Youtube daily life style Aug 27 2018

It's undeniable; apartment living is a big part of real estate buzz in Australia.

What comes with that is the need to be smarter with our living spaces,

and consider space-saving options in every room.

Let's see what we can find here.

Sometimes, you don't have to buy extra storage furniture.

Integrating a full shelving system inside cupboards, pantries and wardrobes

can double your hidden storage space,

leaving less chance of your things creeping outside and creating clutter.

Consider if you really do need a dining table.

Could you create a dining space on your kitchen bench?

Multifunctional furniture means less footprint is taken up by extra pieces.

An ottoman with a lift-up top can be used for extra storage, seating,

and pop a tray on it, and you have a coffee or side table.

Love these space-saving tips?

Watch on. You can learn about turning storage into decor in the next episode.

How To Live Your Dream Life | Lifestyle Design - Duration: 25:54.

- Hey everyone this is Bridget

and today we're gonna be talking about lifestyle design

so creating the life of your dreams.

This can look like many different things for you

so take this information and sculpt it for yourself.

But as examples, it can look like traveling the world,

it can look like having more time for your passions,

just having more free time,

doing what you love and getting paid.

Those kinds of things.

So how do we sculpt our lives

so that we're not under the

you know, constrictions of others

or the system so that we can truly, fully express ourselves

and live our passion,

live our excitement.

So this idea came up from the event

I was just speaking at.

And quite a few people came up to me

and they said do you live at Sedona,

do you live in Hawaii?

And how did you live there?

Like how do you do this, how do you do this?

And I was like alright I'll do a video

and I will tell ya.

So, this is what we're gonna be going into.

Now first and foremost, this is in both categories

of energetic, law of attraction

so it's very much so connected to that.

And then its also this very practical left brain

kind of like logical, rational configuration

so we're gonna need both parts of ourselves,

the fullness of ourselves to be able to do this

because it's something rare.

You know, it's kinda like bri, it is that form of

okay once you've broken out of the matrix,

well then what do you want your life to look like.

So that's what we're gonna be going into.

So as your breaking out of the matrix,

that's one of the kind of keys to the lifestyle design

is in some way transitioning your life,

transitioning your time so that you can have

full sovereignty once again.

So this might not mean quitting your job right away

but the idea of getting really clear

on what you want, who you want to be,

what you want to be doing with your time,

with your life so that you can create it

appropriately, intentionally.

So we'll be going into all the different ways

that we can look at this.

how to go about it practically,

how to figure it out as we go on with this video

so stick around 'til the end.

But to begin, we must realize

that this is a whole different operating system.

It's a different energetic operating system

when you become self sovereign,

when you become your own designer of your life.

That means that there's a lot of creative life force

that it requires

but that comes back to you

because it's a self fulfilling fulfillment, if you will.

So as you're transitioning

and how to go about this,

first and foremost you need to understand your value,

understand your gifts,

understand your offerings, your service

that you can give to others.

Because this is your value.

This is your currency.

This is your form of exchange.

So as we're first going into this,

and transitioning into lifestyle design,

exchange actually becomes

really the easiest way as well as the best way

to learn about yourself and to learn about the world

and it's really amazing.

So money isn't actually,

money actually needs to be taken out

in the beginning as you transition your lifestyle design

so that you can understand what your value is to give

and what the world wants in exchange for that value.

Now you can just say, start your own business

or whatever you wanna do

that is very kind of mainstream

that supports and supplies you know,

the financial abundance to do whatever you're wanting to do.

So that's totally doable.

This is kinda like a next step upgrade

which is integrating your purpose

and integrating your essence with that

and how you live and who you are

so that then that and when you're in alignment with that,

people feel that wholeness and they're attracted to it

and then they want to exchange with you.

They want to participate with you

and then that's how this also,

this new economy is going to transition.

So it's really helpful to do it now

'cause we're gonna have to anyways.

So this is how it starts.

So as I get into some of the examples

and the first steps,

I want you to start considering,

get your wheels a spinning,

get your heart open,

get your creativity flowing, your imagination

and start thinking as your listening to this

what is my excitement?

Like if I could do anything in the world,

and I had enough money to do it,

you got millions of dollars in your bank account,

what would you do?

There's no possibility that you could fail

or get rejected, what would you do?

In a lot of different categories of life,

like who would you be?

What would that person do with your time everyday?

Because a lot of the reason why people don't do this

and it's also like they create excuses.

It's like, if I had the time, I would

you know, blank.

Ride horses everyday and paint

or whatever it looks like for you.

But when it comes down to it,

people don't actually end up doing it.

You know, they might get that break

you know off of work or something and then they just kinda,

they don't know what to do with this freedom.

So part of this is understanding and then acting upon

this freedom.

So first and foremost, what are you excited about.

What are you passionate about?

What would you wanna do?

What would you wanna have?

So start getting that going.

And even like get a piece of paper

and start writing down some ideas.

Feel free to pause this.

This is an interactive

life engagement topic and video.

This is interactive.

This is kinda like a little workshop.

And it's very important to do this

because right now you're sitting

and you're digesting information right now.

You're watching my life or like me

or what I'm talking about.

And I'm actually turning the table

and making this very interactive to where

I'm like hey, what about you?

What are you excited about?

And making you engage and step up

and so that's one of the things

that this does too is you then become a creator

and then other people want to understand, digest,

be inspired by you.

Answer the question, what are you most excited about,

if you could do anything, what would that look like?

That can look like a job category,

that can look like just your passions,

interests, places you wanna go,

places you wanna live.

Start getting the juices of inspiration moving, okay?

So the next thing I'm gonna give you a few examples

of how to transition with no money required.

So, for the first, hm, maybe three, four years

of me really kind of like radically stepping in

to exactly what I wanted to experience as a lifestyle,

I really didn't have any money.

And so you can do this without money

and I actually encourage you to do it without money

because this is what created and fortified

my own self value and self confidence

which I'm gonna do a video about

in coming weeks.

So that when I wanted to say start charging

and working in the money aspect,

everything was set to go and I knew exactly who I was

and what I wanted to give.

So now for story time.

So one of the things I wanted to do

I think this was about seven years ago

was I wanted to go to Hawaii

because I knew that it was the heart chakra of earth

and I can feel the call.

I wanted to swim with dolphins, be with the whales,

experience the energy of the land

and I had, you know, no money at all

and so I was like what do I do, what do I do?

And there was this workshop of swimming with dolphins

and I was like, I wanna go to that

but I wanna stay longer

and I wanna be able to experience this.

And I wanna be experiencing it in a way

where I'm not just kinda like

hitch hiking around because that's really important.

I've done a lot of traveling through Europe

in my younger life and there's a different experience

to when you're hitchhiking

and kind of like survival travel mode

versus actually getting to sit back and enjoy.

So I thought, okay,

what can I do?

How can I make this possible?

And this is the first step.

So we're gonna break this down a little bit.

The first step is a very clear

and specific intention, right?

So I wanted to go to Hawaii,

specifically go to this workshop

and stay for longer for this three week duration.

Very specific.

And this isn't me moving there, right at first.

This is just me, going and dipping my toe in it

but this was a stretch for me.

So you have to start with something that's a stretch.

So I was like, what can I do?

So I had a baby following at that time

like a pretty baby following but I was like okay,

I'm gonna do a fundraiser campaign

to raise money to go on this.

Other people have done this from my adventures by the way

and they have succeeded their goals

and been able to go.

So this is a good way if you want to try this.

And I did a fundraiser and I, in exchange,

for everyone that donated various amounts,

I painted them paintings.

So, there we go.

Creative way of making it happen while giving value.

And so, I painted all these amazing like postcards

that I sent from Hawaii.

I painted bigger paintings of like

really realistic whales, like it was a really good value

for the people and it was a good value for me.

And so then I made enough money

to actually go to the workshop.

Now the other piece, I wanted to stay longer.

How can I do this?

Well, I need accommodation, you know.

At certain points, you can like stay on a tent

on the beach, you know.

That works too but I was like you know

and I really wanna do this.

And so I contacted every bed and breakfast

on the Big Island, yeah.

Because I'm like okay, corporate hotels,

they're harder to get into.

You still can but they're a little bit harder.

Who can I contact, who you know directly,

person to person.

Bed and breakfast.

So I contacted about 20 bed and breakfasts.

I sent 'em an email.

I was authentic and I said that I'm really wanting

to experience the energy of the islands,

I would love to come stay at your place for a week

and in exchange, I am happy to paint you

a big painting for your retreat center

or for your bed and breakfast.

Or I'm happy to do healing sessions for you.

So again, I knew what I had as a value exchange

so I was giving them something.

I wasn't just taking.

And something that they probably would like.

So two contacted me back out of the 20

and they were actually really nice.

One of them is actually in the top 10 bed and breakfast

in the country and they were like yeah.

So I got to stay at one of the best bed and breakfast

like in the country and they chose healing sessions.

So I did like, you know,

three hours worth of healing sessions

and I got to stay in this amazing bed and breakfast

for a week.

I was able to go and experience all this in Hawaii

for the price of a plane ticket.

That's all I paid for.

And everyone else supported me

and I gave back in value.

So that was the first example.

Funny enough, a month later,

someone wanted to do an exchange

and my dad and I ended up moving to Maui a month after this.

So I got to move there for five months

which was incredible, on exchange again.

So this exchange principle is really powerful

in the beginning if it's something

that you don't have the money for

and also you can do like woofing trade.

You can do all kinds of things

to go live in these places or what not.

If you wanna go live in these places, for instance,

the price of living say in

in Mexico or in South America,

or in Bali or in Thailand,

some of these incredible places,

like the ones that you see on Instagram

they are like (gasps)

they are way less in living in the United States

so you could easily actually go there

as long as you just figure out an income source

but you can go there and start experiencing the energy

say for a year and in the meanwhile,

figure out what you wanna do online.

So this is the next thing that you can do

is you can leverage your own value

and trade and exchange.

You can also leverage assets and I see people

not doing this enough.

So for example, if you own a house,

you know or if you have some kind of like car

or like land space or something like that,

something like Airbnb, right?

You can leverage that so that when you move to Thailand

for a year, someone's paying that mortgage

and actually funds you to live there for a year.

So it really takes creativity

and it also takes writing down exactly what you want

and writing down the price or the cost of that

if you were gonna do it in a money way.

Or the price and value exchange of what that is.

And what you will find is it's actually

way less than you think.

And there are totally ways to make it possible and doable.

Now within the space, you don't have to be afraid of work.

I think work has gotten this like

really bad rap, rightfully so.

But the thing is, once you're like living your passion

and your true excitement, it's not work anymore.

It's play.

It's something that you already want to do.

And so for me, I actually work

I work incredibly hard.

I mean like I work a lot.

But it's stuff that I love

so it doesn't feel like it.

So we have to get into the space

where that's possible.

So going now into the actual designing,

the figuring out of what you want.

That's really where it starts

because figuring out what you want

is kind of in a way, the hardest part for most people.

And then the next hardest part

is actually just taking one action step.

So it's I've always just had it really clear to me

what I want because my imagination never got turned off

because I'm just so excited about life.

But then, and then I also have this part of my astrology,

this like Aries in this place of like starting new things

like bowls through it.

So I kinda have the guts and the gusto to do it.

So think of that and kind of tune into that energy

as you go into this next step.

Because if you can just come up with what it is,

and be clear about it and then take an action step

that's thoughtful, intelligent and creative,

it'll just manifest because whatever that excitement is,

whatever that thing is that you want

or want to experience or want to be,

it's aligned with who you are

and so that means it's already in existence.

It's already in a timeline for you to just synchronize with

and take in that action and moving in that direction

just syncs you with it.

So there is,

it exists.

It already is.

And that's one of the things that has been so helpful for me

is when I have this like inspiration,

this overwhelming inspiration of something

that I really want to experience or do,

it's already done.

Like you have to think of it from that angle

and put out that energy in that way.

And I guess, one of the things that maybe people think

you know, is that they're not deserving

of that kind of thing.

Or like that it's you know, kind of like opulent

of something, and in many cases, you know

maybe it is for you know those Instagram-ers

that are going from you know, Greece to Bali or something

and living in these high end resorts.

That's cool that's totally fine to do.

But it can also be

in that experience that something comes through

that's aligned with your purpose.

So for me, going and doing the experience with Hawaii,

seven years ago,

only a few years, well,

a month later landed me living there.

And a few years later, landed me completely in love

and it filling me up, just me being there in the place

but also then supporting other people

and getting to have that experience

and doing like say retreats there.

I never though when I showed up there

that I would be doing retreats.

So you can't know what's gonna come of it.

All you can know is that that's the next step

of the inspiration to pursue.

So now going into figuring it out, right?

So, I really like,

this just kind of all came intuitively and naturally to me

because I like challenge

and I also like new experiences.

So those two things mixed together made me able

to come up with these things and do this.

But more of a formalized format

that I've really liked is in the Four Hour Work Week book,

and again, I'm not into necessarily just like cutting down

to like no work,

it's again, it's going into what is play,

what is fulfilling,

what is passionate that you want to experience and do.

But nonetheless, there are amazing kind of tips

and they call it dream living

and a bit of lifestyle design

that you can find in listening to that book

and he has a lot of other strategies of what to do

so that you don't have to like

sit there and grind but you can leverage

your time and abilities in an appropriate way.

So I recommend going and checking out that book.

So that you can really like dive in

and fully like sculpt this out, this design.

But this is just like the beginning

of how you can start.

So these are a few of the ideas that he put in the book

that I already was implementing too.

So starting out, what would you do?

Again, if you had all the money in the world

to support whatever that is,

and what would you do if you couldn't fail at it,

write those things down.

And write the things down that you want to do

in the categories of doing,

like so the things like, it could be traveling,

or it could be whatever you wanna be doing in your life

and what you want to be.

So you might want to be a great musician.

You might want to be like a public speaker.

You might want to be whatever these things are.

And then also having.

So material things that you might want to have.

So in those categories, write down five things

and this is from his book.

Write down five things in each of those categories

that you want to experience and do.

Like that you're committed to to get really clear on it

and actually, we're gonna set up like a six month plan

and a one year plan 'cause it has to take action right now.

Because that fuel of excitement and that fire

is lit, but that thing is going to be burnt out

by programming of the world and just everyday life,

that shiz gets like drained out of you.

And so it's when that fire comes up,

you have to act immediately.

So once clarified, then come up with one action step

to get there.

And these things can be very specific

so it's like, oh I wanna become a better musician.

Okay, that's very vague.

So it's like, I want to play a concert

for more than 10 people within the next six months.

Okay that's more specific.

And with what instrument and how do you want it to look.

So you really have to envision

exactly what it is.

Or like a material thing.

I want a new Tesla model by, and within the next year.

Okay, great.

So then figure out also how much those things would cost.

Like actually look it up,

break it down and then once that number is in you,

like right, for the dolphin thing right?

It's like $2000 or something.

Okay, $2000 you know how much it is.

Then you can actually manifest it.

If it's this elusive thing that you just don't even know,

then it's elusive and you can't grab onto it.

You can't then let your subconscious

and your imagination and your creativity

come up with the solutions.

This is a very solution based

idea of making.

As you're doing this, don't judge what comes up.

Okay, especially because many of you are very spiritual

and very conscious and it's like,

uh be offensive to say that I want a mansion on the beach

or whatever that thing is that you might want.

Write it down.

It's really important to acknowledge

these like burning desires in you

and put them on paper and then actually experience them.

Because even if you know, you're like eh,

I think that this, this is kind of egoic

or I don't know where this is coming from,

it doesn't matter because it needs to be experienced.

It might be kind of lower chakra, desire experience

that you need to have and then once you have it

you kinda get it out of your system

and then you don't need to do it anymore

and you can get more on say your purpose to then serve.

But it's really important to experience it.

So I really recommend going and watching

my matrix deprogramming playlist

which I'll have in the link below,

in the comment pin below,

because it talks about that.

It talks about honoring those lower desires

and honestly, in a way, playing them out safely

so that you can kinda get through

those like lower programs or lower densities

for whatever reason 'cause there's a reason

that you have them so that you can go

into more of your purpose and be more aligned

with your passion.

And it might be totally synchronized with it.

Maybe buying that like expensive sports cars

or something or the mansion on the beach,

gives you an inspiration of like working with billionaires

to them like save the world, right?

So we can't judge where these things are coming from.

So, however big, however small, go for it.

And really start with something that's going to make you

a bit uncomfortable and take action on it immediately.

And this is so important,

taking action immediately, right,

while the fire still burning really bright.

An example of that, what I've done recent,

a few days ago, I just was so again,

like passionate and it was so burning in me

to work on this project that's been coming up

for quite a few years which is to create

some online platform so that people can log

their fruit trees in their respective area

so that other people can go and harvest and collect.

Because I see from Hawaii to California

to Arizona that there's so much abundance of food

but people don't pick it up.

Like it's just falling and there's thousand apples

on the ground and no one ate them

but they're importing them from Washington.

So, this hm, irked me.

And those things that irk you are the things

that you were meant to help in solutions for the world with.

And so, I was like okay,

it became very evident 'cause I was in Utah

and again, fruit falling all over the ground

and no one knew that lived in the house

that it could be eaten.

What a concept, people are scared of this.

So what did I do?

I immediately, in that inspiration,

contacted David Wolf and his tree planting foundation

because they have, I'm like well,

they may already know something

or they already have the fruit trees

so let's say what they say.

And they wrote me back and they said,

you know, we don't have the bandwidth right now

to focus on that but there's another site

that is already doing something like that.

Yes, perfect.

So part of this is also path of least resistance.

It doesn't mean that we need to create

the whole thing ourselves,

but we need to take the action steps to find

a way that we can do it.

So now I'm gonna work on working with them

to create this to bring this to fruition.

So that's the idea.

So whatever it is, specifically,

if you're like the musician idea,

okay, maybe you don't play an instrument.

Alright then find a music teacher like tonight,

like right now as your watching this video

and get your first, you know, session going.

Or whatever it is.

You want that trip to wherever that is,

you know find out what that looks like

and how much that would be.

So take the action steps immediately

so that you can work towards that

and set those goals.

And as you do this,

and as you get more used to it,

it becomes easier and easier.

And you see it working

because it's in alignment with who you are.

It's in alignment with your spirit.

And so it works and then you go,

okay well I can do this again.

And it just becomes this innate operating system

of how you live your life.

And this conscious creating design aspect

which ends up building so much self confidence

and knowing exactly what you have to give

and how you can serve.

The one thing I wanna say before I close out

is the idea that some things don't work out.

Some things don't go as planned.

Things come up.

Maybe that thing doesn't manifest.

That's okay too.

The idea is is when you're creating,

there's movement.

You're alive.

You're either kinda like alive or your dying.

So this movement, this momentum,

makes it so that the challenges aren't as hard.

You're like in movement

so you can move and you can shift

and you can adapt and you can come up with new ideas.

But if you're stopped and you're like solid.

You're like I'm gonna do this thing

and then it doesn't work, it's like oh,

and you're kinda like, get hit

and you can't quite then like get back up

to keep going.

So building the momentum and moving with this

gives you that capacity to be really adaptable.

That's like the biggest thing they'll say.

And also to have enough fulfillment from your life

that when things come up, it's not that big of a deal.

'Cause you're like yeah whatever,

it's been a great year.

That thing happened but okay,

I can handle it.

So it creates a fortification

so that you can handle the things that come up

because you have a reserve of juice and joy

in your life.

So just so that you know that.

That's another part.

I hope you've enjoyed this video.

And I would love for you to comment below

of what your actionable excitements are

in your life that you are going to do

like right now.

Okay, within the next six months to the year.

But taking action steps now.

What are those things, comment below.

Restaurant Style Teriyaki Chicken Recipe – Easy Grilled Teriyaki Chicken and Teriyaki Sauce Recipe - Duration: 4:01.

Take out teriyaki chicken is everyone's favorite meal right?

Well today I have a treat for you!

Even a tech reviewer has to eat and this recipe for teriyaki chicken is just like what you

get at a teriyaki shop.

This sweet and savory sauce is the best and I hope you follow along and try this super

simple recipe!

I definitely like leftovers so I'm using about 5 pounds of boneless chicken thighs.

And for the teriyaki sauce, there are only 5 ingredients with one of them being water.

But before we get to the sauce let's start by marinating the chicken with about a quarter

cup of Japanese soy sauce per 2 to 3 pounds of chicken.

It has to be Japanese soy sauce or it won't taste right.

You can use the San J low sodium soy sauce I have here or the Yamasa brand.

I've tried both and Yamasa is less expensive.

I never really measure the marinade so this doesn't have to be precise.

Then add about 2 tablespoons of Mirin to the same amount of chicken.

If you don't know what Mirin is, it's a sweet rice wine that's necessary for that teriyaki

flavor.

To me, any teriyaki recipe that does not have Mirin will not taste right so just be aware.

Now thoroughly mix the marinade around and coat all the chicken.

I usually make a pretty big batch of teriyaki chicken so I need two containers to hold all

the meat.

You could use chicken breasts but thighs will work out the best and it's definitely more

juicy.

After it's mixed, place the chicken in the fridge for minimum of 3 hours or more for

the best flavor.

Now let's start on the sauce which is what makes this the best teriyaki chicken recipe

I think you'll find on the internet!

Start with a half-cup of Japanese soy sauce and pour into a small pot.

Next measure out a quarter cup of Mirin.

Then add a half cup of water.

Now add a half cup of sugar.

And lastly measure out 2 tablespoons of corn starch.

Use a whisk and mix the sugar and corn starch until it's all dissolved.

Now heat the pan on medium-high heat and keep stirring every 15 to 20 seconds.

We're going to get this boiling and it won't take very long so definitely keep an eye on

it.

This mixture is going to stay liquid until it starts boiling and then it gets thick really

fast so keep stirring.

Once it starts to boil you only need to stir another 15 seconds and get it off the heat.

And now the sauce can be put aside to cool while grilling the chicken.

Hopefully you've been heating your grill because it's time to put the chicken on the grill!

It's definitely nice to have a large grill for the amount of chicken I'm preparing here.

This is a Traeger pellet grill and I think it works ok but I whenever I cook on a gas

grill it comes out way better.

So I'm going to cook these about 15 to 20 minutes on each side or until they're done.

These start to smell really good as they're sizzling and I can't wait to sit down and

eat!

After the chicken is done, the thighs need to be cut into half-inch slices before serving.

To complete the meal I've prepared some rice and stir-fried cabbage to go along with the

dish.

And because this recipe is so good I rarely go to teriyaki restaurants anymore so I save

a bunch of money by cooking all this food myself.

I can definitely say that this is just as good as what you get at the teriyaki shops!

I hope you agree that this is a really tasty and easy recipe to prepare!

And please let me know in the comments how your chicken turned out!

And hit that subscribe button to keep up with all my weekly videos!

Purdue Daily Life Study Orientation: Study Design - Duration: 8:23.

Thank you for agreeing to participate in this study and welcome to orientation. My

name is Justine and I'm a researcher at Purdue University working with Dr.

Katherine Thomas on this project. I'll be walking you through how to complete this

study with this short video. Before we begin, please turn on the audio for this

presentation and click the box in the bottom right hand corner of the video to

make this video full screen. Please note that this study will require you to take

brief surveys throughout the day for the next fourteen consecutive days. If you

are not available during the next two weeks please consider participating at

another time. The graphic displayed on this slide will be at the bottom of each

slide throughout this orientation today so you can see the steps in the study

and follow along to see where we are. Right now we are beginning orientation

and learning about the study design. After this orientation you will be able

to click a Next button at the bottom right hand corner of the screen and

you will be automatically redirected to a 45 minute baseline survey. Please

complete the survey all at once rather than taking breaks and coming back to it

later. The baseline survey will ask you a number of questions about your general

personality attitudes beliefs and behaviors. Please complete the survey at

your own pace and make sure to read and answer all questions carefully and

honestly. We are only interested in your responses for research purposes. Some

questions ask about personal or sensitive information but we will never

ask you for your name and all of your responses are confidential.

The research team does have the right to reject your responses if we find they're

not authentic. Please do complete this baseline survey on your computer, not

your phone. After you submit the survey you'll be redirected to another video

where we will walk you through how to sign up for Survey Signal, a survey

distribution program that sends surveys to your smartphone. Before you take the

baseline survey we want to give you a quick overview of the study. Beginning

the day after you enroll with survey signal you will begin the daily data

collection portion of this study. During this time you will be receiving three

short surveys a day for 14 days from Survey Signal

Here's an overview of what each day will look like. The first two surveys you

receive each day take about three minutes each to complete and we'll ask

you about your thoughts and feelings in the present moment. The first survey will

be sent at various times throughout 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. and the second between

2 p.m. and 5 p.m. You will have two hours to take each of these surveys from

the time they are sent. After two hours the survey link will deactivate and you

will no longer be able to submit the survey. You must submit your responses

within two hours of receiving the survey in order to receive compensation for

that survey. We will send you a reminder text message one hour after sending each

survey if you have not completed the survey yet.

The third survey you will receive each day will have the same questions as the

other two and will also ask you to reflect on your day as a whole. It will

take about five minutes to complete this end of day survey and it will be sent at

exactly 9:00 p.m. each evening and will be available for you to take until 2

a.m. So you will have five hours to submit the survey before it deactivates.

Please take the survey as close to the end of your day as you can. In other

words try to take the last survey close to when you will go to sleep, whenever

that may be. We will send you a reminder text message one hour after sending the

survey if you have not completed the survey yet. To the right is a picture of

what a typical day will look like. Please pause this orientation if you would like

more time to view this picture. Here's an example of what a survey sent to your

smartphone will look like. Please note that the text message includes the time

as well as a link to complete the survey. Remember you will have two hours to

submit these first two surveys each day and five hours to submit the third

survey. So for example the survey on the left was sent to my phone at 10:07 a.m.

so in order to receive compensation this survey needs to be submitted by 12:07

p.m. Again if you do not submit the survey within the two hour activation

period, or five hours for the last survey, the survey will be marked incomplete, so

please complete the survey before the activation period is up.

The research team is not able to reactivate surveys as surveys are sent out

through the survey distribution program and unfortunately we cannot accommodate

individual schedules. Please plan to keep all text messages you receive from

survey signal until you are compensated for your participation. Please also keep

your phone on vibrate or sound throughout the study so long as when

your schedule allows. The research team has tested the average time it takes to

complete each survey and we have calculated that this study will take

about four hours to complete, including this orientation and sign-up process as

well as the daily surveys for the next 14 days, starting tomorrow. We will pay

you $7 per hour to participate in the study and thus you will earn 28 dollars

upon full completion of this study. We realize you will sometimes be in

situations in which you cannot complete the survey within two hours. For this

reason we will compensate you for providing complete data as long as you

complete at least 90% of the total surveys in this study. Because we cannot

use any of your data if you complete less than two-thirds of the surveys we

will not compensate you at all if you do not complete at least 67% of the total

surveys in the study. If you complete between 67 percent and 90 percent of all

surveys we will compensate you using a sliding scale. For example 80 percent

compensation if you complete 80 percent of the surveys. Participants who complete

more than 90 percent of the surveys will be entered into a raffle to win an

Amazon gift card. Those who complete more than 95 percent of the surveys will get

two entries into the raffle and 100 percent of the surveys will get three

raffle entries. Ten percent of participants in the raffle will win a

gift card. You will be paid at the end of the study period once the research team

has calculated how much of the study you have completed. However because we don't

want your time to run out on Prolific's website after you signed up for

the study, we will give you the completion link today. Remember this does

not mean your participation is complete and we will compensate you after your 14

days in the study. If you have any problems throughout the study please

contact us immediately. We ask that you contact us through our

study website on the contact us tab. This ensures that we do not receive your

personal email address but if you wish to contact us through your Prolific

email please email personalityresearch@purdue.edu. Please contact us

immediately if you do not receive exactly four surveys in one day or if

you have a survey link that is not working within the activation period of

that survey. Please do not contact us if you forget to respond to a survey or if

you submit a survey late, as we are unable to send makeup surveys or extend

the activation period. Now let's go over the key points of this orientation before

taking the baseline survey. Starting tomorrow, or the day after

Survey Signal enrollment, you will receive three surveys a day for 14 days

straight. The first survey will be sent between

the hours of 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. and the second between the hours of 2:00 p.m.

and 5:00 p.m. You have exactly two hours to submit the surveys. The end-of-day

survey will be sent at 9 p.m. each evening. You have exactly five hours, or

until 2 a.m., to submit this survey. Remember to take this survey as close to

the end of your day as you can. Please contact us with any questions through

our study web site at personalityresearch.weebly.com. Please click the

arrow beneath this video to go to the baseline survey. If you are watching this

video on full screen, you will need to exit full-screen mode to see the arrow.

The first question on this survey will be asking for your unique Prolific ID, so

please have your Prolific ID copied on your computer so you can easily paste it

in each step.
