No. 1 "If you empty your purse into your head
no one can take it away from you.
An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest."
If you're under 30 as you watch this video, I have a very important advice for you;
Listen!
The most valuable investment you can make is to your mind because that's the most
important thing you've got.
Life is tough and that shouldn't be a news to you.
I don't care whether your parents are millionaires or politicians, you won't have success and
fulfilment in life if you're not able to fight through several unavoidable odds life
will throw at you.
The only weapon you can trust is your mind and how healthy it is.
So what kind of knowledge should you seek?
Just two; Specialized knowledge and general knowledge.
70% of your time should be spent seeking specialized knowledge.
Let's say you want to be an entrepreneur, for example, you owe yourself the duty to
study hundreds of books about entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs.
This will make you an unbeatable lion in your field.
Secondly, you need to have basic understanding about most other things in the world.
For example, you can decide to spend 2 hours this weekend to study about world-war 2.
You can decide to study a little about physics, biology or current affairs.
This generalized knowledge broadens your mind and makes you a smarter individual.
No. 2 Do not anticipate trouble, or worry about
what may never happen.
Keep in the sunlight."
90% of the things we worry about will never happen.
Few that will happen will be manageable and only few things in our life's time will
be too big than we can handle.
The best approach to life is, keep moving.
If life has dealt you a blow that keeps you from flying, run.
If life keeps you from running, walk.
If life keeps you from walking, craw.
Worries wastes much of your time.
Stop worrying.
Keep moving.
No. 3 "Energy and persistence conquer all things."
Robert Schuller said, "Tough times never last, but tough people do"
Anthony Robbins said, "The only problem you have is that you think you shouldn't
have problem" As a young person, you must see the world
like a soldier.
If you're not strong enough, the world will swallow you.
Your ability to fight back at every obstacle and persist even when there's little hope
is what will make you a successful person.
No. 4 "He that is good for making excuses is seldom
good for anything else."
More than 90% of the people in the world are good at making excuses and that's why they
are not good in anything else.
If you want to make excuse, you'll always find some.
"Your parents are poor" "The government is bad"
"The economy is bad" "The weather is not perfect"
You can wait forever and blame everything else for your woes but no one is listening.
Whatever you want to do with your life, face it as if you have no one to help you because
you really don't.
No. 5 "Employ your time well, if you mean to get
leisure."
You must have heard it said that time is money.
Benjamin Frankly was the owner of that quote.
Time isn't just money.
Time is life.
Show me 100 poor people and I will show you that they either squander time or invest it
on wrong things.
Show me 100 successful people and I will show you that time is their most cherished asset.
If I know how much respect you have for time, I can predict your future.
Time is life.
Invest it wisely.
No. 6 "He that can have patience can have what
he will."
We are at the jet age where everything happens instantly.
Because of this, most people expect their dreams to be achieved in few months or years.
This is what I tell young people.
If you're not willing to sacrifice 5-10 years for your dreams, forget it!
Warren Buffet said, "You can't have a baby next month by impregnating 9 women today".
Good things simply take time, a lot of it.
You see, most overnight successes you read about happened only after a million sleepless
nights.
Success needs patience.
No. 7 "If you would be wealthy, think of saving
as well as getting."
Most people I know earn money to spend money.
I see this everywhere I look and it's very funny.
When you earn money to buy a new iPhone, TV or Shoes, you're simply paying the rich
first.
Working hard to make the rich richer is the surest path to poverty.
Don't earn to spend.
Earn to save, invest then spend.
No. 8
"If you would persuade, you must appeal to interest rather than intellect."
Getting other people to help and support you is one of those things you'll do all your
life.
You must be good at this.
How do you get good at this?
Don't appeal to people brains.
Appeal to their emotions.
Don't tell people to help you.
Let them see how helping you is helping them.
No. 9 Do not fear mistakes.
You will know failure.
Continue to reach out.
Less Brown said, "The reason why we're not living our dream is because we're living
our fears" Until you overcome fear, you can't overcome
life.
Don't pray for easy life.
It's for cowards.
You'll make mistakes.
You'll stumble.
You'll know failures.
Don't complain.
Fight hard and fight on.
No. 10 "Well done is better than well said."
The world is filled with talkers.
Everyone I've ever met has dreams but only few people ever throw themselves into the
bush and look for their dreams.
The universe doesn't respect or reward your dreams.
Well done is better than well said.
Be a doer and not a talker.
Stop making excuses.
Take full responsibility.
Get out and get your hands dirty.
In summary, if you want to be rich and successful in life;
Invest in your mind by reading or listening to good audio books.
Don't waste much time worrying.
Focus on actions.
Be enthusiastic and persistent Stop making excuse.
Start with what you have, where you are.
Your time is your life.
Invest it on productive tasks.
Be patient.
Good things take time Don't earn money to spend money and make
the rich richer.
Save and invest.
To persuade people, appeal to their emotions, not their brains.
You'll make mistakes, fail and fall.
That's fine as long as you keep on fighting.
Well done is better than well said.
The universe doesn't care about your dreams.
Your actions are what matters.
