"How Do You Do Laundry In the Van?" | EP35 Camper Van Life - Duration: 12:01.
This week we take the campervan to the laundromat and Kait shares her
organizing tips for van life.
Getting my coffee made and then I think we're gonna go and do laundry today. It's
been a while. We need to get some clean clothes and it's Wednesday special at
the laundromat double load for a dollar what's the nice
thing when we live this life we can go any day we want to what are you making
this morning I'm making the Ethiopian okay listen everyone on instagram has
been getting to see me make coffee every morning people are liking your stories
hey I figured I'd try something different yeah why not get to see the
behind the scenes action all right well I'm gonna get us packed up while you
make that coffee oh are you still looking your bowl at
least we know it's gonna be clean okay fan closed yeah drawers are latched yes
they are I think we're ready to go you want me to
try or do you want to drag I'm happy to drive let's do this
if you had to guess how many loads of laundry do you think we have
in a normal-sized machine
and we're doing our sheets and everything I would say six to seven
okay you guard the van we're gonna go do laundry are you putting the shade up
well let's go scope out the situation because I don't know if it's
coin-operated or the sign outside didn't give it away Oh what did it say
coin-operated really or coin laundry
beep love your stuff
are we looking there are 19 double loads okay better a dollar each today okay and
it's all coin-operated alright let's strip the bed and we can go and get
these started okay here you go
okay uh-huh I think my seven six to seven loads is way under well let's see
how big these double load machines are
how you carry these two bags well I can carry another one okay I'll grab this
soap okay or if you want to put this open my bag
okay everything will be washers we'll be done to 11 and it's nice having our home
with us we just come back and work from the band are you a little worried about
leaving our all of our stuff in there unsupervised no because I can see the
the door right there if someone walked out with our stuff well they could just
put it in a bag that's true should I go in there and keep one out
are you worried about it no I wasn't worried about it okay I'm not worried
I'm not worried either all right listen if they want a bunch of well-worn wet
clothes and they need them that badly feel free perfect nothing quite like
camping in a parking lot no do you need much coffee sir every morning Kate and I
sit down I have my coffee she has our team we've opened up our laptops and
have our morning meeting so I think it's about time for our morning meeting you
ready honey I'm ready let's do it where are you
sitting I'll sit over here I'll let you get set
up
you've got my phone and I need to plug it okay let's go dry
put everything dry oh yeah you stay how do you wanna do this
why don't I hand you stuff okay wait the betting we can put on just on the bed
for now and then put all the laundry wait
yeah okay
do this easy way I don't know what it is but I love folding laundry I'm fine with
that you can fold all my laundry if you'd like to well then you have the
privilege here's a special van tip lay out your jeans
fold the leg over like this and then roll it tightly all the way
once you're done
hold the pant leg up doesn't come unraveled no that was the problem we had
just rolling them in and putting it in the cabinet we had opened the cabinet
and three pairs of jeans would fall out so this works out well genius all right
someone left tissue paper in their pocket sorry everything everything's
ready so one thing I like to do kate is taking out my old shirts putting in the
new shirts the fresh shirts yes and then I'll wear those first next
time makes it easy it's amazing how many shirts you have one two three there's
nine in here plus the one I'm wearing and this might work out sure we have so
much room did you see yeah well you've gotten rid of a lot of stuff since you
moved into the van originally yes people were making fun of you for how many
pairs of jeans you had oh and can we just clear the record cuz I know there
are people right now like why is enjoyed doing this himself why would you like to
do it oh I love it I love I love organizing I love folding the
laundry I love making the bed it's my thing
see this is my way of making Kate happy time to make the bed let's do it
I don't think we're gonna be able to film that you know it's a two-person job
after what I do is I stand in this open door here I'll make this side as Kate
makes the closer side and then Leo just hangs out under there like a chicken
wing and this is the after all done
technically this is the real after the feds not complete until my Packer
Snuggie is on it oh boy okay choose the post office
Leo's excited
all set got our tracking numbers that's for you
got our reading parties let's see it
I like that they sell fireworks here
ah it looks great yeah I love it you get some fireworks
set them off at the RV Resort yes it's Wednesday afternoon you know what that
means happy hour on the green got my beer ready to go you're equipped this
time
we need a golf cart with a glass of wine
fantastic I love this
I was so much fun it was really enjoyed myself great way to end a win
yep along with a walk through the golf course beautiful huh

🎄 IT'S CHRISTMAS MORNING... AGAIN! 🚂 (12.26.17) - Duration: 12:33.
It's Christmas!
Again!
♬ Don't you think we're better together ♬
♬ Oh Honey ♬
♬ I think we are ♬
[Both] Good morning!
It's Christmas!
Again!
We are at my parents' house now and this morning we had, like our...
Christmas morning.
Christmas morning with them and we had fun and look what we got!
[Mary] Oh!
[Peter] Choo choo choo.
We've always wanted a Christmas train. And...
So we're putting it together, and we got in at 3 o'clock last night and...
we made it.
We did.
I'm eating some pecans to try to get my blood sugar up. I just had some...
some sugar and
some nuts and
come on, Dexcom!
Well...come on, pancreas.
[snorts]
But it makes me very thankful for this little machine which lets me know. There's the Ollie boy. Yeah, we're having fun.
♬ Jazzy Christmas music ♬
[Mary] You happy?
Oh yeah, I'm like a boy on Christmas morning.
[Peter] Time for the maiden voyage.
♬ Jazzy Christmas music ♬
[Mary] Does that one go next? Yeah.
[Peter] It's the Polar Express one.
[Mary] This is the Polar Express!
♬ Jazzy Christmas music ♬
[Mary] The little hooky things are cool.
♬ Jazzy Christmas music ♬
[Mary] That is so cool!
[Peter] So cool.
[Mary] A new Christmas tradition!
[Mary's mom] Oh, is it fitting okay under there?
[Peter] I think so. We'll see how it goes.
♬ Jazzy Christmas music ♬
[Peter] All right. Should we try it out?
Oh yeah, I should turn this on.
[beeping]
[Peter] Oh, do you have to like pair it or something?
[Mary] Oh.
[Peter] Oh, there you go. You just had to turn this one.
[train whistle blows]
[Peter] Oh!
All aboard!
[Peter] Oh ho ho ho ho!
[Mary] Ahhh!
[train whistle blows]
I feel like you should do it first.
[Peter] Let's do it together.
[Mary] Okay.
[Peter] Okay.
[train starts up]
[Mary] Oh!
[Peter] Oh no!
[Mary] Hey, just like in the movie!
[Peter] Oh!
[Mary] Whoa!
[Peter] Okay.
[Mary] Oh, this one.
[Peter] I think because it's uneven they might come undone.
[Mary] Oh, okay.
[Mary] Wow, that is so cool!
[Mary] Okay, let's see.
[train chugging]
[Peter] Uh oh. It's too uneven.
[Mary] Okay, try number two. We took the tree skirt off.
[train whistle blowing]
[Mary snorts]
[Mary] It's a trial and error kind of toy, I guess.
[Mary] That is legit.
All aboard! This is the Polar Express!
[train chugging]
[Peter] Magical!
[Peter] Oh ho ho!
[Mary laughing]
[Mary] That is so cool.
[train chugging]
[whistle blowing]
[Mary] That is cool!
[whistle blowing]
[Mary] Look who's riding the train now.
[Mary] Ollie boy!
[Peter] Alright, your turn.
All aboard! This is the Polar Express!
[Mary] Oh!
[Mary] So much power!
[Mary] Oh wow! You can make it go faster!
We are easily amused and very happy with our toy train.
[Mary] Does the bell.
[Peter] Yeah, so, you have bell whistle.
I love our new Christmas tradition.
[Peter] Yeah.
[Mary] Oh!
[Peter] It's moving. You might get a runaway train.
[Peter] That is so cool.
[train chugging]
[Mary giggles]
Hey guys, we're just hanging out this afternoon, and
[Peter] Mary is in baby heaven holding little baby Wesley and...
[Peter] She's got him wrapped up in a sling and...
Loving every moment.
Soaking him up.
[Peter] And Ollie boy's eating his dinner.
Ah! I'm having so much fun soaking up baby time and
he is about eight months old so he's just like playing and sitting up and crawling around and...
I wrapped him up and wore him for a little while. Aww!
So precious! I'm having trouble keeping my blood sugar up today, so I'm gonna hook back up to feeds and just see if that'll
keep it more stable. I don't know.
Weird. It comes and goes. But we'll see.
[coughing]
Dinner time!
Everybody say hi vlog!
[scattered responses]
Hey, Jonathan!
We're just having a little bit of dinner. Merry Christmas!
[Both] M-m-merry Christmas!
Occupational hazard.
[Mary] I'm not sure if this is a talent or...
[Peter] You have cabinet opening skills with your
[Peter] feeding tube cord.
[Peter] Hey, guys.
[Peter] How you doing sweetie?
Good.
[Peter] Has it been a fun day?
We haven't even been here 24 hours.
Isn't that crazy?
I mean, you guys...
[Mary coughing]
Probably don't realize how crazy that is.
But I feel like we've done so much today.
[coughing]
We didn't have the camera with us, or vlog while we were...
[Mary coughing]
there but we went over and saw my mom and my brother and my sister and...
[Mary] Her family.
Her family and...
It was a fun
evening over there and then
my whole family,
which I have a
rather large
family. There are six siblings and we haven't all been
together...since...
a while.
[Mary] For five years.
I think it's been, yeah probably about five years. So, anyways...
Everybody's gonna be there tomorrow, so that'll be fun and crazy.
It will be fun. And as...
[coughing]
And as Peter so eloquently said a couple of weeks ago...
Some times are not for vlogging and for us a lot of times family time is just time for living and...
We are the ones who chose to vlog, not our family and we don't want to make those choices for them so...
[Peter] Yeah.
We don't always pull the camera out. Sometimes we do.
[Peter] Yeah.
Sometimes we don't and I think tomorrow
is just gonna be one of those like
family days, where we get to soak up time that we haven't,
we haven't seen many of these family members in a long time and
like tonight, we met one of our nieces who we have
never met yet and it was just fun. Speaking of that niece, I got to hold her!
And she's four months old and so today I...
[contented sigh]
I got lots of baby time.
[Peter] Oh yeah, you did.
[Mary] I was a happy happy girl.
Yeah. Well, we'll...
bring you guys along tomorrow, and...
It'll be a fun day, but it's good to be, we call this back home, even though like
I guess for us it's like our hometown where we grew up, and so I am worn out...
we probably only...I only slept like...
probably...
[yawn] Four...
three and a half hours last night. So...
[yawn]
[Peter] Yeah, about that.
We are so very much enjoying reading your comments
about what you guys get when you go to like a travel station or gas station...
Petrol station.
[Peter] Yeah.
Like, what foods you guys get.
[Peter] Oh, on yesterday's vlog.
Yes. So I say we do it again, like let us know or maybe like at the grocery store like,
what little snacky foods do you get?
I...
used to like Funyuns,
which I think some people think those are like really gross. It's like a crispy onion flavored chip.
[Peter] Yeah, to me that's really gross.
[Mary giggles]
But I love reading the things that you guys like.
Some of which I love, some of which kind of makes me feel nauseous, but it's so fun to like, I think humans are
fascinating.
This is true. Humans are fascinating and...
What also is fascinating is this crazy thing in the internet where you guys can
join us in our everyday adventures so...
If you're new around here you should
hit that subscribe button, and
we make new videos every day.
Tonight there were four tan dogs at his mom's house and I got a picture.
I'll put it right here.
[Peter] You got a picture of the tan dog convention?
Yes!
It was so cute.
Ollie and Gracie were on the couch. Abby was on her little cushy bed and Katie was on her bed.
It was Abby! You guys know Abby because she stayed with us for a few days. His brother's dog.
[Peter] And Gracie is my sister's dog, and Katie is my mom's dog.
Yeah.
[Peter] And Ollie is our dog.
The one and only.
Well, guys. I think
we are going to try to get some sleep and...
Yep.
[Both] As always,
We will see you tomorrow.
Goodnight!
♬
And I'll take you to see the Ollie boy one more time
before the night is over.
[Peter] I think he's ready for bed too.
[Peter] Goodnight Bonesy.

IELTS FACE-OFF | S02E15 | AN INDEPENDENT LIFESTYLE | Nguyễn Đình Tôn Nữ | Part 1: HOT SEAT [CC] - Duration: 13:03.
Sometimes it's so awesome to cruise around in life.
But a lot of the times you know we always want to be in a position
where we can be completely in control of our own destiny
While it is great to have somebody push you in life
But I think there''re a lot of times
We have to be really know what we want
So that we can be independent
so that we can eat whatever we want
We can drink whatever we want and we can shop we can get whatever we want
All of these things are the pleasures of life
But sometimes independence can be quite controversial
And there's a girl that made that controversial decision to be independent
and she's actually paused her education for a period of time
So that she can really discover what her independence is
So let's discover who she is today
And I'm super excited to bring her into the studio so that we can all talk to her.
Let's go.
When it comes to being independent, the mind must overcome whatever is around you or us.
And I think our guest today has really made a big decision
to be her own independent person
As well as to be her own independent thinker
regardless of potentially how her peers may think or regardless of how society might tend to think
So I'm very excited today to be able to actually shed a little bit of light into her thoughts
and what her views and opinions on the world
As well as her independence
So thank you Ton Nu for coming by
Thank you for inviting me
Yeah your name is actually very unique
You know a lot of the times it's people's surname
But for you it's your first name
Can you tell us a little bit more about
Why your parents gave you this name?
Well when my father named me Ton Nu
He wasn't thinking about the surname
He was thinking about the meaning of the word Ton Nu
Which is basically granddaughter or female descendant
so he gave me the name Nguyen Dinh Ton Nu, basically to tell me and remind me that
Regardless where I carry my name with me and that's to carry my family history with me
I will always be the granddaughter of my family.
And with regards to independent
What's more important to you right is it the memorabilia of thought or is it memorabilia of things?
Perhaps it's thoughts
I feel thought to be something much more personal
Because things can be manufactured by someone else
They have an external origin
but for thoughts I feel them to be much more internal and much more personal
That's great
When you found out that you got into Harvard.
Are you excited about Harvard
or do you think this is kind of like a burden that you have to drag along with you?
Both actually both because I feel like I've been given such a tremendous gift.
And whenever you're given a gift you also feel a sense of indebtedness
I feel very much indebted to Harvard
at the same time I acknowledge that it is like a magnificent opportunity
Really truly beautiful like I can't even begin to imagine
The people that I will meet
Think of the kind of ideas that we get to exchange
Whatever I desire
I want to do whatever I'm passionate about
whether it is changing the education system or to write poetry or make films
Harvard has the people and the resources for it.
It feels like being given a genie
that grants you all the wishes
That's what it feels like for me
Now when you decided that you were going to take a gap year from your University
Did your parents agree?
My father was like resign to see the fact that
"She wants to take a gap year so be it.
There's nothing I can say will change your mind."
He's very reasonable and resigned
But my mother was like
No, don't do it
You're not gonna do it I won't allow it
But my parents you know they had their differences of opinions
But I did what I wanted to do anyway
And they've come to really accept the fact of my being here
A lot of our audience is wondering what you will be studying at Harvard?
Can you share with us a little bit about that?
So I don't have to declare my major until the second year
But I'm thinking about Philosophy
or like this Harvard specific major, they call it Visual and environmental studies
You study media and film
and the kind of cultural ecology that it creates throughout the world
And I find it to be a very fascinating field of studies
and it is at the intersection between the arts and the social sciences
and everything in the technology
And pretty much everything that I hoped to be valuable tools in order to navigate this world
That is encompassed in that major
Because I wanted to study philosophy and films at school
I'm taking this gap year in order to like explore the art scene in Vietnam
What people are doing, What kind of things they are observing
And just really getting to know this country
in like a deeper and more personal way
That I'd never had the chance to explore when I was still in school
Well I wish you all the best in your gap year
And I'm super excited to to know all the amazing things that you will do in the next years to come.
So moving forth you know when it comes to talking about independence
maybe share with their audience a couple of terms or a couple of concepts
that you view is very important about this notion
First of all Accountability.
This is something that you can use for yourself
or you can use within the context of like teamwork.
within a community
Whenever you say that you're gonna do something
and people expect you to do it
You'd better do it
You should feel responsible for your actions
You should be aware of the consequences of your action
and be considerate towards others
Others here are not just other people
but others as in other beings other plants other animals
Another thing that is important for independence is Confidence
Confidence in yourself and confidence in others.
In other words trust
Sometimes in order to trust yourself and to trust others
You really have to have a certain courage, a certain bravery
In order to jump past some kind of doubt or fear
It is extremely important to have confidence
Because it carries your actions forward
And it creates like a solid sort of center for everything that you do
It solidifies your core values in order for you
to determine for actions you would take next and etc etc.
The final thing I think is important for independence is Love
Love is what ties it all together
You become responsible become trust for your faith
And most of all when you have love when you love
There's an emotional dimension to things that you do
You don't just rationalize your actions
And you don't just think about what is the most beneficial for other things and etc etc.
You know I'm actually very curious just to know who your teachers are
Because I've seen you read a lot
You know you actually quote a lot of authors and poets
Are your teachers people in books or you are your teacher yourself
Is your teacher your parents
Who were your teachers?
For me teachers aren't just people
and I find everything an opportunity to learn
And given that I would describe my teacher is life I see an argument as an opportunity to learn.
I see someone preparing a bowl of noodle with such care and attention
and it teaches me about loyalty and affection
so the act of preparing a bowl of noodle is my teacher
And if I were to name some people who are influential in my life
There would be so many just to name a few off the top of my head
My parents of course. My brother and my sister-in-law. They have taught me about love and living together. All those important things. That you need to learn to become a person in this world.
And I think for sure
it's very important for us to become people before we can actually be independent
We have to love who we are
We have to be confident as you said about who we are
For now, I want to actually ask you to help me participate in the IELTS Challenge
Okay
We're both gonna do something together
We're gonna find out really soon
So guys IELTS Challenge coming right up next
Coming up for the IELTS Challenge is a storytelling session
I love this storytelling session
because we're going to be able to test each other's imaginations
There's one more rule
It's that our sentences have to begin with the word that the other person left off
So shall we start?
Sure
I'll start
This morning the sun shone through my window blinds
allowing me to open my eyes after a restless night's sleep
Sleep
What an enigmatic thing
sometimes I don't even know that I'm sleeping or dying
Dying can have such a scary connotation
but to me why are people so afraid of dying
it's just a state of a physical being
who knows when you die your brain might live on forever
Forever or eternity
these such abstract concepts
because all we can experience is the now
how do we know that now is not eternity
and so confused by the concept of time
Time sometimes it's just tick tock on the clock
and eternity is just like a loop that goes round and round and round
time and eternity are sometimes just concepts artificially created by you and I
I just noticed that it is now 8:30 and I'm late for work
This is hard
Work
It's something that I do enjoy very much
One day I met this boy at work
he was quite cute he had a tie
Ties
I think they are such boring accessories
But it really makes me appreciate the kind of adornments that a woman can have
Having something it's very different from not having something
but sometimes a woman wants too much
and when it comes to this guy that I saw
I want him to be mine
Mine is in my arms and understanding my feelings
and cooking meals every morning
and driving me to work
like this morning because I'm late for work
and I don't know how to get to work
The end
Wow that was such an abstract story
That was like I don't know that was like Fernando Pessoa
makes it Franz Kafka
and maybe maybe
A little bit in the mood for love
Guys what did you think of that story?
Comment on Facebook and YouTube channel And let us know what you think
Alright so thanks a lot for coming by, Ton Nu
It's been a pleasure having you
I love having these conversations
and I think that you being here has really helped to kick start that conversation on the show
we don't have a lot of that
and I hope that
Moving forth you'll be able to have more and more of these conversations with more people
Thank you very much
I really enjoyed being here
You've been a very graceful host to me
Thank you And guys don't go away because our next section is the IELTS Expert section
so stay tuned IELTS Expert coming right up next

James DeGale: I need £30million to live my lifestyle - Duration: 3:46.
James DeGale: I need £30million to live my lifestyle
But despite being wild for women, it is his mum Diane and sister Eloise who keep him from joining fellow Brit Lewis Hamilton in moving to Switzerland to save on tax.
DeGale, 31, returns to the ring after 11 months out with a shoulder injury against American Caleb Truax. It is the IBF super-middleweight champion's first fight in Britain since he beat Marco Antonio Periban in Liverpool in 2014.
DeGale has had four fights in the US since – including the one where he won the world title in Boston – and has pocketed about £6m in earnings thanks to a lucrative arrangement with boxing advisor Al Haymon.
But the taxman has been getting his fair share, much to the Londoner's frustration. That's why I have to earn at least another £30m to live the way I want to live James DeGale.
"I know it is sick me saying it but £10m is not a lot of money," said DeGale, who has lost just one of his 25 professional fights.
"By the time I'm taxed and paid people, I would probably be picking up about £400,000. "That's why I have to earn at least another £30m to live the way I want to live.
"I remember being a lot younger and my dad telling me about the taxman and I never really understood him. "But now that I'm earning my own living, getting good money, I can see what he was talking about.
"Forty-seven per cent of my money goes to the taxman but I have never thought about going to live in somewhere like Monaco.
"I can remember someone telling me about the Beatles way back in the 70's and they were getting taxed as something like 98 per cent. That is stupid taking so much money off people in tax.
"I've never been tempted to live in somewhere like Switzerland but I was tempted to go and live in America where there is much less tax. I thought about going to Miami, I like it a lot there.
"I don't know if I could leave London, I love London. I don't think I could leave my family either, they look after me.
I'm a baby and rely on my mum and sister Eloise to do everything for me. I'm like if my tyre is flat, 'Hello mum, what shall I do'?".

Healthy lifestyle and exercise key to staving off alzheimer's, study finds
And it is never too late to start, say researchers who found that physical activity helps stimulate blood circulation in areas at risk in the front of the brain.
"We understand that living with dementia poses many challenges to individuals and their families and the idea of improving their physical fitness may seem like an unachievable target," said lead researcher Alice Hollamby, of University College London.
"However, we encourage increased physical fitness in any way – even what may seem like minor steps.
"Just helping out around the house or in the garden, taking a short walk or swim, or lifting things from a seated position could play a big part in slowing the progression." Study co-author Dr Eddy J Davelaar, from Birkbeck, University of London, said: "We all know we should embrace a healthy lifestyle to strengthen our physical and mental wellbeing.
"However, this is not to say that when one develops dementia, all hope is lost. "Our findings suggest that prior levels of physical activity did not influence the association between cognitive performance and physical fitness.
"This means it is never too late to start." Last night research bodies into dementia welcomed the new study, but stressed more research was still needed into the link between physical and mental fitness.
Dr Tim Shakespeare, of the Alzheimer's Society, said: "Regular physical activity is considered a good way to reduce your risk of dementia.
"But it's still unclear whether it can help people who already have the condition to improve their thinking skills." He added: "To be confident about the benefits of physical activity in dementia, we need to see large, carefully conducted studies that test the effects of giving an exercise intervention." Alzheimer's Research UK also advocated staying physically fit to reduce the chance of developing dementia.
A spokesman explained: "Risk factors for cardiovascular disease – like heart disease and stroke – are also risk factors for dementia, so what is good for your heart is good for your brain.
"Leading a healthy lifestyle and taking regular exercise will help lower your risk of cardiovascular diseases, and it's likely you could be lowering your risk of dementia too, particularly vascular dementia." Dr Karen Harrison-Dening, of Dementia UK, said: "Keeping active is so important for people with dementia and the people who look after them." Evidence has long suggested that physical fitness may help to prevent dementia, but the latest study further implies it could ward off further memory loss in the 850,000 Britons who are suffering from the condition.
In the new study, pensioners were tested on memory and thinking skills.
The study's senior author, Dr Dorina Cadar, from UCL, said: "Dementia is such a cruel disease which causes confusion and disorientation to the sufferer and enormous distress to their families and loved ones.
"Our study has helped to identify risk factors that could modify the rate of cognitive deterioration and disease progression.
"This gives us hope that ensuring a reasonable level of physical activity and optimal fitness could bring extra years of cognitive spark to those with dementia." The findings, published in the journal Frontiers In Public Health, suggest that, based on studies in animals, aerobic exercise increases blood supply and the growth of brain cells.
The paper follows evidence that older adults with dementia are better able to count backwards from 50 or name the months of the year in reverse while walking for 10 minutes.
There is no cure for Alzheimer's, a major form of dementia, which causes nerve cell death and tissue loss.

ALL OVER FITNESS: Exercise Epiphanies: "Your life depends on it" - Duration: 6:18.
Hi this is Cheryl Syer from All Over Fitness again.
Was in my room working out and it's 30 degrees outside and I thought why am I in my room
working out.
There are so many people who would use the weather outside as an excuse.
Not that 38 degrees is ridiculously cold but for Texas it is.
So I got to thinking while I was working out "why am I doing this?"
What is my motivation that drives me to workout in my bedroom when it's freezing cold outside
and I would have the excuse to say "you know what it's too cold, I'll just do it tomorrow?"
So I was thinking about it, it's the importance of working out, eating healthy, staying fit,
staying thin, staying strong, staying flexible.
All those things that keep me motivated.
But how do I do that, how do I keep it high on my priority list?
I make it something that has to be done.
It's something that I need to do, I have to do, I want to do.
I know that it is going to benefit me in the future but some people have trouble with that.
They have a hard time loving themselves enough or being afraid enough or whatever emotion
it is that drives people to do what they need to do.
So I got to thinking about it.
Put yourself in the situation where an epidemic has broken out.
People are dying right and left and someone comes to you, a doctor comes to you, and
says "If you take this pill every day you will not die, but if you skip this pill for
one day, you will die tonight (that night)".
So if you don't take your pill that day you will die that night.
How high on your priority list would taking that pill go?
How motivated would you be to take that pill everyday?
How important would it become in your daily routine in your daily schedule to make sure
you took that pill?
What if the pill is really big and you have trouble swallowing it?
Would you just be like oh the pill's too big I can't swallow it, I'll just die tonight?
Or would you figure out a way to take the pill?
Would you come up with a way to cut it, grind it, if it's a capsule open it up and put it
in water?
Whatever it took to take that pill?
If you loved your life enough wouldn't you do whatever it took?
Say you have trouble swallowing it.
Would you just be like oh well I can't swallow it I guess I'm doomed?
Or would you go get some water to try and help wash it down?
You would do the things it took to take that pill.
Whatever it took you would buy it, you would do it, you would put it in your schedule,
you would figure out a way to take that pill.
Exercise, eating healthy, meditating, visualization, stress relieving things that you can do throughout
the day are just as important as taking that pill.
Because whether it's going to kill you tonight if you don't do those things or whether it's
going to shorten your life later on 10, 15, 20 years from now.
You life literally depends on it.
So if you can look at exercise and eating healthy when you have those choices in front
of you of eating fatty, high carb type, fat, sugar meals and your looking at a salad and
you have the choice between a piece of pizza and a salad and you look at that as thought
this is going to affect my life, not just how I feel today, which yes it will affect,
but it will actually affect how long I live and how quick I die.
When you are trying to decide am I going to exercise today or am I going to put it off
until tomorrow.
Don't think that way!
Think I need to exercise because my life depends on it so what exercise am I going to do today?
Do I feel like lifting weights today?
Do I feel like cycling?
Do I feel like running?
Do I feel like doing tabatas?
Do I feel like maybe doing some situps?
But somehow you are going to find a way to make sure you exercise 20-30 minutes that
day because it's that important in your life.
That's how motivation drives you.
It doesn't matter what emotion you attach to that.
You may look at that pill and you may be afraid if I don't take that pill I'm gonna die tonight.
so fear may motivate you to take that pill.
You may look at that pill and say I love my life so much, I love myself so much that I
want to take that pill so that I don't die.
You may look at the people around you and say I love the people around me so much that
I want to be with them tomorrow so I'm going to take that pill.
You may take that pill because you'll feel shamed if you don't.
You might have sombody in your face shaming you if you don't take the pill.
It doesn't matter what emotion you attach to taking that pill or to working out or eating
healthy.
Whatever emotion you want to attach to it.
Personally I like positive emotion attachments but to be honest fear emotions work also.
I worked out for many years afraid, afraid of getting overweight, afraid of getting sick,
afraid of getting cancer, afraid of all those things, and those drove me to workout and
to eat healthy.
Now I do it more because I love myself.
I love myself.
I want to feel good.
I don't want to eat something and feel bad after that.
I don't want to not exercise for two or three days and feel sluggish and bad and lose all
of those endorphins and all of those good feelings that I get from that.
Now I do it because I love myself and because I love the people around me.
I know if I don't work out, I'm not going to feel as good so I'm not going to be as
good for them.
I know that if I eat crappy food I know I'm going to feel bad and that's going to affect
the people around me.
If I'm in pain and I hurt and I can't do things and I get grouchy and miserable because of
that it's gonna affect the people around me that I love.
So now I do it more in a loving way but no matter what emotion you attach to that, the
key is that it has to be so important that your life literally has to depend on it and
if you will place exercise, eating healthy, resistance training, visualization, meditation,
hydration all those things that we know are good for us.
If you will place that NO.1 on your priority list you will get it done today!
Anyway I hope this helps.
Again this is Cheryl Syer at All Over Fitness.
I hope you have a great day.
I hope you take that pill today because your life depends on it.
Love you guys!!
