It's making a sound.
Is this supposed to happen?
Is this right?
Why is it so intense?
Guys.. I think it's going to pop!
Hi everyone it's Lucy with Campingcarjoa.
In a previous video
I asked you what you ate when camping.
A lot of people commented about MREs.
So today I have a special video for you.
I've prepared some MREs.
Korean MRE.
And I also have a U.S. MRE.
So we're going to try these two and compare the taste.
The Korean MRE is a vegetable bibimbab (mixed rice dish).
And the American MRE
Menu 23
Chicken pesto pasta.
Mark's friend got us the American MRE.
And on the box of the Korean MRE
Authentic commercial MRE from the original manufacturer.
Getting the real MRE is very difficult in Korea.
But this is as close as it gets and from the same company.
Anyway, this will be my first experience with MREs.
Let's put the American MRE away for now.
Let's try the Korean MRE first.
It says on the box tear open the box upright.
Let's open it up.
Next pull on the tab at the top of the flameless heater.
Is this it?
I think this is it.
Here
It says to pull on this tab.
Let's pull it.
Is this right?
There's a sound.
Is it supposed to do that?
Is it right?
Why is it so intense?
Guys... I think it's going to pop!
I pulled on the tab as much as it would allow.
It says once you pull the tab
it need to heat up for 15 to 20 minutes
depending on the exterior temperature.
Okay so we need to wait for about 15 to 20 minutes.
Did I do it the right way?
Anyways, let's wait 15 to 20 minutes.
I was pretty shocked.
The box is really hot right now.
The chemical reaction was much stronger than I anticipated
so it gave me a scare.
I wanted to present it confidently.. but failed already.
Timer
The Korean MRE will be 15 more minutes
So let's open this MRE.
Is this how you open it?
Peel...
It says peel it from the top.
And it's open.
There's a lot of stuff in here.
There's so much stuff.
Let's open it up and show you.
Okay, I've got everything laid out.
All this was in one MRE bag.
This is just one meal.
This is the hot beverage bag.
You can make the hot drinks in this.
And this is...
Like the Korean MRE, it is the flameless heater.
And next to that...
This is a chocolate drink. Chocolate protein drink.
Cheese spread with... jalapeno!
It's a kind of cheese spread.
And the next item
This is the Chicken pesto.
This is a cherry blueberry crumble.
Mark said it's a kind of cake.
Next... oh! Sound yummy!
This is a chocolate chip cookie!
Italian bread sticks.
And I haven't opened this pack yet.
Let's open it.
Wet wipe.
Salt.
Sugar.
I think this is instant coffee.
What is this?
Oh it's creamer.
We call it prima.
I think this is another wet wipe.
What! There are matches too.
And some gum.
Two pieces.
There are some instructions here.
So let's start preparing it.
First tear open from the top.
Once you've opened the bag
Chicken... pesto...
Put it in the bag.
Next pour in water to this line here.
Fold it.
And place it in this sleeve.
Shake the water a bit.
Take a look.. this one is steaming too.
While this is cooking
Let's see what's inside the other packs.
Chocolate chip cookies... bread...
The timer is up for the Korean MRE.
The alarm just went off.
So let's clear the table again.
And try the Korean MRE.
How does it look?
Let's pull everything out.
No instructions...
Oh.. here!
It's here.
Hehe.. that was harder than it should be.
Vegetable bibimbap (mixed rice), meatballs...
And the crackers that soldiers like.
And sauce for the bibimbap.
And a paper plate.
But I have a plate so I'll just use this.
Oh, it smells good.
Nice smell.
A spoon.
Smells good.
Mix it up a bit.
We have the meatballs too.
I'll just put them on the side.
That's it?
There's not much.
I thought there would be more.
Let's try it.
I'm hungry.
It's yum.
The sauce is really good.
But..
It's supposed to be a vegetable bibimbap.
But there aren't that many vegetables.
Some corn.
A bit of carrot.
Now let's try the meatball.
The meatball is not bad but...
How can I describe it.
It's got a peculiar taste.
I'm still wondering if it's good.
Let's try these crackers.
I haven't had these for awhile now.
Yummy.
Let's have Mark try it.
Mark.. try some.
I gave the Korean MRE to Mark.
He's eating it now.
Let's move onto the American MRE.
Let's open up each of these U.S. MRE packs.
Set the plate.
Let's take this out first.
It's hot.
This is the chicken pesto pasta.
It was in the heater pack earlier.
You can see the steam come off.
Set this aside.
It comes with a spoon.
Cherry blueberry crumble.
Baskin Robbins cherry jubilee!
That's the smell.
I was boiling water.
Turn it off.
This is the cherry blueberry crumble in the bowl.
Can you guys see the size of this!
This is the Italian bread sticks.
It's easier using your teeth.
This is it.
Bread.
The bread is in the shape of sticks.
Let's set it here.
We have this, this and this so far.
The rest are drinks.
This is the chocolate protein drink powder.
That's this here.
And some coffeee.
Creamer.
Sugar.
Let's put it all in.
It looks like the instant coffee here in Korea.
Max*** (common brand name)
That's what it looks like.
Add water..
I think this is enough.
Because the cup is big.
And now to prepare the next drink.
The chocolate protein drink powder.
It's like a Ziplock bag.
I think that's enough.
And now that it's full of water.
Seal it tightly.
And give it to Mark.
Shake it baby!
While Mark is shaking it
I'm going to eat before it gets cold.
And lastly, we have the cheese..
spread with jalapeno.
I think this goes on the bread.
Let's try the chicken pesto pasta first.
It's yummy!
Looking closer
there's chicken
a spiral shaped pasta.
Take a look at the size of the chicken.
Also
There are dried tomatoes
in the pasta.
Let's try some more.
The pasta is a little salty for me.
But it tastes good.
Let's try with the bread.
Put a little on top.
Now let's try the cheese spread.
The taste is.. okay.
But it's a little salty.
Now for dessert.
Cookie and this one.
It yummy.
This is really delicious.
This is better than the cookies from the store.
Take a look at all those chocolate chips.
Next.. there is so much to try.
The American MRE menu size
is like a full course meal.
Let' try this.
Exactly as I thought.
Tastes like Baskin Robbins cherry jubilee.
this is kind of chewy.
Very sweet.
And... has a tangy favor.
It's good but this one is the best.
I forgot something.
The protein shake.. give it please.
Oh it's good.
If you like chocolate or sweet things
you'll really like this.
And now
We have just the coffee to try.
Max***
These two MRE meals
have very different flavors and amounts.
But the Korean one reflect the eating culture of our country.
And you can see the American eating culture with the U.S. MRE.
After trying both
The American food was a little salty for me
So if Mark didn't finish all the Korean MRE
I'm going to have more vegetable bibimbap.
Mark hasn't tried this one yet.
Let's have him try it.
We'll see you in the next video
