Beyoncé Is Pregnant With Twins - Duration: 12:23.

That collective shriek of joy you're hearing from the BeyHive? Beyoncé and Jay Z are expecting twins. Beyoncé, the cultural and music powerhouse, dropped the news in an Instagram post on Wednesday afternoon with a picture showing her cradling a baby bump:

We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. - The Carters

The announcement was yet another example of the Beyoncé's penchant for tightly controlling her own narrative. She revealed she was pregnant in 2011 with a knowing belly rub at the MTV Video Music Awards, after a spirited performance of "Love on Top" — and a microphone drop.

(A quick camera cut to Jay Z, born Shawn Carter, smiling ear-to-ear as Kanye West shook his rapper friend by the shoulders confirmed the message.)

Their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, was born on Jan. 7, 2012. While Beyoncé is famously averse to interviews and rarely discusses her personal life without setting the terms, she put the spotlight on her marriage with the release last year of the album and HBO film "Lemonade."

It told the story of a struggling relationship, including explicit infidelity and, eventually, reconciliation. Many assumed the songs' lyrics — which ranged from heartbroken to defiant to forgiving — were autobiographical, though the couple never revealed how much of the story was based in reality.

(In her 2013 documentary, "Life Is But a Dream," Beyoncé discussed having an earlier miscarriage. "About two years ago, I was pregnant for the first time," she said. "I flew back to New York to get my checkup — and no heartbeat." Jay Z alluded to the experience in his song "Glory.")

"Lemonade" is nominated for a leading nine Grammy Awards at the ceremony to be held on Feb. 12. Beyoncé is also scheduled to headline the second night of the Coachella festival in the California desert on April 15 and April 22.

Things seem to be going well for the couple now — Beyoncé's Instagram post was signed, "The Carters." The pair's fervent and loyal fans responded with typical enthusiasm to the announcement: Twitter said more than half a million tweets were sent about the pregnancy within 45 minutes.

Some Coachella ticket holders wondered about the status of Beyoncé's scheduled performance.A representative for the singer did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Jay Z and Beyoncé are not the only musical duo with baby news. Pharrell Williams and his wife, Helen Lasichanh, recently welcomed triplets, according to reports.

Edmonia Lewis: Google Doodle salutes pioneering sculptor to kick off Black History Month - Duration: 7:38.

TO KICK OFF its celebration of Black History Month, Google turns today to a 19th century artist who burned so bright that her twin gifts of blazing talent and steely determination could not be denied even in the face of her era's discrimination.

Time and again, sculptor Edmonia Lewis — nicknamed "Wildfire" — faced obstacles and setbacks, yet she persevered as if her greatness were already cast. Lewis was orphaned at age 9, when she was adopted by maternal aunts and joined their Mississauga tribe.

She endured bitter racial bias at Oberlin College, which she began attending at age 15; she was falsely accused of poisoning classmates and was beaten, and was ultimately denied the chance to graduate.

She then was refused apprenticeships in Civil War-era Boston, until she encountered the well-connected sculptor Edward Brackett, whose clients included well-known abolitionists.

And she would then run a small art studio in Rome (a space formerly used by neoclassicist Antonio Canova), eschewing assistants because she was often without the means of fellow expat artists in Italy.

Yet she would shine as the first woman of American Indian and African American descent to discover international renown in the arts. [Winning Google Doodle invoking Black Lives Matter was designed by a high school sophomore]

Today's Google Doodle, by artist Sophie Diao, salutes Lewis and her great work "The Death of Cleopatra," which rests today in Washington at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. (Her work "Forever Free" resides nearby, with the Howard University Gallery of Art.) And the ribboned "Google" wording shines bright, befitting Lewis's nickname.

Lewis is also freshly represented in Google's "Arts & Culture" section, which spotlights some of her most iconic marble works, including "Anna Quincy Waterston," "Old Arrow Maker," "Poor Cupid" and "Young Octavian," as well as sculptures inspired by the words of Longfellow, whom she met in Rome.

[Google Doodle honors Fred Korematsu, who fought president's executive order on Japanese internment] Mary Edmonia Lewis was born near Greenbush, New York, circa 1844, and died in 1907.

Her great "Death of Cleopatra," carved in 1876, was believed lost to history till more than a century later, when it resurfaced like a Phoenix, fittingly rediscovered by a fire inspector. It was donated to the Smithsonian in 1994.

Tamar Braxton Beef Chronicles (Part 3): The Real - Duration: 10:44.

Tamar Braxton Beef Chronicles (Part 3): The Real

I mean you have to be honest with ourself ok i

might be what people my say just a little

animated

okay if I could change one thing about

my wife what would it be

there are so many things...YOUR MOUTH!

NO, I don't know no kind of quiet so get your life. How about that!

YOU TRIED IT!

YOU TRIED MY LIFE!

I feel everbody at this table been a side chick whether we know it or not

YES Y'ALL HAVE BEEN TOO, LADIES. GET YOUR LIFE!

WE BE CRACKING UP!

GIRL BYE! SIT DOWN! STAY WITH IT!

I LOVE BLIZZARD! BANANA SPLIT BLIZZARD!

let me ask you question what is

something I mean we've seen you on

Braxton Family Values and of course

the show with your husband Tamar

and Vince. We see you on The Real

what is the biggest

misconception of Tamar Braxton what

would that be

I think these days that...

I don't know maybe like I'm I'm like a

how do I say this without cussing

like I start like I've got a bunch of stuff and

not you know I'm very professional on

time and I'm really into my work.

I'm really passionate about my work and all

this

nonsense stories that surround me is really

not my life really

Ok, I have a question for the two of you..

Vince, what gets on your nerves the

most about Tamar and Tamar what gets on

your nerves the most about Vince?

Thread lightly Vince....That's not fair Tamar. That's not fair.

Really, really...Tamar is just so passionate about her career and this is

where people don't understand they think "Oh, she's this diva

she's beautiful"

it's not that she just constantly wants

to do a good job and be better

so you know that's it's not that it

gets on your nerves but she just strives

for greatness so much

it goes on all the time because she's

just like how can I do this better

who should I do this with, how can i make

the video...That was a good answer Vince.

I'm being honest. What he's saying is that he don't always want to talk

about work I'm being honest like that's what she does all the time.

I don't hate nothing about my wife. She's

a wonderful woman we wouldn't be

together 12 years if that was the case. It's just that she loves her

work so much she talks about it all the time.

Let me ask this..what about her and her

mouth and some people say she's too

opinionated, does that ever get on you?

She's she's not opinionated it's just her

feelings about situations...

you know what it is, its like everybody got an

opinion yeah that's how you take it it's

like she's gonna say what she feels like

anybody else. I'm quite sure Michelle Obama tell Barack how she feel

that's true.

ok what about you Tamar, what gets on your nerves about Vince?

Did Vince just compare himself to President Obama

We're all people...everybody goes to the bathroom.

As I go through all this stuff Tamar you're

also like i said earlier you're also on The Real

talk show that you get to give

your opinion has anybody on that show ever said to you

]you gotta pull back sweetie you

gotta stop... on the show meaning like...

producers anybody say to you...

No, Child

But you really do, you have an opinion.

and what I love about The Real and the

format of the talk show you guys sit on

Fox you guys have real chemistry

yes we do. I love the chemistry Loni love is

just crazy as ever. "Hilarical"

She's the greatest ever

were you worried about that did you

think you ladies will come together and

have that kind of instant chemistry

No, you know actually I want to testing and

we all sat at the table and they taped it

and that was the sizzle because yes

instantly we connected i honestly think

it's the cast i think the chemistry that

we have is different i think the fact

that we keep it "Real", I even think that the topics

of the show are very different than the

other shows.

How do you guys get along?

honestly, honestly we get along

I hope it stays that way but for the

most part we do

yes and one of my one of my favorite

girls on the panel is Tamar and we couldn't be

any more different from each other and

she said I can't wait to just sit right

beside her and be like "hey girl, how you doing?"

we're very different but we're really

close

because i don't know on the on the talk

people are talking about i mean the

The Real people are talking about well Tamar doesn't

get along with so and so and this and that and so and so forth...

But you know what, they always going to attack the biggest star on the show

that's hilarious because you know me and the girls really really got

along really well as a matter of fact I

found THREE (3) Fabulous Fabulous good

friends out of it and I am I feel like

they're part of my life and they'll be a

part of my life forever

whatever the show gets picked up or not

fan of the show i watch all the time of

course every day and it really does look

like you guys are sisters like you have

a sisterhood you don't get to pick your

family but you do get to pick your

co-host sometimes.

No, we don't!

that's a whole other segment actually

can you imaigne if there was like one that we just

didn't you know. I learn something new from

these ladies every single day.

Yeah, imagine that...and I love The Real

moments....that's when its gets Real

so I know the show is its new so who

would be like the ideal guest on the

show give me one...Idris Elba, Idris Idris Elba Idris...

JLo...I would like Tom Ford.

Tom Ford....I don't pop Molly

in the words of Beyonce to the left to the left

and in the words of Tinder swipe left swipe left

WHO?

If I'm gonna confesst there's maybe like two

men in my life that i have on standby that's

Alexander McClain and Marc Jacobs and

they do me just fine

I can not and I won't

what's amazing about this though and we were talking in the break

you said it was married or women or your

relationships....I may not be in my

undies and stuff but if I was at a club

Loni with you I would actually like

get up in there like.....

Girl, Sit Down!

so glad your sitting...i love i love the video

A onion a spicy onion...A wild onion...A wild onion.

yes that was ok the French it's a French

Cherokee and Indian honey...

I think Vidalias

are always taster so I should know that.

Girl, have several.

Cheesy.

The Real came on and i don't know

what you guys numbers are they gotta be big

because people love it...I saw that you

co-produced it did you put together

No, I didn't put it together. I actually kinda wanted to do like a

talk show with just myself and I thought it

would be more interesting if it was you

know a younger panel and it was kind of

you know the way that is now I felt like it was missing from television.

oh, are me and Tamar still cool?

absolutely um we're very very happy for

Tamar and I can't wait to support her on

the sidelines she is a very very talented

human being.

So there was no indication

that Tamar was going to let be go there

was no group thing and let me tell you

guys something we as the hosts we don't

have that type of power i had that type

of power i'd have my own show

ok I don't fire people we generally all

like each other

what you see on the table is what you

see sometimes you might be irritated

with each other sometimes we might

whatever smack or whatever that

aggressive eye rolling that we all do

you know that's just part of the nature

of the show but we generally like each

other

I hold Tamar's hand and that i'm still

holding her hand she's my friend and I'm

very devastated just like she is and

naturally I understand

Tamar's a good girl and she works

really really hard and she's very very

talented and I want people to understand

that and to know that we had nothing to

do with that with the whole situation

nothing

How are you?

Hey, will you ever watch The Real?

you won't

watch myself I'm The Real.

No, I'm joking, I'm joking, I'm joking I'm joking...

Will you ever watch The Real again?

This Girl Remembers 10 Previous Incarnations - Duration: 2:55.

This Girl Remembers 10 Previous Incarnations.

From the time Joey Verwey was just three years old, she was telling her family amazing stories

that she was able to remember from her previous ten incarnations.

Stories that were so unusual and detailed, there was no way that she could have learned

them on her own.

Her first life was a cave dweller about 200 million years ago.

She remembers being chased by a dinosaur, and leaving stone and bone tools behind in

a cave.

Today, she was able to lead investigators to a series of caves in South Africa that

she had never seen before.

These were the exact same caves where Royal Society Fellow, Robert Bloom, discovered the

missing link between apes and humans, Australopithecus Africanus.

Twice she lived as an Egyptian slave, and remembers with perfect accuracy the conditions

on board a slave galley, and their ancient techniques of paving stone roads.

There are other, less undefined memories from other ages, where she remembers wearing a

heavy veil, and seeing a Princess riding in a carriage on the back of an elephant.

She remembers details from her life as a persecuted Christian, during Roman Emperor Neros wicked

reign of terror in the first century, where she may have met St. Peter.

She also recalls living in South Africa in the early 1900s, as a grandchild of then

President Paul Kruger, and then growing up to have two husbands, and ten children.

On investigation, these people proved to be real, and it was discovered that one of her

children was still alive and in her nineties.

Five year old Joey met this elderly woman, who was instantly reminded of her own mother,

and the two had long, convincing discussions about their past family life together.

Reincarnation has been scientifically proved many times already.

You can educate yourself on the subject by reading:

Ji Seokjin & Kim Yongman's friendship was fake? [Happy Together / 2017.02.02] - Duration: 13:09.

Today's episode

is Lunar New Year special.

We asked you to bring a present.

Shall we open your present first, Yongman?

It is big but let me share few words of blessing.

Yes, please.

- I'd like to say a few words to Sooyong. / - To him?

I won't use the honorific

since we are friends.

- Sooyong. / - Sooyong.

Things are going your way.

I won't say everything will go your way, but some will.

- He said only some things will go his way. / - "Some"?

Sooyong.

Before now, nothing went your way.

I am so happy for you. I hope things will continue

to go your way this year. Stay healthy. That's it.

- Please give him your present. / - It's not for him.

- It's not for him? / - Only my words are for him.

You'll give your words and gift to different people.

- It's very westernized. / - Yes, it is.

- To whom will you give it? / - I'll give to Seokjin.

(Seokjin gets the present.)

They've been friends the longest.

- I met him when he was 20 years old. / - That's right.

- We met in 1987. / - I was born in 1986.

We served in the army together.

- We underwent a near-death experience. / - We did.

- Seriously? / - We did almost die.

Tell us the story.

I believe Kim Gunmo was there as well.

- Yes, he was. / - He almost died too.

It was me, Yongman, Gunmo, and Kyungmin.

You were marines.

A storm blew in the west coast in 40 years.

We were in a ship.

It was 100m long. The wave covered the whole ship.

- That really happened? / - Yes.

It was a tidal wave.

It was a tidal wave. The steamer's screw was ruined.

- It flew away. / - It flew away.

- Really? / - There were 3 40m-wide holes

- on the bottom. / - By the way...

It was 4m.

- By the way, / - It was 4m.

I heard this story 15 times per each person.

- I... / - I heard it more than 30 times.

I feel like I was there on the ship with them.

- It's like I dreamed it. / - I

know them well and have listened to

- the story many times. / - The audience hasn't.

- That's true. / - So what happened then?

- So then... / - It was 4m?

- It was 4m, not 40m. / - Don't exaggerate.

- We... / - How can the holes be 40m?

- We call... / - The ship was only 100m.

On that day...

It was 6 4m-wide holes.

- I was confused. / - It was 60cm at first.

That's right. It has grown a lot throughout the years.

The ship rolled.

The ship wobbled greatly.

- The bunk beds were falling. / - Really?

- Yes. / - We were talking and the mice

were scurrying between my feet.

- Just like in the movies? / - Exactly.

It sounds like there were many but they were only two.

- That's true. / - They're not helping each other.

They're not helping.

You can't say they were mice. You should say a mouse.

Two mice is still plural.

- What is that? / - So then,

the marines were baffled. We were only guests.

I asked what was going on and they said it was serious.

- That really happened. / - We had to wear the vest.

They meant the lift vest. At that moment,

the captain made an announcement.

"Listen up, everyone."

"After 15 minutes, we will do a takeoff from the ship."

- It meant we had to jump into the sea. / - Really?

- We had to jump off the ship. / - Why?

He wanted at least one of us to survive.

I'm sorry to butt in but are you giving a speech?

- I got carried away. / - You see people's true colors.

Some people were praying.

One of our colleagues was very sensitive.

- He said, "At least I should survive." / - Really?

- That's what Gunmo said. / - That's too mean.

He said he had to survive to sing and he was worthy.

- The universe helped us though. / - My goodness.

- There were lift boats. / - There were.

One boat could fit 16 to 20 people,

but the wind blew the boats away.

- We had them ready. / - The boats blew away.

- It was because the storm was strong. / - Yes.

Everyone instinctively

headed up to the top of the ship.

- I see. / - You can't help not to.

The captain again made an announcement.

"Listen up, everyone."

"We will stay on this ship until the end."

It's like a movie.

We decided to face death.

Yongman didn't talk at that time.

We peered into the captain's cabin.

He was praying.

I realized that this was it.

- This really happened. / - Then, something happened.

There was the storm.

There were two big islands.

The distance between them was 110m.

The ship without power settled between the islands.

- Goodness. / - It was an oyster farm.

It got stuck between them and the ship slanted.

The ship didn't flip over.

- The islands supported the ship. / - How fortunate.

What surprised us is that later we found out

that the islands were

where we were headed the next day for our show.

The islands we were supposed to go the next day

- saved us. / - My gosh.

The chance of us surviving was one percent.

What did you do first after surviving?

We arrived at the island.

We lined up to make a call to our parents.

I wanted to hear my mom's voice.

When I heard her voice, I almost cried.

Afterwards, we went to a small church

- and we wished for the best together. / - You did?

We decided not to live as we did previously.

- They gave us a 14-day leave. / - They were lucky.

The next day, we went clubbing.

When we went clubbing, Gunmo said, while dancing...

They are the fathers of clubbing.

- "We're alive." / - "We're alive."

- We completely forgot about our resolution. / - I see.

Do you plan to tell a story each time you give a gift?

- Sorry. / - We also had a near-death experience.

- What is it? / - Another near-death experience?

Should we prepare stories about near-death experiences?

We don't need words of blessing since it's new year.

- Please tell us the story. / - Okay.

(They're conversationalists back from the dead)

It's a story about Sooyong saving me and Yongman.

- What is it? / - It's quite a story.

Shall I tell the story?

Three of us went on a trip to Busan.

- It's good already. / - It was more than 20 years ago.

- Yongman had a car. / - Right.

It takes 5 or 6 hours to drive from Seoul to Busan.

We took turns driving.

I was the second one to drive.

- I was driving, but there was / - Right.

an accident in front of us.

I came to a sudden halt.

I saw in the mirror that the car behind us was

- Was it coming at you? / - coming at a full speed.

- It was about to crash into our car. / - My goodness.

My instincts told me to turn the wheel and I did.

- So what happened? / - It was about 0.2 second.

After I turned the steering wheel...

(I trust in you, a professional conversationalist.)

After I turned the steering wheel, we survived.

(It's the end.)

(Everyone's greatly disappointed.)

You delivered it so badly. It wasn't funny at all.

- What's wrong with him? / - Does he want to die?

(Today is his near-death experience.)

Is he trying to sabotage our show?

When I think about... My goodness.

- You have to do better. / - He's being sentimental.

What is this?

Because of this, our show is about to go under.

Jaeseok doesn't get angry easily.

What did you tell me to do it then?

(They couldn't make the story work.)

You did a terrible job.

How annoying he is.

- What did you say? / - "How annoying"?

Can he give the present now?

- It lasted 30 minutes. / - Why did you tell like that?

- Give him the present. / - Okay.

I want him to remember his early days.

We survived such a storm.

- That's why I want to give this. / - What is it?

- Thank you. What is it? / - What is that?

- Can I open it? / - The bag is pretty.

- The bag is big. / - Yes, it is.

- It looks better than the gift. / - Why is it thin?

- What is it? / - What is it?

- Is it a uniform? / - No way.

You are just returning my gift to you.

(He's giving back the present.)

This was Seokjin's LP record.

- I gave you this. / - That's really his?

I inscribed on it, "To my loving friend, Yongman".

I gave it to him on March 1st, 1992.

- It had the song, "I Know". / - That's right.

I look at the back cover but not the front cover

- because I look like a ghost. / - Let's take a look.

Show us.

(Do you want to experience a near-death experience?)

I look like a ghost in this picture.

- He really does look like one. / - He looks scary.

- This is how they made it. / - I don't look at it.

It looks hazy. I don't even have this record.

That's why I'm giving it to him.

I want you to keep it and remember your early days.

- Thank you. / - There's a hand-written letter.

- Really? / - How nice.

(Yongman personally wrote the letter.)

I wrote it sincerely. It doesn't suit the mood now.

It will be great if one of you cries.

Why don't you cry, Myungsoo?

Cry.

(If you want me to cry,)

(I will wipe my glasses.)

(He can change the atmosphere.)

- Timing's important. / - That was good.

"Seokjin, the hopeful"

"Year of Fire Rooster has begun."

"Forget what happened recently. Remember your early"

"days. I hope you will persevere this year."

"I will return your only LP record as a gift to you."

"We didn't have anything at that time,"

"but we were always brave and confident."

"I'm sorry that you're not on 'Running Man' anymore."

Why would you write that?

I'm sorry I thought he wasn't on it anymore.

- He's still on it. / - I still star on the show.

"Your family and friends still root for you."

"I wish this year will be a great year for you."

Thank you. My goodness. I appreciate this.

- Has it been 30 years you've been friends? / - Yes.

- It's about 30 years. / - I remember that sentence,

"We didn't have anything but we were confident."

That is true. We didn't have anything back then.

We had few bucks in our pocket.

We filled the gas for five dollars or something.

We didn't worry about our future. We just had fun.

- It was fun. / - I agree.

Why don't you give your present, Seokjin?

Surprisingly, I prepared one for Yongman.

- Share few words with him. / - I hope

he can be on time this year.

In fact,

he failed the driving test 13 times.

- He failed 12 times because he was late. / - Really?

He couldn't even take it because he was late.

When we didn't have cars,

we used to meet in front of train stations.

- He used to be late for an hour. / - Why?

When I went an hour later because he was always late,

then he came two hours later. It was so weird.

I could feel if he was going to be late or not.

(This is their 30-year friendship.)

When we didn't know anything in the army,

we started to host shows as MCs.

We started in the army.

We started together when we were inexperienced.

We showed a great chemistry between us in the army.

Oddly enough, we never got to star on a show together.

- We only did a pilot program together. / - Right.

We barely worked together. So this year,

I prepared this gift as I wished

to star on a show together. I'm a bit embarrassed...

Shouldn't I open it?

I'm sorry.

(I couldn't wait to show you the gift.)

It's a friendship bracelet.

- It's a friendship bracelet. / - One of them is mine.

(Bromance between two middle-aged men?)

- This is a bit much. / - It's a bromance.

- Put it on. / - What are we doing?

Look at him checking the box in case there's more.

(He grumbles as he checks the box.)

Why did you check the box?

- Just in case. / - A friendship bracelet is enough.

He prepared a friendship bracelet.

This looks pretty.

I can't wear this sort of things.

- It's a bit corny. / - He can't put it on by himself.

- It's... / - What a sight to be seen at your old age.

What do you mean by "old age"?

(A heart-warming friendship)

I'd have never guessed he'd give me something like it.

- It's too corny. / - Let us not

throw out the bracelet.

- Don't lose it. / - Promise each other.

Now he's saying this,

but after few months, when Yongman has it on,

he will say, "What is that?"

Mark my words.

- He's right. / - I am 100 percent positive.

He said, "Don't lose it."

- "Where did you buy it?" / - Right. He'll say that.

"Let me have one."

Did you buy this at the last minute?

(His gift is losing credibility.)

I have a personal question. You look really close.

How much can you lend when one of you is struggling?

- You mean money? / - Yes. He really needs it.

I can lend Jaeseok 300,000 dollars.

- Do you mean it? / - Yes, I do.

Before I could lend him 500,000 but I lowered it.

Back then, my wife used to work.

With her severance pay, I could put together the money.

Now I can lend him 300,000 dollars with a mortgage.

You never said you will take out a mortgage.

I think I can lend him 400,000 or 500,000 dollars.

- That's how I feel. / - That's amazing.

- I have to check / - You're shocked.

if he owns the house first.

- He's realistic. / - I should check on his loans.

I'm just joking. I can lend him about the same amount.

I know him. His generosity depends on my generosity.

That's why I told my number first.

- He's right. / - That's the reason.

- He knows me too well. / - I know how he thinks.

I had a feeling he will say a small amount.

I said 400,000 dollars because he said 300,000 dollars.

- Is that so? / - Yes.

- I can lend you that much. / - This is nice though.

How nice.

You exchanged the presents.

Make sure you use what you received.

Soohong, to whom will you give your present?

Was It a Muslim Ban? - Duration: 11:26.

We have to talk about the so-called Muslim ban today.

Before I say anything else I want to be crystal clear on one fact: I am absolutely against

any ban on immigrants based solely on their religion, whatever religion that may be.

I will always judge people as individuals, not as a collective, and I certainly don't

plan on stopping now as this fight over refugees and immigration is just heating up.

Within any group there are sub groups of people, and often these sub groups contain the most

vulnerable populations such as free thinkers, gays, and atheists.

Just so the trolls get it right: I, Dave Rubin, am 100% against any blanket ban which targets

all Muslim people, and I would feel exactly the same way if it was targeting other religion.

Now, this refugee issue is one of those topics where, no matter what I say, I will get hate

from both the extreme left and the extreme right.

Actually, the more I get hate from both sides the more I realize I'm doing the right thing

because nuance, honesty and logic are lost on those who stay on the dogmatic fringes.

So, before I share my thoughts, I think it's important we separate some fact from fiction

and discuss what's actually in Trump's executive order.

I've got the whole text of the order right here and yes, I read the whole order, unlike

most of the people screaming about it online.

Despite what the hashtag on Twitter might tell you, this is not a Muslim Ban.

First off, The word Muslim isn't in the text of the order, not even once -- you'd think

if you were exclusively trying to ban people of one religion from entering the country,

you'd have to cite which religion you're talking about.

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, the ban doesn't include any of the five most populous

Muslim countries: Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and and Nigeria.

So, if this was exclusively a Muslim ban, it does stand to reason it would include these

countries, which adds up to roughly 750 million people.

So if it is a Muslim ban, it's excluding more than half of the Muslims in the world.

This doesn't mean there aren't some valid questions about the list of which countries

are banned, as well as some glaring omissions of this executive order.

The 7 countries listed are: Syria, Libya, Sudan, Iran, Yemen, Somalia and Iraq.

All of these countries are involved in heavy sectarian violence, some of which is a direct

result of American intervention, without question.

To be clear though, no major terrorist attack has happened on American soil from anyone

from the 7 countries currently on the banned list.

At the same time there are omissions on the list, most notably Saudi Arabia, which 19

of the 21 9/11 hijackers were from.

The argument I've heard on this is that the ban applies to current conflict zones, and

as odious as the Saudi government may be, the country isn't a war zone.

I don't see how this is related to whether extremists are coming out of the country,

actually we know they have in the past and continue to do so, but that seems to be the

argument being made.

There are also many questions as to whether Trump's business ties in countries like Turkey

and Saudi Arabia were at least part of the reason that they were left off the list.

We know for a fact that Turkey is letting ISIS fighters into Europe through it's border

and Saudi Arabia is the home to the worlds most fervent stand of Sunni Wahhabism.

So quick recap so far, we have a ban on nationals from countries which are currently hot beds

for terrorism, though the list is incomplete at best and arbitrary or ill conceived at

worst.

Next is whether this is an actual ban or not.

From reading the document itself as well as analysis from other sources I generally trust,

there is in no way this order, at the moment, is some kind of permanent ban on the people

from the countries listed.

It's a 90 day ban on people from those 7 countries and a total temporary stop of our refugee

admission system for 120 days so the vetting system and other processes can be reviewed.

The one exception to this temporary stop is for Syrian refugees, who are banned indefinitely.

Perhaps this will lead to Trump trying to actually ban all foreign nationals from these

countries or even expanding it to other countries, but at the moment, it is a temporary ban while

we figure out what's going on at our borders.

Simply put, whether you like it or not, this is one of the promises Trump made.

If at the end of the 120 days we have a stronger vetting process not based on blanket bigotry

but rather on informed decisions about each person individually, then we can start to

have an honest discussion about how many refugees we can or should let in.

On the extremes we now have people calling for totally open borders which is national

suicide, and we have other people calling for zero immigration which is the antithesis

of what America stands for.

Another important piece of the order is the deference is being given to religious minorities

who are under persecution.

I find the anger against this quite confusing.

The left is supposed to be for minorities, but in this case, giving priority to Yazidi,

Kurds, Christians and others who are being wiped out as we speak, is somehow being turned

flipped as if this is supposedly anti Muslim.

The truth is these religious minorities are the most vulnerable communities.

It doesn't matter if you're a believer or a non believer to understand that protecting

the most at risk is the right thing to do.

An interesting point to add here is the Obama administration let in 12,000 Muslims from

Syria in 2016, but only 100 Christian refugees.

I don't know the reasoning behind his policy, but where was the outrage when Obama left

Christians behind, if this current outrage truly is about protecting minorities who are

in harms way?

The order also limits the amount of refugees to 50,000 per year which is basically in line

with where we've been over the past 15 years or so.

For example in 2003, 2006 and 2007, we admitted less than 50,00 refugees per year under George

W. Bush.

Obama bumped up admitted refugees to 70,000 people in the last two years of his administration,

but in the previous three years before that he was right around 50,00 as well.

Without getting too lose in the numbers here, the point is, Trump's proposal isn't far off

previous administrations, especially if you remove the bump in the last two years under

Obama.

Of course you could argue American action or inaction in Syria has led to many of these

refugees in the first place.

So again, where was the outrage when we were dropping bombs, not just temporarily limiting

refugees.

Of course the last few years also coincide with a jump in world wide jihad especially

in countries which have taken in many refugees.

I think if you could ask the people of Germany, France, and Belgium if they might rethink

some of their immigration policies over the past few years there would be a resounding

yes.

These countries now have to deal with homegrown terror as well as the influx of refugees which

has created a new set of problems both economically and culturally.

None of this is a reason not to let sensible amounts of properly vetted refugees in, but

it does lend credence to a temporary pause while we figure out if our vetting is effective

seems fairly sensible.

The rollout of the order was no doubt absolutely chaotic and confusing but I'm not sure if

any real change to our system could be done without a certain amount of chaos and confusion,

especially because of a media that thrives on emotion over fact.

Finally, there also seems to be some confusion as to whether people who currently reside

in the United States with green cards from these 7 countries mentioned in the order would

be able to leave the country and come back.

At first it sounded like they couldn't get back in, then it sounded like yes, now it

sounds like a case by case basis.

For example, my friend and former guest Faisal al Mutar, who is a refugee from Iraq who now

lives in America and has devoted his lives to fighting Islamist and for secularism, could

possibly be locked out of the country if he was to go do a speaking gig in Canada with

my friend and former guest Ali Rizvi, a Muslim reformer.

This portion of the order still seems to be in flux, which is evidence of a unprepared

roll out.

Of course this is 2017 and facts seems to take a back seat to fiction and hysteria at

every turn.

So some protesters are protesting without really knowing what's happening.

New York Senator Chuck Schumer is crying and talking about a Muslim ban when he knows full

well that isn't what this is.

People are now drinking more Starbucks or boycotting Starbucks because Starbucks CEO

Howard Shultz said he would hire 10,000 refugees.

Elon Musk, who publicly offered on Twitter to take people's concerns directly to Trump

is being attacked by people as if he's enabling a Nazi.

As I predicted a few weeks ago, misguided outrage is taking the place of real discussion.

So when politicians scream about a Muslim ban, which this is not, it feeds the fire

to Trump to do whatever he wants, because no matter what he does he knows they are going

to be outraged.

This is why the regressive left and the Trumpian right are the match made in hell for each

other.

We have one side which refuses to debate Islamism and immigration honestly and another side

that will be all to happy to use circumvent our intended legislative process with the

stroke of a pen.

If you value liberty over authoritarianism, then neither of these positions are tenable.

In an effort to make sense of some of the madness surrounding the executive order, I

have a few interesting conversations planned for this week, and I also want to share two

articles by people I truly respect, thought they are often at opposite ends of the political

spectrum.

Below you can find links to an article Ben Shapiro wrote about the order, as well as

a blog post by Sam Harris.

In addition to those sources, in case you missed it, I did a live stream with Faisal,

who is directly affected by this order, and you can find a link to that below as well.

And finally, my guest this week is no stranger to controversy and also someone who often

finds himself in the crosshairs of people on both extremes.

Glenn Beck will be joining me in studio today to discuss refugees, Trumpism, the modern

conservative movement, online media and more.

I agree with Glenn on some issue and disagree with him on other but generally find him to

be willing to have the hard conversations, which right now we need more than ever.

How Journalism Was Corrupted by the Power of Privilege | Gay Talese - Duration: 6:18.

It was alleged that the newspapers were not aware the large percentage of the population

of American citizens were unhappy with the ruling establishment, did not feel their voices

were being heard and they voted against what everybody thought was the leading candidate

and instead voted for this rank outsider, a very unpredictable and generally unpopular

person, this businessman, this egotist, this rakish character named Donald Trump.

I thought what was missing from the newspapers, and I think more than that from Americans

in general who watch television, who read books, who teach in universities, who are

among the educated classes, which almost includes everybody these days.

The reason I say that, in my lifetime born in 1932 and becoming a journalist in the 1950s

and at the time I became a journalist in the 1950s we journalists, whether we worked for

the New York Times or the Philadelphian Inquirer or the Chicago Tribune were generally the

first of our family to have gone to college.

And when I say college I do not mean Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, I mean Brooklyn

College or in my case the University of Alabama.

We were not going to the elite colleges, if we went to college at all we were considered

scholars in our family.

But what we were, not true today, but what we in the mid 20th century America we were

outsiders.

We journalists were of the outsider class whether we were Italian heritage as me or

Jewish or African-American or Spanish, whatever.

And we did have courage because most of us had come from parents or grandparents who

had first-hand knowledge of persecution in foreign countries and who came to this country

on the run and brought with them the spirit of unfairness.

And we as the inheritors of their spirit in journalism we were the children of those people,

we brought not cynicism but skepticism of power.

And it was never our ambition to be part of power because we were chroniclers of power,

we were critics of power, we were viewers of power, we were outsiders.

Well those days are long, long, long gone.

What we have now, 50 years beyond what I'm talking about, is a group of journalists who

go to the same elite schools as the most privileged people of power.

Obama was a college professor, a Harvard man and he was teaching while president for the

two terms essentially teaching class to the higher classes, including the journalism of

his time.

Now you have this rank foul-mouthed, God with his awful blonde hair becoming elected and

then people in journalism oh god it's so embarrassing.

It's like they were so stunned it's like having their world is shattered.

Why are you so shattered?

Why are you so stupid?

Don't you realize that you journalists are so blind?

You don't know as journalists anything except being educated from the time you're privileged

little kids.

I mean even the poor people, black people, Hispanic still want to be like the privileged

white people.

And what I'm getting at in a long-winded way is that we journalist have failed.

We're a failed profession.

The pride that my generation took being strong as a force against the powers of prerogative,

the powers of privilege doesn't exist anymore.

It doesn't exist anymore.

The journalists now want to be part of a power game.

They want to get on Air Force One.

They want to join Trump at 21.

They want to have dinner at 21 with him.

They want to be clustered in Washington, which is the most decadent city.

It's the most evil empire.

If I were running Washington, boy do I sometimes have grandiose ideas in the middle of the

night if I was running Washington.

I would get half of those reporters out of Washington, break up the Washington press

corps, send them all over to the state capitals.

We have 50 states; put two reporters in every state instead of covering Congress or the

cabinet or whatever, let the people who are from these states report the mood of the states,

report the feelings, the findings, the personalities that are in parts of America that are not

in the mainstream in the mainline.

And we tell our story not from the powerbrokers that are clustered in Washington those privileged

power and generally rich people, but we tell something about the results of law, the results

of privilege, the results of ignorance, the results of bad decisions and war, we'd cover

injured soldiers, we'd cover the life of farmers, we'd cover a grease mechanic a guy some redneck

sheriff somewhere.

And if we knew the America that way we would not be surprised by such an election as we

had in the aftermath of Obama's eight years.
