Good day, we started a new project
a Toyota Land cruiser Fj40
i believe 1981
I bought it in the Netherlands, a while ago
It had France licence plates
I was around a while on the net, so i was curious
So i went there to take a look
I found her i a good and rust free condition, the only rust was on this spot
And here a spot
and here
For a Fj and a Bj this is not very common
Becose they are almost all rusty
Espescaly in the Netherlands, there a places in the world that have rust free models
In dry and hot climates
In the Netherland there is not such thing
Almost everthing that drives around in the Netherlands is rotten
Alot of 40's in this country is held together with checkerplate and popnails etc.
Worthless
But this one is in remarkeble good condition
Only this spot here
And this little spot
In the first place we should not start with this project
Becose we have so much other projects to take care of
And that has also priority
I ask a worker here to remove a fender
And with a fender i meant
This fender flare here
So he tought i meant the front fenders
I think i did not tell him this correct
So wen you take out the front fenders
You almost take the complete front of the car a part
So when you do this you can better forward this project
At first i had no intetions to take the whole car a part.
Becose it was in a proper state
my idea was a little check up of the paint and some welding etc
In some way that is very difficult for me
I just took it a part again completly
And restore almost everything
It will not be a complete resto, we leave the engine for what it is
The engine runs great
What we also did is
Returned the original wheelwelds
When you use this fenderflares
There will be a piece of metal that needs to be cut out
Becose your tires will hit this metal
People use these when they mount big tires and rims under there FJ
I want to return this car to his original state
And keep it original,
The break lines etc are on the original place, nobody destroyed the car with aftermarket goodies
Lets take a look a the chassis
we took it a part also
we completely stript it
We don,t sandblast it
When you do this you make the surface very ruff
It was in a fair condition
There was a little rust,
Some spot have there original shiny paint
So that i perfect
We took the axles underneath
The will be completely restored, and be taken a part.
The birfield, bearings and seals etc
clean the swifelballs etc.
That kind of stuff
Leaf springs are new
almost new
I can see this becose there are new markers on that are normally faded
So we will paint this
We connect this with new passivated bolts
U bolts
New shackels and polyurathne bushings
So this will be nice again
About the engine
We keep it a it is
I drove the thing and it runs great
To overhaul the engine will be a waste of money
I really runs great
i runs instantly, touch the key and it runs
So we swap the thermostate and waterpump
parts like this we change, and i belive there is allready a new waterpump mounted
And a new carb also, a original one
so i dont think there will be any problems with the engine
there is an header mounted
we leave it on an move on with a new exhaust from there on
so this will be great
It will be for sale

I won't be cheap, becose there is alot of work to be done
lots of hours
