
is shocking so yeah I need to get back on that and that's more content and
especially the winter months its quite hard to kind of do car stuff, so it'll make
more sense to kind of push that a little bit more. Anyway give your opinions on
what has been said in this video in the comments, thank you very much for
watching until the next one I'll see you later
and here some logic boiiiiiiiiiiii

Waymo removes Human Backup from their self-driving cars on Public Roads - Duration: 1:26.
Waymo, which started as the Google self-driving car project in 2009, is ready for the next
phase.
Starting now, Waymo's fully self-driving vehicles are test-driving on public roads,
without anyone in the driver's seat.
And soon, members of the public will get to use these vehicles in their daily lives.
To date, Waymo vehicles have been operating on public roads with a test driver at the
wheel.
Now, in an area of the Phoenix metro region, a subset of Waymo fleet will operate in fully
autonomous mode, with Waymo as the sole driver.
The test without a human in the driver's seat is a first in the United States as large tech
companies, big automakers and well-funded startups race to develop fully autonomous
cars.
Waymo is the autonomous vehicle division of Google's parent company Alphabet.
With over eight years of testing under its belt, Waymo is a pioneer of self-driving technology
and has tested its system in six states.
The next step for Waymo is a big one: a commercial ride-hail service, in which riders can hail
one of the company's autonomous minivans via an app like Uber or Lyft.

Mom Panics When Car Breaks Down In Heavy Rain.
Then 'Angel' Appears Out Of Nowhere
We've probably all had those instances when we just really needed God to come through
on our behalf.
It could have been during a test at some point in your life or when you needed help making
an important decision.
Regardless of the situation that sparked that need for you, you had a prayer and you wanted
it answered.
On September 27, Maria Arriaga found herself in a jam only God's grace could get her
out of, and boy did He do just that!
She was driving through a "record-breaking" rainstorm in Albuquerque, New Mexico, when
suddenly, in the middle of the storm, her car stalled and died just 10 minutes away
from her house.
All by herself with no one to call, to say she was worried would be an understatement.
But as she was losing hope, an "angel" showed up to rescue her.
Joseph Tapia, a student at Atrisco Heritage Academy High School, noticed Maria in her
broken down car and went great lengths to keep her protected from the storm…literally.
He braved the weather, pushing her car in the pouring rain until he got her to safety.
"Not even a cop stopped when they saw him push my car all by himself," Arriaga said
in a Facebook post about his service.
Once he got her car out of the way of traffic, he suggested she stay in the car so she wouldn't
get wet.
He even offered to let her drive his car to pick up her daughter from practice.
When the rain got even harder, Maria advised Tapia to go home, reassuring him that help
was finally on the way.
Still, he insisted staying by her side, waiting almost an hour for assistance to arrive.
The story of this young man's selflessness got the attention of KOAT-TV, their local
news station.
When interviewed, Joseph had this to say about his incredible act:
"Just don't be selfish…be selfless.
And just help others if it's needed."
What a great way to live, Joseph!
Thank you for your kindness and service.

Renault's self-driving car avoids obstacles as well as pro drivers - Duration: 3:10.
(uptempo house music)
- So tell me, what are we about to see here today?
- Today we're announcing an autonomous control system
that's able to successfully complete
obstacle avoidance maneuvers in emergency situations,
up to the same speeds as a professional test driver.
- Nice. And can you tell me a little bit
about the technology itself?
- Sure. The technology really is inspired
by professional test drivers, and I can explain a bit why.
It's because despite popular belief,
our feeling is that humans are actually
pretty amazing drivers, you know.
In most developed countries, they can do less
than one fatality per 100 million miles.
That's really hard to beat, however, meeting and beating
that benchmark is essential to ensure safety,
and realize the dreams of our autonomous cars.
So that's why it's essential we learn
from the best of the best.
And so what we're going to show you today is
at first I'm gonna show you a demonstration that can show
the same level of performance
as a professional test driver's
in emergency obstacle avoidance.
- Can you give me an example of some
of these emergency obstacles?
- Yeah, so what we're gonna have here today
is we actually have six inflatable obstacles out here.
And we're going to deploy them in pairs
to surprise either the driver or Callie here.
- Okay.
- And by doing so we can simulate this sort of scenario
which requires a very, very quick
evasive maneuver to complete.
- How fast can this car go and still avoid these obstacles?
- It depends tremendously on the conditions
and the situation, so the scenario we have set up today,
we're going to be testing up
to speeds of around 27 miles an hour.
Which may not sound like much, but we're
on this loose gravel surface here.
These conditions change from day to day.
It's roughly speaking, half in between
that of ice and dry road in terms of what it can do.
- Okay, great. Well, let's get on the road then shall we?
- Sounds like a plan.
(uptempo house music)
- [Megan] Did we hit the cone?
- [Shad] (laughs) Nope.
(laughing)

Top 10 Electric Car Crash Tests: Can These EVs Be Safer than Tesla? - Duration: 10:29.
Welcome to Automotive Territory!
When reviewing electric cars we are mostly concerned about the range, recharging time
and acceleration, while safety parameters are usually glossed over, even though they
should be one of the major criteria when making an auto purchase.
So today we wanted to fix this mistake by comparing safety ratings of popular all-electric
and PHEV automobiles and show some crash tests footage.
Because, who doesn't love watching expensive cars like Tesla Model S being destroyed to
bits and pieces?
But, do you trust experts and their ratings that Toyota Prius Prime is actually safer
than Model S?
Let us know in the comments section.
And before we start wrecking high-tech machinery, make sure to subscribe to our channel and
ring that notification bell!
Enjoy the ride!
Chevrolet Bolt
As of today, Chevy Bolt EV, which in Europe is sold under the Opel brand as Ampera-e,
is one of the best compact electric cars that can travel over 238 miles on one charge.
A nickel-rich lithium-ion 60 kWh battery is the main reason why this vehicle has a bigger
driving range, compared to other EVs in this market segment.
By using a DC Fast Charging option this very battery can get up to 90 miles of range after
just 30 minutes of charging.
A lightweight construction and a 200 horsepower motor helps Bolt EV to show zippy performance.
To keep you safe in case of an accident Bolt will deploy 10 airbags and protect you with
its advanced high-strength steel frame.
However, it will also try to prevent any unfortunate events with its OnStar® Automatic Crash Response
and OnStar Advisors.
Tesla Model S
If you are thinking about electric automobiles, undeniable the latest Tesla Model S comes
to mind as the flagship of the industry.
Being a four door 5+2 seater family sedan, it remains one of the fastest automobiles
on the planet in terms of 0-60 acceleration with less than 3 seconds on the stopwatch,
all thanks to a dual motor system with 532 hp combined output.
Tesla's range varies between 275 and 350 miles depending on the installed battery 75kWh
up to 100 kWh.
Even though this auto has good and acceptable safety ratings for the situations when the
accident has actually taken place, it is mostly oriented at preventing one.
Those features include active safety technologies, including collision avoidance and automatic
emergency braking, electronic stability and traction control and four-wheel antilock disc
brakes.
Moreover, Tesla's Autopilot is currently showing better fatality rating than cars driven
by humans.
Hyundai Ioniq
The South Korean automobile manufacturer offers the Ioniq in both plug-in hybrid and all-electric
modifications.
The all-electric modification comes with a 120 horsepower electric motor that draws its
power from a 28 kWh battery.
With such battery setup the car will be able to go up to 105 miles on a charge, while driving
at speeds up to 110 miles per hour.
Safety features of this automobile include: autonomous emergency braking, blind spot detection,
lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control.
It is worth noting that Ioniq was awarded the Top Safety Pick Plus safety rating.
Chevrolet Volt
This car comes in the body of a 5 seat liftback that uses a gasoline-hybrid powertrain, that
has impressive all-electric range of 53 miles, great efficiency and impressive acceleration.
The installed combustion engine is a 101 hp 1.5L 4 cylinder that charges a, 18.4 kW hour
battery.
Working in sync these machines ensure fuel consumption of around 83 miles per gallon.
The starting MSRp of this car is $34,095.
The more expensive Volt Premier trim has the most advanced semi-autonomous driving options
and safety features.
The name for Chevrolet's packages are the Driver Confidence 1 and 2, they include side
blind-zone alert with lane change alert and rear cross-traffic alert, active lane assist,
forward collision alert and IntelliBeam headlamps.
The 2017 Volt received the Top Safety Pick +award from the IIHS.
Volvo XC90
For the last years Volvo XC90 T8 has worthily defended its well-deserved title of the most
fuel-efficient 7-seater SUV.
The latest generation of Volvo XC90 still managed to retain its ride height, space and
practicality, while doing 27 miles to the gallon.
It can also provide up to 14 miles of pure electric range, when needed.
This premium seven-seater SUV comes a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder supercharged engine and an electric
motor with combined output of 400 hp and 470 pound-feet of torque.
We have grown to expect advanced safety from Volvo cars and XC90 is not an exception.
It received the Top Safety Pick rating, due to the use of bind spot assist, pilot assist
semi-autonomous features and sturdy frame.
BMW i3
The 2018 model year of this BMW odd ball has gone through a mild facelift.
The most visible changes of the standard trim are an updated bumper, wheels, color pallet
and lighting from now on is all LED.
The i3 gets equipped with a 33.2 kWh allowing 125 miles of real life range.
The powertrain delivers 170 horses and 184 lb-ft of torque, plus a sport modification
is available.
This tiny EV accelerates to 60 miles per hour in 6.9 and has the top speed of 100 mph.
The i3 has missed the mark to receive the high rating in safety lower than required
crash prevention capabilities and average crashworthiness in some points, however overall
it gets good and acceptable grades.
Toyota Prius Prime
Prius Prime is a significantly upgraded version of the internationally famous hybrid hatchback
by Toyota.
According to the manufacturer, the 2017 model is equipped with a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder gasoline
engine, which positively contributed to the improvement of the gas mileage rating.
As a result, Prius Prime can do up to 133 miles to the gallon.
Thanks to the installed 8.8 kWh battery pack, there is an ability to drive in all-electric
mode and travel up to 25 miles without using any gasoline.
The high end trims get equipped with Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
capabilities, that boost the safety rating to the highest possible Top Safety Pick plus.
Nissan Leaf
Over the years Nissan Leaf has become popular among drivers for its affordability.
The latest generation of the Leaf 1 currently costs $29,010, however it is reasonable to
buy used models with a replaced battery for savings.
It has an upgraded 30 Kwh (Kilowatt hour) battery, an efficient 80 kW (Kilowatt) AC
synchronous electric motor that can get up to 107 miles of pure electric driving range.
It is worth noting that according to the IIHS testings, Leaf 1 is not the safest EV on the
market, it showed average crashwothiness and doesn't have any crash prevention software
and hardware.
But hopefully the upcoming 2018 Leaf 2.0 that has much better technoca specifications, will
top the origina model in safety, too.
Chrysler Pacifica
Described as America's first-ever hybrid minivan, Chrysler Pacifica uses both a 248
horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 230 pound feet of torque and an electric motor.
The electric motor uses a 16 kW lithium-ion battery that can provide up to 30 miles of
pure electric driving.
When a conventional power outlet is used, the batteries can be fully charged in two
hours.
The total consumption of the newest Chrysler Pacifica is rated at 67 miles per gallon and
the vehicle can cover 530 miles with a fully charged battery and a full tank of gas.
This is the only minivan that was rated as a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS in 2017.
The Advanced SafetyTec package includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward collision
warning, lane-departure warning, ParkSense front/rear park assist, as well as parallel
and perpendicular park assist.
Ford Fusion
The 2017 Fusion is available with a hybrid powertrain and the pricing for this setup
starts at $31,995.
The auto carries an 88 kW Permanent Magnet AC Synchronous Motor and 2.0 liter Atkinson
Cycle I-4, that produces 141 horsepower and 129 pound feet of torque.
With the small battery of 7.6 kWh, Fusion Hybrid has 21 miles of all-electric range,
but overall fuel consumption is as low as 91 mpg.
The safety technology that is presented by Ford in the Fusion model comes only as a standard
for high end trims and as an optional addon for mid value.
They include adaptive cruise control with stop and go, pre-collision assist with pedestrian
detection, active lane-keep assist, blind-spot mirrors, cross-traffic alert.
We wish you to stay safe on the roads and witness crashes only on testing footage.
We have to express our gratitude to scientists from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety
and Euro NCAP, who actually conduct these rigorous tests on a daily basis, trying to
ensure that the next car that gets on the road will be safe enough to protect you and
your family.
