Are you looking for a game that doesn't overheat your low-spec computer?

On this experimental series, We talk about lesser known indie games that work really well
on low end computers.
Now one of the reasons I like vising game conventions is to take a look at whatever
local indie developers are up to, and this game, flat heroes, definitively caught my
eye.
So we are going to start with that. Flat Heroes is a game that was released on
September 2016 by Parallel Circles, a company consisting of 2 people, InspectorRoar, a coder,
SuperLemonBits, a programmer and in this opportunity they have joined forces wih Salkinitzor, the
sound designer on this game.
The game calls itself a "Minimalist Super Intense Action Game", and it honestly is
the best way to describe it.
Flat heroes works around a simple "indoor challenge" mechanic and expands to incredible
heights.
There's a campaign mode and a multiplayer mode were up to 4 people can collaborate locally
to clear levels.
The challenge increases level by level in a way that keeps it fun without much frustration.
Observation and repetition are key to move ahead and at the end of several levels you'll
reach a boss.
You would be surprised at how fun this game can be.
It will constantly keep you at the edge of your seat as you avoid all sorts of objects
that go from bullets to… these things
There is a joke to be made here about this things but…
I am not sure we are the right people to do it
This game is very easy to lose yourself into and you'll find yourself gasping and grunting
as you barely manage to dodge some of the most deadly attacks.
It is very easy to learn how to use the abilities you have, but it can take a couple of deaths
or tries to master them completely.
In terms of performance, this is highly recommended across the board as I could get this game
to somewhat work on pretty much everything I tried.
Some very limited CPU devices will have some trouble when a lot was happening at the same
time but it was surprisingly withing playable parameters.

Let me tell you about Doki Doki literature club.
Doki Doki Literature Club is a game released in 2017 by Team Salvato.
This game is just your traditional Dating Sim Play Novel… or is it?
This game at first sight wouldn't raise an eyebrow or even make you catch any of the
underlying content past the first couple of warnings.
And who would blame you?
Once you start, it follows the typical formula with the MC (Main Character) getting to know
4 girls.
Sayori, Natsuki, Monika and Yuri.
Your childhood friend Sayori asks you to join a club that's starting up and they're
just one short of a member to become an official club.
As you enter the Literature Club, you get to know each of them more and more, up to
the point of trying to impress them with a few poems of your own.
However, as you advance in the game, you start to notice how they start acting a bit… different.
What could it be?
Maybe there's a secret you must find out?
Or could there be something or someone pulling some strings without you noticing? All right guys
Without giving away TOO much, Doki Doki Literature Club hides a sub-genre of psychological horror
under its Play Novel-style interaction with the player.
It narrates a wonderful story that evolves more and more and makes you immerse with the
characters and the events that will unavoidably unfollow.
On a personal note, I'm HORRIBLE with scary games.
Usually because with other games: it tends to lean on the scariness itself being the core
element from which a game was made.
The colors had to be dark, the surroundings quiet and action had to JUMP in your face
without you expecting it.
Doki Doki distances from this completely and in a way, forces the player to experience
some dark and gritty moments while never stepping too far from being what it is at its core,
a visual novel.
The game is not trying to be scary just for the sake of it or because it wants to be part
of a genre, there's a reason and a purpose to what you see and hear and especially what
you feel with each click.
As I was saying, I'm horrible with scary games and while this game definitely made
me change my pants a couple of times, it also made me come back for more and push through
all the way till the end thanks to its amazing story and well executed elements.
There are some good ideas that when they're executed wrongly, could lead to nowhere.
But when they're executed right, they could change the way we perceive games and this
is a great example of that.
So, if you want to get those goosebumps going and attempt to discover what lies beneath
all the kawaiiness, all you have to do is head to its website

In terms of performance, since this is a visual novel you can get away with playing it on
almost anything.
Alex did the entirety of his play through of the Intel Stick v1, which is the weakest
PC he has available and he never ran into any issues.
