Horse show evacuated after major fire at multi-storey car park
Horses were seen being evacuated from the arena . A horse show has been cancelled and humans and horses evacuated after a major fire at a nearby car park.
A fire involving a number of vehicles has broken out at a multi-storey car park near Liverpools Echo Arena, where the Liverpool International Horse Show was being held.
There are currently 12 fire engines on the scene battling the blaze, which witnesses claim has spread across the whole top level of the car park. Show-goers posted online that the show was swiftly cancelled, and visitors and animals were evacuated.
Others fear there are horse boxes – with horses inside – trapped in the multi-storey.
Horses are reportedly being evacuated from the arena .
Witnesses said they can smell smoke from inside the building .
Smoke can be seen rising from the top of the arena car park (Picture: Instagram/gowing90). One witness, James Forshaw, tweeted that the whole top level of the arena car park is believed to be ablaze.
He also told Metro. uk that they were being evacuated from the arena, and that it was unclear if the fire was spreading.
Another witness, Alison Richardson, told the Liverpool Echo that some people have been saying that there are horse boxes in the car park, with animals in.
Update: we have been informed that the fire service are present. We are all still in the arena and are starting to smell smoke from inside the arena .
It is believed that the whole top level of the arena car park is on fire .

Merseyside Fire and Rescue said in a statement: Firefighters are attending a fire at a multi-storey car park at Kings Dock, in Liverpool.
Six fire engines are in attendance and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, are tackling the fire using a 52 mil hose. Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called at 4. 42pm and crews were on the scene at 4. 50pm.
The fire is believed to involve a number of vehicles.
